DANIEL MENCHE - 'Primal Fictions' LP + Free 3" CD (Ferns Recordings) - £18

"Primal Fictions" may sound like the early work of a literary novelist, but words are not Daniel Menche's chosen form of expression - instead, sound and noise form the foundation of his 30 year dedication to abstract sonic exploration. The music here is a prime display of Menche's unique approach to field recordings and electronic manipulation. An earthly marriage of the acoustic and electronic worlds, "Primal Fictions" is a stunning example of Menche's immersive and overwhelming music, one that invites the listener to become lost inside a vast sound forest. LINEKRAFT - 'Death Still Persist' CD (SSSM) - £12

Linekraft (aka Masahiko Okubo of GRIM / MOTHRA) has been gaining international recognition in recent years of Japanese industrial harsh noise / Power Electronics, from electronic noises, mixed with metal percussion and threatening, shouting vocals. A fierce, heavy and sonic space constructed world! The crushed black sound of a crushed black sound, a threatening nightmare, and a terrifying sound soul. You can also hear new developments, including the introduction of mellow synth sounds. The music presented here is a soundtrack for people who live a reality survival life north of the black sea. Hate is a life in a land where news reports mundanely state "you came home after work to find your private automobile burnt", "your friend who disappeared abruptly was found dead in an outlying forest", "patriots with automatic rifles bolt out at once from the bush by radiocast signals", yet "clear weather throughout the whole land". MARC BEHRENS - 'Entity Mülheim' 2 x DVD (Auf Abwegen) - £13

Double DVD release documenting a sound installation dealing with the suburb of Mülheim in the City of Cologne. Based on field recordings, interviews with the population and photographs the electronic and concrete music sound / video-installation presents a very personal but nevertheless insightful portrait of this diverse urban area. The sound installation was commissioned by Kulturbunker Mülheim e.v. as part of the festival Mülheim Klingt in 2005. Ltd x 500 copies in a DVD-sized super jewelcase with 12-page booklet, with texts in German, English and Turkish.. NTSC, region-free.

It's an uncompromising confrontation with the Zeitgeist, brimming from start to end with a sense of tragic urgency. Inspired by the Sturm und Drang movement, singer songwriter Richard Leviathan weaves a barbed thread through the centuries, from the battle cry of the Norse god Wieland to the contemporary echoes of failed Utopias, mass Narcissism, the loss of love and the death of hope. This is an album for the times, a bleak yet stirring harbinger of a dark new decade. "Evocative titles, intellectually stimulating poetry, strong melodies, a feel for language, smooth clear voices and a polished professional sound characterise the work of Ostara" (Flux Europa). PAUL SCHÜTZE - 'Without Thought' CD (Auf Abwegen) - £12

A 64-minute ambient soundtrack for installation, with earth and sea elements. "This work continues a theme of anti-narrative which has been present in my sound-works for nearly four decades. We make stories to emboss meaning onto the surfaces of life. Those surfaces shrug of our scribbling like leviathans in troubled slumber" (Paul Schütze, London, 2020). "...the word meandering is the major thing here. It goes on and on but never stays the same, always in slightly different configurations and with spacious yet very gentle drones. You don't sit down and listen closely to the music, but instead, you should [set] this up as an environment for yourself, separate from the video and the fragrance, and let run on repeat for a while. I did that and drifted in and out most of the time, as good ambient should do." (Vital Weekly). Digisleeve.

ROME - 'The Dublin Session' CD (Trisol) - £11.50

In May 2019, Jerome Reuter spent some quality time among friends in Dublin and ended up recording a selection of several new and gripping folk compositions. During these stout-fuelled sessions, local talents were quickly recruited to join in the fun and to give the tracks the necessary Irish grit with traditional instruments such as banjo, bouzouki and uilleann pipes. The tracks this motley band cut in Dublin's legendary Sonic Studio are all completely new and unreleased songs, combining elements of the traditional world of Irish folk music and its up-beat feel, with ROME's rather sombre contemporary songwriting and neofolk sentiment. A special appearance on the haunting ballad "Evropa Irredenta" is delivered by Sweden's THÅSTRÖM. 6-panel digipak with hefty 16-page lyric booklet. Highly recommened!

TAETER & SEKTOR 304 - 'The Hermeneutics Of The Hunt Has Gone Full Circle' MCD (New Approach Records) - £10

Expanded reissue of an excellent Power Electronics 7" by Italy's TAETER (Nicola Vinciguerra of Fecalove), with 3 brand new tracks created by Portugal's SEKTOR 304 (André Coelho of Metadevice, Beyond Enclosure). Nicola contributed with alternative versions of the two tracks that came in that original release (2015), and the collaboration took shape in its updated incarnation. The music retains its atmosphere of uneasiness; its pulsating decrepitude, the personal recounts of over-sexualized failure whispered to our ears by a sweaty entity. André shreds Nicola's seed unto a more arid and diluted fluid, infusing it with a twisted sci-fi vibe, a vile mechanical eroticism that deforms and suffocates its host. Minimal and obsessive, degraded past recognition as the blurry memories of an old late night amateur webcam session. A consistent record, which should hopefully help to expose more listeners to this excellent project. 27 mins. Ltd x 200 copies in a digisleeve with explicit artwork.

Each artist introduces us to their vision of post-industrial music and culture, from the perspective of a region where musicians are growing with their own sonic and artistic identities. Music inspired by the descent into hell, and the demonic and allegoric figures from Dante's poem by: RAPOON (Robin Storey of Zoviet France) & SONOLOGYST (Raffaele Pezzella), KAMMARHEIT (Pär Boström of Cities Last Broadcast), GIANLUCA BECUZZI (Kinetix), SAMUEL GOFF (RAIC), DANIEL BARBIERO, CRISTIANO BOCCI, COBI VAN TONDER, MARIO LINO STANCATI, LARS BRÖNDUM, and DEAD SPACE CHAMBER MUSIC. Dante's Inferno, widely hailed as one of the great classics of Western literature, details Dante's journey through the nine circles of Hell. The voyage begins during Easter week in the year 1300, the descent through Hell starting on Good Friday. After meeting his guide, the eminent Roman poet Virgil, in a mythical dark wood, the two poets begin their descent through a baleful world of doleful shades, horrifying tortures, and unending lamentation. During their journey, Dante and Virgil meet a series of diabolical and demonic figures that characterize, in a highly expressionistic way, the various stages of the descent that will lead them to the end of the journey. 6COMM & FREYA ASWYNN - 'The Fruits Of Yggdrasil' CD (Hau Ruck!) - £11.50

Yggdrasil is the cosmic ash tree, it is Odin's steed and gallows from whence the runes were delivered to the world. It is the tree of life, a complexity of meanings enlarged and enriched by the music of this CD. The music and lyrics on "The Fruits Of Yggdrasil" are a means of initiation into the Northern mysteries. Patrick's powerful thunderous and sensitive backing music to Freya's spoken and chanted poetry and runecalls capture absolutely the elemental magick and energies of the Gods and Goddesses of the Norse mysteries and the shamanic energy of the Runes. The music ranges from conveying the maelstrom of a curse (Nithing) to the delicate melodic harp tracery of a hymn of praise to Wotan. Whether martial cacophony of percussion, or delightfully melodic, the whole of the album has the hallmark of a genuine grimoire. Here is magick of intent, a synthesis of fire and ice, a reminder that these elder beings are not dead! They can be rekindled to interweave once again with our wills and desires. ERALDO BERNOCCHI AND SHINKIRO - 'In Praise Of Shadows' CD (SSSM) - £11

"In Praise Of Shadows" is a massive collaboration album by Italy's legendary producer Eraldo Bernocchi (Sigillum S / Iugula Thor) and Japanese dark ambient mastermind Manabu Hiramoto (Shinkiro / Kotodama). The music weaves dark electronics and industrial dub with heavy atmospheres. The 8 tracks are based on a concept of the traditional Japanese aesthetics inspired by Junichiro Tanizaki's essay, beautifully contrasted light and shadow, stillness and motion with using modern technology and various musical compositions. Comes in a gatefold digisleeve.

MUSLIMGAUZE - 'Port Said / Report Said' 2 x CD (Aquarellist) - £17

The first CD of this double set contains a reissue of original material previously published on 12" by Audio.nl in 1999. The second CD features remixes of the original material from A.P. (aka Anders Peterson of Last Industrial Estate, Objekt4, Relapxych.0), Bass Communion, Dead Voices On Air, Esplendor Geometrico, In Death It Ends, Rapoon, Scanner, Simon Crab (Bourbonese Qualk, Sunseastar), Pacific 231, QST (Frans De Waard of Freiband, Beequeen, THU20), Troum, and Velehentor. Ltd x 500 copies in a 6-panel matt-laminate ecopak. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

MUSLIMGAUZE - 'Silknoose' CD (Aquarellist) - £12

Russian reissue of Muslimgauze's long sold out 1995 release (Daft Records, Ltd 800). Ambient-industrial with Arabian tribal dance influences. According to some, one of Muslimgauze's most impressive works. 15 relatively short tracks in a fast, aggressive album. The overall feel emphasises industrial rhythms and harsh loops. These are combined with vocal loops, percussion (tabla, drums, cymbals), occasional harmonium or strings at various points, and some electronic effects. This is an album where variety is the main driving force: interspersed between the fast paced majority are some slower, lazy paced tracks. A very enjoyable album edging towards the harsher sounds of some later albums. Ltd x 400 copies in a 6-panel digipak.

MUSLIMGAUZE - 'Untitled' CD (Aquarellist) - £12

This "nameless" creation was published by Klanggalerie (2000), and in a strange way sends the listener back to 1993, to the albums "Betrayal" and "Veiled Sisters", being their obvious and natural continuation. Slow and soft, either a dub or a lounge with an intoxicating sultry sound it immerses the listener in a light trance. It gives you a feeling as if you are lying down for an afternoon nap somewhere on the outskirts of the Palestinian bazaar, and you have no strength to move to shake off this obsessive stupor. Someone is chatting nearby, something is tapping, somewhere in the vicinity there is incomprehensible life and households... but there is no strength to get up. Not even to open your eyes... because bliss, heat and trance. Incredibly atmospheric and hypnotic hypostasis. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak.

MUSLIMGAUZE - 'Vote Hezbollah' 2 x CD (Aquarellist) - £17

Reissue of the long out-of-print album (originally released in 1993 on Soleilmoon), with an additional bonus disc, which contains an alternative version of the "Vote Hezbollah" album found on a DAT-tape in Bryn Jones' archives. This version includes different mixes of most album tracks and an extra track 'Negev Gulag' which was supposed to be included in this album, but appeared later on the album "Fatah Guerrilla" (1996). Extremely poly-rhythmic and atmospheric. Ltd x 350 copies in a 6-panel digipak with offset printing.

MUSLIMGAUZE - 'Wish Of The Flayed' CD (Aquarellist) - £12

Previously only released by Muslimtapes, France as a free download in 2008. Time to come out of the old dusty box for an album by Muslimgauze named 'Wish Of The Flayed' that has for a long time remained under wraps. Bryn Jones himself gave this album on cassette tape to Steven Wilson (Bass Communion) during their first meeting on the 3rd of June 1996; the album having been recorded the day before. The master DAT had, seemingly, not been sent to any label, so this recording is the only proof of the existence of the album. Ltd x 300 copies.

OMENYA - 'Ancient Rites' CD (Purple Soil) - £10

Omenya is Mark Davis, a multi-media artist and ritual noise / ambient musician who resides in a remote part of the North Carolina mountains in the USA. Heavily influenced by early Zoviet France and then later Rapoon, his music also reflects and incorporates his interest in the esoteric rituals and ceremonies of various world religions. The mood is rather solemn; the tranquil music invites reflection. The music never becomes wild or spectacular, just minimal, rather distant ritual ambient music. Organic and electronic methods together create interesting ethno-ambient soundscapes. Packaged in a 6-panel matt digisleeve with insert.

RAPOON - 'Media Studies' CD (Aquarellist) - £12

This album from Rapoon is dedicated to the research of the mass media's manipulation of people's minds. "These recordings include the voice of David Icke. They reflect on the role of the media in shaping and informing opinions (the war in Iraq for example showed the shameless use of the media by a government intent on war whatever the real facts were) and in furthering prejudices and persecution of those who have differing views and dare to express them. Any similarity to anyone living or dead is entirely due to Quantum physics, string theory and parallel universes. Ltd x 500 copies in a digipak with 2 inserts.

RAPOON - 'Messianicghosts' CD (Aquarellist) - £12

This CD by Rapoon - the ethno-ambient project of Robin Storey (Zoviet France) - consists of a remastered and extended version of Rapoon's CDR-only release "Messianic Ghosts" on Syntactic (1997, 50 copies only), plus the tracks "Birethen" and "Amüz" from the Syntactic 1995 7" vinyl, plus two brand new, previously unreleased tracks. Ltd x 430 copies in a digipak with two art cards.

SHINKIRO - 'Cycle Of Rebirth' CD (SSSM) - £11

Shinkiro (aka Manabu Hiramoto, also known as Kotodama), has released previous works on labels such as Ant-Zen and Athanor. "Cycle Of Rebirth" is a conceptual album inspired by the desire realm in the philosophy of Buddhism. The 5 cycles (54 mins) are based on dark ambient soundscapes, blended with hypnotic rhythms, with an industrial edge and haunting melodies. The elaborately composed pieces create a magical and mystic world through amazing atmospheres. Comes in a gatefold digisleeve.
