BAD SECTOR - 'Ampos (Expanded)' 2 x LP BLACK (Old Europa Cafe) - £33

25th anniversary expanded edition of the first full-length album released by Massimo Magrini as BAD SECTOR (1995, God Factory / Staalplaat). For this edition the dark ambient / industrial masterpiece gets its first vinyl treatment, and includes some bonus material from the same era. "Ampos" has set a standard in deeply emotional dark ambient noise and many of his following releases went in that vein of evocative intensity and monolithic sound. Strong and throbbing layers of cracked sound waves, decay and harmonize throughout the album, creating emotional and archaic soundscapes. This is a timeless masterpiece and a reference of its genre. DER ARBEITER - 'Amor Fati' CD (Ur Muzik) - £11.50

Eleven years after the release of Der Arbeiter's acclaimed album "Holzwege", Juan A. returns with "Amor Fati" - his most accomplished creation so far. The electro-folk signature sound of this long-running act is still present on this album, yet obtains more analogue and organic veneer resulting in a mature work of oneiric and almost mystical character. Drawing his main inspiration from Friedrich Nietzsche's concept of Amor Fati ("love your fate") and including selected texts by Heraclitus, Martin Heidegger and Lou Andreas Salome, the latest opus by Der Arbeiter is both a musical and spiritual feast. DERNIÈRE VOLONTÉ - 'Le Feu Sacré' CD (Silences Et Gresillements) - £14

First released in 2000, this classic now comes re-mastered and with new cover artwork. Dernière Volonté is an artist that has been evolving over the years, starting from 1998 with the thematic limited cassette release "Obeir et Mourir" which was an historical snapshot of a particular place in time. However, in the millennium the level of standards were raised with their so called debut album "Le Feu Sacre", which brought us electro beats, martial rhythms and gloomy keyboard patterns, combined with orchestral samples, and of course Geoffrey D.'s characteristic voice and French vocals. The environment that formed without relying on the tricks of the trade is what really piqued interest. The beauty of this particular release lay in its simplicity and originality. Very outstanding at that time and 21 years later still a masterpiece. Gatefold digisleeve with booklet.

EBOLA DISCO / ARMENIA - 'River Ratz / Desfigured Man Of War' 7" (Novichok) - £8

Ebola Disco hail from North Queensland, and Armenia from a similar humid tropical climate in a different part of the world. The latent rhythms of Ebola Disco's (Ben Taylor of Bordel Militaire) "River Ratz" is reminiscent of a ramped up version of early Esplendor Geométrico; bare skeletal rhythmic industrial style throbbing oscillations. Thematically it reflects on many things: sugar cane crop burning under the blistering hot sun as disease vector rats run rampant in the drained river beds... a history of dead industry in north QLD. Ecuadorian noise mercenary Armenia (aka Leo Sabatto of MACRONYMPHA / D.A.F.O.S.M.) launches an all-out blizzard of embattled harsh noise on "Desfigured Man Of War" that feels deeply submerged in the context of ruthless Latin juntas. Harsh noise in a state of perpetual war that is severe like dengue and ends abruptly with circulatory failure and shock. Ltd x 158 copies in a foldover card sleeve.

END PROJEKT / EBOLA DISCO & BROWNING MUMMERY - 'Fear / MF' 7" (Novichok) - £8

All-new tracks from two Australian power electronics / harsh industrial noise groups. This 7" sees the debut of End Projekt - the new Sydney industrial band formed by Tone Generator (SPK), Sys_Frank (Bloody Fist Records act), and Hirofumi Uchino (Defektro). On "Fear", the trio offer their take on the current information word virus saturating the globe. Various noise generating machines made by Defektro and synths are active at the same time, EMS Synthi - Erica - Roland SH-09, creating an eerie acoustic environment with a low-level tension. Background autonomic tone firing constricts things for a certain continuous dystopic atmosphere. Ebola Disco (Ben Taylor of Bordel Militaire) & Browning Mummery's collaboration "MF" is a roaring tribute to the great tractor brand Massey Ferguson. Spuming with their trademark enmity; short and direct noise that accelerates with blunt force that has the ability to generate a more localized response than anything longer might be capable of. Released for the XV Congresso Post Industriale festival on in January 2019, this 10" was originally presented in a limited edition of just 45 lathe-cut copies. Finally those 2 tracks see the light on solid vinyl! Two exclusive tracks from Danny Hyde / COIL featuring Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson & John Balance.

JARL - 'Spectrum Confusion' CD (Reverse Alignment) - £12

Spectrum Confusion consists of three long-form pieces showcasing his trademark psychedelic, hypnotic approach, but this time the presence of bubbling and pulsating sounds makes the music sound closer to the electronic experiments of Northern European avant-garde composers in conjunction with more melodic passages harmonically coexisting alongside the abstract elements. Jarl's music has entered its more mature stage here, and Spectrum Confusion consolidates his reputation as one of the most interesting and original European electronic music composers. Swedish musician Eric Jarl has been active since 1999, principally as Jarl. He was also a founding member of post-industrial act IRM, and a former member of Skin Area. Erik Jarl composes his music through a total analogue approach with the use of synthesisers, analogue sequencers, waveform generators, and oscillators, as well as several echo/reverb and delay units. Ltd x 200 copies in a digipak with beautiful cover art by Karolina Urbaniak.

MERZBOW - 'Solonoise 1&2' 2 x CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £17

Reissue of two historical Merzbow tapes from the first Japanoise era, both recorded early 1982. Pure analogue noise with varied timbre and strings, keyboard, and percussion. Inspired by DADA & Kurt Scwitters from which he took "MERZ" for his project name, this might be considered a New-DADA experiment from Masami Akita. These early tracks are not the overwhelming electronic noise that dominate Merzbow's late 1980s & 1990s works but contain all the analogue bluster their work employs with electronics, strings, keyboards, pipe, loops and snare drum. True, early sounds in the history of Japanese noise of the 20th Century. All sounds remastered by Masami Akita in 2021 for this CD edition. "Solonoise 1" features Kiyoshi Mizutani (SCUM). MORAL ORDER - 'Alpha And Omega' LP BLACK (Old Europa Cafe) - £24

"Alpha And Omega" is an analysis exercise on the semantics of Moral Order - the heavy electronics project of Fernando O. Paíno (Da-Sein). Immanuel Kant developed the term during the 18th century in his Critique of Pure Reason to support the argument for the existence of God, being this one responsible for constituting a Moral Order with which humanity can be governed. The forces of good and evil act as counterweights within the existence of the human being, and the seven new and unnamed songs contained in the fifth full-length album of this industrial project have much to say in this regard. A collection of songs in which a resounding darkness is projected, fusing dark ambient with ritual in a unique way, all without losing the industrial essence that characterizes the sound of Moral Order. OF THE WAND AND THE MOON - 'Your Love Can't Hold This Wreath Of Sorrow' CD (Heiðrunar Myrkrunar) - £14

Of The Wand And The Moon return with their brand new studio album, 10 years since the last highly acclaimed "The Lone Descent" (2011). The 10 new songs are a highly atmospheric, melancholic and twilight-ridden output, that this time clearly shows mainman Kim Larsen's inspirations from 60-70's singer / songwriters such as Lee Hazlewood, Leonard Cohen and Serge Gainsbourg, as well as movie soundtracks from the same period. Whilst developing the sound from "The Lone Descent", this album still maintains some of the dark Neofolk roots of the band, and is also a huge step musically into brand new directions. Rope Society and Am Not present two cuts of harsh electronic punishment dedicated to men marked for death by Moscow's diarchy. Men who looted a collapsed empire or chose the wrong side in the race to power. Foreign plunderers, traitors and fallen sultans scurrying away only to be sentenced in absentia, condemned to live out their last years always looking over their shoulder. This hunt will end only when its prey is left impaled on Marylebone railings, swinging from a chandelier, burned from within or despatched by bullets. As the world shrinks, time is ever shorter for these fugitives and a final, violent reckoning is never far behind. Rope Society is Australia's David Tonkin (Isomer). SLOGUN - 'Less Traveled' CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £12

"Less Traveled", by American True Crime Electronics icon Slogun, compiles three notable titles from his discography. The CD brings together two titles born out of his 2001 appearance in Mombris, Germany: "I Travel" and "How It Ends", as well as a rare EP celebrating his April 2016 appearance at the OEC Congresso Post Industriale in Bologna, Italy. Originally released by Slogun's own label, "I Travel" is a perfect example of Slogun's style at the turn of the new century, utilizing early harsh analogue layering along with scorching walls of noise. Originally released as a limited edition 10" on the White Rabbit label in 2002, "How It Ends" is more in line with his later works - unrelenting walls of noise. The final two long tracks are taken from the rare 12" acetate "All But One" and feature a more structured sound evident in the final albums between 2010-2018. All these tracks rely most on Slogun's distinct lyrical style: raw, ugly, non-conforming. Lifting the veil on the notion of "humanity" and the human animal, "Less Traveled" celebrates a life off the beaten path, lived regardless of the price that had to be paid. The realization that what was taught was false. What was explained all a lie. What was directed just empty promises. The myth of "best interest" blown wide open as self-realization snuffed out all the empty promises.Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak.

SÖNMA - 'Ether' CD (Ksenza Records) - £11.50

Slow and heavy music blending together funeral doom and drone doom, using Sunn amplifiers and dark ambient. "Ether shows unachievable goals that are frozen in a static condition of endless trepidation. The indifference of the cold universe to all living creatures exposes trivial and tragic fates condemned to their own ambitions. The time is filled with paths that lead to no goals. Ultar is a melodic post-Black Metal five-piece from the heart of Krasnoyarsk, Siberia. VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Anthology Of Experimental Music From China' CD (Unexplained Sounds) - £12

Second edition of this fantastic compilation released earlier this year and sold out immediately. The Unexplained Sounds Group presents an anthology of experimental music from China, showcasing veteran musicians alongside many young and promising artists from the contemporary underground music scene. China's experimental music and sound art scene began to take shape in the post-Tiananmen era in the late 1990s. A few musicians from the mainland’s underground music scene started to experiment with new ways of making music while the music industry co-opted the once revolutionary and independent rock music scene. The Hong Kong based experimental musician Dickson Dee and the U.S. based artist Dajuin Yao introduced Western avant-garde, experimental music to the mainland through the Internet and through the organization of music tours and festivals. The practice and spread of sound art, particularly installation and performative kinds, was made possible partially by venues such as contemporary art galleries and studios that have come to flourish in the cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Developed outside of academic and official institutions, China's sound art and experimental music scene encompasses noise music, experimental music, free improvisation, sound performance art, and sound installation. DER ARBEITER - 'Holzwege' CD (Ur Muzik) - £11.50

Following the acclaimed debut album "Reflejos del Sol" (2004, Divine Comedy Records), Der Arbeiter release their second opus, "Holzwege". Ten songs conceptually inspired by the work of Chilean writer Miguel Serrano, and his conception of Minne ("a love at once illicit and morally elevating, passionate and disciplined, humiliating and exalting, human and transcendent"). In musical terms, Holzwege is an alchemical mix of electro-folk with a slight mediterranean taste, which gives it a unique and distinctive sound that moves away from the well known clichés of the neofolk-martial scene. FOLKSTORM - 'Dödsabnorm' CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £12

A year after the superb "Nihil Total" album Folkstorm returns stronger than ever with an album of suffocating and death-infused orthodox industrial. A beast of an album recorded using only 70's circuitry and lots of metallic percussion. Nordvargr (MZ.412) has created a dense atmosphere that is dark and threatening as well as hypnotic. A clear statement of what 2020, and possibly the future, will hold for us all: decay, darkness and suffering. NYTT LAND - 'Cvlt' CD (Infinite Fog Productions / Ksenza Records) - £12.50

The 6th album from Nordic Folk Ritual band Nytt Land features ritual songs of ancient Siberia in an atmospheric mix of traditional throat singing, authentic musical instruments, overdriven guitars and electronic music. "Cvlt" is more aggressive, harder, but at the same time more folklore in the traditional sense than previous albums. For the first time Nytt Land break from only performing the Old Norse epic and here present to the world ancient ritual songs of the indigenous peoples of their native Siberia. It is the ancient traditional ritual songs of the tribes that have inhabited Siberia from time immemorial that are the most valuable heritage and cultural monument of their land. In the new arrangements, they pay more attention to electronic sounds, using a full drum-set and overdriven guitars, giving the album more emotional facets. All this gives the album a more 'folk rock' sound than previous albums and was inspired by the creativity of bands such as Garmarna, Dead Can Dance, and Nine Inch Nails. However, Nytt Land continue their serious research, diligently studying a large number of Siberian dialects, indigenous peoples and language phonetics, creating an authentic album in the Siberian tongue. The also continue to use their trademark traditional instruments and overtone throat singing for that distinctive Nytt Land sound. Guests: Tuomas Rounakari and Jonne Järvelä (Korpiklaani). STUZHA - 'Siberian Sketches' CD (Ksenza Records) - £11.50

CD-proper reissue of this long-sold out debut 2011 release (originally issued on CDR by Polish label Snowy Tension Pole in an edition of 50). "Siberian Sketches" features a combination of Siberian field recordings, dark ambient interludes and acoustic guitar melodies. The album is inspired by Autumn and includes genuine nocturnal and daytime field recordings. The excellent artwork completes the musical autumnal impression.
