Since 1983, Bow Gamelan Ensemble have inspired generations of artists with their radical practices and explosive performances. Charged with their individual virtuosity in performance art, avant-garde music and kinetic sculpture, their sound installations and performances are immersed in an orchestra of instruments made from scrap metal, electric motors, river barges and domestic objects including glass sheets, light bulbs and fireworks. A dissonance between 'noise' and 'meaningful utterance' that will astonish the ears and ravish the imagination with unearthly magic.

MAXIMUM IMPLOSION collects all collaborative (and most sought after) pieces between Zeni Geva (KK NULL) and Steve Albini (BIG BLACK / SHELLAC): "Nai-Ha" and "All Right, You Little B*st*rds!". Also included are bonus tracks from the ultra-limited 12"-only "Superunit", presented with meticulous Cedar mastering by legendary mastering engineer Denis Blackham.
On the first CD, Zeni Geva present ultra-heavy Japanese noise rock, with sludgy riffs, thundering feedback, lumbering drums, subhuman bass crawl, and complex noise textures, with KK Null's trademark vocals / unique guitar accompanied by Albini's heavy guitar. "Nai-Ha" loosely translates to "broken inside", with the title track relaying the gruesome aftermath of a car accident.
The second CD captures Zeni Geva and Steve Albini's live-to-desk tracks from Tokyo & Osaka in 1992. Albini also makes vocal appearances, as well as guitar throughout.
All production and mixing by Steve Albini. Final mastering by Martin Bowes at Cage Studios in England, and presented here in its complete form for the first time on Cold Spring. |

"With a huge sound reminiscent of Godflesh in its heavy bottom and impossibly high-end guitar tones, resulting in almost no mid-range, it's hard to believe that there are only three people in the band... What saves the record from sounding like an impenetrable wall of sludge are a combination of Albini's sure-handed engineering and production, along with the band's precise grasp of noise, dynamics, and song construction... Steve Albini continued to produce / engineer several albums for Zeni Geva, including "Desire For Agony" (Alternative Tentacles) and "10,000 Light Years" (Neurot Recordings).

"Mine" is the second release for the Italian artist Alice Kundalini with her solo project She Spread Sorrow. Between the dark rooms of an abandoned college, where whispers and obscene thoughts mingle, where little bells and distortions come together, the inner voices are fleeing to the rules of harmony to awaken a darker sound, hidden and deprived, of those who have something to hide. Ritual deathscapes, obscure Death Industrial, sinful Power Electronics.
The two bonus tracks, bringing the album to 46 minutes, are majestic, heavy and claustrophobic, perfectly complimenting this already intense masterpiece. 6-panel digipak.

Originally released in a tiny self-financed run of just 60 CDs in 2011, Cold Spring are proud to give this impossible-to-find release by Penny Rimbaud (CRASS) the wider attention it deserves. 27 minutes of dark jazz, industrial, bursts of repetitive noise rock and foreboding classical cello, with the initial music laid down by New York duo JAPANTHER, and organically interwoven with the punk poetry of Penny and other Shakespearean 'voices'. The lyrical subject centres on broken relationships and the conflicts which can exist between love and desire. All elements were recorded at the legendary Dial House in Essex. Digisleeve.

C.3.3. is a personal project from Paul Jamrozy, co-founder of original industrial agitators TEST DEPT..
The work is inspired by the real life experience of Her Majesty's Prison Reading. Tracing the history of the location through to the present current political and social situation, evoking the harsh realities of Victorian and modern day Britain. The title C.3.3. is drawn from the cell number where the literary figure Oscar Wilde was incarcerated in Reading Gaol under gross indecency charges and was the pseudonym used for the publication "The Ballad of Reading Gaol", a poem based on the execution of a fellow inmate.
Reminiscent of the finest mid-era TEST DEPT., such as "Gododdin" or "Pax Britannica", with heavy percussion, strings, and strident vocals.

'Charnel Transmissions' is the fourth TUNNELS OF AH release and once more the TOAH sound is taken into ever more oblique regions.
Inspired by the 'chime and gong stations' recordings of the Cold War era, 'Charnel Transmissions' sets out to evoke rather than recreate the alienated spirit(s) of those recordings. With the ritual percussion of Francis P. weaving throughout the album alongside cracked electronics, 'Charnel Transmissions' is a disquieting spiral into an ashen world of 'mythostatic psychopomp' where this world is transformed into a charnel ground of gods, ghosts and jackals.
Crumbling drones, splintered bursts of noise and buried voices make 'Charnel Transmissions' unconventional and non-linear, much like those charnel dwellers who seek out the lowest to attain the highest. For lovers of ceremonial sounds and dark places.

'Lunisolar' is the second solo album from the 'Queen Of Japanese Noise', Mayuko Hino. 'Faintainhead' unleashes swathes of densely layered noise, undulating in intensity and ferociousness. Claustrophobic with moments of gentle metallic percussion, punctuating the raging vibrations. 'Astral Travelling' features unrelenting, piercing electronics throughout. Hino plays noise with self-made instruments and her six-theremin oscillators (in bright pink) - the one and only in the world, specially made by Ryo Araishi (a.k.a. ichion). Hino is most well-known for forming C.C.C.C. (Cosmic Coincidence Control Center) in 1990, with Hiroshi Hasegawa, Fumio Kosakai and Ryuichi Nagakubo and is a member of Mne-Mic, DFH-M3, and Transparentz. 48 mins. Digipak. |

"Silencers (The Conspiracy Theory Dossiers)" is inspired by the testimonies of those who have had contact with the so-called "Silencers" or "Men in Black". Federal agents? Aliens? International conspirators? Sonologyst makes a documentary in music, including spy tech, declassified documents, official recordings, control techs, secreted scientific information, CIA Deep Black Programs, NASA classified tapes, Secret societies and breakaway civilization hypotheses. Recommended for those who follow the nebulous paths of Inade, Schloss Tegal, Bad Sector, Lustmord. Presented in a digipak with booklet. |
Siberian band NYTT LAND presents its new epic musical canvas. Working with the same unchanging 4 band-members, the musicians continue to revive the true magical sound of the Ancient North. Odal is inspired by the traditional music of the indigenous peoples of Siberia, the Old Icelandic epic and the atmosphere of classic Norwegian black metal. This time the album was recorded without using samples; all parts of the instruments were performed live. All songs were recorded and mixed at the legendary "Radio Sibir", giving it the finest sound quality. All the sounds of nature were recorded in western Siberia and northern Norway. As on Fimbulvinter (CSR234CD), Odal features the traditional Siberian overtone singing technique "kargyraa", sung by vocalist Natalia Pakhalenko, giving a special character to the sound.
