The early tape material power electronics associations of Ashley C are gone. This Danish project has been progressing and conquering new territories of sound. "Timeless Reality" is an interesting study of the less noisy and less harsh side of electronics and scrap metal. It's coarse in fidelity, creating a nearly suffocating atmosphere, yet delicate and detailed with a rich texture that evolves from one song to another.

Norway, 1994. Lasse Marhaug has yet to start working under his own name. An obscure short lived project just before that, titled Egoproblem, releases one 20 minute tape and performs one live gig. This CD collects those materials, presenting the most straight forward industrial / power electronics works of Lasse Marhaug. 40 minutes of simple but effective works full of hard tones and metal banging. This album is dedicated to the 600th Anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald (Tannenberg), fought on 15 July 1410, during the Polish-Lithuanian-Teutonic War. The alliance of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania decisively defeated the Teutonic Knights, with most of their leadership killed or taken prisoner. This battle was one of the largest battles in Medieval Europe and is regarded as the most important victory in the history of Poland and Lithuania. It was surrounded by romantic legends and nationalistic propaganda, becoming a larger symbol of struggle against invaders and a source of national pride. Mastered by Axel Frank (Werkraum). MERZBOW - 'Live At Henie Onstad Art Centre' CD (Prisma Records)

Merzbow performed at the Henie Onstad Art Centre on October 11th 2009. This performance was for the exhibition ”Kurt Schwitters in Norway”. Since Akita has sited Kurt Schwitters as one of his main influences for his music, and took his name from Schwitters’ Merzbau sculpture, it was a natural choice to have Merzbow perform at the centre on the opening weekend of the exhibition. The complete 40 minute performance is presented here. Musically this is classic Merzbow; hypnotic loops, layers of white noise and massive sweeps of sonic overload. Akita performed using two computers, synthesizer, custom-made metal objects and a host of effect pedals. The CD is mixed and mastered by Lasse Marhaug and the inner sleeve features a unique photo of Masami Akita inside Scwitters’ Merzbau. Merzbow in Merzbau.

These recordings span the years 1986 to 1988 when, while still a schoolboy, Anthony was carving out a singular identity as a electronic / acoustic noise musician recording for labels such as Broken Flag and Birthbiter. Obscure and arcane, this music has only been available to the most dedicated hardcore noise fanatics - until now. |

But by culling the best tarnished gems from cassettes and compilations, "Meditamentum I" becomes a seamless, darkly grand proclamation of the wordless beauty and sorrow that was Maeror Tri. This album is probably the more ambient of any other Maeror Tri release, going for more textural guitar and drift than the rumbling, backwards-chord sound. Comes in a brown cardboard envelope with embroidered cloth banderole with the MT wheel logo, four-page booklet inside inspired by rough layouts of cassette-years past gives plenty of text to absorb with the sounds.
