NEW COLD SPRING RELEASES - AUG-SEP 2023 |
BURIAL HEX - 'In Hiding'
CD £9 - out 22nd September

A carefully curated selection of the crucial compilation tracks from Horror Electronics / Post-Industrial project BURIAL HEX, gathering and remastering them together, striving to create a resonance between disparate sources, forming an extraordinary new experience.
After nearly 20 years of activity from this restless project, many Burial Hex compilation tracks have been released, often of a very unique and high quality as Clay Ruby seemed to enjoy taking compilation submission requests as an opportunity to offer new perspectives on their already bizarre and eclectic work.
Many of the tracks were from cassettes, vinyl, or digital-only releases for labels such as Brave Mysteries, Aurora Borealis, Clan Destine, Small Doses, and Buh, appearing here on CD for the first time - or in the case of 'Pentitential March', never-before released. Clay Ruby has remixed each track, in some cases re-envisioning them specifically to live together coherently in this incarnation, making this collection more like a new studio album rather than another anthology compilation.
Revelling in the intimate, feral surrealism that we have come to know without parallel from this intoxicating project, "In Hiding" is an excellent view into the romantic Promethean theater of Burial Hex, whether for the neophyte or the adept.
FFO: Coil, SPK, Psychic TV, Trepaneringsritualen.

SATØRI - 'The Woods'
CD £9 - out 8th September

Industrial / Power Electronics unit SATØRI returns with a new dark and disturbing journey into the very depths of human horror.
"Debris in the corners; steel shavings and teeth..."
Using his love of pure noise, harsh synths and brutal percussion, SATØRI has created a dystopian cinematic soundscape in which it would be entirely possible to lose your very soul.
While the last two releases concentrated on what could be described as "observations on humanity's ability to drag itself down to its lowest common denominator", this new work focuses on a more localised depravity - that of the lone wolf. An individual who, having no moral compass, has no boundaries to cross.
"...there is something wrong here"
An overcast autumn afternoon in the forest and a light rain crackles the fallen leaves. The camera, low to the ground, follows behind a pair of well-worn work boots as they approach a rundown shack deep in the undergrowth. As we move closer the air seems to thicken. To the side is what appears to be a shed or garage. Wooden double doors rotten at the base but firmly chained and padlocked. The camera moves to the front and rises to eye level. Hands reach out to undo the locks. For some inescapable reason we know that inside we are going to find pure unadulterated evil.
Welcome to The Woods.

DREW DANIEL (MATMOS) / JOHN WIESE (SISSY SPACEK) - 'Continuous Hole'
CD £11.50 - Out Now!

This collaborative album by Drew Daniel (Matmos, The Soft Pink Truth) and John Wiese (Sissy Spacek, Smegma, LHD,) is the fruit of over 10 years of recordings in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Baltimore.
"Continuous Hole" melds improvisation and musique concrète composition into a uniquely sweaty document of labour-intensive rhythm . A finger puzzle of reconciled opposites: lockstep structure and constant flux.
Relentlessly variable source material is relegated to precisely timed gated forms and patterns. Without using any sampling or MIDI sequencing, the rhythmic cuts are constructed entirely from volcanic, gnarled abstraction, and eschew typical genre elements.
Raw yet precise, from mayhem to menace, this is a album of strong contrasts from two American artists discovering common ground in the joy of frenzied cutting. Our personal favourite is 'Abhorred Shears', which reminds of the cut-up works of COIL's LSD yet remains utterly unique.
A prolific recording artist and visual artist with an extensive discography under his own name, and with noise stalwarts Sissy Spacek, John Wiese is currently based in Cleveland. One half of the electronic band Matmos and all of The Soft Pink Truth, Drew Daniel is based in Baltimore.
Presented in a matt-laminate 6-panel digipak with photography by John Wiese. The cover photograph was shot by John Wiese in Drew Daniel's office on the campus of Johns Hopkins University where Daniel is a Shakespeare professor. |

Reissue of seminal early 1980's electronic recordings from the British Electric Foundation (B.E.F.), aka HEAVEN 17 / ex-THE HUMAN LEAGUE's Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh, with Adi Newton (CLOCK DVA / THE FUTURE), and John Wilson (HEAVEN 17), originally a cassette-only release (1981).
• Ltd x 500 copies on 180g Electric Blue LP (Cold Spring only) | LP Black | CD
Following two groundbreaking albums ('Reproduction' and 'Travelogue'), the original line-up of Sheffield-based The Human League split in half in late 1980. The two primary musicians in the group, Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh, formed a new production company - the British Electric Foundation (B.E.F.). The artists they were to produce would include Heaven 17, their own new band formed with vocalist Glenn Gregory.
This music was among the first recorded by Martyn and Ian directly after their departure from The Human League.

Available on CD (or any other format) for the first time outside USSR, Soviet composers perform their works on the legendary ANS synthesizer.
Recorded in 1971, "MUSICAL OFFERING" is 6 tracks (42 mins) of experiments on the unique machine by: Eduard Artemiev (2 tracks), Oleg Buloshkin, Sofia Gubaidulina, Edison Denisov, and Alfred Schnittke.
"MUSICAL OFFERING" demonstrates a 'musical' machine unlike any other and has long fascinated cutting edge, modern electronic composers, notably COIL and THE ANTI GROUP COMMUNICATIONS (TAGC) / CLOCK DVA, that have both released recordings utilising the ANS.
A composer can not only create but also draw their music on glass discs, without notes To listen to the picture, press the button and a wonderful transformation will begin.
Digipak with the new artwork by Abby Helasdottir, complimenting the ANS process perfectly.

The ultimate deep listening experience from two masters of dark ambient. A slow descent into the blackened watery abyss, where light cannot reach.
The first Sleep Research Facility release since 2012's "Stealth" (Cold Spring). Inspired by the deep sea ocean floor, the Canadian-based composer explores notions of awareness and perception in the sub/unconscious listener. The material was created specifically for this release.
Taking inspiration from the beautiful, but often harsh landscapes and environments of his home on Anglesey, North Wales, Llyn Y Cwn has built on the nautical theme of "Du Y Moroedd" (Cold Spring). These tracks are based on field recordings relating to the ocean, and could be seen as a companion piece to the album.
Ltd LP on audiophile black vinyl. CD in mini-LP sleeve, replicating LP design. Features a separate front cover design with individual art for each side.

 |
The new album from 400 LONELY THINGS, produced by WILLIAM BASINSKI, is a dark ambient, sample-based séance to the Banning Mill - a real-life decaying "mansion" and haven for artists, freaks and misfits in the backwoods of the American Deep South in the 1970s-1990s - and an extraordinary piece of art that lived there.
An archaeological excursion in found sound - wandering through the art and memory of a real place, "Mother Moon" is an origin story for 400 Lonely Things. An imaginary soundtrack to the many years of solitude Richard Scott Hill's Minotauress spent hanging in the musty, secret winding halls of Banning Mill.
Melancholic instrumentals with weathered sampling at its core.
Presented in a 6-panel spot-varnished digipak.

The first new album in 14 years from LULL - the pioneering, isolationist dark ambient project of MICK HARRIS (SCORN, FRET, ex-NAPALM DEATH).
"I finally heard the way of recording, making profound sounds. Lull is purely something I can get lost in, as far as trying to create these imaginary spaces. LULL is quite natural for me. It's an extension of me. Drifting. Just going to darkness. Into a space. LULL is drifting and droning, discovering more and more what can be done with sound. These soundscapes hugely appeal to me".
CD in a matt digipak with majestic artwork by Abby Helasdottir (Gydja).

ABBILDUNGEN VARIETÉ - 'Abbildungen Varieté' CD (Final Muzik) - £12
Springing up in the 80's Industrial scene in Slovenia alongside Laibach, Abbildungen Varieté were an incredible multimedia, experimental industrial collective from Maribor. Almost 40 years since these unique artists started their activities, their first (and only) album is finally reissued.
Apart from a couple of demo cassettes and the track 'Ishodisce Subjekta' on the legendary "84" LP compilation (with Laibach, Borghesia and more), which is included here under the title 'Evolution', there are no other recordings by Abbildungen Varieté. The eponymous cassette from this mysterious project was released in 1983 on the Ljubljana label Galerija SKUC Izdaja in an edition of 230 copies. It's a live recording for the most part, plus a couple of studio tracks.
Existing from 1983-1984, Abbildungen Varieté were:
Marko Ornik, Goran Majcen, Branko Mirt, Igor Zupe, Darko Senekovic (alias Leonard Rubins).
Ltd x 200 copies in a gatefold digisleeve with images taken from a 1983 promotional video. |
AIDAN BAKER - 'Plague Fantasies / Sorry For What I Said To You In Your Dream' 2 x CD (Volok Records) - £16.50
Known for his doom-drone project NADJA, Aidan Baker is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist who plays the electric guitar as his main instrument. Using alternative methods of playing, as well as various electronic effects, Baker creates music that belongs to the genre of experimental ambient, with influences of post-rock, shoegaze, electronics, neoclassics and jazz. This double-CD release contains material recorded on 4-track cassette in 2005 and converted to digital format in 2010. The first disc "Sorry For What I Said To You In Your Dream" has never been released on physical media before. The second disc, "Plague Of Fantasies" (also featuring Richard Baker on drums) was originally released by Blackest Rainbow on vinyl in 2011 and is released on CD for the first time here. Ltd x 100 copies in a 6-panel double digipak with cover painting by Aidan Baker and newly-remastered for this release. |
BORGHESIA - 'Un Chant d'Amour' CD (Final Muzik) - £12
In 1950 French writer Jean Genet (1910-1986) made his only film, "Un Chant d'Amour". Up until mid-70's the movie was effectively banned. Borghesia began composing the soundtrack to this film in 1986, when Ljubljana was one of the hubs of urban subculture in Europe. At the time, the city was teeming with alternative civil rights movements, feminism, and peace movements; it saw the founding of the first gay organisation in Eastern Europe and the first gay film festival in Europe. These events were endorsed by Borghesia's album "Their Laws, Our Lives", dedicated to alternative civil rights movements.
The music on Borghesia's "Un Chant d'Amour" is the product o sessions recorded directly to cassette tape with very basic equipment: a Roland 707 drum machine, a Casio CZ1000 synthesizer, a Solton tape echo, and a mixing table. The result is brutal electro / industrial minimalism echoing filthy prison cell walls, culminating in an hallucinatory just-under-20-minute delirium. "The gay topic is here merely a metaphor for the control over pleasure taken by a repressive state apparatus, which is currently present to no smaller degree than in 1950 or 1986, as we have been forced to endure a curfew from 21:00 to 06:00, with all the GLAM institutions, music venues, and sport facilities closed". "Un Chant d'Amour" is another record perfectly fitting the musical history of the band and, once again, exhibiting the elusiveness of Borghesia in terms of genre.
After 35 years, Borghesia unearthed the original cassette tape and edited the recordings for this release. Ltd x 500 copies in a digipak with booklet. |
CIRCULAR - 'Float' CD (Loki Foundation) - £11.50
The music on Circular's new album "Float" is marked by its meticulous attention to detail and a keen sense of restraint. It embraces a slow-paced and meditative approach to Dark (and Light) Ambient, allowing the listener to sink into the music and experience a sense of timelessness. The compositions often have a sense of fluidity, with sounds seamlessly blending and evolving, creating a sense of movement and transformation. The ability of Johannes Riedel to evoke emotions through the subtle manipulation of sound is a testament to his artistry, making this release a captivating and memorable addition to the sound cosmos of Circular. Ltd x 200 hand-numbered copies in a gatefold digisleeve. |
EMPUSAE & SHINKIRO - 'Organic.Aural.Ornaments II' CD (Power & Steel / Loki Foundation) - £11.50
On their second collaboration, the duo of Belgian artist Empusae and Japanese artist Shinkiro manifests an organic journey through the inner cinema and creates a space of haunting ritualistic ambience and enthralling melodies. The recordings blend poly-rhythmic landscapes and field recordings, spacious textures and deep ambient drones. Organic sequences move through the musical architecture and build long tracks of an evolving deep ruminant sea of waves. Deep ambient interstellar audio presented in the midst of multilayered synthesizers and organic field recordings chained to extraordinary rhythmic atmospherics. Slow percussion and spherical atmospheres represent the impressive collaboration of the two artists. Essential, especially if you missed out on the special edition LP + CD set! Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve. |
GENOCIDE ORGAN & PRURIENT - 'Carte Blanche' CD (Hospital Productions) - £16
The hotly-anticipated DE-USA collaboration resulting in a well-crafted Death Industrial / Power Electronics album, with the authoritarian vocals we've come to expect from G.O.. "Who knows if anything really begins. The moment the future arrives it is already the past. The present is always the past. There is only the past. The past died with the future. The future dies forever! The apocalypse has already happened. There aren't any sunken caskets of gold... and besides, you can't even swim. How does anyone know what's inside another country? There are no countries, only marketplaces. There is one world, no rules, no fixed ideals - not even chaos exists. Sometimes the awareness of the ridiculously short existence overcomes you, framed in sick trivialities... and yet there is hope in the midst of the absurd and this publication tells of it. No teaching! No warning! No example! Just a report. We all owe a death. You pay yours first." Presented in a high-quality, die-cut sleeve and spot gloss tip-on wallet. |
GIANLUCA BECUZZI - 'We Can Be Everywhere (2014-2023)' 2 x CD (Final Muzik) - £15
Originally released 2014 (CDR, Final Muzik), "We Can Be Everywhere" is still one of the best albums ever released by Italian music composer Gianluca Becuzzi (Kinetix, Limbo, ex-Kirlian Camera, ex-Pankow). The original release included three solo tracks plus six collaborations with three well-regarded artists - two pieces each with SVART 1, RETINA.IT, and DEISON. The album presents obscure and thrilling atmospheres, unexpected dark structures and out-of-this-world modern electronic soundscapes. This double CD reissue includes the original release plus a new CD, composed between 2022-2023, that includes a new version of "We Can Be Everywhere".
Obviously inspired by the original, of which it only keeps few samples (mainly vocals), it develops the new sound-path taken by the artist. The new version is structured around four lengthy tracks based on mesmerizing distorted guitar sounds, concrete music noises and raw rhythm programming from "far away". The result is a new masterpiece of wrapping, gloomy doom/drone soundscapes. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve. |
NOISE RECEPTOR #11 Magazine - £11.50

OF THE WAND AND THE MOON - 'Your Love Can't Hold This Wreath Of Sorrow' CD (Heiðrunar Myrkrunar) - £14
Of The Wand And The Moon's 2021 studio album, presented in a jewelcase for the first time, with a hefty booklet. The 10 songs here are a highly atmospheric, melancholic and twilight-ridden output, that this time clearly shows mainman Kim Larsen's inspirations from 60-70's singer / songwriters such as Lee Hazlewood, Leonard Cohen and Serge Gainsbourg, as well as movie soundtracks from the same period. Whilst developing the sound from "The Lone Descent" (2011), this album still maintains some of the dark Neofolk roots of the band, and is also a huge step musically into brand new directions.
It also includes guest performances by King Dude, legendary Danish singer / author / artist Martin Hall (who also wrote the liner notes for the album), Uffe Lorenzen (Baby Woodrose), Bo Rande (Blue Foundation), and Sarah Hepburn (Kloster), to name a few. Produced by Kim Larsen and Mikkel Elzer (Kloster), and also mixed by Mikkel Elzer. OTWATM are one of the top acts in the dark folk / neofolk scene, with a huge, powerful and epic sound, rightly deserving their worldwide acclaim. |
PURBA - 'Pandemism' CD (Volok Records) - £12
Purba is a musical and theatre project formed in Moscow in 1996, with an impressive roster of current / ex-members including Alexey Tegin (Phurpa). Their music is based upon the ancient sacral ceremonies of the Bon tradition (the pre-Buddhist religion of Tibet), playing authentic Tibetan traditional instruments, using overtone singing as well as musique concrete, noise, electronic, drone, industrial and ritual performance. "The age of the worldwide pandemic generates a corresponding response in humanity. Culture, art and ritual practices become susceptible to a widespread virus. It is not only a disease of the body, but also the impact on consciousness and the emergence of a certain pandemic ideology - pandemism. The practices of the PURBA projects refute with their methods the subordination of this ideology. A sound tunnel with arising and disappearing noise objects and elements of pitch intervals a psychedelic barrage of pure industrial sound stream at a very high volume leading to a cleansing of the body of mental filth and vanity of existence a sonic nightmare and the inevitability of Bardo". Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
REVERSE IMAGE - 'The Silence That Does Not Exist' CD (Khatulistiwa) - £12
Reverse Image is a sound artist from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She builds her works using analogue and digital equipment looking for the intersection between repetitive motifs and disjointed incidences. The title is inspired by the search for moments of silence amidst the discord. "A prodigious timbral variety is exploited to achieve a balance among layered strata of rather unconventional sonorities, extreme constructional complexity and quasi-alien thematic cues that may even be born in pseudo-tonality, yet dissolve in harsh distortion moments later... oppressive achromatic structures embellished by richer harmonic components, never remaining stationary for longer than a nanosecond" Reverse Image is Y'ng-Yin Siew - endowed with a superb inner ear and seemingly limitless intellectual curiosity, she also presided over the Mirror Tapes label. (Touching Extremes). Digipak. |
SUMMONS OF SHINING RUINS - 'Earth Shadow' CD (Volok Records) - £12
Summons Of Shining Ruins is Japanese ambient / drone musician Shinobu Nemoto. The project is named after a vivid recollection as a child - standing in front of a huge burnt-down building, the cracked windows glittered and shimmered yellow in the setting sun, an image which often recurs and influences. Summons of Shining Ruins mainly records onto 4-track using analogue devices, with magnetic tape attributes and field recordings, as well as modified Stratocaster electric guitar. With its long, low tones, "Earth Shadow" is a quiet opening of madness. "To me, musical instruments often feel like a strange, foreign body. The distance between me and the instrument hasn't shortened yet. Human existence is madness. The madness is always hidden away. I don't like music like a beautiful and quiet interior". With its long, low tones, "Earth Shadow" is a quiet opening of madness. Ltd x 50 copies (CD-proper!) in a gatefold digisleeve. |
TWELVE THOUSAND DAYS - 'The Birds Sing as Bells' CD (Final Muzik) - £12
As Boreas makes whirlwinds of the leaves of Autumn, Martyn Bates (Eyeless In Gaza) and Alan Trench (Orchis) return with more mystic tales from the haunted lands of Twelve Thousand Days. An album that harks both to the past and the future, "The Birds Sing As Bells" includes one of the first songs Bates and Trench wrote together long ago last century, 'The Knights Of December'. Settings of Baudelaire rub shoulders with newly minted originals, mining golden seams of legend and awe, and stunning interpretations of traditional songs such as 'The Cruel Brother' and 'Two Ravens'. Rich with both traditional and electronic instrumentation, the music of Twelve Thousand Days defies categorisation; pagan, wyrd, experimental...the midnight chimes of "The Birds Sing As Bells" ring out in the still air... "It's hard to imagine a more magical collaboration than the dreamlike, ominous fantasy instrumentation of Alan Trench and the silken, sweetly agonizing vocals of Martyn Bates. The most beautiful, gently haunting moods are to be found throughout this album" (Lauren). Ltd x 500 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
TWELVE THOUSAND DAYS - 'The Boatman On The Downs' CD (Final Muzik) - £12
Martyn Bates (Eyeless In Gaza) and Alan Trench (Orchis) return to the ghost-haunted Downs of Southern England for their new album "The Boatman On The Downs".
Twelve Thousand Days are without a doubt producing some of the finest music in their 25 years of existence - abstract and evocative songs that seem to be from the folk canon, so rooted in tradition are they. The band always give more than a nod to past glories with arrangements of 'Arthur McBride' and a song which all children in England once learnt in primary school, 'Early One Morning', which is found here disassembled and fed through the haze of more than half a century of lives lived.
The two traditional songs sit comfortably alongside eight new compositions. 'Comely' sets the tone, full of yearning and loss, and yet basking in hope, full of haunted voices and distant bells; the journey continues through tales of Wayland the Smith and the Silver City inspired by the verse of John Masefield, magickal tales of djinns and other spirits, an elegy to a departed friend, and more.
The soaring voice of Martyn Bates is underpinned by exquisite instrumentation - acoustic
guitars, flute organs, bodhrans and bells, mellotrons and analogue synthesisers, taking the
listener on a trip through the forgotten highways and byways of a drowned land. Ltd x 500 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |

BAD SECTOR - 'Kosmodrom' 2 x CD Boxset (Power & Steel / Loki Foundation) - £17.50
Originally released in 2005, this 2CD box includes the original album and the MCD with five extra tracks, turning the 2nd disc into an additional full length release. Dedicated to Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, the Russian pioneer of astronautic theory, the key element in Bad Sector's music was brought into the foreground with this release. Original Soviet sound devices like the Aelita synthesizer and the electro-optical ANS (which Coil also worked with) were mixed with heavily processed sources from space missions, adding an unearthly human dialogue to the electronics. The sounds on "Kosmodrom" are deep and droning, pulsating and constantly flowing with processed rhythmic sequences, supported by a bed of radio signal recordings. A timeless masterpiece of deep ambient electronica! Comes in a clam-box with 12-page booklet. |
CIRCULAR - 'Ghostwhite' CD (Loki Foundation) - £11.50
The fourth album from Circular was arranged and recorded between 2016-2019. It describes the full, unfolding spectrum, leading to the initial shade of "Ghostwhite". This release translates the varied colourful and kaleidoscopic spectra into deep audio and sound sculptures. The audio vision of "Ghostwhite" builds an organic wall of sound as Johannes Riedel starts to add more new elements, such as vocal samples, becoming louder in the mix to match the wailing organs and accelerating synthetic patterns. Circular shines with his new album and creates haunting and gripping sonic works that capture the imagination. Beautiful melodies and rhythms contrast the field recordings and sounds of modular synthesizers to build an abstract image spanning the entirety of the inner cinema. An album to impress and evolve, gathering more elements and styles into the most unique cosmos of Circular's music. 6-panel digisleeve. |
CIRCULAR - 'Radiating Perpetual Light' CD (Loki Foundation) - £11.50
The evolving, dense nature of Circular's sound world unfolds with their first work since 2009. Pulsating and deep, reverberant drones, slowly moving guitar lines and rhythms, combined with ambient layers of rich tonal colours were created with an extensive set of analogue and acoustic devices. With his third album Johannes Riedel has entered a region of higher density that produces deeper echoes of sombre oscillation. Radiating Perpetual Light emerges from the desire to sculpt an organic, meditative and deeply ambient environment of mysterious and shapeshifting soundscapes. This is the perfect soundtrack for a dark and glowing sunset. Comes in a 6-panel outsize digisleeve. |
DESIDERII MARGINIS - 'Procession' LP (La Esencia / Cyclic Law) - £22.50
Vinyl version of Desiderii Marginis' 2012 album. "Procession" heralds the reawakening of the acclaimed Swedish dark ambient project, an album that sounds at the same time warmingly familiar and inspiringly new. The eight pieces that make up this album stand firmly on their own, and yet form an even more remarkable whole. Johan Levin evokes a grand soundscape, beneath the faded remnants of the celestial spheres where timbres have space to grow, evolve and reflect off each other, a sombre, melancholic thoughtfulness, a calm to dwell in, and long back to. The atmosphere of the album is not that of solid darkness, or an abyss opening beneath you, but rather a wintry pale, grey dusk casting long, sweeping shadows. A haze that makes you uncertain if it's really getting lighter or darker. Ltd x 400 copies in a gatefold sleeve with A2 poster. |
HYBRYDS - 'Mythical Music From The 21st Century' CD (Zoharum) - £11
This is the second volume in the ongoing series of Hybryds reissues on Zoharum and it coincides with the 30th anniversary of artistic work of Sandy Nys and company. "Mythical Music from the 21st Century", the first full Hybryds release, collects tracks recorded between 1983-1986 scattered on various compilations. Yet they form the first representation of their venture into the world of sonic rituals and magic. Their perspective on sound still has not been imitated or copied and even after 30 years they still sound fresh. This new CD release contains extras: the unreleased live version of 'Sacred Voices', performed live on Radio Centraal and an unreleased mix of 'Octahedron' by the Alpha Project. The album has been digitally remastered from the original stereo cassette master. This is ritual music at its best. Digipak. |
INADE - 'The Nine Colours Of The Threshold' CD (Loki Foundation) - £11.50
Dark Ambient masters Inade present a work that indicates a codifying of their sound world full of mysterious design, unspoken secrets and dreams of ancient origin. The immersive arrangements and haunting voices supported by crackling electronics painting a dark and earthly picture. Infinite eons have passed through the labyrinthine hierarchy of deep fusing drones, tectonic soundscapes, percussion and ritual instruments - sonically sculpturing of that which lies deeper than matter, time and space. The intriguing tone colour on "The Nine Colours Of The Threshold" is generally one of heroic majesty, a kind of epic intimacy, with light and sparkling fragments. It is the narrow, hidden tracks that lead back to our lost homeland, what contains the solution to the last mysteries is not the ugly scar that life's rasp leaves on us, but the fine, almost invisible writing that is engraved on our body. 6-panel digipak. |
NORTHAUNT & SVARTSINN - 'The Borrowed World' CD (Power & Steel / Loki Foundation) - £11.50
Inspired by Cormac McCarthy's novel "The Road", Norwegian masterminds Haerleif Langas and Jan Roger Petterson joined forces to create this stunning split album of new recordings. "The Borrowed World" is the soundtrack for a world in decay, directed by the emotive and grandly melancholic signature of both projects. This is isolationist ambient music that unfolds its meditative atmosphere with majestic and melodic waves of droning sounds, environmental field recordings from the icy landscapes of the deepest North and magnificent cello recordings of Amund Ulvestad. The ashes of the late world carried on the bleak and temporal winds to and fro in the void. Carried forth and scattered and carried forth again. Everything uncoupled from its shoring. Unsupported in the ashen air. Sustained by a breath, trembling and brief. If only my heart were stone. Presented in a 6-panel digipak with beautiful artwork by Simon Heath (Atrium Carceri). |
S.E.T.I. - 'Final Trajectory' CD (Power & Steel / Loki Foundation) - £11.50
"Final Trajectory" by Andrew Lagowski's S.E.T.I. begins as a colossal sound wall - like a massive electrical transformer, out of which analogue and digital synthesizer sounds and samples emerge, condense, and crossfade into a deep ambient symphony. The recordings and textures produced over 30 years from 1983-2013 converge in "Final Trajectory" to produce a collection of monolithic sounds. Invoking a sense of immensity with warm and dark atmospheric loops sounding distant and abandoned in a vast wilderness, battling against galactic winds. S.E.T.I. sets the listener down in this wilderness as an isolated observer; a witness to long intertwining drones, shattered dialogue and broken transmissions, with superior effects chains and a gentle rising dramaturgy forcing the complete album to an astonishing pure data vortex. Released in 6-panel digisleeve. |
S.T.A.B. ELECTRONICS - 'Instrument For Operating On Mutant Women' CD (Unrest Productions) - £12
"Instrument For Operating..." was originally released in 2014 on the legendary Urashima label on a limited vinyl run of 99 copies! This was S.T.A.B. Electronics' fifth full-length album and is dedicated to the memory of Marco Corbelli (Atrax Morgue). A more structured sound and maturity from S.T.A.B., the concept included themes of body horror, media manipulation and exploitation, extreme possessiveness, and finally mortality. Forever an outsider looking at the inside of human nature, S.T.A.B. Electronics is pure psychosexual power electronics from the UK. Digipak. |
THE SUSPENDED APPARITION - 'It's Sealed Inside The Church' CD (Misantropia Records) - £12
The ultra haunting dark ambient debut from M.W. Daniels explores his long-time fascination with the paranormal. Ice cold drones, strange voices and an overwhelming atmosphere of horror. The Suspended Apparition began in the winter of 2022; the idea had long been something that its creator and composer Daniels had wanted to bring to fruition. His huge fascination with master composers Krzysztof Penderecki, György Ligeti and Edgard Varése next to outlandish English underground classics such as Current 93's "Nature Unveiled" and Nurse with Wound's "Homotopy To Marie", coupled with his long interest in the supernatural, led to him to set about composing the music that became The Suspended Apparition. The electronic compositions themselves all work with space, choir, strings and many other uncharted sounds to create a beyond eerie sound world that harks back to the aforementioned elders of composition while moving into another area entirely, a more alien area you could say. Includes a bonus CD-only homage to Borley Rectory, the "most haunted house in England". Ltd x 200 copies. |

MERZBOW - 'Cloud Cock OO Grand' 2 x LP (Urashima) - £32
When it comes to Japanese noise, few projects have pushed boundaries or risen to a more iconic status than Merzbow. The project's blistering sounds are among the movement's most important, definitive statements, continuously laying the groundwork for countless artists who have followed in its wake. Originally released by ZSF Produkt (1990), "Cloud Cock OO Grand" marked a new era for Merzbow, the first of many CDs that went in the direction we'd see in the '90s. This the first time that this seminal document from Merzbow's '90s period has ever appeared on vinyl. Composed and performed on synthesizers, metal devices, noise electronics and string instruments, all recorded at extreme volumes, "Cloud Cock OO Grand" is an enthralling sonic assault, deeply driven by the presence of electronic sounds, played against the sparse interjections of Akita's heavily processed strings, that push toward new territories of the extreme, while subtly nodding toward historical gestures from the early years of the avant-garde. On the double vinyl, the tracks are not only remastered by Merzbow, but are recontextualized and open up a new sense of his studio experimentation at the time. "Cloud Cock OO Grand" is a stunning feat of remarkable importance within the genre of noise, delivering this long unavailable masterstroke back into our hands, while further illuminating the project's crucial work from the 1990's. Ltd x 299 copies on double vinyl, with a cover that faithfully reproduces the original CD artwork. Includes an A2 poster with original 1990 drawing by Masami Akita. |
KLEISTWAHR - 'Don't Let Go: Complete Kleistwahr 1982 - 1986' 2 x CD (Fourth Dimension) - £15
This double-disc set does exactly as the title indicates and collects all the material Gary Mundy of Ramleh released under his solo Kleistwahr guise between 1982-1986. Everything originally appeared on cassette on Gary's own much lauded Broken Flag imprint, although certain titles have also appeared on limited edition vinyl reissues. However, some of the material has never before been reissued. The material featured is as follows: "Myth" album (originally released in 1982, reissued on vinyl by Harbinger Sound in 2009); "Crusade" (originally released in 1982); "Arsonicide" album (originally released in 1982, reissued on vinyl by Harbinger Sound in 2009); "Flesh Razor" (originally released in 1982 on the V/A 'Neuengamme' LP and cassette); and "Mobility" one-sided album (originally released in 1983, reissued on vinyl by Fourth Dimension Records, 2022); "Do Not" album (originally released in 1986, reissued on vinyl by Fourth Dimension Records, 2022). The material catches Gary Mundy at a time when he was exploring rudimentary sound manipulation, loops and collage effects as well as the more feedback-saturated approach of nascent power electronics music he was very much a major innovator of. This is a perfect document of those times. Produced at Broken Flag, and remastered by Sion Orgon. Presented in a 6-panel digisleeve with liner notes by Mundy. |
ORDO ROSARIUS EQUILIBRIO / TREPANERINGSRITUALEN - 'Nature Seeking Equilibrium (War 4 The Principle Of Balance)' 7" Marbled (Equilibrium Music) - £14
Split release from Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio and Trepaneringsritualen, with revised and exclusive versions of Ordo Equilibrio's '"Nature Seeking Equilibrium / War For The Principal Of Balance" which appeared originally on the A-side of the rare "I4I" Picture 7" EP (Cold Meat Industry, 1997) - a teaser for the 1998 "Conquest, Love & Self Perseverance" album that followed. It instantly became a defining hymn for the band and still holds a place in ORE's live repertoire to this day. Tomas Pettersson now delivers to the world its refurbished and definitive version, which emboldens the original militant grandiosity with a polished armour while bringing it closer to ORE's current standards. Loyal to its trademark Death Industrial style, Trepaneringsritualen's interpretation, on the other hand, is drenched in a murky sludge whose stench of exhumed corpses engulfs all hope that any notion of rebirth could perhaps surface from this ordeal. Ltd x 222 hand-numbered copies on gold / black marbled vinyl, in a 6-panel white card stock cover with gold hot foil print. Comes with a 2-sided insert with lyrics. VERY FEW IN STOCK - ACT FAST! |
MASONNA - 'Inner Mind Mystique' LP (Urashima) - £24
A Japanoise classic from 1996, "Inner Mind Mystique", released for the first time on Release Entertainment, features seven studio recordings making full use skillfully-edited cut-ups of effects, burbling electro noises, high-pitched twees, and other sci-fi sounds, erupting out to drown out the screams. Masonna's "harshtronics" pedals filter vocal and feedback, surpassing all extremes with a full frequency violence that is as fast as it is psychedelic. Everything is scraped, cosmic and beautiful and focuses an electrically overcharged universe, punctuating the thrilling and vocal sonorous power with some quite moments and brief interruptions, conferring a very particular dynamic to work. A truly stunning and historically monumental work within the Japanoise / experimental scene. Along with Merzbow, Incapacitants and Hijokaidan, Masonna is one of the best-known Japanoise projects. A psychedelic touch, cascades of electronic noise and vocal assaults mixed together constitute the ingredients of Mademoiselle Anne Sanglante Ou Notre Nymphomanie Auréolé, the double-barrelled named for Masonna. Yamazaki "Maso" Takushi created Masonna in 1987, simultaneously recording on tapes and 7"s for his own Coquette label. His ultra-limited editions have contributed to create a mythology based above all on the astonishing intensity with which Maso devastates and reprocesses the vocal chords. Ltd x 299 copies with A3 poster and cardboard insert, faithfully reproducing every aspect of the original Release Entertainment CD. |

PARANOIA INDUCTA - 'Demon's Factory - Special Edition' CD (Heerwegen Tod Production) - £12.50
"Demon's Factory" is a conceptual, album about the current events of the modern world, such as pandemics, war, globalisation and the widespread exploitation of the individual. Social manipulation turns people into servile and mindless creatures. Total surveillance, incapacitation and artificial intelligence take over the world. This is the vision of the reality we are now entering. A huge range of interferences, murmurs, dronings and overdrives combined with monotonous rhythms and spots of sound is an ideal reflection of the modern world: inhuman, cold, filthy and evil. Over 60 minutes of dark and dramatic music, ranging from apocalyptic death industrial to dark ambient to heavy neoclassical pieces. The very special guests featured are Erszebeth (Audrey Bucci of Stupor Mentis) and Infamis (aka Electric Uranus, and Beast Of Prey label boss).
Special limited edition, presented in an A5 digipak. |
KEMET - 'The Philosophical Child' CD (Zazen Sounds) - £12
Deep Ritual Dark Ambient with Eastern reflections in the vein of Dead Can Dance / Arcana / Arktau Eos / Lapis Niger. Kemet is an alchemical sonic project by Mo Massaya (Sublimatio Mortis) that accompanies spiritual works and accentuates the state of trance in meditation. Representing the black earth, the true symbol of the occult (that which is hidden) for the ancient Egyptians, who called themselves "The people of Kem". This project is a tribute to the gods and goddesses as the root directly linked to alchemical practices. Hermetic influences are transmitted through vibrations to create a symbiosis with the laboratory. Pieces of alambic and parts of distillation work were captured and used as resonances. The winds carried it, and the earth nourished it. Fire becomes earth. Separate the earth from the fire, and it will enlighten you. 6-panel digisleeve. Already sold out from the label! |
BLACK WANDERER & SLEEPWALKER - 'The Triffid Garden' CD (Ksenza Records) - £12
A dark ambient / cinematic drone soundtrack for book "The Triffid Garden". This album is a joint musical collaboration between the two Siberian drone-dark ambient projects Sleepwalker, and Black Wanderer (who also records as Stuzha / Algol). Both projects worked on the music in turns, therefore creating a unique blend of guitar drones, synthesizers and various FX experiments. "The Triffid Garden" sends you to the black and white sci-fi movies where you would need to imagine more than the picture actually shows you... it's more like reading a book. Ltd x 200 copies in a digipak. |
ONOSKELIS - 'Golden Prophecies' LP Coloured (Galafoice) - £24
Brazil's Onoskelis has become a force of nature since her prescient foray into dark dungeon music in the late 1990s (one of the first female artists in the genre). After 20+ years of silence, Countess Belliarth resurfaced in 2021 and began re-imagining her decades-old dungeon synth project from her youth. Her original two demos - "The Golden Temple Of Onoskelis" and "The Hecate Prophecies In Your Cold Throne" - now highly-sought after collectors items, are reissued here on vinyl for the first time, in an incredible deluxe heavy clear / gold vinyl pressing. Limited to an undisclosed number of copies, this edition includes a 24-page booklet with rare and never-before-seen photos, and a 70x50cm poster (one of two versions have been sealed into the vinyl shrinkwrap at random). Already sold out from the label! |
AUGMENTED ATROCITY - 'Anomaly' CD (Aussaat) - £12
Augmented Atrocity is the project of former Kovana member Janne. After privately releasing two tapes in small editions, he now presents his newest album, "Anomaly". Those familiar with the sound of Kovana might have a rough idea of the intense and disturbing material that awaits the listener. "[Their] inspiration is the greater history of power electronics in the last forty years. Distorted electronics, screaming vocals, slow piercing synthesizers of which the block waves form a rhythm, you know the drill (and perhaps, the drill is a source, too?). Also, there is a loop or two from an obscure documentary... Within these ten pieces, Augmented Atrocity offers a lot of variation, holding my attention throughout... a great release" (Vital Weekly). Ltd Edition 6-panel digipak. |
FABIO ORSI / ALESSANDRA GUTTAGLIERE - 'Arcoiris' CD + Book (Backwards) - £18
A multimedia collaboration in the format of a book with an audio CD.
The primary inspiration for this new four-handed work between Fabio Orsi and Alessandra Guttagliere are colours. The title "Arcoiris" means 'Rainbow'.
For the realisation of this work, there was a constant dialogue between Alessandra and Fabio: while Alessandra proposed a colour simply by naming it, Fabio created the sound compositions, vice versa Alessandra listening to the sound compositions let herself be inspired to create the drawings. The pictorial work is a light work, using natural colours sometimes made by the artist starting from flowers or plants. It is an organic work, in progress and in movement. Fabio's tracks are maybe his most "pop-oriented" to date, but made with his usual touch of ambient class. Ltd x 200 copies A5 format deluxe perfect-bound book with drawings by Alessandra Guttagliere, printed on a sturdy cardboard. Accompanying CD in plastic sleeve. |
LIKE THE SNOW - 'Visions of a Dream Traveller' CD (St.An.Da. / Silentes) - £12
A new work for the Like The Snow, a project by Luca Mazzariol, a remarkable Italian artist whose work of textures - always strongly evocative and of great emotional impact - alternate dreamy and romantic atmospheres, passages with an epic and almost orchestral pace, eclectic rhythmic digressions sometimes coloured by more distinctly electronic sounds, delicate ambient stasis, descriptions of gloomy nocturnal landscapes and moving 'sound stories' with a strongly cinematic imprint.
"Visions of a Dream Traveller" certainly stands at the apex of his production, collecting in an album of exquisite workmanship, profound, and exciting. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve. |
