HAARE - 'Karesansui' CD (4iB Records) - £11.50

When Haare was incepted in 1999, Ilkka Vekka had a very specific vision of what kind of "ultra" harsh noise he wanted to produce. This involved the idea of sitting still and focused while being immersed inside the turbulent eye of a metallic storm; a whirlwind of feedback and junk metal. The seed for Karesansui was planted. But it did not materialize as the exact sounds he wanted were not up to his expectations. After a period of almost 20 years, Karesansui was finally resurrected and reworked again in 2018. The entire album consists of material combining several recordings made 2018-2019. The main sound sources comprise metal junk, microphone feedback and electronics/fx. Be absorbed in a vortex of harsh screeching feedback, hollow resonating echoes and heavy stereo shifting of organic drones. "ZEN FEEDBACK HARSH NOISE MEDITATION METALJUNK SATORI". HAARE - 'New Age Of Death' CD (Aussaat) - £12

Continuing deeper into the world of kosmische industrial, Haare have created a psychedelic study into the mystery of death, and beyond. The terrors of death combined with celestial beauty, in vibrant colors and pitch black space. "New Age Of Death" is dedicated to Pekka "Maitreya" Airaksinen, who sadly passed into the next life during the making of this album. Ltd x 200 copies in an outsized gatefold digisleeve.

HEMATIC SUNSETS (ASMUS TIETCHENS) - 'Aroma Club Adieu 5' LP + 12" SINGLE-SIDED (Auf Abwegen) - £28

The final release by ASMUS TIETCHENS's death lounge project, with farewell greetings by Michael Rother, Felix Kubin, Heinz Funk, Okko Bekker and more. 12 exquisite pieces of death lounge electronic pop performed on electronic organs and entertainment devices of various kinds. Under the moniker Hematic Sunsets, legendary avant-garde composer Asmus Tietchens has explored his love of the Darth Vader organ sound - a cheesy, spooky, deranged but still catchy form of electronic pop. The body of work of Hematic Sunsets stands out as unique, displaced and in a sexy way out of fashion. As a bonus to the final album of the project artist friends of Asmus Tietchens have composed short homages that are included here in the form of a single sided 12". Among those saluting are such illustrious musicians as Heinz Funk, Felix Kubin, Michael Rother, Jetzmann, and Otto Bekker. Ltd x 300 copies with the LP on black vinyl and the single-sided 12" on white vinyl.

HIMUKALT - 'Septic' LP (Malignant Records) - £21

"Septic" is the second full length vinyl release from Himukalt, following 2018's "Knife Through The Spine" (imminent CD release due on Cold Spring!). Two years removed, the Himukalt aesthetic and template remains broadly intact through the 5 lengthy tracks found on "Septic"; deadening rhythmic pulsations, bristling oscillations, and a steady stream of crackling and frying circuitry, often infused with layers of filth, hostility, and sexuality. Primitive, old school industrial, with an obsessive, post-mortem feel. A unique and challenging take on heavy electronics for fans of Puce Mary, She Spread Sorrow, Atrax Morgue. JETZMANN - 'Use The Air' LP (Auf Abwegen) - £19

A selection of experimental / abstract / ambient works for the stage, created over the course of 15 years. Their origin in relation to choreography is difficult to put into a methodical formula. The productions were never about "dance music" in the classical sense, to which the dancers hang like puppet threads. The starting points were DJ'ing, live improvisations in Jenny Beyer's Open Studios (rehearsals with and in front of an audience), field recordings of work noises, the theatre environment. What happened on stage remains hidden on this record. Therefore the selection was determined by the question of what could work without the visible action of dancers. Much of what has arisen cannot naturally be reproduced on a sound carrier, for example the sound of 40 mini speakers carried by the audience on a course through the theater in Jenny Beyer's "Fluss", installations with prepared records and record players in "Liebe" or the Stravinsky arrangements in "No [Rait] Of Spring" by Josep Caballero Garcia. THANOS CHRYSAKIS - 'Elytra' CD (Auf Abwegen) - £12

Seven works of deeply detailed, resonant and layered sonic interaction as a form of emulation of the action of the elytron, each piece an absorbing sonic experience. Everyone has heard the marvellous sound of crickets in the summer, especially in the countryside. The sound is produced by raising and scraping against each of their protective forewings (the elytra). Their burrow act as a resonator bringing at times a transcendent quality to the place. The music on this album, with a myriad of sounds, regular and irregular pulses, unfolds a similar transformative quality. Thanos Chrysakis is a Greek composer, musician, producer and sound-artist. He is best known for his work in electronic and contemporary music, free improvisation, and electroacoustic music. Ltd x 150 copies in a digipak.

THE NEW BLOCKADERS + K2 - 'Kyomu​-​No​-​Ne' LP (4iB Records) - £20

Two heavyweights and veterans of the harsh noise genre come together once again to deliver 3 massive tracks of junk noise nihilism. Titled "Kyomu-No-Ne" in Japanese, it loosely translates to the philosophical phrase "The Sound of Nihilism". The complex mosaic of harsh frequencies stack and pile on each other relentlessly, detailing the richness of sound through crazed electronics and effects device manipulation. Organic sound elements get deconstructed and regurgitated in a firework display of grating metal bashing, and nails-across-the-blackboard screeches drowned by analogue feedback. This is an album displaying an audio environment of heavily layered textures and complex junk electronics overdrive. It is also highly significant that GX Jupitter-Larsen (The Haters) contributes to the release with his trademark splatter artwork, considering the close working relationships between these 3 established noise artists. THINKING PLAGUE - 'Moonsongs' LP (Jelodanti Records) - £20

Originally released as a cassette on Endemic in 1986 and LP on Dead Man's Curve in 1987, this avant-prog album is available for the first time in over 30 years. Founded in 1982 by Mike Johnson and the legendary Bob Drake, Thinking Plague explore the frontiers of progressive rock, folk, jazz and modern symphonic music. Combining lyricism with intense and sophisticated rhythmic and harmonic ideas, they may start to sound like pop or jazz music, but then are stretched or transformed the next moment into new territories that often defy categorisation. The songs have often been compared to modern film music (with vocals), and may sound like journeys through an inner world. Newly remastered by Bob Drake, with astonishingly improved sound. Ltd x 300 copies in a hand-numbered, hand-printed gatefold sleeve, making each cover unique.

2020 was a dramatic year... Fears, worries, hardships everywhere, even panic, utter helplessness, but also disgraceful ignorance and arrogance... This CD collects a many-voiced selection of aesthetic statements as hindsights, as previsions, dystopian / utopian / resigning / courageous / protesting / alarming / optimistic / comforting... that react to incidents, experiences, and the severe events in the calendar year 2020: Beethoven 250, the continuous destruction of environment and democratic values, the pandemic. With contributions from: Marc Behrens, Gerald Fiebig, KedArY, Jörg Lindenmaier, Nicola L. Hein / Joshua Weitzel, Clemens von Reusner, Maximilian Marcoll, Wolfgang Motz, Monika Golla, Peter Kiefer, Klarenz Barlow, Julia Mihály, Ralf Hoyer, Ludger Kisters, and Johannes S. Sistermanns. Dedicated to the memory of Georg Katzer, pioneer of electroacoustic music in the German Democratic Republic and long-time honorary member of DEGEM, who died on 7 May 2019 at the age of 84. In his radio pieces Mon 1789 (1989) and Mein 1989 (1990), the illumination and scrutiny of two important revolutionary years in contemporary history is both impressive and riveting. CRANIOCLAST - 'Cract On Sail' LP (Auf Abwegen) - £17

The first new album from the mysterious German project Cranioclast since 1993! Cract On Sail is an epic work spanning two sides of the LP - each side at 27:30 minutes. The piece is deliberately divided by a harsh cut in the middle, thus refreshing the listeners impressions after turning the record. Cract On Sail progresses intuitively in an almost linear way and includes strong guitar riffs, flexing bass and synthetic rhythms, and sample-laden electronic dronescapes. It is the most accessible Cranioclast to date. Ltd x 300 copies on grey marbled vinyl with download code.
