French enfant terrible Costes is mostly known for his extreme adult performances. Bisou asked him to make a book for children. The result is the story of "Plastic & Magic": Plastic receives a fire truck for Christmas. But the bad Monsieurs-Peur steal it from him. Fortunately his girlfriend Magic, a French boxing champion, punishes the Monsieurs-Peur and recovers the toy. To take revenge, the Monsieurs-Peur kidnap Magic and deliver her to the bad guy Giant mole. Plastic leaves with his cat on his fire truck to rescue Magic... a journey full of pitfalls, bad characters and nice animals. 48-page A5 perfect bound story book with drawings by Costes, and a 10-track CD of synth-pop nursery rhymes, songs and stories. This album reveals two new musical encounters. For the first time together, author, vocalist and keyboard player Edward Ka-Spel (The Legendary Pink Dots, Tear Garden) and sound collage wizard Steven Stapleton (Nurse With Wound) offer us a 19+ minute long piece called "The Man Who Floated Away", created in 2017. On the other piece, the master of drone Colin Potter (Nurse With Wound, Monos, Fovea Hex) and French free sax player Quentin Rollet (frequent guest with The Red Krayola, Nurse With Wound, Mendelson etc) present a long 18+ minute suite called "The Closer You Are To The Center, The Further You Are From The Edge", recorded in London in 2012, with special guest Isabelle Magnon on piano. EUGENE CHADBOURNE & STEVE BERESFORD & ALEX WARD - 'Pleasures Of The Horror' LP (Bisou) - £19

An album for children about horror movies and monsters. Some references are obvious like 'The Thing', 'Blacky Lagoon', etc, and some are about strange characters 'Vampire Tiger Girl', and some are covers (Sam And The Shams, Shockabilly). Chadbourne met Beresford and Ward at Eastcote Studios in London (where Adele, Duran Duran, Aswad, Tindersticks and Depeche Mode have recorded). They used a good part of the instruments available there (grand piano, euphonium, wood organ, sax, clarinet, amps, keyboards, guitars), with lead vocals from Chadbourne. Steve Beresford is famous for his solo recording 'The Bath Of Surprise', and was part of The Melody Four (with Lol Coxhill and Tony Coe). Alex Ward was 14 when he began playing as a duo with Derek Bailey, and as a trio with Steve Noble. The cover art is by JCMenu, the French artist who founded the graphic publishing company L'Association.

GHÉDALIA TAZARTÈS - 'La Bar Mitzvah Du Chien / Don't Cry For Me, Mamma' LP (Bisou) - £17

You want weird, you've got it. Ghédalia Tazartès is known for his world mixing styles, languages, concrete sounds. He is a kind of shaman who leads us, guides us into incredible worlds. He's made around 20 solo albums, all recorded in the same room since 1974. The "La Bar Mitzvah du Chien" side features different characters: a rabbi singing in an invented language, a shaman bewitched, a politician empty talking - all these characters are accompanied by percussion, cellos, children's choirs over an electronica backdrop. On the "Do not Cry For Me, Mama" side, he uses toy instruments, tells a story like a child, alone in his room, singing loudly a looped song above a rock and roll record. He also involved his son Lalo on this recording. Bizarre and frantic in places. There is no side A or side B strictly speaking, so there are two different covers for this album: the "Do not Cry For Me, Mama" side features a drawing by Lalo; the "La Bar Mitzvah du Chien" side features a photo of a naked man, on all fours, the 'dog' made by film cinematographer Yannick Ressigeac.

QUENTIN ROLLET & JEAN-MARC FOUSSAT & CHRISTIAN ROLLET - 'Entrée Des Puys De Grêle' CD (Bisou) - £12

Improvised power trio featuring sound engineer and synth player Jean-Marc Foussat, with father and son Christian and Quentin Rollet. Free music with a wide dynamic range and wild acoustic and electronic spaces. Jean-Marc Foussat is a famous free improviser. He made a cult record 'Abatage' in the 80's and started his own label Fou Records in 2012. Christian Rollet is the drummer of Le Workshop de Lyon, one of the oldest french free jazz bands (50 years of activity in 2017) and founded the ARFI collective in 1977. He also plays in La Marmite Infernale and many other projects. Quentin Rollet, son of Christian Rollet, plays alto and sopranino sax. He ran Rectangle record label from 1995-2004 and then began Bisou label in 2015 with Isabelle Magnon. He mostly plays free music and has played with bands like Nurse With Wound, The Red Krayola, Prohibition, Mendelson, and Thierry Müller. Gatefold digisleeve.

QUENTIN ROLLET / THIERRY MÜLLER - 'On Your Body's Landscape' LP (Bisou) - £17

Thierry Müller, known for his albums under the name of Ilitch, and his hit "Polaroid/Roman/Photo" under the name of Ruth, has created music mixing synthesizers and guitar since the late 70's. Quentin Rollet is best known for his free-style sax playing and participation in groups like Nurse With Wound, The Red Krayola, Mendelson, Prohibition etc. After many encounters they decided to work together, concluding that the next step would be recording without repetition. The session - their first musical encounter - took place in Thierry Müller's studio. All tracks are improvised, recorded live in very few takes, and worked in the studio by Patrick Müller, who also mixed and mastered the album. The result is an instrumental album, very cinematic 'Electronic / Future Jazz / Space-Age Ambient'.

Reissue of "Felk Moon", the 2018 album by Red. This edition is presented in a 108-page perfect-bound art book showing 100 drawings by Red himself, selected from the 500 covers created for the first vinyl edition on LP. Red opens "Felk Moon" by the loop of the last track of "Felk", his first album released in 2000, with the voice of Margot Lambin at 3 and 20 years old. Welcoming the unexpected of familiar sounds and outdoor sounds, this new album was also recorded at home, with doors and windows open. In his tender and intimate world he invites Bertrand Belin (violin, voice and bass) for a warm and vibrant duo on Bunch Of Teens, summons the spirit of Gil Scott-Heron through his version of "We Almost Lost Detroit", and invites his accomplice Philippe Tessier (tenor saxophone) who brings a free touch to Red's electronic folk blues on "I'm Weird". ROMAIN PERROT (VOMIR) & QUENTIN ROLLET - 'L'Impatience des Invisibles' CD (Decimation Sociale) - £11

"You know Romain Perrot as the man behind Vomir, the harsh noise wall project... Quentin Rollet is an irregular contributor to Nurse With Wound... Of the two, Perrot is the one who produces the most radical tones on his keyboards, electronics and even a bit of voice. There are stabs of white noise, hiss, peeps and cracks; synthesizer bubbling and bursting and never leap into something coherent, even when in 'Sans Aveu' has a repeating synth-line in the best industrial music tradition. It is mayhem all around and that's where Rollet fits in nicely. His alto and sopranino saxophones play a likewise chaotic tune and are certainly from the realm of free jazz... The result is a fine set of five pieces of intense music... there is no wall of feedback, no endless bursts of distortion, but sounds cutting in and out of the mix, especially in their usage of synthesizers... a great burst of energy here" (Vital Weekly). 50 mins. SJUNDE INSEGLET - 'Shadow Projection' CD (Zazen Sounds) - £12

The Shadow Mind behind Black Metal Hordes, well known as Mortuus and Ofermod, manifests his hidden aspects through this devoted black magick / demonomancy project. Sjunde Inseglet ("The Seventh Seal") is Swedish dark ambient focused on ritual music and aural backgrounds for Left Hand Path practices. "Shadow Projection" was recorded after a rather harsh magical working wherein the Shadow self took on an autonomous form. It draws from that very source. STEVE DALACHINSKY & THE SNOBS - 'Pretty In The Morning' CD + Book (Bisou) - £18

Formed near Paris by Mad Rabbit (vocals, production) and Duck Feeling (all instruments), The Snobs have produced experimental rock since 2003. Their last album "A Life Aglow" (2018) was a 13-track collection showing the band's psychedelic and pop personality, full of analogue synthesizers, Rickenbacker, piano, sitar and Mellotron. Outside of these duo's records, they regularly work with New York poet Steve Dalachinsky with whom they released "Massive Liquidity" (2011) and "ec(H)o - system" (2015). Joined on stage by Devil Sister and Fuzzy Weasel since 2012, they collectively wrote this new album "Pretty In The Morning". Steve Dalachinsky passed away in November 2019. "Relentless" is the very last release of Sutcliffe Jugend, and certainly the most brutal. Approximately 4 hours of ecstatic extreme expressionism. It's brutal, violent, unforgiving and unapologetic art. A brutal and violent unjust world makes for brutal, violent and some would say 'unjust' art. We say let the world see itself before it drowns in its own sh*t. "Relentless" was primarily recorded using analogue synthesizers, guitar and vocals. Part written, part improvised the aim was to capture the relentless intensity of their incredible late period live shows, testing the listeners and indeed their own endurance limits. After this release there is nowhere else left to go. "Relentless" lives up to its name. SJ now record as Slaves No More. The circle is closed. CREBAIN - 'Night Of Stormcrow' CD (Tumult) - £11

Vicious, one-man USBM beast Crebain unleashes it's legendary 2003 demo "Night Of Stormcrow" on CD-proper for the first time. "Less atmospheric than Xasthur, and less f**ked up than Leviathan, but equally true and black, Crebain follows his own dark path straight to the pits of hell" (Aquarius Records). Hailing from San Francisco, Crebain was created after the demise of the band Gauderon Dherg in 1999. Three of GD's tracks are included here as a bonus.

Nordvargr once again joins forces with fellow MZ.412 cohort Drakh, for another essential output, delicately balanced between dark ambience and grim blackness. 'The Betrayal Of Light' is one massive sonic event, a black cloud of sound. Slow beautiful crawls, murky soundfields and a delicate web of softly plucked guitar strings are swallowed by massive mournful dirges and majestic, funereal doom.
