BLACK LEATHER JESUS - 'The Bible Of Burnt Skin' LP (Amethyst Sunset) - £23

The 25th anniversary release of the harsh noise classic from legendary noise collective Black Leather Jesus, on vinyl for the first time. Since their formation Black Leather Jesus, lead by Richard Ramirez (Werewolf Jerusalem etc), has been steadily producing some of the most essential releases in the underground. Similar to "Anti-LaVey" (Deadline Recordings, 1994) and "Ho / Mo / Sexual" (Protest Products, 1995), "The Bible Of Burnt Skin" features the BLJ line-up up Kevin Ogg (R.I.P.) and Richard Ramirez making their way through a landscape of searing pummeling electronics. A standout in the vast catalogue and essential piece of the 90's harsh noise scene. Not for the faint of heart, "The Bible Of Burnt Skin" demands to be played loud. Remastered for vinyl by James Plotkin. Ltd x 240 copies in metallic print sleeves.

DIFFERENT STATE - 'Enormous Components Of Motor Unit Vol. 2' CD (Zoharum) - £11

Although the material on the first volume (2019) and this volume were created in a short period of time, they differ significantly from each other. The acoustic parts developed in the previous part give way here to raw drones, resulting in quite a coarse and electric sound. Dense, outwardly chaotic, trance inducing loops, which determine the nature of the album, are full of emotions, well presented through the music and text. The album was record over several sessions, shortly after each other, reflecting the spirit in which they were created, capturing that time, place, circumstance and experience. An extremely personal album through which the author (Marek Marchoff, also of 23 Threads) tries to redefine the current system values, using his latest experience. Ltd x 250 copies in a 6-panel hexagonal ecopack with metallic print.

ENTRE VIFS / L'ECLIPSE NUE - 'L'Eclipse Vive' CD (Aussaat) - £12

"L'eclipse Vive" is an artistic dialogue between Entre Vifs, the legendary French bruitiste unit, and L'eclipse Nue, the American industrial noise project with its origins in Tokyo. This work in progress or work in decay, according to the sources - began early 2019, and continued throughout the course of a year. The starting point was an aborted session of Entre Vifs prematurely concluded by the cries of distress of an overloaded digital delay. The (sort of) common thread was provided by a development of sound that doesn't reach its own conclusion and is waiting for a provisory solution or negation by the next track. It is from this succession of disturbances that emerges the overall dynamic, out of any "project" of sound composition, by the sole virtue of the creative chaos. This is truly a back and forth exchange throughout, culminating with the final track which features a collaboration between both artists.

FAVOURITE MIRROR - 'Somnolence' CD (Self-Released) - £12

Second full-length album from this Belarusian act. Electronica / Dark Ambient, with some Electro-Industrial harshness. This is the most complicated work by the band. It is one night, one life, one existence; a somnolent journey. The story of passing through, for finding for our selves the true reality that feels completely irrational, but also feels normal. The condition of being in several places at the same time - when the combination of pieces of reality become a true work which creates personality. Ltd x 101 hand-numbered copies in a Super Jewelcase with card slipcase and 16-page booklet filled with beautiful artwork.

KAZUMA KUBOTA - 'Utsuroi' 12" (Amethyst Sunset) - £17

Kazuma Kubota (Bloody Letter) blends harsh noise and ambient. Originally released as a limited edition cassette in 2015 (Ltd x 50, Amethyst Sunset), "Utsuroi" has been remastered by Joe Panzner for optimum vinyl listening on this edition. From the opening murky industrial stomp of "Kizu", Kubota layers a mix of noise which leads to a perfectly crafted mix of ambient and cut up harsh noise on "Wasurenagusa". The second side of the record features a side-long shoegaze that displays why Kazuma Kubota is becoming a well-known name in the noise scene and will be remembered as one of the greats carrying the torch of the Japanese Noise scene for many years to come. METH DRINKER - 'Oil' LP (Throne Records) - £17

Reissue of Meth Drinker's 2014 sludge-doom masterpiece. If there has to be just one band in the new millennium which could compare to the 90's forefathers and creators of misanthropic mind-altering Sludge (Grief, Dystopia, Noothgrush), it has undoubtedly to be Wellington's Meth Drinker. This is absolutely unmissable stuff which keeps fans worldwide hunting for their records years after the band ceased to exist. "These three sonic sociopaths from New Zealand are the authors of some of the most hateful, evil and f**king malignant sludge ever to reach human ear" (Cvlt Nation). "Meth Drinker is so visceral it’s painful at points. Be prepared, as the heavy atmosphere can become overbearing and downright oppressive, but isn’t that what we want from Meth Drinker, anyway?" The first disc here contains the complete vinyl-only studio recordings from New Zealand's sludge-doom masters Meth Drinker, including their self-titled 2013 EP, splits with Open Tomb, Moloch, Leechfeast and Dead Instrument, plus compilation tracks. Re-mastered and presented on CD for the first time ever. The second disc is a reissue of their 2014 masterpiece "Oil", presented on CD-proper for the first time. Also includes 3 videos which were banned from YouTube. 6-panel double digipak with 28pp full colour booklet. Ltd x 500 copies.

MOAN - 'Isolate | Desolate | Mutate' 2 x CD (Zoharum) - £16

20th anniversary release of Moan's albums "Isolate" and "Desolate", which form the first CD of this set, and were originally only released on short-run CDRs. Traumatic, scary post-industrial / dark ambient assemblages, taking you down the whirlpool of everyday reality's void... The second CD, "Mutate" consists of remixes by Amon, Job Karma, Genetic Transmission, C.H. District, Dead Factory, Another One, Blare For A, Synta[xe]rror, Moan, and Maciek Szymczuk. These pieces were created between 2003-2006, and, despite earlier plans, have never been published before. A complete album that closes a certain important period of MOAN's work, which also became the starting point for further activities of Rafa' Sadej in the musical field. NIMH & RAPOON - 'Post-Folk Lore Vol. 1' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50

Two highly respected artists join forces for this collaborative release. Nimh (Giuseppe Verticchio - Twist of Fate, Hall of Mirrors, Maribor, We Promise To Betray) & Rapoon (Robin Storey - Reformed Faction, ex-Zoviet France) recording together for the very first time, combining both of their key musical elements and forging something very new and different in the process. 'Post-Folk Lore Vol.1' is comprised of 4 long pieces created through shared recording sessions between their respective UK and Italian studios. Using traditional instruments, alongside sampled elements and synthesised sounds, Rapoon and Nimh open the door to this newly created Post-Folk space. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak.

S.E.T.I. - 'The Sphere Of Density' 2 x CD (Zoharum) - £16

S.E.T.I. (Andrew Lagowski) is one of the most important representatives of the dark ambient genre of recent years. "The Sphere Of Density" consists of two CDs: the first contains completely new studio material, and the second is a recording of an improvised concert from the legendary Wroclaw Industrial Festival. Although they were created around the same period of time, thetwo albums are completely different in terms of sound character and construction. The concept this time is inspired by the vision of Russian science fiction writer Alexander Petrovitch Kazantsev. "A whole cosmic laboratory of exact instruments has passed near the Moon and has communicated, by radio, priceless information about the nature of interplanetary space. It has enlarged Man's conception of the cosmos with daring brain, passionate heart, trained muscles and sensitive nerves. These people will fly in one of the following lunar ships in order to see from a lunar observatory, without the handicap of atmosphere, the constructions of the inhabitants of other planets, to discover other stars, to solve the secret of secrets - the cause of the emergence of stars, of transformation of energy into matter..." Magick Galician Folk meets Avant-Garde / Ethereal Funeral Doom. The Great Forest Spirit arrives at Neo-Tokyo. Two titans on their own, with a common thread: friendship. This split LP is a vinyl-only release featuring one long brand new song from each band. "Sangre De Muerdago's "As Voces da Pedra" brings together drone and folk with ancient instruments like the hurdy-gurdy and traditional Spanish instruments like the square drum of Peñaparda. It's a lullaby for the waning human age and a call to the planet to heal. Monarch's "Immortelles" takes the route of the spirit world, ethereal and all-encompassing and impenetrable by anyone lacking the sight it takes to look beyond physical death. This is a release that is pushes the boundaries of ambient, taking it so much further. GOVERNMENT ALPHA - 'Altar Of Precogs' 7" (Amethyst Sunset) - £8

A solid 7" from one of the masters of Japanese Noise. "The wet, sloppy undulating noise of "Flux" has a kinetic feel to it, not going for the stagnant wall noise thing... Acidic sheets of noise, slowed down dental drills, and cosmic flanged tones cluster together in complex, intermingling layers. On the flip side, "Purge" sounds like screeching tires and sine wave drones, slowly rising and falling over chirpy noise bursts. It has a relentless push, but has a more stuttering and erratic feeling compared to the expansive waves of "Flux"... Yoshida continues his streak of making compelling noise that sounds like him, but never becomes lost in a cloud of monotony. Deep industrial, space ambience and majestic choral bursts are interspersed with retro sci-fi electronica, emotive piano elements and off-world jazz. "The replicants have followed a well known path. Disagreements and divisions began to grow and sectarianism proceeded to develop. Soon it was an all out war of religious intolerance. Fighting took place and many died. Quietly, and without being noticed, those who held no radical religious beliefs gathered their things and slipped away in small ships and set course for a new life somewhere far away from the division and hatred that had developed in what was once a united community. They journeyed for many years and eventually found somewhere new. HNW master The Rita (aka Sam McKinlay of BT.HN, Vice Wears Black Hose, Black To Comm), spread across two sides of sourced wood, nylon, and mic'd knives. "Canada's master of harsh noise walls indulges in his sonic obsessions once again. Sam McKinlay proves that for a style associated with monochromatic approaches, there is much more to be explored, even if edges just so slightly into uncomfortable... sharp, serrated waves of sound that is overdriven into fatiguing, clipping levels... a nice study in abrasive textures. Cranked up, it is as jarring and punishing as any good harsh noise should be... McKinlay layers his sound distinctly, often overdriven to the point of only the smallest fragments of noise become audible.
