AETHYRICK - 'Gnosis' CD (The Sinister Flame) - £11

Formed on winter solstice 2016, Finnish duo Aethyrick's Black Metal brims with a mysticism and magick that is simultaneously aeons-old and strikingly modern. Gnosis is a deceptively subtle spin in relation to its predecessor Praxis. One could almost argue that Gnosis' embrace is a warmer, more comforting one, its hanging and somber melodicism pulling on the heartstrings in unusual ways. But, pull back this development and one finds stark and glittering Black Metal suffused with the same mysticism and magick that so endeared Praxis to the intrepid and intractable. Obsidian sonics for dreamers and rogues, theorists and realists, this is black metal of a proudly purist stripe.

ALIEN BRAINS - 'Live At The Basement' CD (VLZ Produkt) - £15

For this performance, Alien Brains consisted of members Nigel Jacklin, Neal Purvis, Richard and Philip Rupenus (The New Blockaders). Presented for the first time on CD, the Industrial masterpiece "Live At The Basement", was recorded at The Basement, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, 14th February 1982. A chaotic whirlpool of distorted voices, muffled screams, electronics, metallic squeaking, melancholic metallic sounds, and chaotic mayhem, with heavenly echoes leading to a gloomy journey into the industrial subconscious. The accompanying 12-page booklet features valuable recent interviews with its founder, Nigel Jacklin, shedding light on this mysterious and legendary group. Previously released on tape in 1982 (Aeon) and LP in 2007 (Tub Of Guts). Restored by Phil Julian (Cheapmachines). ASMUS TIETCHENS + CV LIQUIDSKY - 'Monoposto' CD (Die Stadt / Auf Abwegen) - £13

The 17th and final part in the re-release series of all early Tietchens albums between 1980-1991, "Monoposto" was originally released on LP by Dom Elchklang in 1991. "It was just before the end of the heroic times when CV Liquidsky and I decided to record a studio album together... I got to know Liquidsky's musical side as him being one half of the industrial music duo Cinema Verite, and at the same time through his journalistic skills, writing excellent reports about the Hamburg and International music and cultural scenes. Our work scheme was to try and record one track per nightly session, and when ever we met in the studio we stuck / clung to this strict working method. It was our intention to avoid making a perfect studio album. Improvisation, chance, errors and spontaneous decisions were the game plan. No ironing out and no corrections were made. It was Liquidsky who persuaded me to accept this almost Dadaistic concept... He concentrated on his guitar and I concentrated on the electrical treatments. Later a good friend of ours described the music as a mixture of apathy and ecstasy, beauty and ugliness. In fact I never worked on an album with such a melancholic note before of ever after... Andrea Hoffmann (Liquidski) died on 6th September 1998". Includes 3 bonus tracks and comes with a poster booklet featuring the original front and back cover. Ltd x 600 copies.

"The Doctrine Of Maybeness" is an anthology of the works of Aural Rage - aka Danny Hyde, an engineer, programmer, producer, collaborator, remixer, and co-conspirator of Coil, Nine Inch Nails, Psychic TV, Depeche Mode, and many others. A 15 year anniversary of musical adventure on 3 x CDs collating: "A Nature Of Nonsense", "Sinsemilla Dreams" and "Svay Pak", along with unreleased bonus tracks. Danny Hyde contributed many unique sounds to Coil's legacy and worked on their legendary albums "Horse Rotovator" and "Love's Secret Domain", onto "The New Backwards". This album contains 6 untitled tracks produced by Francisco López in 2018. 'Untitled #368' was created using field recordings in South Africa; 'Untitled #363' was created under commission from the Beijing exhibition "Xcelerater", the cool ensemble 'Untitled #367' has fine particles and a deep drone, sounding like Lopez but and with a more rich and varied palette; there is a noise track like a high-speed cut-up collage; and a magnificent track 'Untitled #362' constructed by using female voices in multiple layers. The 2nd release in German Army's archival series. This installment collates the 2014 cassette releases "Barrineans", "T'rung" and "German Army", plus a previously unreleased track from those recording sessions. The result is a massive 36 track near 2 hour collection. All tracks were resequenced for this release and remastered. "...experimental industrial, with plenty of ventures into the mystical / shamanic / ritualistic realm. Lots of distorted voices (but not used in a similar way on every track), some detached rhythms, lots of hazy echo and fading into a different dream scene... A limited edition boxset containing all parts in the Kontakt Der Jünglinge series: "1", "0", "-1", "n" in individual card sleeves, plus an exclusive 3" CD featuring for the first time studio material by renowned sound sculptors Thomas Köner and Asmus Tietchens. The artists have a mutual talent of building a sound landscape of striking depths that, if the listener is willing, will draw him in further and further with every new listen. The main four parts are rare performances at the turn of the millennium. "0' was recorded inside the M.S. Stubnitz ship, Rostock, 10/02/01. Much more 'basic' in the use of sounds than their first CD "1" (recorded at Lagerhaus, Bremen, 17/12/99), the 43 minute long track creates a more dense and dark atmosphere with occasional rhythmic additions, seeming to reflect the space it was recorded in. "-1" features their second performance at the Lagerhaus 28/04/01. "N" marks the end of the first phase in their mutual work featuring the familiar 'classic' cover style, recorded 28/05/02 at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and shows the two treading on quieter grounds this time - crackles, drones, vast spaces with erratic noises. LAGOWSKI - 'Secrets of Numbers' CD (Zoharum) - £12

After a few years break Andrew Lagowski (S.E.T.I.) returns with a new 10-track album of electronic music preserved in techno stylistics that bring to mind his "Redesine +" album or achievements known from his EPs released on Chronium Industries. Lagowski speaks about the album's concept: "All of the music I make is an attempt at understanding or interpreting something; my psyche, the universe around me, the people I exist with, human behaviour, time... A few months before my father passed away (in October 2000), he gave me a small book called Secrets Of Numbers, which is about numerology. It was quite unusual for him to do something like that, as he was generally not interested in such things. It made me wonder if he was trying to tell me something, as after all, I am his SoN". MACHINEFABRIEK - 'Amalgaam' CD (Zoharum) - £12

"Amalgaam" is a raw and unpolished album. The grainy, textural sounds on this record have a fleeting, cinematic quality to them, combining spaciousness with a sense of intimacy - at times interrupted by noisier outbursts. The album is based on a series of improvisations on a very hands-on hardware setup, with an old tone generator, effects pedals, dictaphones, contact mics, etc. This material was then mixed and edited into the pieces on this album, while retaining the liveliness of the source material. The only deviation is 'Metallic (Edit)', which is an older track that originally appeared on a Japanese compilation tape, but - especially in this newly edited form - seemed to fit between the "Amalgaam" pieces perfectly. NATT - 'A Better Place' MCD Tin (Zoharum) - £9.50

Natt is a co-creator of the project DREN, which led to creation and release of the album 'Time & Form' in 2019 (available from us on CD or vinyl). The album was well-received by the audience seeking more off-beat and unique sounds. This MCD, "A Better Place" contains four compositions (20 minutes): a coherent whole, an unusual story. This is pulsating electronic music, still leaning towards darkness, but this time making more space for melodic tunes, with glitches and nuances - that's how each piece is built and arranged. "A Better Place" is a promise of something bigger, which served piece by piece, will allow the audience to get to know Natt's creative work better. NNHMN - 'Shadow In The Dark' CD (Zoharum) - £12

NYTT LAND - 'Cvlt' CD (Infinite Fog Productions / Ksenza Records) - £12.50

The 6th album from Nordic Folk Ritual band Nytt Land features ritual songs of ancient Siberia in an atmospheric mix of traditional throat singing, authentic musical instruments, overdriven guitars and electronic music. "Cvlt" is more aggressive, harder, but at the same time more folklore in the traditional sense than previous albums. For the first time Nytt Land break from only performing the Old Norse epic and here present to the world ancient ritual songs of the indigenous peoples of their native Siberia. It is the ancient traditional ritual songs of the tribes that have inhabited Siberia from time immemorial that are the most valuable heritage and cultural monument of their land. In the new arrangements, they pay more attention to electronic sounds, using a full drum-set and overdriven guitars, giving the album more emotional facets. All this gives the album a more 'folk rock' sound than previous albums and was inspired by the creativity of bands such as Garmarna, Dead Can Dance, and Nine Inch Nails. However, Nytt Land continue their serious research, diligently studying a large number of Siberian dialects, indigenous peoples and language phonetics, creating an authentic album in the Siberian tongue. The also continue to use their trademark traditional instruments and overtone throat singing for that distinctive Nytt Land sound. Guests: Tuomas Rounakari and Jonne Järvelä (Korpiklaani). PERISHED - 'Through The Black Mist' CD (The Sinister Flame) - £11

True Norwegian Black Metal, recorded during the deep winter darkness. First-time reissue of this classic demo, with a bonus track. "One of the most notable Norwegian demos of 1994. The music is mostly in the vein of Dimmu Borgir ("For All Tid" era) and Satyricon ("Dark Medieval Times" era): black metal with synth, which is pretty catchy without being too soft. They also use acoustic guitar occasionally to spice things up and create a medieval atmosphere... The riffs are mostly melancholic, with the synths complementing them in a good way. A feeling of sadness penetrates the songs even if there are a lot of fast parts as well... there are some truly great songs here" (Metal Archives).

RAPOON - 'Ghosts From A Machine' 3 x CD (Zoharum) - £22

The compilation "Ghost From A Machine" was originally issued by Vinyl-On-Demand as a 3LP set in 2010. It contains alternative versions of pieces which were created while the early albums of Rapoon - mainly "Raising Earthly Spirits", "Fallen Gods", "Vernal Crossing", "Easterly 6 Or 7" - were in the making. All those pieces were put together by Robin Storey and Frank Mayer to create an entirely new triple album. For 10 years since the premiere, that release has become a rare collector's item and surely a delight for the refined collector. This new edition, prepared together by the Robin Storey and Zoharum Records, visually and sonically refers to the first edition, creating a sort of a replica, available for the first time on 3CDs. Rapoon is the ethno-ambient solo project of Zoviet France co-founder Robin Storey. The music of Rapoon reflects the fascination for the minimalistic but rhythmic music of West-Africa and India. Rapoon uses the musical construction techniques of loops and rhythmic repetition as a kind of platform for inducing a sort of trance like reception. Ltd x 500 copies in a 8-panel triple digipak.

THE NEW BLOCKADERS - 'Live At The Rammel Club / The Dome' CD (VLZ Produkt) - £12.50

Two rare live performances by The New Blockaders, celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2012: Broken Flag Festival at The Dome in London and Harbinger Sound Festival at Rammel Club in Nottingham. Rammel Club: "Around 100 folk saw TNB wreck the stage with wood, metal, tools and glass. Visceral and edgy with sawing metal abuse, high pitched frequencies, the audience getting a little nervous maybe, TNB feeding off this with one masked provocateur hurling a wooden table into the throng where it flies tracer like onto my head before someone picks it up and hurls it back, along with a few beer cans spraying their emptying contents for good measure" (Idwal Fisher). The Dome: "The New Blockaders concluded the Broken Flag Never Say When festival, which had been an exhilarating weekend. Fittingly, it was a conclusion of pure noise, a tidal wave of nasty, enervated saturation. TNB go beyond pure noise and into something approaching, but resolutely sneering at, the avant garde. Ultimately, with their ferocity and nihilism, TNB brought matters full circle, back to the roots of Broken Flag's underground spirit, but without ever dispelling the magic that had gone before" (The Laminal). VELTZ - 'Secret Performance' CD (VLZ Produkt) - £12.50

An archive featuring a large number of unpublished tracks that cover the wide range of experimental properties of Veltz over a 6-year period. The title work "Secret Performance" is a complete recording of the event at Daikanyama Tokyo where power electronics stalwarts Ramleh, Cut Hands and Incapacitants played in 2011. Veltz opened the event, masked and in full-body black costumes, their identity undisclosed. The album opens with a silent track, "World Is Loud"; an artistic response to the modern world, which is filled with too much information and disturbing air. It also contains music made with analogue TVs, pulse tech noise, a drone orchestra by six saxophones and a violin, and cassette tape recorder noises. Collaborators include Keisuke Murai and Hisashi Nishihara. The whole album is a dedicated to the "reconstruction of music by waste" and is an important archive board as a bridge to their future pop direction. Ltd x 300 copies in a jewelcase with obi strip.

ZERO KAMA - 'Zero Kama' 3 x LP Boxset (Infinite Fog Productions) - £56

Zero Kama was an experimental music project founded by Zoe DeWitt in 1983. Appearing after an initial outing on the cult compilation "The Beast 666" (Nekrophile, 1983), the debut album "The Secret Eye of L.A.Y.L.A.H." (1984) is regarded as one of the key albums of ritual industrial music. The fact that all instruments used for this recording were exclusively made from human bones and skulls, its elusive musical style, the implied occult symbolism, as well as the short-time existence of Zero Kama, have all contributed to the cult status of this project. After playing two live concerts in the Netherlands in 1985, and featuring on the Nekrophile compilation "The Archangels Of Sex Rule The Destruction Of The Regime", Zero Kama completely withdrew from the public. Infinite fog Productions now presents a complete anthology release of Zero Kama featuring, for the first time ever, everything recorded by the project on one set: "The Secret Eye of L.A.Y.L.A.H.", "Live In Arnhem" (previously released by Athanor in 2008), and "The Goatherd And The Beast" (a collection of all compilation tracks, previously released by Athanor on 10" in 2001). The recordings were transferred from original tapes, carefully mastered by Martin Bowes at the Cage Studios and Micro Majong at Micro Majong Studio. Beautiful ambient drones, photorealistic music, and sounds of the physical world that you can''t usually hear. "Pathophysiology" was first issued as a cassette by OEC in 1995, released as a very limited CDR in 2002 (ltd 50, Transf.Order), and onto expanded CDR in 2006 (ltd 100, OEC). Now, after 24 years, this legendary album has finally been given the CD-proper edition it deserves. For the expanded 2006 release the tape was completely remastered at Sweet Slaughter by Marco Corbelli himself. The original tape recordings were fleshed out by two unreleased tracks recorded in 1995 and two unreleased tracks recorded in 2002. This was and is still the best Italian Morgue P/E Industrial. DAVID JACKMAN - 'Herbstsonne' CD (Die Stadt) - £14.50

A new work by David Jackman (Organum), "Herbstsonne" consists of a single 47 minute long track which is the result of recording sessions at RMS Studios, South London in 2018. Using the sounds of tanpura, piano, organ and bells, the music perfectly captures the title of the piece which translates to "Autumn Sun". "Deliberately minimalist in arrangement, but with an unquestionable dedication to the finest detail of sounds, it is another work of fascinating beauty by the legendary artist... some of the most engrossing music I have heard all year" (Brainwashed). ELECTRIC SEWER AGE - 'Contemplating Nothingness' CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £15

Electric Sewer Age was born as an "anonymous / secret and aural experiment" in 2006. In fact this project was a collaboration between Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson (legendary former member of Throbbing Gristle / COIL / Psychic TV) and long time friend and collaborator Danny Hyde (the sound-maestro behind many COIL albums, and Aural Rage). Following the unexpected passing of Sleazy in 2010 and after the publication of first posthumous Electric Sewer Age album, ESA became the solo project of Danny Hyde. Five years after the last album "Bad White Corpuscle", the long-awaited third chapter in the ESA saga, is here. Very elegant, first-class electronic muzak. Danny was the sound engineer for a number of COIL albums, e.g. "Love's Secret Domain" which clearly bears his mark... similarly doped sounds and muzak can also be deeply heard on this new release. On the second disc sounds are exploding deep into poly-rhythmics, continuously beating and popping plus additional squeezing and exploding sounds (The Pop-Corn Psychedelia). ORCHESTRA TERRESTRIAL - 'Here And Elsewhere' CD (Die Stadt) - £16

"Here And Elsewhere" is a foray by Richard H Kirk (CABARET VOLTAIRE) into deep ambient and orchestral motifs. We recognise Kirk's sound immediately in the opening sections; a gradual drift into a calm and tranquil atmosphere, with a noticeable fringe of darkness around its edges. Calm, sweet and sad melodies carry these pieces through ambient territories, keeping things on a highly suggestive level. The rhythms are more implied than they are explicit, whatever beats appear are muted and softened, which makes this music all the more interesting for what it withholds from the listener. The pieces build slowly and move steadily. Dark drones blend with loops of submerged sounds and sampled / synthetic strings, exploring the realms of the deep in a manner that can be both fluid and repetitive with the presence of rhythmic, melodic and abstract loops. Music for quiet times, the soundtrack for a day of dreaming.
