ABIGOR - 'Höllenzwang - Chronicles Of Perdition' CD (Avantgarde Music) - £11
The 10th album by cult Austrian Black Metal act Abigor. Features Silenium (Summoning, Kreuzweg Ost, Amestigon, Die Verbannten Kinder Evas) on vocals. "Pure aural evil... the underlying musical / technical concept of the album: there is no - not one single - additional guitar track recorded. No additional melody, no solo, no doubletracks. Instrumentally, we limited ourselves to record a rather natural and direct album consisting of 2 guitars, a bass and "blastbeat" free drums. To remember the original idea of early 90's Black Metal which always meant both - TRADITION and at the same time INNOVATION. The past is alive, the black flame burns bright - all hail darkness and evil!". |
ABIGOR - 'Höllenzwang - Chronicles Of Perdition' LP (Avantgarde Music) - £16
Vinyl edition of the above release. Comes with A4 insert. |
AELTER - 'IV: Love Eternal' CD (Avantgarde Music) - £11
With a cinematically dreary dreamscape of doom-inspired darkness, Aelter has fully embraced a shadow-cast landscape of gothic Western folk music and hypnotic darkwave country. Aelter is Blake Green (Wolvserpent, Pussygut). "Aelter continue their curious and darkly glorious odyssey with an album brimming with desert drones, ghost-town Morricone, gothic tumbleweeds, blackened Badalamenti, sepulchral lounge music, campfire ballads from the grave, galactic shimmers, ominous swamp waltz and what feels like the black lodge version of John Lurie". Previously released on vinyl by Pesanta Urfolk (2015), now presented on CD in a digipak. |
ALLERSEELEN - 'Chairete Daimones' CD (Aorta) - £12.50
The brand new album by Allerseelen is another catchy and driving chapter in the discography of this adventurous and ambitious project. "Chairete Daimones" is Ancient Greek for Be Greeted, Demons. These daimons or demons are not 'evil spirits' but benevolent and closer to guardian angels. Chairete Daimones were also the words in an ancient Greek ritual in which wine was spilled into the air, on the earth or also on tombs as a libation, an offer for these demons. This ritual was again celebrated in autumn 1871 when Friedrich Nietzsche with some fellow poets and philosophers drank dark wine late at night. Features guests from: Die Weisse Rose, Halo Manash, Miel Noir, Fahl, Cisfinitum, Les Jumeaux Discordants, Keys of Perception, and Kerbholz. Enjoy with a good glass of dark wine late at night. Ltd x 500 copies in a digipak with 16-page booklet. |
ALLERSEELEN - 'Dunkelgraue Lieder' CD (Aorta) - £12.50
"Dunkelgraue Lieder" is a deeply reworked version of the 1996 Allerseelen album "Sturmlieder". Now, 21 years later, Gerhard Hallstatt has returned to his classic masterpiece and offer a new look on this great work. Digitally remastered, this album also features 7 tracks which didn't appear on the 1996 release. The original tracks with their "sturm und drang" attitude have been placed in the middle of the new album wrapped in the new ones which are more philosophical, melancholic and permeated with sad beauty. Sonically they are also more into krautpop / neofolk sounding of today's Allerseelen making a contrast to harsh and abrasive tunes from mid 90's. As a result we have a very interesting reminiscence of the past with a kind of a comment from the present, some wise and soft look back on one's young spiritual Nietzschean extremities. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak. |
ALTERNATIVE TV - 'Primitive Emotions' CD (Winter Hill Recordings / Fourth Dimension) - £12
A collection of single, EP and compilation tracks released by ATV 2016-2019. Includes 'This Little Girl', 'Negative Primitive', 'The System', and 'Like A Tomb' (with Vic Godard on guitar), amongst others. 'Chinese Burn' is a different version to the one which appears on the "Low Expectations" 10" on Fourth Dimension. This is a neat way of listening to these tracks as they map out an arc in the group's more recent development. As Mark Perry himself said, this release actually sounds more like an album in its own right. Another great entry in the band's illustrious career. "This LP is intoxicating and at times suffocating brilliance. Few write any better about the less attractive traits of the human condition and the world we all help perpetuate than Mark Perry. The music here presents an updated but tough ATV, battle-worn but not at all weary, indeed as musically invigorating and challenging as they ever were. Mark's still kicking against the pricks and the pricks that we became after the dream died... ATV are still cutting things in fine style." (Louder Than War). Digipak. |
ALTERNATIVE TV - 'Scars On Sunday' CD (Winter Hill Recordings / Fourth Dimension) - £12
Remastered reissue of this rare live album originally released on cassette in 1979. Starts of with their notoriously messy gig recorded live at Greenwich Theatre in spring 1979, plus the very first Good Missionaries concert at the Lyceum Ballroom May 1979. The other two tracks are largely improvised and were recorded on the 'Pop Group' tour in summer 1979. "A classic of the early UK tape scene... This is most definitely lo-fi and not easy listening - a positive boon for ATV heads and anyone deep into DIY / Independent / Tape Scene stuff... a true artistic statement from the heart of the struggle... By moving bravely into areas that Pop/Rock simply wasn't allowed to probe it is very refreshing, as you can hear barriers being broken, the difference between performer and fan cut down to a mere whisker." (Louder Than War). Digipak with booklet which includes new sleevenotes by Mark Perry and previously unseen photos. |
BRIGHTER DEATH NOW - 'Breaking Down Nihil' 2 x LP (:retortae:) - £33
The long overdue vinyl version of the recording from the legendary Brighter Death Now Russian mini-tour in September 2009 (initially released by Der Angriff / Indiestate as 2CD in 2011). Karmanik was joined by Russian artists for the tour: Anthesteria and LamiaVox in Moscow, and Bardoseneticube and 414 in St. Petersburg. Both shows were recorded on multi-channel devices, then carefully mixed and mastered, so the final quality is close to the studio one without losing any bit of the raw energy of live performance. The result is a very fresh and unexpected look on the well-known BDN compositions. This double vinyl set comes in a plain black cover with metal plate attached. Inside there are two black vinyl in black polylined generic inner sleeves and full-sized insert. Strictly limited to 100 copies. |
COH - 'COH DOMA' CD (:retortae:) - £15
The brand new album from Ivan Pavlov aka CoH is a recording session in memory of his old friend Mika Vainio (Pan Sonic). The concert based upon this material took place place at DOM in Moscow in 2017. Unfortunately, the original live recording was lost due to a hard disk crash. The material presented here is a live-in-a-studio version of the show, carefully engineered and mastered for the CD release. Musically it is deep electronic ambient with some throbbing rhythm pulsations and occasional glitches. Active since the late 90's, CoH has numerous releases on labels such as Eskaton, Raster-Noton, and Editions Mego. Ivan was also part of a post-utopian act Soisong with Peter Christopherson (Throbbing Gristle / Coil). The CD comes packed in a special octagonal-shaped thick black silkscreened carton package with a die-cut window. Strictly limited to 200 copies only. |
CONTRASTATE - 'An Exercise In Defascination' 7" (Black Rose Recordings) - £7.50
This EP features alternative mixes from Contrastate's ongoing studio recordings for their next album. The concept is inspired by the Italian giallo films of 1970s. "Why are Flavia’s hands and feet missing? What is she doing in the Nessuno Aslyum? And how did she know about the death of Judge Carnevale? Inspector Qualcuno fights his way through the elite of society and the cabal of capitalism to the corrupt underbelly of a decadent and decaying nation. Until finally confronting a closed-shop cartel hell bent on anti-democratic sabotage for its own personal gain". Dark ritual ambience of the electronic avant-garde shot through with a vein of experimental noise and stentorian vocals that are strewn amongst touches of industrial surrealism and sonic soundtracks. "Contrastate achieve an amazing equilibrium between organic sound and brooding electronics" Heathen Harvest. Ltd x 250 copies on yellow vinyl. |
CREATION VI & UGASANIE - 'Birds Of Naukan' CD (Zhelezobeton) - £11.50
Reissue of a work first published in 2015 in a small edition of 80 copies. This is a collaboration album recorded by the projects Creation VI and Ugasanie and dedicated to several sacred places of Chukotka, such as the Whale Bone Alley on Yttigran island and a collection of ancient rock engravings on the Pegtymel river. The album was inspired by the documentary "Chukotka: The Coast of Memory" directed by Andris Slapins, and poems of the Yupik poetess Zoya Nenlyumkina, who was born in the now deserted village of Naukan, which at that time was the easternmost settlement of Eurasia. Petroglyphs carved on stones along rivers, bird colonies and herds of walruses, whale skulls dug in the coast hundreds of years ago - many images were captured in the sounds of this album. Mouth harps and ocarins, throat singing, field recordings and transparent iridescence of cold creeping ambient, saturated with echoes of shamanistic rituals, cries of bird flocks and songs that the ocean sings to heavens, while playing on coastal pebbles. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
DARKWOOD - 'Herbstgewölk' LP (Fronte Nordico) - £22
Deluxe vinyl reissue of Darkwood's 2004 album, originally released on CD by Heidenvolk. This album gathers 10 of the darkest and most threatening tracks... on the final hope and the final curse, on 'miracle' weapons and a race that could only be lost. Not a straightforward Neofolk release like previous albums, the music here is a fusion of acoustic instruments, haunting soundscapes, stirring vocals, and historical samples. "The clouds of autumn were drawing near and the world shivered in the storms of the sun". Ltd x 110 copies in a silkscreen printed die-cut thick grey rough carton cover with full-colour picture in the centre and attached full colour 12" info sheet. |
DOWNFALL OF NUR - 'Umbras De Barbagia' CD (Avantgarde Music) - £12
Reissue of one of the most anticipated atmospheric Black Metal debut albums. "Downfall Of Nur" is a concept album based on ancient Sardinian folklore/history and the end of the Nuragica civilization. Pagan black metal with folk openings of great atmosphere. Doom-laden, metallic grandeur with anguished screams and frenzied drum work. An album that knows how to balance the light with the very dark and violent. Complex and profound. Digipak with 12-page booklet. |
MICRO_PENIS - 'La Maison De La Justice' LP (Éditions Vibrisse) - £18
A brand new out-there vinyl from France's weird noise / experimental / 'no music' enfant terrible Micro_Penis: Heyer, Kittel, Ogrob (aka Mister Schleemm), and Spenlehauer. "Gross improv, illiterate, savagery amongst civilization, collective strain, drool and spit, mental deficiency, foul breath from brass instruments, exploiting human idiocy, musical p*rn*graphy, sound rubbish chute that does not have respect for anything nor anyone". Recorded 2016-18. Really NSFW artwork by Guillaume Soulatges. Graphics and screen printing (various colour combinations) by Atelier October. Mastering by Julien Bildstein. |
NORTT - 'Endeligt' CD (Avantgarde Music) - £12
The new album from the cavernous cult depressive funeral doom enigma Nortt is another monumental offering. Ten years after "Galgenfrist", Nortt is back with another masterpiece of dying Art, Art for the dying. "Nortt continues to embody the sound of deep despondency, a crawling march to the grave with each step a punch to the heart. Endeligt is still a funeral doom metal album, something slow and terrifyingly personal, and with that genre comes an inherently sepulchral grief... This is Nortt distilled, the art and intent all the more pure and dense. Though Endeligt may present itself as something beautiful and melodic, its crushing weight will leave you breathless" (Invisible Oranges). 6-panel digipak with silver on black print. |
NORTT - 'Endeligt' LP (Avantgarde Music) - £18
Vinyl version of the above release. Second edition in a black reverse-board sleeve with silver print, with inner sleeve printed on offset paper. |
NORTT - 'Galgenfrist' CD (Avantgarde Music) - £12
Brand new reissue of Nortt's acclaimed third album (originally released 2007). Nortt continues his perfect blend of atmospheric funeral doom and depressive black metal. Galgenfrist is death, it is depression, it is sorrow, but yet it is beautiful. Nortt has accomplished what he set out to do in forty seven minutes of pure despair. The only question that remains is will you follow? Imagine a cold and void landscape. Imagine feeling completely alone. Imagine death itself, add those together and you get Nortt... One thing on Galgenfrist which is more prominent to his previous works is the use of ambient keys which set the album up to spiral downwards into everything negative than anyone could possibly imagine in music. 6-panel digipak with booklet. |
OLE PETTER SØRUM - 'Morgenrøde (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)' CD (Avantgarde Music) - £11
This is the soundtrack to the Norwegian post-apocalyptic movie "Morgenrøde".
Musicwise, the isolationist / apocalyptic dark ambient soundtrack was composed and recorded by Ole Petter Sørum.
Minimalist and extremely cold in the choice of sounds, this is not even imaginable as the perfect sound of a nightmare, but what comes after that. "Morgenrøde" ("Dawn") is a Norwegian post-apocalyptic film which takes place at the beginning of a new aeon, in a water polluted world years after a global fall. Surrounded by an endless hazy and drab, bleak desert we follow two survivors who eye each other with the same mutual depraved suspicion as they contemplate their inhospitable surroundings. A mythological chamber play about faith, the beyond and the struggle against dehydration, in the wide-open, post-apocalyptic landscape. Dir. Anders Elsrud Hultgreen. Digipak with 16-page booklet. |
PROFETUS - 'The Sadness Of Time Passing' CD (Avantgarde Music) - £12
Profetus hail from Finland, the cradle of funeral doom metal. "The Sadness Of Time Passing" is their third full-length studio album and took five long years to create. It deals with the concept about time and mortality; a collection of bleak compositions to raise the awareness that everything is transient, all is impermanent. To express such an idea, it can be linked to the Japanese concept "mono no aware", sealed by its cover art. The painting by talented contemporary Japanese painter Yuka Yoshihara, was made using 19th century colours and old Japanese painting techniques to resemble a Finnish romantic, XVII century painting. Recorded during amperiod of great personal loss, Profetus locked the door of their own studio, a wooden lodge in the middle of the Finnish woods, and created the album during one week. The studio, said to be haunted by the spirits of the woods, gave a natural sound to the recordings. Digipak with 12-page booklet. |
PROFETUS - 'The Sadness Of Time Passing' 2 x LP (Avantgarde Music) - £22
Deluxe double vinyl version of the above release. Second pressing. Ltd x 200 copies in a gatefold sleeve. |
RAISON D'ETRE - 'In Sadness, Silence And Solitude (Expanded Edition)' 2 x CD (:retortae:) - £17
"In Sadness, Silence And Solitude", first released in 1997, was the fourth full length album of Raison D'être and remains an astonishing dark ambient industrial masterpiece. Mammoth stone walls stretching high into the unknown, dank cellars strewn with bones and ashes. A chill in the lonely night wind disturbed by the utterance of arcane phrases. This defines the term hauntingly beautiful. Here, "In Sadness, Silence an Solitude" has been considerably expanded with bonus material making up a double disc set featuring unique, previously unreleased compositions, live material and compilation tracks, with everything connected to the same period of time of the original album. Carefully mastered according to the K-14 level standard for the highest possible sound quality. One must experience it to fully comprehend. Ltd x 400 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve with freshly designed artwork. |
RAISON D'ETRE - 'The Empty Hollow Unfolds (Expanded Edition)' CD (:retortae:) - £12.50
The ambience of grim desolation: with "The Empty Hollow Unfolds", originally released in 2000 on Cold Meat Industry, the ubiquitous Peter Andersson continues his exploration of internal desolation, be it of a spiritual base or purely of self. "The Empty Hollow" in question seems to be the soul; a soul that has unfolded into a vast, blasted industrial landscape, littered with warehouse debris that solemnly clatters like wind chimes born of refuge. Bones clang over chain-link fences, metal creaks unsteadily. Bleak is an understatement, as the vast scope of emotions presented here is a sonic lament that lashes the soul. "The Empty Hollow Unfolds" is a grim travelogue from the land where the sun never rises; grievous keyboard passages overlaid by factory noises and the trademark chanting monks turns this into some of the most unsettling listening since the days of Lustmord's "Paradise Disowned". This expanded edition adds two previously unreleased tracks. Carefully mastered according to the K-14 level standard for the highest possible sound quality. Ltd x 400 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve with artwork as per the original release, styled with sombre photos by Martín Pels. |
RAMLEH - 'The Great Unlearning' 2 x CD ( Fourth Dimension) - £16
The double CD version of Ramleh's fantastic new album, first issued as a double LP by Egyptian label Nashazphone in 2019. Taking in all from art rock-saturated post-punk to the kind of blistering and tormented psychedelic noise the group has long forged a reputation for, "The Great Unlearning" proves itself to be the boldest and most definitive statement by the group thus far. It also sees the return of Philip Best (Consumer Electronics, ex-Whitehouse) - along with his partner in CE, Sarah Froelich - alongside the core duo of Gary Mundy (Kleistwahr, S.P.I.T.E., Toll etc) and Anthony Di Franco (JFK, AX, Ethnic Acid, Novatron etc), plus drummers Stuart Dennison and Martyn Watts. Mastered by James Plotkin and presented in a 6-panel gatefold mini-LP digisleeve. |
RAPOON - 'Dark Zero' CD (:retortae:) - £22
Studio album from Robin Storey's (ex-:zoviet*france:) ethno-ambient / ritual / drone project, released on a VERY limited edition CD. "Enigmatic faces stare out from tableaux on walls and caves. Impenetrable and mysterious they haunt the mind. On the last edge of vibration they cross. Unwelcome and uninvited. A murmur in a shadow. A last breath. They have a tendency to walk through walls. Wheels of fire spit flames into the night. A dark road echoes. The stars vanish. A face in darkness shines. A ribbon on a trace weed. The last curl of smoke. Eyes wide and seeing. They came." In 1980 Storey became a founding member of the pioneering industrial group :zoviet*france:, beginning the solo project Rapoon in 1992. Strictly limited to just 100 copies in a laminated full colour digisleeve. |
REUTOFF FEAT. DEUTSCH NEPAL - 'Eating The Dust' LP (:retortae:) - £26
A new collaboration work of two legendary industrial acts - Reutoff, one of the oldest internationally acclaimed Russian projects, and Swedish heavyweight Deutsch Nepal. This album took around a decade to finish and the result is more than perfect. Lina's voice added to the distorted rhythmic atterns dwelling in dark ambient structures. Reutoff bring us the atmosphere of loss, dystopia and despair with some yearning for escape. Not pure industrial noise, in parts it's actually very musical and melodic. This vinyl edition contains two tracks unavailable on CD. Ltd x 100 copies on white vinyl in a matt-laminated sleeve. |
SAOR - 'Forgotten Paths' CD (Avantgarde Music) - £12
The fourth album from Scottish atmospheric black metal / folk outfit SAOR, with grandiose melodies and lush instrumentation evoking the stark beauty, and cold bleakness of the Highlands. "A traditional sway can produce truly beautiful results... Straight in at seismic force, the album sweeps you off your feet and on a journey over the Highlands. There is a distinctly Gaelic feel to the album, particularly the use of powerfully bowed violin and breathy flute, that have a jaunty sing-along melody without ever straying into the unbearably twee. It's a delicate balancing act that SAOR pulls off majestically... An album so densely packed with glorious ideas, so beautifully constructed and intricate, but with enough obvious melody to be accessible, it's quite the wonder. One for fans of Alcest, Opeth and any intellectual music that conveys feeling" (Ghost Cult Mag). Guest Neige (Alcest). 6-panel digipak. |
SIVYJ YAR - 'Grief' CD (Avantgarde Music) - £12
A new album by Russian atmospheric Black Metal lone-star Sivyj Yar. Another grievous and melancholic passage to the rural past of Russia, the poor people, the invisible ones. Sivyj Yar's 6th album has every line sung and written in Russian, but a western translation is also provided. Conceptually it continues from where the previous EP "The Unmourned Past" left off, dealing with "...the grief and aspirations of the Russian peasantry, their endless and sacred tragedy... I consider Russian peasantry to be the main and natural carrier of the old culture, which absorbed the spirit of true (non artificial) paganism". The band further develops their personal approach to blackgaze and post-black metal, with songs lasting more than 10 minutes each and built upon dreamy guitars, longing and melancholic melodies, as well as penetrating shrieks, all combined together to achieve the most organic result. |
TROUM - 'Ryna' 2 x LP (:retortae:) - £29
This is a remastered vinyl version of Troum's long sold out first album from 1998, after the end of Maeror Tri, making this the darkest and most industrial album of the project. The general feel of the sounds here is reminiscent of the earth moving, tectonic plates in constant shuffle, the tracks building and then either shifting or worn away via attrition. Its as if Maeror Tri learned to fly through ingenuity, smoke and mirrors, while Troum has taken the ingenuity, smoke and mirrors and, somehow, grown wings. In addition to the original album unreleased / rare three bonus tracks have been added, all recorded 1997-98. Mastered by Sergey Uak-Kib (Kshatriy). Artwork by Oleg Musin. Ltd x 150 copies in an offset-printed monochrome cardbox which contains both vinyl in separate monochrome inner sleeves. |
ZERESH - 'Farewell' CD (999 Cuts) - £11.50
Disconcerting, atmospheric dark folk, ethereal soundscapes, and experimental noise with a heavy twinge of romanticism, Zeresh is the nom de plume of Israeli artist Tamar Singer. "Zeresh has translated the ineffable and unknowable trials of man into musical landscapes. Kabbhalistic and metaphorical; the only means of portrayal. A gifted work". Includes violin from Sara Krasemann (Darkwood), noises from Michael Zolotov (Kadaver) and additional vocals from Ayelet Rose Gottlieb. Mastered by Ted Tringo (Autumn Tears). Ltd x 300 copies with artwork based on drawings by Odilon Redon. |
VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Drone Islands - The Lost Maps' CD (Eighth Tower Records) - £11.50
Second volume in the Drone Islands series, after the 2019 collection "Drone Islands - Land Rising". "Drone Islands - The Lost Maps" continues Eighth Tower Records' deep explorations into the realm of "droning music". Alongside Cold Spring esoteric Industrial-drone stalwart TUNNELS OF AH, drone ambient music masters like Troum, Rapoon, Schloss Tegal and Autopsia (with Instinct Primal), and well known dark ambient projects like Alphaxone and Taphephobia, this volume presents experimentalists such Simon Balestrazzi (T.A.C., ex-Kirlian Camera), and TraumaTerrestrial, as well extremely interesting young musicians like Martyria, Gaspar Peralta, BedouinDrone, and Bloodkry. Solid realities and new promises is a sign of the best international drone music. Ltd x 200 copies in a digipak. |

MAEROR TRI - 'Language Of Flames And Sound' CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £11
2nd Edition of this album, originally issued by OEC in 1996. Power for the right side of the brain! Our world is dominated by the left brain hemisphere. M.T. supports the theory that it is necessary to stimulate and challenge the right hemisphere in order to get back to an equal activity of the two sides of the brain. This is some of the best Shamanic Meditation music of the industrial era! Maybe the best and most intense Maeror Tri album? Maeror Tri disbanded in 1996, with 2 members going on to form Troum. Comes packed in a special brain-shaped folder in a limited edition of 544 copies. |
NOTUM - 'Nihil Est In Intellectu' CD (Zhelezobeton) - £11
Despite releasing material steadily since 2015, this is the debut full-length album of the Berlin-based project Notum and features a collaborative track with Kryptogen Rundfunk. Although the author himself describes his music as "experimental / free-form", the unwillingness to follow any particular style creates an interesting multiverse in which the listener moves from room to room, sometimes without even noticing how this happens. Noise and shrill frequencies move into relaxing soft piano, totally sinking into a floral drone... jumping into unexpected samples, and rhythms. It all sounds like a psychedelic labyrinth built by a sonic architect with a brisk imagination and a peculiar sense of humour... or a bright morning dream in which scenes are changing in an unpredictable way, completely absorbing the dreamer. The oneiric theme is also emphasized by the incredible artwork created by the Californian artist and musician Matthew Waldron (irr. app. (ext.)). Ltd x 100 copies (pro-CD) in a glossy digisleeve. |
RAISON D'ETRE & TROUM - 'XIBIPIIO - In And Out Of Experience' CD (Transgredient) - £12
The second part of the collaboration that started in 2013. Here all Raison D'etre source material was used, processed and mixed with additional recordings by Troum (guitars, voices, flutes, accordeon, cello, violin, didgeridoo, dombra, tapes, found sounds); sounds completely different than part 1 (De Aeris In Sublunaria Influxu). "Music that reaches for the eternal, but it only exists in the very moment." An essential drone / dark ambient release! Features stunning artwork by MARCIN LOJEK. 6-panel digipak. |
RAMLEH - 'Switch Hitter / The Machines Of Infinite Joy' 10" (Black Rose Recordings) - £11
Powerful droning intensity, motorik rhythms and warped guitar riffs dominate these two songs with one containing Ramleh's distinctive distorted vocals weaving in and out of this inventive chemistry. "Switch Hitter" could almost be described as a full on dissonant rock track, but Ramleh's desire for experimentation and improvisation lifts it way above the general rock mindset. Ramleh have not lost any of their energy, excitement and ability to explore all possibilities. A very welcome return for Anthony Di Franco (Novatron, JFK, AX), Gary Mundy (Kleistwahr, Toll). Presented in a j-card sleeve. Ltd x 500 copies. |
VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Listen To Something Different' CD (Ars Macabre) - £11

MINÓY 'In Search Of Tarkovsky' CD (CSR273CD) £9
OUT 13th MARCH
 |
Minóy (1951-2010), a major figure in DIY noise music, produced some of the most remarkably engrossing, beautiful and imaginative work-of-art albums released on cassette in the 1980's.
Created in 1986, "In Search Of Tarkovsky" is dedicated to the late Russian Director Andrei Tarkovsky ("Solaris", "Stalker", "Andrei Rublev" etc). A unique world of musical expression, with dense audio abstractions where the origin of any particular sound isn't quite discernible. A form of labyrinthian, droning collage electronics, otherworldly and dreamlike, at times nightmarish, at times sad, but always bold and deeply affecting.
Composed after the director's death, it contains many trademarks of Minóy's style: manipulation of shortwave radio, use of spring reverb to get those strangely echoing, claustrophobic environments, and then the howling vocals, piling-up and distorting. Minóy plainly mourns the director's death but in such a unique way there is nothing to compare it to. Two long-form, elaborate pieces (just under 1 hour), essential to Minóy's aesthetic of "cinema of the ear".
This is the first Minóy material ever to be reissued. Unavailable since the original cassette release, these tracks have been remastered from the original archive files and are presented for the first time on CD in a matt-laminate digipak. |

KHOST 'Buried Steel' CD (CSR278CD) £9
OUT 13th MARCH
 |
'Buried Steel' is the fourth album from Birmingham industrial metal duo KHOST, following the 2017 release 'Governance'.
Themes and sonics of 'Buried Steel' range from granite and impassive to dreamlike and somnambulistic, in keeping with the promise - and threat - of the title, dwelling on slow, infallible ruination: a gravitational downthrust upon misshapen monuments and structures which are mangled, overgrown and increasingly forgotten. A monochrome landscape where nature reclaims and redefines us as time passes.
Recording of the album was marred with events such as an electrical fire which damaged some equipment. As a result, a number of tracks on the album had to be pieced together from damaged analogue elements such as reel to reel (Khost reel to reel RIP). From this point, the dynamic of some of the songs was altered, shifting their eventual outcome, particularly the tone of ambient work on Buried Steel.
Guests on 'Buried Steel' include Stephen Mallinder (CABARET VOLTAIRE, WRANGLER), Syan, Eugene Robinson (OXBOW), Manuel Liebeskind, Daniel Buess (16-17, MIR) and Stephen Ah Burroughs (TUNNELS OF AH, ex-HEAD OF DAVID).
CD in 6-panel digipak with artwork contributions from Talitha Bell, Syan and Craig Earp. |

Live: BOW GAMELAN ENSEMBLE |
"Heart Beat Ear Drum" is a feature length documentary about the late artist and musician Z'EV (1951-2017), known for his punk era scrap metal music - an extraordinary range of acoustic phenomena resulting in trance-inducing sounds.
This documentary shows how his music changed and grew and how his personal journey led him to the margins of art and the depths of heart. From 2007-2015, director Ellen Zweig followed Z'EV, shooting concerts and interviews, and collecting archival footage. In addition to interviews with Z'EV, there are interviews with a community of artists who have known him since the 1970's, curators who have encountered him in the 1990's, and younger people who have only heard his recorded music or read his philosophical texts (Bob Bellerue, Bow Gamelan Ensemble, HATI, Barbara Stevini, Simone Forti, Zach Layton, Carl Stone, Ned Subslette, Johanna Went and more).

Cold Spring are proud to announce the long-awaited reissue of Coil's 1992 album, presented on CD and, for the first time, on vinyl. "Stolen & Contaminated Songs" was recorded and produced by Coil in 1992. It is comprised of over 60 minutes of outtakes and unreleased songs, evolved during the recording sessions for their prior album, "Love's Secret Domain". A wealth of superb material showcasing the diversity of Coil: dark, violent, vivid and fractured, yet cohesive and beautiful. Combined with the latest studio technology and Coil's ever-evolving production skills, "S&C Songs" walks a fine line between tradition and innovation, continually creating semi-abstract soundscapes with a cinematic quality.
CD in glossy digipak. Double LP on sumptuous 180gm vinyl, housed in a glossy 350gsm gatefold sleeve:

Originally released by Side Effects in 1986, "Zamia Lehmanni" was the third (and final) core SPK album and was Graeme Revell's first truly solo project. He was in a period of transition, somewhere between the industrial noise of the early years and his later award-winning soundtrack work. On the day before this was first released, this style of music, now ubiquitous (especially in soundtracks), did not exist.
After "Information Overload Unit" cleared a space for subsequent explorations, and the environmental percussion and anchored mutilated sound collages of "Leichenschrei", the "body without organs" was fully eviscerated. Graeme felt 'industrial music' was becoming ossified and needed to be taken into radically new territories: 'post-industrial'.
The track "In Flagrante Delicto" (mastered as originally intended here) was later used by Revell for his work on the soundtrack for the 1989 film "Dead Calm", which won him Best Original Score from the Australian Film Institute.
Unavailable in any format since Mute's 1992 CD edition, we now present this landmark album on newly remastered CD, and on vinyl for the first time since 1986. Approved by Graham Revell, this release comes with new artwork by Abby Helasdottir and is remastered by Martin Bowes (The Cage). Features new liner notes from Graeme Revell, 2019.
LP on sumptuous 180gm black or limited edition of 500 copies on gold vinyl, presented in a 350gsm gatefold sleeve.

Cold Spring are proud to announce the official release of the soundtrack to Lars Von Trier's controversial film 'Antichrist', available on physical format for the first time. Ten years after the film's initial release, the extreme, provocative performances from Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg in 'Antichrist' still have the power to shock, repulse and divide.
The sound design by Kristian Eidnes Andersen with Lars Von Trier, was composed using only natural sounds and samples (including internal body recordings). Each element was recorded specifically for the film and overseen by Von Trier, including a brand new, sombre performance of Händel's 'Lascia Ch'io Pianga', recorded in Kastelskirken church in Copenhagen, 2009.
Pressed onto heavyweight 180 gram vinyl with an etched B-Side. 12" 'Eden Olive' Coloured Etched Vinyl is ltd x 250 copies, via Cold Spring only. Housed in a heavy 350gsm full colour sleeve featuring the original theatrical release artwork, approved by the Director.
Award winning Danish composer Kristian Eidnes Andersen has produced music and sound design for films, television and documentaries for 30 years, notably working with Lars Von Trier on the films Antichrist, The House That Jack Built, Dancer In The Dark, Melancholia, and Nymphomaniac (Vol I & II). Kristian on IMDB.
ANTICHRIST: A grieving couple retreat to their cabin in the woods, hoping to repair their broken hearts and troubled marriage, but nature takes its course and things go from bad to worse. Nature Is Satan's Church. When nature turns evil, true terror awaits and chaos reigns. |

Trepaneringsritualen return to Cold Spring with an album-long ritual working entitled ᛉᛣ - Algir; eller Algir i Merkstave. On this record - constructed from a series of rituals designated to guide the last ceasing of ᛏᛇᚱᚫ ᚾ ∴ ᚾ ∴ ᚾ - T × R × P is manifest in its most obscure form. Sonically minimal yet devastating in emotional impact, this working lets the listener grasp the last vestiges of Nifl and Múspell, and with them as weapon and beacon traverse the Night. ᛉᛣ reveals a barren landscape where crooked paths lead onward, through soot black veils to a point of radiant light where all that is is Union & Dissolution.
Dedicated to our sister, ᛏᛇᚱᚫ ᚾ ∴ ᚾ ∴ ᚾ.

THE TELESCOPES 'Stone Tape' CD (CSR267CD) - £10.50
OUT NOW!
 |
The 10th album from The Telescopes is full of wall-to-wall psychedelic drones, swaying chants, trance-inducing shoegaze and "suspended-in-space magnificence" (Julian Cope). Stone Tape is a concept album inspired by "Stone Tape Theory" (or "residual haunting"), theorized by Thomas Charles Lethbridge in 1961. The archaeologist, parapsychologist and explorer developed the idea that inanimate materials can absorb energy from living beings, and that this mental electrical energy, released during emotional or traumatic events, could somehow be "stored" in such materials and "reproduced" under certain conditions. The hypothesis has been known as "Stone Tape Theory" since the cult 1972 TV screenplay "Stone Tape" by Nigel Neale.
This CD edition contains a bonus 14-minute version of the track 'The Living Things', recorded in Switzerland in 2018.
Presented in a digipak with new artwork by Stephen Lawrie.
"Close your eyes for added effect and hit repeat - by the end of round 3 you'll be hitting the peyote sands of shamanic trance territory" (Louder Than War). |

Égrégore is a ritual collaboration between B.S.s. (Common Eider, King Eider) and Arexis (La Breiche, Coume Ouarnede, Stille Volk)... and all of the spirits of the Pyrenees present during those Dark Moon Rituals, wishing to speak. Born under May's New Dark Moon in 2018, born in secrecy, in darkness, in Ritual. Born in a tiny cabin in the Pyrenees of France... Rituals documented late into the night and early morning hours. Voices captured whispering, wailing, lashing out. Bells ring to both banish and invoke. Recorded live using electronics, rocks, antler, branches and voice. Four offerings given as gifts to the black air... the burnt soil... Gifts to the Spirits living in those forests and mountains of the Pyrenees. Dark moon folk magic... Housed in a beautiful matte-laminate gatefold ecopak, with visuals prepared by Kevin Gan Yuen (Sutekh Hexen). |

LLYN Y CWN 'TWLL DU' CD (CSR254CD) - £11
OUT NOW!
 |
Twll Du ('Black Hole') is an ominous dark ambient journey through vast atmospheric landscapes. Each beautifully crafted opus is based on a bespoke field recording and is named after an area of Cwm Idwal, home of the Twll Du. Swelling, monolithic drones reveal the majestic power of the mountains. The music conveys an immersive atmosphere and is intended to be played as the listener falls into a deep sleep. Llyn Y Cwn ('Lake Of The Dogs) is a small lake at 715m in the Glyder mountain range of Snowdonia, North Wales. The Devil's Kitchen is the name given to the dark, black crack which splits the rock of Clogwyn y Geifr ('Cliff Of The Goat') between Y Garn and Glyder Fawr. The Welsh name for Devil's Kitchen is Twll Du, meaning 'black hole', because of the plume of steam that is often seen rising from the crack resembling a chimney. It's said when steam can be seen rising from the chimney, the Devil is cooking. File next to fellow Welshman Lustmord. Presented in a 6-panel digipak with breathtaking photography by the artist. |

KOLLAPS 'MECHANICAL CHRIST' CD / LP / T-SHIRT / LONGSLEEVE SHIRT (CSR269CD/LP/TS/LS)
OUT NOW!
 |
Australian post-industrialists KOLLAPS are a three piece creating a unique brand of primitive noise "intended for degenerates and outsiders". The bands' distinctive primordial tones are created using appropriated waste materials like scrap metal, raw plastics and steel plates combined with blistering percussion, bass and vocals. This is no empty "industrial" gesture, for the band this process of creation facilitates the literal use of postmodern society against itself. Mechanical Christ, the bands' sophomore release, is a conceptual continuation of its predecessor Sibling Lovers. This release sees Kollaps further their exploration of the inherent societal sickness of our times, one that manifests itself in the debasement of individual morality. Themes of exploitation, vengeance, drug addiction, paranoia and slave labour are part of a dissonant, inverted morality play. Testament to the bands' evolving conceptual depth are the overarching themes of love, life and death that offer a sense of shared experience in the discomfort of the universal human experience. Known for their violent and nihilistic stage performances, this recording encapsulates with harsher clarity the visceral confrontation that is Kollaps' live act. Mechanical Christ was recorded and mixed over a two-month period at Aviary Studios by Mike Deslandes, and mastered by James Plotkin/Plotkinworks. A journey into the desperation and lack of resolve that is both the crux of modern social ills and at the very heart of the human condition.

THE NEW BLOCKADERS 'LIVE AT SONIC CITY' CD & DVD (CSR261CD) - £15.50
OUT NOW!
|
Live At Sonic City includes an audio / visual document of TNB's last ever live performance which took place at the Thurston Moore-curated Sonic City festival in Kortrijk, Belgium in 2017. TNB served as a major influence on legendary Noise pioneers such as Merzbow and their influence on the current crop of popular crossover Noise artists such as Wolf Eyes is immeasurable. TNB's performance at Sonic City can best be described as a noise symphony: metal-bashing and grinding, hammering, eviscerating microphone feedback, torrents of glorious mangle and harsh electronics all skilfully blended with a collage of manifold sounds and dynamics. Far from being a typical Noise show, TNB's performance (if it can be described as such) contained elements of absurdist theatre and performance art, although I'm sure TNB would be loathe to be described as such. A magnificent display of The Art Of Noise, TNB as defiant as ever in their total rejection of everything. "For optimal enjoyment we recommend that this DVD be viewed with no sound". CD & DVD in 6-panel digipak. |
