Needles Into the Ground contains material by Khost which has been elementally transformed by Justin Broadrick of Godflesh. The original Khost material – taken from their second album Corrosive Shroud – is dense, multifaceted and purgatorial with no straightforward ‘stems' based approach. Broadrick has extracted what he needed for his work whilst in pure Godflesh mode. As a result, the outcome is claustrophobic and frenetic, the experience akin to being in the proximity of a large, unstable machine on the verge of meltdown. The sound is obviously raw, but it seems to fit the absolutely heinous nature of the material... ROTUGF, is a blackened grindcore act who approach the listener with force, fire and absolute insanity... an entirely interesting grindcore act with enough depth and originality to stand out among their peers. I need to reiterate that these guys are completely f**king insane as far as the performance is concerned and the complete polar opposite of what we’re seeing portrayed as Japanese heavy music as far as the media is concerned. 10/10" (The Grim Tower). The Russolo competition is one of the most prestigious contests for electro-acoustic composition. It began in 1979 as homage to the painter and composer Luigi Russolo, one of the founders of noise music. Initially and over 40 years, the Concorso Internazionale Luigi Rusolo, was organised by Gian Franco Maffina and Rossana Maggia at the Fundazione Russolo-Pratella (Varèse). First released by New Era Productions (2009), this demonic, disturbing album gets a vinyl reissue. From the ashes of Stalaggh begins the Gulaggh trilogy. A soulripping piece of audio terror. The most disturbing piece so far by these musical avant-garders. This time they used mostly classical instruments (violins, trumpets, saxophones etc). For vocals they used more mental patients than ever before, including over 30 screaming children from a Youth Mental Hospital! Ltd x 250 copies on grey vinyl. |
