AMPLEXUS - 'Necessary Intercourses' CD (Karo Productions) - £11
Amplexus is a raw unforgiving barrage of harsh noise as one might expect from two well-known figures of the noise world (Leo Sabatto of Macronympha / Armenia and a well known noise legend, alongside lots of uncredited collaborators). There is definitely some shared territory with this new era, though the project is fully capable of standing on its own. 8 indecipherable tracks... short shifts of harsh noise blasts disrupted by ear-splitting feedback blend together to form the basis of most of Amplexus' work though something is going on in the background that causes this project to pull away from the competition. |
ARMENIA - 'Necropolis' LP (Karo Productions) - £18
Latest full-length of this legendary anti-music project by the Ecuadorian harsh noiser Leonardo Sabatto (Macronympha / Amplexus). As those aware of the sound mania of Armenia can attest, you won't find anything here but noise and more noise, noise and anti-music. Recorded during the pandemic in 2020 and mastered in Switzerland, needless to say, this is a true jewel of misanthropic harsh noise. Armenia has been embedded primarily in the Americanoise scene for many years and active on the international noise mail circuit since back in the '90s. Ltd x 100 copies on 180g gold vinyl in a 350gr heavy sleeve, with A3 poster and insert. |
ARMENIA - 'Omnis Anima Malus' CD (Karo Productions) - £11
"Omnis Anima Malus" is the blistering new album from Ecuadorian noise stalwart Armenia (aka Leo Sabatto of Macronympha / Amplexus) recorded March-June 2020 at La Libertad, Guayaquil. Nine tracks of splintered harsh textures, like sheets of tectonic noise plates grating over a rumbling bass magma. Armenia has been embedded primarily in the Americanoise scene for many years and active on the international noise mail circuit since back in the '90s. |
BOMB THE DAYNURSERY (BRIGHTER DEATH NOW) - 'Primitive Perversions 1981-83' 4 x LP Boxset (Cold Meat Industry) - £70
"Primitive Perversions" documents the early tape experiments of Roger Karmanik, created under the name Bomb The Daynursery, and others. The project precedes his work with Lille Roger, Brighter Death Now & Cold Meat Industry.
The material dates back some 40 years, to the perverted teenhood of 1980, where expressive experimentations, visuals and sounds began. Tape loops, cut-ups, found objects, radio frequencies, vocals - whatever was at hand and could be used as sonic weaponry. We can easily recognise the roots of what became the notorious sound of both Lille Roger and BDN. Sourced from unearthed mouldy cassettes buried underneath layers of well-thumbed seedy adult mags and shredded true crime periodicals. Despite forty years having passed since these electronic ej*culations were caught on tape, "Primitive Perversions" has aged with dignity. This is both a unique historical document of early industrial music as well a reminder of the fact that Karmanik has never compromised or weakened in his anarchic artistic vision, constancy and cruel passion. 37 tracks with a total play time around 2.5hrs.
Ltd x 300 copies in a sealed boxset with download code. |
FRANCISCO LÓPEZ - 'Animast' LP (Ferns Recordings) - £20
Few albums would be as fitting for vinyl release as this one. Drawing on both analogue material and digital immaterial undisclosed sources, "Animast" plays with the sonic textures and responses most suited for the characteristics of this particular analogue medium: noisy crispness, compositional loopiness, contrasting sharp and thick textures and cycling dynamics. Two side-long tracks (untitled, as always with López), created at 'Mobile Messor' in: Anatananarivo, Dublin, Madrid, Den Haag, Loosduinen, Paris, Valencia, Oslo, Venice, 2018-2019. Ltd x 200 copies. |
HIMUKALT - 'Dreaming Of A Dead Girl' LP (Tesco Organisation) - £25
Himukalt was born from the obsession, addiction, and the impure thoughts of American noise artist Ester Kärkkäinen. Her impulse for self-destruction, co-mingles with self-discovery, as she confesses broken tales about sex work, manic-depression, social anxiety, dysphoria and psychic parasites. She swaddles those appropriations from her life and those around her in the aestheticized violence of power electronics and a death industrial negativity, similar to that of Lille Roger, or Atrax Morgue.
If facets from Kärkkäinen's earlier albums gave you a glimpse of seeing the world of sex workers, "Dreaming Of A Dead Girl" lets you inside to feel their world. Clandestine, this is a door you close behind you. Through torment and despair, in darkness, a finality dissolves through hope. Metallic fluttering and empty thuds of disregarded heartbeats transmute sounds at times more substantive than the soiled words you are hearing. Yet, in the end, through all the purring, scrambled anxiety, I feel like the defiled have assumed control. Even if just by mentally disconnecting from the physical acts and escaping back, all alone, to a fractured inner psyche "an agony that tore her in two". Ltd x 300 copies with download code. |
JOE COLLEY - 'Psychic Stress Soundtracks' 2 x LP (Misanthropic Agenda) - £26
First time vinyl pressing of Joe Colley's Prix Ars Electronica award-winning album, originally released in 2005 on CD (Antifrost). Failure, self-loathing and abject monstrosity continue unabated as the primary themes for Joe Colley's electro-shock minimalism. as with his previous, equally impressive "Desperate Attempts At Beauty", he shifts through a seemingly endless supply of antiquated electric gear and forces these dilapidated machines to grind, crush, whirl and twist under conditions they were not originally designed for. On "Psychic Stress Soundtracks", Colley astutely transcribes the machines' smouldering march to oblivion, granting them the emphatic capacity for pain and the recognition of existential despair. The ozone smell of melting circuity lingers above the nervous Geiger counter clicks and toxic hums of his electric dynamos. Colley is a gifted, if sometimes under-appreciated composer whose successes rely upon the manifestation of the paradox of building something extraordinary out of junk. Mastered for vinyl by Giuseppe Ielasi, packaged in a gatefold jacket with expanded artwork.

JULIEN HÉRAUD - 'Hidden Parasites' CD (Ferns Recordings) - £11.50
The new album from Nantes electroacoustic artist Julien Héraud. "Héraud employs the collage method for his compositions. I can imagine that a more significant portion of his sound sources stems from the world of field recordings and that insect sounds have a strong preference... Maybe using the word 'parasites' in the title guided me to that thought. In his pieces, Héraud likes a certain harshness combined with drones, and a minimal development is part and parcel of the music. I immensely enjoyed his approach towards worn-out paths of ambient, drones, and field recordings. There is room for brittle tones in the configurations cooked up by Héraud, but nothing overtly harsh or strange, and a cruder user of field recordings than most others would do. The element of collage guarantees that this release has an astounding amount of variations to offer. This is a most pleasurable release and a new name to watch out for" (Vital Weekly). Ltd x 100 copies in a digipak. |
KONTINENT - 'Stasis' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
Kontinent is half of Polish Power Electronics duo Kevlar, but Kontinent's solo work is not any less powerful than his mother band. Disbanded in 2019, this is the first ever CD reissue of this seminal album, previously released on tape and vinyl courtesy of Unrest Productions (2017). "Stasis" is Power Electronics in its purest form. If you're a connoisseur of the genre, you know what to expect. 8 tracks of brain welding, crunchy distortions on both high and low frequencies mixed with angry vocals. Demanding and rewarding in its extreme as there is a lot more than "meets the ear". Kontinent seems to capture the essence of negativity - be it fear or anger and channel it in the great walls of noise that flush over your body and mind with cathartic effect. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
LINEKRAFT - 'Asura' LP (Tesco Organisation) - £25
"I am the "horse bone", don’t know why I am alive. Not ruin others, but ruin myself. Human will exists inside of himself. It doesn't exist outside". 9th February 1932 (The League of Blood Incident): A young nationalist from the farming village in Ibaraki prefecture shot and killed the former finance minister Junnosuke Inoue. He was heading for Komamoto elementary school in Hongo, Tokyo city, to attend a campaign rally. Then the life expectancy in Japan was 44.8 for men and 46.5 for women. Individual versus individual. Nation versus nation. One ethnic group versus the other. The conflict lead people to the struggle: the world of the Asuras. Not to ruin others, but to ruin himself. The young man reached there to change his inner thoughts through his own death. This incident inspired the central plot of Yukio Mishima's novel "Runaway Horses". This is Japanese industrial harsh noise / Power Electronics from Linekraft (aka Masahiko Okubo of MOTHRA / metal percussionist with GRIM), recording the pure human act. Ltd x 200 hand-numbered copies with two A4 heavy card inserts and download code. |
NOTHING HAS CHANGED - 'Hissing Guilt' CD (Zoharum / Old Temple) - £11.50
Nothing Has Changed is a solo project of Michal Kielbasa of industrial metal band Whalesong (FFO Godflesh).
Strongly influenced by British electronics, the music here is dark and caustic, heavy in low end mutations of garage / grime / juke / jungle, sometimes even dub.
Across 10 compositions we get a very original industrialesque take on broken beats and bass music (Imaginary Forces / Basic Rhythm comes to mind). Going deeper, the album brings even echoes of FSOL with its sultry, dense atmospheres and illbient feel.
"Hissing Guilt" is oriented for open-minded and demanding dancefloors. Original, bass heavy, hard hitting, bleak and doom driven. Ltd x 400 copies in a digipak. |
OF THE WAND AND THE MOON - 'The Lone Descent' 2 x LP BLACK (Heiðrunar Myrkrunar) - £32
Double black vinyl reissue of this classic OTWATM album. Kim Larsen takes a different road to the previous albums on this 5th full-length - 60's influenced, where the love for Lee Hazlewood and Serge Gainsbourg shines through. Still keeping the dark Neofolk roots, "The Lone Descent" is without doubt the most bleak and melancholic album from Of The Wand & The Moon, and clearly shows Larsen's brilliant talent as a singer/songwriter. Features guests: Lorenzo Woodrose (Baby Woodrose), Aron, Soma Allpass (Mew, Martin Hall), Bo Rande (The William Blakes, Mew, Blue Foundation), John Murphy (Death In June, Knifeladder, SPK), John van der Lieth (Sonne Hagal) and Anne Eltard (Solanaceae, OTWATM). Comes in a very nice spot-varnished foldout cover with inlay and download code.
Vinyl pressed with a new vinyl master made by Robert Ferbrache. |
OF THE WAND AND THE MOON - 'The Lone Descent' 2 x LP TRI-COLOUR (Heiðrunar Myrkrunar) - £36
Special 'tri-colour' (orange / brown / white) double vinyl reissue of the above release. Ltd x 500 copies in a very nice spot-varnished foldout cover with inlay and download code.
Vinyl pressed with a new vinyl master made by Robert Ferbrache. |
PHILIPPE D'ARAM - 'La Morte Vivante (The Living Dead Girl) O.S.T.' ETCHED LP (Specific) - £16
Original Soundtrack to Jean Rollin's 1982 horror film La Morte Vivante (The Living Dead Girl). "A girl is resurrected from the dead when two thieves break into a crypt trying to dump some toxic industrial waste. The girl needs blood to survive and kills the thieves and wanders out of the crypt. Her vague memories of her previous life lead her home where she continues to kill in order to feed her blood-lust, but as the film progresses she becomes more and more aware of her humanity and realizes that she is in limbo, and acting like a monster. This is a brutal film where the camera doesn't shy away from the blood and guts". Philippe D'Aram's soundtrack for La Morte Vivante is in a similar vein to his work on Fascination and it feels like a natural extension (which is no bad thing). The score is primarily synthesizer based and features slow moving and eerie drone compositions, melancholic violins and cellos, and one guitar and synth based track. Presented on black as night super limited one-sided laser-etched 180g vinyl. |
POSITION BABY DOLL (POSITION PARALLELE + DEUTSCH NEPAL) - 'Position Baby Doll' 12" (Silences Et Gresillements) - £22
A collaboration between Sweden's Deutsch Nepal (aka Lina Baby Doll / Peter Andersson) and France's Position Parallèle (aka Geoffroy Delacroix of Dernière Volonté). 6 sweet, catchy, minimal electro tracks, running the gamut of Pasolini, Fairy Tales and Dead Dogs... Ltd x 300 copies on baby pink vinyl with digital download code. |
RAPOON & PACIFIC 231 - 'Palestine' LP + CD (Zoharum) - £25
"Palestine" was the first collaboration between two titans of the industrial and underground music scene: Pierre Jolivet (Pacific 231) and Robin Storey (Rapoon, Zoviet France). Originally released as limited CD in 2007 by Old Europa Cafe and "Dedicated to the struggling Palestinian Nation and to the memory of Bryn Jones 1961-1999". Given that "Palestine" is dedicated to Muslimgauze and Israeli-Palestinian conflict it's easy to predict what you'll find here. Each side of the record presents the artists' take on middle eastern rhythms and sound. Side A is raw. For over 20 minutes Jolivet focuses on subtle processing over hypnotic distorted drum loops. On side B Storey takes us on a long, IDM-ish trip following what seems to be Muezzin call. The accompanying extended CD contains additional 3 rare tracks that were taken from the limited Old Europa Cafe version of the album and Pacific's "el-Arish" business card CD. This album is as important due to the subject it touches as it's true and uncompromising and is still relevant now as it was in the time of its creation. Remastered by Robin Storey. Ltd x 300 copies on 180g transparent red vinyl, with CD in card sleeve. |
RIGOR MORTISS - 'Klechdy O.S.T.' MCD (Zoharum) - £11.50
"Klechdy" (Folk Tales) is the soundtrack to a 2018 short and critically acclaimed horror film of the same title. It tells the story of a young African who finds himself in a remote Polish village and the troubles he encounters. The film won Best Horror Short at Los Angeles Independent Film Festival, Gold Movie Awards, Independent Horror Movie Awards, Diabolical Horror Film Festival, Bloodstained Indie Film Festival, Five Continents Film Festival, Queen Palm International Film Festival, Global Shorts, OutlanaCon Short Film Festival, plus many more nominations.
The music varies in style and tone: from narrative and suspenseful dark ambient, and sinister synth-laden electronics, to some proper heavy alternative / industrial rock tracks. This soundtrack is an integral part and a proper representation of the horror you see onscreen.
The final track features guest vocals from actor CB Mvula. Ltd x 350 copies on golden CD in an outsized square ecopack (16x16cm). |
ULESA - 'Ulesa' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
A short but rewarding album of dark and ritual tribalism from mysterious band Ulesa - an entity of unknown origin who prefers to stay that way. This is a 32-minute ride of rhythmic ambience with strongly reverbed ethereal voices playing the main role. Ritual chantings or echoes of tormented souls crying upon their fate, they set the eerie yet beautiful tone for the record. Drum parts are very hypnotic and trumpet and piano sounds add a cinematic touch making the tracks progress smoothly from one to another.
Despite the grim atmosphere and pretty intense tribal drumming the sound design of the album is extremely pleasant and it's hard to pull yourself away from it. A soundtrack for the night... leave Ulesa looped until dawn. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak. |
VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Anthology Of Exploratory Music From India' CD (Unexplained Sounds) - £12
A compilation of exploratory music and sound works presenting a comprehensive collection of sonic practices that have emerged from the desire to break away from India's traditional sounds, e.g. classical music and folk tunes, while simultaneously drawing on ideas and inspirations from these lineages and auditory heritages. The fragile but complex connection between tradition and modernity is the crucial point of entry in this body of works contributed by Indian-born sound artists and experimental musicians. Though Sound Art is a Western construct, experiment is something Indian musicians have long been engaged in whilst keeping their traditions alive and transformative. The tension between historical trajectories of sound thinking and the intervention of modernist technologies is negotiated through interpretations and reconfigurations of temporality and spatiality. This spatiotemporal tension uncovers a few questions around (de)coloniality and its shadows on emerging sonic practices in South Asia with new perspectives. Features: Bidisha Das, Budhaditya Chattopadhyay, Clarence Barlow, Debashis Sinha, Farah Mulla, Hemant Sreekumar, Ish Sherawat, Jessop & Co, Rajesh Mehta, Sandeep Bhagwati, Sukanta Majumdar, Surabhi Saraf, and Varun Desai. Ltd x 200 copies in a digipak. |
VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'The Beyond - Music Inspired By The Lucio Fulci Death Trilogy' CD (Eighth Tower Records / Unexplained Sounds) - £13
Lucio Fulci, (b.1927, Rome) remains as controversial in death as he was in life, achieving notoriety for his gore epics of the late '70's / early '80's. In 1979, Fulci's film making career hit a high point, breaking into the international market with "Zombi 2" (1979), an in-name-only sequel to George A. Romero's "Zombi" (1978). With its flamboyant imagery, graphic gore and moody atmospherics, the film established Fulci as a gore director par excellence. Fulci's camera technique, and the decayed splendour of his art design, make the films more than just a gross endurance test. His opus latifundium is the "Trilogy Of Death": "Paura Nella Città Dei Morti Viventi" (City Of The Living Dead, 1980), "L'aldila" (The Beyond, 1981), and "Quella Villa Accanto Al Cimitero" (House By The Cemetery, 1981). Fulci passed away at his home on 13th March 13 1996 at the age of 68.
This compilation, dedicated to Fulci's "Trilogy Of Death", a unique and unrepeatable corpus in the history of Italian supernatural cinema, tries to imagine an alternative soundtrack for those movies. The souls of Fulci's movies are evoked by musicians: Nàresh Ran, Mario Lino Stancati, Kloob, Bad Girl, DuoSerpe, Sara Fontana, Progetto No Name - through electroacoustic, dark ambient, concrete music, prog-rock, and drone music. Some have kept in mind lessons of the master Fabio Frizzi, composer of the original soundtracks, while others escaped any attempt to revive that glorious tradition and interpreted Fulci's horror universe in a totally contemporary way. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |

BRIGHTER DEATH NOW - 'With Promises Of Death' LP (Cold Meat Industry) - £24

THIS IS NOT OVER! Ltd x 300 copies on blood red vinyl in a debossed sleeve with download card. |
SMALL CRUEL PARTY - 'Islands Of Sleep' CD (Ferns Recordings) - £11
Small Cruel Party's work is focused on the inherent mysterious and beautiful quality of sound itself. Manipulation of physical objects in acoustic space and a great deal of concentrated activity. Even in pieces involving dense sound at high volume the resultant effect is one of intense calm. This is a reissue of SCP's 1998 vinyl on G.M.B.H. records. Three longform tracks of acoustic noise. Ltd x 300 copies in an ecopak. |
THEOLOGIAN - 'Some Things Have To Be Endured' LP (Crucial Blast) - £18
"Magick. Motherhood. Pain. Suffering. Blood. Tension. Nausea. Desire. Obsession. Addiction. Loathing. Violence. The loss of hope. Unfulfilled dreams. Unhealed wounds. SOME THINGS HAVE TO BE ENDURED". NY's synth-death master Theologian (Leech of Navicon Torture Technologies) offers 8 tracks of punishing black industrial dread, ethereal coldwave beauty, electronic deathscapes, blasts of rumbling blackened synthcrush met with washes of haunting electronic melody, always remaining rooted in an bleak, jet-black industrial sound. A collection of collaborations between Theologian and female vocalists / artists from both within the industrial / noise / dark ambient / coldwave realm: Rachael Kozak (Hecate), Kristen MacArthur (Sewer Goddess), Rachel Maloney (Tonikom), Nikki Telladictorian (Prometheus Burning), Patricia Benitez (Fetish Drone), Gillian Leigh Bowling (Teloahqaal), Christiana Key (Delphic Oracle), Joan Hacker (Factoria), Shari Vari (Void Vision), and opera singer Melissa C. Kelly. Co-produced with Derek Rush (Dream Into Dust), and mastered by James Plotkin, this is some of the most moving and dramatic music to emerge from Theologian's black sonic abyss. Ltd x 500 copies on blood red vinyl in a gatefold sleeve with completely different artwork to the CD version by Gretchen Heinel. |

SHE SPREAD SORROW
'Huntress' CD/LP (CSR282LP/CD)
OUT NOW!
 |
The new album by She Spread Sorrow (Alice Kundalini) is the story of a huntress and her morbid and psychotic relationship with her prey. The protagonist is Blue, a girl whose existence is marked by obsession with another woman of the same age and by nightmares that leave her without peace. Between love and psychosis, a tragic story is consumed, which vibrates in the stomach, like the music that accompanies it - dark and hypnotic death industrial, with moments of dark ambient, power electronics and noise.
Inspired by Kundalini's nightmares and her fervent world of dreams, "Huntress" was born after 3 years of intense recordings. It pursues the need to whisper secret, forbidden tales and to stimulate the deepest shadows of the human being, exploring the boundaries between the delicate and the violent; between love and obsession; between fantasy and madness.
"Huntress" is the soundtrack of a tragic game between opposites in a reality of total solitude.
LP on 180g vinyl in 350gsm sleeve. Ltd x 500 copies.

TREPANERINGSRITUALEN
'Veil The World' LP/CD (CSR205LP/CD)
OUT 22nd OCTOBER
 |
Vinyl edition of T x R x P's Swedish Ritual Industrial masterpiece, originally released 2011. Out of print since the 2015 CD edition, we're very proud to announce 'Veil The World' on vinyl for the first time, with new artwork by Thomas Ekelund (ᚦᛟᚦ ᚷᛁᚷ | Nullvoid). Ltd x 500 copies on bone white, 180g vinyl. Due to demand, we are also reissuing the CD edition in a digipak with the new 2021 artwork.
»All seals have been broken« proclaims a demonic voice on the titular track of Veil The World, and that is something terrifyingly evident in the music contained therein. On Veil The World, Trepaneringsritualen veers from crepuscular ritual moods to rabid death chants reveling, even celebrating the imminent end of flesh. Veil the World - originally released in a very limited and ultra-lavish box by Kosci Tapes in 2011 - marks the half-way point between the earlier, more atmospheric works of T x R x P, and the more visceral aggression of the later material.
Trepaneringsritualen explores themes of religion, magick and the hidden realms of consciousness, taking its musical cues from the old school of ritual ambient & death industrial. Rhythmic and seething at times, and oozing forward with a creeping sense of desolation at others, Trepaneringsritualen conjures forth bleak but mesmerizing visions of the end-times. |

LULL 'Moments' 2 x LP (CSR295LP)
OUT 3rd DECEMBER
 |
Isolationist, minimal, alienating Drone / Dark Ambient from Mick Harris (SCORN, FRET, ex-NAPALM DEATH). Staggeringly beautiful, glacial sub-bass sounds, deep ambient and thunderous tones, with subtle shifts. Originally released as a 99-track continuous CD in 1998 (Relapse), now presented on vinyl for the first time, "Moments" is expanded to 100 cuts, with bonus material from the original recording sessions.
"Tectonic rumblings and icy sound slivers move and swirl around each other, slipping into spaces between the molecules which make up your physical body and then break it apart in preparation for rearrangement. Moments of expansive emptiness and claustrophobic terror overlap one another and then overcome your mind as you journey through this bleak void of sound. At one moment warm and organic, the next, slowly slipping into a machine-like coldness to freeze and paralyze... Sound as a vehicle to bring you through that doorway towards dimensions previously unknown. Hypnotic and soothing with a lingering sense of dread throughout" (Carrion Kind).
File next to Lustmord, Sleep Research Facility, Thomas Köner.

DET KÄTTERSKA FÖRBUND (Nordvargr + Trepaneringsritualen)
'Lidaverken Del I: Att i Vådeld Förgås' CD/LP (CSR265CD/LP)
OUT NOW!
 |
Cold Spring presents two Swedish titans - NORDVARGR (MZ.412) and ᚦᛟᚦ ᚷᛁᚷ (TREPANERINGSRITUALEN) - teaming up for a bludgeoning dose of Death Industrial majesty.
Det Kätterska Förbund, consisting of the two giants dominating the Death Industrial world - Thomas Ekelund (Trepaneringsritualen, Dead Letters Spell Out Dead Words) + Henrik Nordvargr Björkk (MZ.412, Pouppée Fabrikk, Folkstorm etc) - has been slowly and methodically working for almost 5 years to finish the first album of this double-headed abomination. Patience richly rewarded.
You can instantly feel the presence of lurking unease as the album slowly opens up a distorted world of familiar sounds and voices, but there is something special about these recordings; the menacing aura that has been created adds new elements to the otherwise rigid tropes of the genre. Punishingly heavy rhythmic tracks, with savage incantations from both Thomas and Nordvargr, gratifyingly familiar to fans of the artists' main projects, are flanked by these death-scarred lamentations.

NEIL CHANEY - 'Aura' CD (CSR296CD) £10.50
OUT NOW!
 |
We are very proud to release the original soundtrack by Neil Chaney to the British supernatural horror film "Aura" (aka The Exorcism Of Karen Walker). From the first notes, the incredibly evocative compositions feature huge swathes of cavernous Dark Ambient, with unsettling dark synths in the vein of the legendary '70's Italian Giallo horror. Quieter, and indeed sinister moments, are evoked by emotive strings, synths and piano, adding pathos and a melancholy atmosphere to the disturbing score.
Aura: A couple discover Kirlian Photography apparatus in their new house. Intrigued by the concept of photographing peoples' Auras they unwittingly release an ancient evil. Only the local psychic can help and she knows far more than she reveals. Aura stars: Rula Lenska (a darling of British TV), Shane Taylor (Band Of Brothers), Jeanine Nerissa Sothcott (Nemesis).
Composing film soundtracks since 2009, Neil Chaney was also the creative mind behind the cinematic dark ambient / fortean electronics act Satori (2007-2008 with Justin Mitchell), releasing their acclaimed album 'Kanashibari', and the EP 'Contemptus Mundi' (feat Magus Peter H Gilmore, High Priest of the Church Of Satan). He was also the creator of early 90's Industrial act Pessary.

"Pyrrhula", is one of our most requested albums, and was originally released on CD by Cold Spring in 2008. This 2021 edition has been restored from the original masters, and further refined for the vinyl format.
Partly based on an old Swedish folktale, Pyrrhula ("doomlord") is a pitch black journey into utter darkness. This is a tale of foreboding doom... a portent of dark times to come... a blight on the face of this earth. These eight Black Ambient / Doom / Droneworks were brought forth from the abyss of Villa Bohult exclusively for Cold Spring and contain the malevolent vocals of Lord Nordvargr himself!.

Ltd x 500 copies on pale amber vinyl.
Black Fruit Of The Loom Heavy Cotton t-shirt with front and back print.
Comes with exclusive artcard when bought directly from us.
"If 'Pyrrhula' was colour it would be vantablack... It's an album that feels like it sucks the air out of the room. It makes you sit still and take notice, but most importantly, it still sounds as epic and devastating as it did 13 years ago" (Vital Weekly) |

CONTROLLED DEATH (MASONNA) / MAYUKO HINO - 'Split' Picture Disc LP (CSR291P) £20
OUT NOW!
 |
Two giants of the Japanese Noise scene present exclusive material on a special limited vinyl release.
Controlled Death is the nom de plume of Maso Yamazaki (MASONNA), who unleashed his claustrophobic Death Industrial / Blackened Electronics debut for Cold Spring last autumn (the sold out split LP with Rudolf Eb.er). "Devil's Sacrifice" (in 6 parts) continues Maso's obsession with heavy, Korg MS-20 drones. Deranged vocals choked under impenetrable, blood-soaked atmospheres of doom, death and decay, saturated with washes of anxiety, paranoia and alienation.
Mayuko Hino, 'Queen Of Japanese Noise', delivers two lengthy tracks. While the first track is filled with feverish, dense noise and swathes of savage electronics, the second, mind-melting electronic piece (reminiscent of her debut album 'Lunisolar' for Cold Spring) descends into a diseased, suffocating maelstrom, finishing on the verge of psychosis. In addition to self-made instruments, Mayuko plays noise with her six-theremin oscillators (in bright pink) - the one and only in the world, specially made by Ryo Araishi (a.k.a. ichion). Mayuko is most well-known for forming C.C.C.C. (Cosmic Coincidence Control Center) in 1990, together with Hiroshi Hasegawa, Fumio Kosakai and Ryuichi Nagakubo.

HIMUKALT - 'Knife Through The Spine' CD (CSR289CD) £11
OUT NOW!
 |
Primitive, old school industrial, with an obsessive, post-mortem feel. This is the first CD edition of Himukalt's cult 2018 LP (originally released on Malignant Records), remastered and including bonus material from the same recording sessions.
"There's something uniquely old school and primitive at work here, capturing the claustrophobic, unsettled and fragmented sound of early Illusion of Safety or mid-late '80s industrial on a whole, conteINJMBOO9 Hmporising it, and filling it in with an obsessive, post-mortem feel. Knife Through The Spine delivers a steady cascade of abstract sounds, festering with grinding pneumatic throb, coarse frequency blasts and sputtering electronic oscillations, with spliced snippets of processed, flanged vocals and a general sense of social anxiety and disaffection. A unique and challenging take on heavy electronics for fans of Puce Mary, She Spread Sorrow, Atrax Morgue".
Himukalt is the Nevada-based project of the enigmatic Ester Kärkkäinen.

FM EINHEIT (Einstürzende Neubauten) - 'Exhibition Of A Dream' 2 x CD (CSR292CD) £15
OUT NOW!
 |
Twelve dreams of musicians, artists, and filmmakers, interpreted by FM Einheit (ex-EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN), with voices by: Lee Ranaldo (SONIC YOUTH), Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (PSYCHIC TV / THROBBING GRISTLE), Susan Stenger (BAND OF SUSANS), Émilie Pitoiset, Erika Stucky, and the Gulbenkian Choir; with guest musicians: Volker Kamp, Saskia von Klitzing, Robert Poss, and Susan Stenger.
Exhibition Of A Dream (L'exposition D'un Rêve) is formed of twelve dreams interpreted as songs. Exploded in time, these are played as temporary and evolving patterns of shapes and forms in an otherwise empty gallery following the drawings of mandalas. Exhibition Of A Dream highlights the complex beauty of how to generate a dream in the mind of the spectator. A shared experience to be lived within our own personal inner space, these remastered dreams are an invitation to listen to a sensitive architecture of words and music.
Created 2017, recorded both in public and in private in the amphitheatres and the garden of the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon, and in Einheit's own studio Steinschlag. The dreamers were: Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Lee Ranaldo, Émilie Pitoiset, Susan Stenger, Susie Green, David Link, Pierre Paulin, Alexandre Estrela, Tim Etchells, Gabriel Abrantes, FM Einheit, and Genesis Breyer P-Orridge.
Originaslly released as a 3LP set, and only ever available at the 2018 exhibition at the Foundation. Presented in a 6-panel matt-laminate double digipak. |

NYTT LAND - 'Fimbulvinter' CD (CSR234CD) £11
OUT NOW!
 |
Second edition of Nytt Land's 2017 album, which quickly sold out on first pressing.
Notably outstanding on the Russian scene and largely compared with the legendary Wardruna, NYTT LAND are unique in their devotion to ritual Northern music and tradition. Their approach, using genuine native hand-crafted instruments, and true Old Norse, help them to grasp the true spirit of ancient Northern music like no one in Eastern Europe has done before. Their music is mostly based on the sources from Poetic Eddfa, performed in original Old Islandic.
"Fimbulvinter" is enriched with instruments like bagpipes and trembita (Alpine horn), and throat singing skillfully used to illustrate the occurrence of the forces of chaos; chthonic monsters in the world of men and gods. Fear and powerlessness alongside belief in the coming revival, renewal. All Scandinavian mythology is permeated with fatalism, humbleness to fate. The same mood saturates "Fimbulvinter". The first part is dedicated to the creation of the world and people, embodying the warm seasons. The second half to winter, the death of all living things. 6-panel digipak featuring all lyrics. |

JAGATH - 'Devalaya' CD (CSR290CD) £11
OUT NOW!
 |
Jagath is a ritual/industrial ambient act from Perm, Russia.
We create our music at abandoned industrial locations - the bottom of a moist underground sewer shaft and inside huge hollow oil tanks - without using digital synthesis. We use simple, mostly hand-crafted instruments, found objects and our voices. We do this to share our vision of decaying post-industrial age, to unleash the spirit of deep beyond-world and unveil life in the abyss.
"Devalaya" ("Temple") was recorded in vast oil tanks from 2015 to 2018.
6-panel glossy digipak with photography by Gregory Skvortsov and Dmitriy Frolov.
For fans of: Shibalba, Phurpa, Arktau Eos. |

'I REMEMBER YOU' (ÓSKAR THÓR AXELSSON) Original Motion Picture Soundtrack CD (CSR287CD) £10.50
OUT NOW!
|
We are extremely proud to release the official soundtrack to the cult Icelandic horror film 'I REMEMBER YOU' (Is: "Ég man þig"). Heavy dark ambient / industrial / orchestral soundscapes composed by Frank Hall, with a beautiful, solemn, folkloristic finale featuring Icelandic choirs. A must for fans of Graeme Revell, Steven Price, Lustmord, MZ.412. Digipak.
The soundtrack was created at the old industrial area of Grandi in Reykjavík, at a studio due to be 'gentrified' and forcefully emptied of the artists. "I was alone in this large building in this deserted area, working late hours, making music for a horror movie. It was during winter... wind blowing, darkness. There were some tense moments...".
"As soon as I read the script I heard low brass in my head and that kind of stuck. We used a lot of brass instruments, filtered and processed throughout. I also ended up using a lot of bowed guitar, sometimes doubling the brass, sometimes more like a sound effect". Hall also used analogue synths on the special climactic track "Montage".
'I Remember You' is based on the internationally acclaimed novel by Yrsa Sigurðardóttir, the "Queen of Icelandic Crime". |
