Industrial drone and suffocating death electronics from the artist formerly known as Pestdemon. Listening to Arkhe's new 7", it's obvious that the sinister forces conjured by the recent Malmö compilation "Elbogen Fonogram" have by no means been exorcised. Stripping down his already austere sound, the two side-length tracks draw upon a raw minimalist palette overblown to the point of suffocation. These are unrelentingly rectangular waveforms. The exceptional new album by Asmus Tietchens. Corrosion is a degradation mechanism. It is an insidious process often difficult to recognise until deterioration is well advanced. Are these new pieces a comment on the current state of noise music, serious music or both? As a pioneer of electronic composition his work spans over three decades and doesn’t fit easily into any one category. Early recordings ranged from experiments with tape machines and electronic sound through to experimental pop. Later works were a more sculptural blend of abstract micro-electronics, industrial sounds and musique concrete. Digipak.

Reissue of this historical cult album, first released in 1991, from one of the pioneers of Industrial. The music of Autopsia oscillates from romanticism to avantgarde, from bizarre to sublime simplicity, from coldness to warmth, from exclusiveness to popularity. The songs of Autopsia are wanderer songs. "Palladium leads us to great gates, gates through which there is no passing-by. They lead to great moments, when views into a depth of dark abysses open, in which, one day, staggering, we have to plunge ourselves.
Palladium is a declaration of the end - or perhaps the announcement of the beginning? Completely remastered with 4 additional bonus, rare and unreleased tracks. Digipak.

Originally released in 2005, this 2CD box includes the original album and the MCD with five extra tracks, turning the 2nd disc into an additional full length release. Dedicated to Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, the Russian pioneer of astronautic theory, the key element in Bad Sector's music was brought into the foreground with this release. Original Soviet sound devices like the Aelita synthesizer and the electro-optical ANS (which Coil also worked with) were mixed with heavily processed sources from space missions, adding an unearthly human dialogue to the electronics. The sounds on "Kosmodrom" are deep and droning, pulsating and constantly flowing with processed rhythmic sequences, supported by a bed of radio signal recordings. A timeless masterpiece of deep ambient electronica! Comes in a clam-box with 12-page booklet.

CONTROL - 'The Resistance' CD (Ant-Zen)

Control is Thomas Garrison. What emerges Control in the power noise category is his obviously strong ability to construct tracks that are extremely aggressive, but with shifts that create contrast and texture rather than just constant attack: the produced tracks are memorable and deeply loaded. "The Resistance" offers a good balance of densely layered forceful electronics with dark ambient undercurrents, occasionally rhythmic pulses and offensive vocals filtered through diverging effects. The voice is never used as an overbearance or focal point, but as one of the many aural textures. Control never sacrifices the music or the emotional weight on the altar of rhetoric - it is his intention to arouse the listener with almost cinematic moods, creating a sonic environment where nothing good seems possible for people who might inhabit it. Control's passion for detail means full focus is required - a must for maximum appreciation.

Frosty, astral, hypnotic, Polish doom metal. 40 minutes of hypnotic space trip in five parts. With a sound that sits squarely in the huge gap between the prog days of yore, and the melancholic doom stylings of today, you would be hard pressed to find any other way to get from A to Z without traversing the entire galaxy in between. What Gallileous have done here is to infuse the new with the old, or the old with the new. Once you've completed your journey through the cosmos, which takes roughly 45 minutes, you may feel a sort of emptiness that will only be cured with another trip. Re-issue of this early IF, BWANA cassette (1987, Sound Of Pig). "They Call Me Bwana" uses more "classical" elements in an industrialized, improvised, tape-collaged way. Al Margolis' artistry in tape manipulation creates moods akin to Pierre Schaeffer on a downer. He combines many instruments (acoustic and electronic) with synths and vocal samples at a heightened level of creativity. JOHN AVERY - 'Club Of No Regrets' CD (Forced Nostalgia / Plague Recordings)

John Avery’s previously unreleased soundtrack to the theatre performance ‘Club Of No Regrets’, produced by Sheffield’s Forced Entertainment. The whole piece was created over the course of three years between 1990-1992 using an “untameable” piano, Hammond Organ, Casio FZ-1 and CZ-101 and conjures eleven brooding themes reflecting the 1993 play’s lucid sci-fi fairytale feel. The production here is bolstered by a robust digital palette, apart from one sombre piano piece, and spans a range of atmospheres from dense, paranoid psychedelia, religious ambience, through unheimlich sci-fi horror. LUSTMORD - 'Rising' CD (Ant-Zen) - £13 |

Legendary sound artist Lustmord (Brian Williams) has created a sound that created and epitomizes the sub-genre of dark ambient. "Rising" was captured live at the Church Of Satan's High Mass, Los Angeles, 6 June 2006, with no additional overdubs or post-production. The performance drew on material from various Lustmord albums, melded and blended into new combinations, as well as new material and improvisation. The initial release of "Rising" in 2006 also marked the 25th anniversary of Lustmord. While the compositions are structured around the three "greater magic" elements of a satanic mass, they are not dependent on same for context and meaning, and as such can provide a background for deep contemplation and, in some cases, relaxation. A dark ambient triumph, an evocative and challenging work that will not disappoint those with open minds. Packaged in a heavy gatefold card sleeve with anthracite print and silver foil lettering.

A classic, much revered album, "The Monstrous Soul" was conceived in Sheffield in 1990 by Lustmord (aka Brian Williams) and Clock DVA founder Adi Newton. A deliberately minimal recording. An hour long soundscape best described as a journey through a frozen hell. The five songs contained revel in a sort of restrained melodrama, packed with horror movie samples and apocalyptic tensions. This 3LP Box-Set presented by the godfather of the genre of Dark Ambient/Industrial, B. Lustmord, putting into its focus the very early works recorded between 1980-83 including previously unreleased material and the very first Lustmord recording of all, in it's primitive glory. LP1 is a remastered version of Lustmord's first and very sought after LP release on Nocturnal Emissions' Sterile Records. LP2 delivers en early version of a track from the first LP plus intense live recordings from 1981. LP3 provides several unreleased recordings from 1980-83, including one with John Balance, plus compilation tracks from various Cassette Culture labels of that period including Third Mind's "Rising from the Red Sand". Philadelphia native Rob Francisco has finally put together his debut album as M Ax Noi Mach. A notorious live performer, capable of whipping even the most dormant crowd into a frenzy, Francisco has finally managed to capture that intensity on record, with gnarly anthems at his disposal. For the uninitiated, imagine the vitriol of Macronympha with a massive homemade Baltimore Club sound system pumping out thuggish beats. It's not all sheer power though, as M Ax Noi Mach conjures the icy discomfort of Sleep Chamber, German Shepherds and GPJ. Truly a unified statement, 'In the Shadows' is a contemporary noise album unlike any other. Ltd x 406 copies.

CD re-release of the 2008 album "Core" (originally CDR). Classic Scandinavian death industrial / dark ambient in the best CMI tradition. MFH was a duo comprising David Elliott and Andrew Cox (later known as Pump), and some of you will remember them from their appearance on the legendary "The Elephant Table Album". Their music shared more common ground with the German avant-garde than with many of MFH's wilfully industrial contemporaries. What we have here are 19 instrumental, or at least non-vocal tracks culled from the five cassettes released by MFH - all quite atmospheric and with a clear love of improvised sound composition. Even at their most abstract and atonal, MFH made great use of repetition and texture to create something which draws you in. These pieces might best be approached as abstract paintings in sound.

"The Dromopoda Transmissions" can be considered one of the most complex and strange recordings in Sweden's most prolific experimental artist Henrik Nordvargr Björkk's career. The recordings are made up of field recordings (amplified sounds from insects and nature), radio transmissions and improvised electronic soundscapes that all come together to create a suffocating wall of sounds you have never heard before. Cold and desolate sonic landscapes that lets your imagination paint pictures of a bleak future. To expand the impressions from the music this release also comes with a DVD full of imagery to guide you deeper into this journey. In 2012, Pierre Jolivet (Pacific 231) and Philippe Blanchard (Lieutenant Caramel) made a voyage to the Middle East and found themselves in Beirut at the invitation of Sharif Sehnaoui, a well known experimental guitarist, composer and contemporary artist who brought the art of noise to Lebanon for many years. The duo made some field recordings and returned to studio work that took 3 years, to share with us their wonderful impressions converted in surrealist musical forms. Roughly 50 minutes of monolithic riffs from this mysterious Rome 5-piece. "Secta" immerses the listener into an abyss of dark psychedelic sounds and ritualistic atmospheres. They take a lot of inspiration for their unique sound from genres such as doom, black metal and the 70s psychedelic scene, hence their music can be best described as a mix of hypnotic sounds and esoteric themes that guide the listener towards the left hand path. "Secta" is a heavier, atmospheric journey, through the alchemy and his secret language and signs. From lead to silver and gold, to reach the truth. Uruk-Hai create epic compositions imbued with the spirit of ancient tales, soaked in spirit of bloody battles or beauty of fairy worlds where the dreamy author's nature tries to get with the help of rich fantasy. On the one hand, it has the black metal rawness and rage of Burzum , on another fantasy-like "otherworldlyness". When many adherents of "black ambient" play on two-three synth keys, Wieser manages to compose simple but heart-stirring electronic symphonies. Two long soundscapes made of roughly recorded industrial and machinery noises (sometimes reaching the levels of power electronics), metallic percussion and sampled fragments of Soviet movies and gramophone records. The sonic flow in a mine worker's mind, suffering from long sleep deprivation and claustrophobia in heavy conditions of work below ground. Ltd x 300 copies.

And the album title means “nothing from nothing” – a very weird notion, as it doesn’t exist anymore in actual German language.
