DIASTOLIC MURMURS / FURT - 'Hospital Of The Soul #1' CD (Psych.KG) - £11

The Diastolic Murmurs formed in 1985 during electro-acoustic research within Phillip Wachsmann's legendary Electronic Music studio (now demolished) at the City Literary Institute, London. Primarily their aesthetic was to explore as fully as possible the "occult" sound-world inherent in any given object or material (with a preference for the damaged, broken, and discarded) and their extraction or autopsy with the use of contact microphones. In the mid 1980's they performed what they termed "live" Electronic Dissections, turning their microcosm into a macrocosm, acutely aware perhaps of Artaud's call for "sounds that cannot be endured". This is a reissue of their 1993 cassette only release, transferred from the original DAT master by Richard Barrett at the Institute for Sonology, Den Haag, and remastered in Belgrade, June 2019. Ltd x 200 hand-numbered copies in a 7" PVC sleeve with several inserts.

JENNIFER GENTLE - 'Jennifer Gentle' 2 x LP (Backwards) - £20

Jennifer Gentle are one of the most idiosyncratic Italian bands ever. Led by Marco Fasolo, they started their career in the early 2000's as slightly stoned-out-of-their-minds teens equally able to manage short psych pop explosions and 20-minute brain melting freakouts. They became the first Italian band to sign to American label Sub Pop, releasing two critically acclaimed albums. After a 9-year haitus in which Fasolo concentrated on soundtrack work, Jennifer Gentle return with a new, immaculately producted, self-titled album. It's a sprawling, full-bodied release touching all of Fasolo's musical obsessions: it effortlessly bounces from JG's trademark psych-rock, to experimental soul/funk, intricate baroque ballads, to Joe Meek-like instrumentals, without losing its focus on mood and detailed song construction. Split featuring French industrial / techno artist Klaus Legal and Russian post-hop / noise act Ivan Bookwar. Klaus Legal: "Cataractic Industrial Noise. Using controllers, lights and photosensitive synths, Klaus Legal produces rhythms and waves of sounds, which are modulated through effects in order to get different kind of soundscapes. Referred to as blinding techno, power electronics not-for-epileptic, industrial music for eyes and ears". Led by the band's namesake, Ivan Bookwar is an electronic experimental post-hop project from Moscow, whose music is recorded live using analogue soviet synths (Polivox, Altair 231, Ritm-2) and soviet drum machines (Lel UDS, Rokton). MICHEL HENRITZI & IKURO TAKAHASHI - 'We Were There' CD (E--Klageto / Psych.KG) - £11

A 48-minute collaborative psych-rock / experimental piece featuring drums from Ikuro Takahashi and Lap Steel Guitar from Michel Henritzi. Legendary drummer, Ikuro Takahashi played in most of the important bands of the psychedelic underground Japanese scene: Keiji Haino's Fushitsusha, Seishokki, High Rise, Ché-Shizu, Maher Shalal Hash Baz, Kousokuya, LSD March and Nagisa Ni Te, to name a few. "Ikuro Takahashi is like a weaver trapping our listening in his electric wires, dragging us in a flux of rhythmic, fluid, circular patterns". French artist and writer Michel Henritzi was involved in different industrial and rock bands in the late 70's, before joining the collective Nox. He also created the label AKT Production in 1984 and now runs the label A Bruit Secret. Since 1988 he has been working with the band Dustbreeders, and has mounted numerous productions of different anti-records. E-klageto Club Edition, recorded in Gent 23.05.2018. RUSALKA - 'Base Waters' LP (Absurd Exposition) - £20

The debut vinyl release from Vancouver's Rusalka (aka Kate Rissiek), who has been a mainstay of the west coast Canadian harsh noise scene for over a decade. Within those years a line can be traced that has continued to tighten around a formidable body of work - from solo releases on labels such as New Forces, to splits with the likes of MK9 and THE RITA, and an appearance on the "Projekt Neue Ordnung II' compilation from Tesco Organisation. Using a theremin as a centerpiece, Rusalka leads us straight into a harsh noise odyssey of oceanic depths - but something is lurking beneath the waves. It;s dark. Fog horns sound. A lighthouse is pulsating. Underwater evasion. Capitulation. Receding tides. No respite. These waters run thick. Rusalka stands out as a visceral, abrasive noise act. A struggle between filth and transcendence, stirring together crude electronics and an ethereal electromagnetic grasp for emergence. Ltd x 221 copies with insert and download code.

Founded in 1979, The Haters are one of the earliest and most well-known acts in the modern noise scene. The group is primarily the work of the Hollywood-based media artist, writer, and filmmaker GX Jupitter-Larsen, accompanied by a constantly changing lineup of other "members". Vukovar formed in 2014 in a crumbling placefiller town in the North West of England and set about creating their own world within an otherworld. In their short yet eternal time, they have been relentlessly productive. Cremator is their 7th album and marks The First Death of the group: the ending of the Shades incarnation / incarceration. Heavily featured are Simon Morris (Ceramic Hobs, Smell & Quim), as well as Holly Hero (Smell & Quim). ALEXANDR MATOCHKIN - 'Traditional Woeful Folksongs Of Russian Kin' LP (Vegvisir Music) - £11

Daring fun, kosovorotkas and kokoshniks, clapping and stomping - such associations we have now with the words "Russian song". Here is the other face of Russian song heritage - a selection of songs from the collection of Alexander Matochkin, among which are Russian folk songs, some foreign and the author's songs too. Alexander Matochkin was born and grew up in an urban environment, where Russian traditional song is a real rarity now. No wonder - true folk, not arranged and not accompanied by instrument song is a real surprise to the modern listener - such inescapable, ultimate Russian melancholy is in it. Alexander mastered the traditional Russian songs in the folk ensemble of the St. Petersburg State University. For 15 years he studied folk songs, toured with expeditions in the Russian North, has collected many ancient tunes and tales. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digipak with booklet.

BAK DE SYV FJELL - 'Bak De Syv Fjell' CD-EP (Frostscald Records) - £9

A short-lived project of Einar Selvik (Wardruna, Skuggsjá, Jotunspor, ex-Gorgoroth) and Haavard (ex-Taake), Bak De Syv Fjell ("Behind The Seven Mountains") refers to Bergen's seven mountains. This is a reissue of their debut (and only) release, originally a limited 7" from 1997. One of the most captivating pieces of Black Metal / Folk Metal to come out of Norway in the 90's.

CAMERATA MEDIOLANENSE - 'MDXXX' CD (Creative Fields Recs) - £12

"MDXXX", Camerata Mediolanense's first official live album, includes twelve tracks, two of which are previously unreleased, taken from two concerts: Leipzig, Germany, 2nd June 2001 (at Wave Gotik Treffen) and Landgraf, Holland, 8th August 2001. Born in 1994 from the odd fellowship of young musicians active both in the classical music milieu and on the post-punk/gothic scene, Camerata Mediolanense proposes a kind of neoclassical music with strong tribal contaminations, in a blend of melody, percussion and experimentation that has rendered the band unique on the contemporary scene. This becomes evident in its not so frequent performances, where the combination of the various elements creates a power of sound, a performing ability and an evocative quality that have rendered Camerata Mediolanense's concerts pure events. Includes the floor-filler "Il Trionfo di Bacco e Arianna". A faithful witness of the band's double performance. Ltd x 1000 copies in an embossed digipak with booklet.

DVAR - 'Piirah' LP (Vegvisir Music) - £15

"An occult, ecstatic and possessed record. Really dark, harrowing and obscure sounds. Sick and hysterical, extramundane and howling cantations in an unknown language". First and cult album from this anonymous Russian project from the early 2000's. A milestone of the Russian darkwave scene, now released for the first time on vinyl. Originally released on CD by S.P.K.R. in 2002. Special analogue mastering especially for this release, featuring minimalistic artwork closely resembling the first edition. Ltd x 211 copies.

NORDVARGR - 'The Secret Barbarous Names' CD (Malignant Records) - £11

Extended CD version of a digital EP, which was self-released mid-2016, now with 4 bonus tracks. Few names within the realm of dark industrial and blackened ambient carry more weight and presence than Sweden's mighty Nordvargr (MZ.412, Pouppée Fabrikk, Folkstorm etc). A vocal based work inspired by the Draconian and Typhonian traditions, the title refers to the hidden meanings of the countless manuscripts that have been kept secret for millennia - their supposed effectiveness resting in their utterance, not their meaning. The words of power, vibrated at the correct frequency and amplitude in the correct setting and time, have the power to manifest anything. As such, these are an incredibly haunting and formidable invocations, built upon richly timbered, incantatory vocals and deep, liturgical chants, and occasionally augmented by ominous orchestral swell and ritual percussion. All of it is endlessly stretched out into lightless passages of primordial malevolence and suffocating dread. Comes in a 6-panel digipak designed by Margaux Renaudin (Anima Nostra).

SPLENDOR SOLIS - 'Letum... Non Omnia Finit' CD (Vegvisir Music) - £10.50

North Russian act Splendor Solis (lat. Shining of the Sun) mixes dark folk instruments, neoclassical compositional methods and early European musical heritage. Their lyrics - written in Latin - are inspired by medieval European theology, apocalyptic symbolism, and also by theosophical doctrines and mystical branches of buddism. Splendor Solis' debut album is dedicated to the infinite reincarnation of the soul of a man. The album has been created using acoustic instruments only. The music is harmonious and melodic. VISHUDHA KALI - 'Psenodakh' CD (Vegvisir Music) - £10.50

Ritual Ambient / Ethno-noise. This opus consists of 4 long ritual tracks recorded with sounds of breathing and vocals, acoustically processed through natural and exclusive equipment. The music of this album was heard by the author while in the Caucasian mountains at the shore of partly ice-covered alpine Psenodakh Lake (Fisht-Oshten pass). Psenodakh means "lost in the middle of moutains". Vishudha Kali presents hymns to the natural mysteries of wind, water, stonefalls, wild animals and birds as well as Sanskrit chants. Originally released on Fight Muzik in 2002, now reissued onto CD proper for the first time, featuring a bonus 2-part track - a Vishudha Kali song named "Ritual from fire" and the song "Haidakhandi Aarti Sankirtan" - a very rare archive record of Hindustani saint Mahavatar Shree Haidakhan Babaji made by the officiary of Soviet Embrace in India - previously only available on the original die-hard collector's edition of 33.
