Unfortunately travel restrictions and temporary venue closures due to COVID-19 have affected some forthcoming dates from our artists. COMMON EIDER, KING EIDER have had to cancel their entire April tour. KHOST's gig in Leeds on 3rd April is cancelled. NYTT LAND have also had to cancel all live shows up to 24th April (and possibly beyond). PENNY RIMBAUD's show at Vortex on 26th also has been postponed. Many tours - even ones which were just about to be announced from SHE SPREAD SORROW and KOLLAPS - are now postponed until later in the year.

AKB - 'Marianergraven' CD (Lamour Records) - £11.50

"Marianergraven" is sinking, ocean-inspired ambient, with melodies moving slowly, forming a menacingly areal atmosphere, where the soaring laments are able to float freely across the sonic panorama. AKB utilises the electronic tonalities from syntheses, loops and effects to create a slowly growing and floating ambient structure, which is both melodic and dissonant combined. The musical origin of this album comes from an avid fascination with the ocean and its secrets. The idea of how the pressure and darkness of the depths may sound and the unknown mystery attached to the Pacific abyss of the Mariana trench evokes both a calmness and a breathtaking feeling of bottomlessly sinking into the darkness way down deep. Behind the name AKB resides instrumentalist Anna-Karin Berglund from Gävle, Sweden. Ltd x 100 copies in a digipak.

ANAKRID - 'Ugly / Pretty' 7" (Cipher Productions) - £9

Anakrid makes a further contribution to Christopher Bickel's (Brain Fever, Guyana Punch Line, In/Humanity, Newgenics etc) legacy of carefully and exquisitely plotted ambient / industrial finery, this time evoking two shades of 1980s Organum via 'Ugly' - a shimmer of organic drone ozone - and 'Pretty' - a mangled wreck of junk metal catastrophe in fully produced exquisite detail. CLINIC OF TORTURE - 'Whip And Pierce / Perversion Bizar' CD (Freak Animal) - £12

A reissue of CoT's debut LP from 2001, plus bonus tracks from a limited 3" CDR release (2003) collected onto one CD. Raw sadistic industrial noise from this Grunt side-project. Clinic Of Torture delivers you harsh noise with a violent Power Electronics touch. The sound of CoT is created without overdubs and recorded to analogue tape. Despite or maybe because of simple and "primitive" recording methods, the result is very powerful and refreshing in times of digital and hi-fi noise. Very explicit artwork. Ltd x 200 copies.

CONTORTUS - 'For Those Who Love To Cause Pain' CD (Freak Animal) - £12

This Finnish power electronics unit is back with a third full length CD album. All the known elements established with "Violence In Heat" (2017) and "Your Weakness Feeds My Cruelty" (2018) are present in the 2020 album. Instead of remaining stagnant, Contortus have managed to inject healthy amount of new elements into their work. Dark and brooding soundscapes drift between violent and physical songs, with vicious echoing making the vocals more striking than before. Among contemporary power electronics, Contortus stands out with their talented craftsmanship and compositions. It is sheer vulgar violence, yet with a high dose of artistic merit. 6-panel digipak.

DARK UNION - 'Hollywound' LP (4iB Records) - £18

"Hollywood" is conceived from the febrile imagination of Glenn Michael Wallis (Whitehouse, Konstruktivists, The Murray Fontana Orchestra, Conspiracy International) in the UK and Mark Reynolds in the USA. This is a 7-track industrial / harsh noise tour de force focusing on themes that explore the darker side of an increasingly obsessive and compulsive 'ritual' of cosmetic surgery perfection in Hollywood. EMME YA & GYDJA - 'Apsinthion' CD (Noctivagant / Sirius Limited Esoterica) - £12.50

Babalonian explorations of the nightside. A reissue of the 2015 esoteric collaboration from Colombia's Emme Ya and New Zealand's Gydja, pressed onto CD-proper for the first time. Nine ritual dark ambient and drone compositions based in diverse deep atmospheres, percussive sounds and voices. Dedicated to U.S. actress, artist, magickian and occultist Marjorie Cameron (1922-1995), a contemporary of Aleister Crowley and Jack Parsons, who regarded herself as a living incarnation of the Thelemic goddess Babalon. 73 mins. Eight occult rites from Colombia's Emme Ya and The Red Angle. Foreboding dark ambient and ritualistic manifestations from Emme Ya, twinned with Black Metal offerings from The Red Angle. Invocations to demonic seductresses Lilitu and Eisheth Zenium... chants of ecstasy and transgressive empowerment, through transformative libations, blackened fires, astral temples, scarlet totems and blood fetishes. 54 mins. GX JUPITTER-LARSEN & WINTERS IN OSAKA - 'Giant Baba' 7" (Cipher Productions) - £9

A 61 lock groove Noise / Musique Concrete collaboration between these two title belt holders: GX Jupitter-Larsen (The Haters) and Winters In Osaka. Each piece is a sonic snapshot of champion Japanese wrestler and All Japan Pro Wrestling co-founder Shohei 'Giant' Baba. Two editions, each of 61 copies: the first edition has red colour sleeves while the second is monochromatic. Each copy comes with a page taken from a 1980 Japanese wrestling magazine. Very few copies of each edition in stock!

HOSTAGE PAGEANT / THE CHERRY POINT / KAZUMA KUBOTA - 'S/T' CD (Cipher Productions) - £11

A 3-way split of blistering harsh noise. The pairing of Phil Blankenship's long-form maelstromic exhumation (The Cherry Point) with two of the finest contemporary noise-makers: Hostage Pageant's body tackling harsh noise, and the dynamic finesse and laser cut-up precision of Kazuma Kubota. A long time in the making, this is 53 minutes of seriously high quality noise. "[Hostage Pageant] a cyclone of full-force motion, tumbling metal pipes and slamming electronic jumps... recorded with maximum painful clarity. [The Cherry Point] an excoriating sheet of dense noise with very few apparent surface features to latch onto... It's a truly massive sound, with no acoustic elements or obvious sideways movements for a listener to hold onto for balance amid the gale-force noise. [Kazuma Kutota] stereo jolts of electricity, slamming the listener's attention around like a kickboxer... veering from hostile loops to cavernous metal percussion to cinematic new age blissful calm to full-force roar" (Vital Weekly). LINEKRAFT - 'Silence' 2 x CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £17

Industrial Power Electronics muzak with a deep spirituality from the land of the rising sun. "Incapable God in silence, I am slavebreed hating paranoid". This comment is the subject of "Silence" album, the tracks and music. "God In Silence" was inspired by an old book "Night" by Elie Wiesel where the author wrote "I could not accept God in silence". Slavebreeding is the modern Japanese order (or better said the modern world order). People are looking at that new order without opposition. The front photo on digipak shows an old Japanese prostitute called Oiran. This so called "modern world" in a godless society (Masahiko Okubo). The album comes in a 6-panel double digipak with great artwork by Msahiko and is limited to 300 copies.

MORTAR DEVOTIONS - 'Operazione Piovra: The Lead Chronicles' CD (Eighth Tower Records) - £11.50

Mortar Devotions is the new collaboration between Nona Et Decima (Manuele Frau, Nicholas Pucciarelli) and Aleksei Tsernjavski. A work inspired by the darkest pages of Italian history, in particular the "years of lead" and the war between the mafia and government. The five lengthy tracks are conceived as if they were the soundtrack, divided into parts, of a film or a television series dedicated to the delicate theme. Tension, claustrophobia, mystery. A dirty, vintage, demolished sound coming from the speakers of an old cathode tube television or a cheap radio with only one broken speaker. Mortar Devotion's music is solidly rooted in the industrial and noise scenes, taking inspiration from artists like Vatican Shadow, and Muslimgauze. But thanks to an extremely cinematic approach derived from their love of synths and Italian soundtrack composers like Morricone, Frizzi, and prog band Goblin, they have created an extraordinarily original sound, which could be called: "Industrial Moving Pictures". This made Bandcamp's "Album Of The Day" on 10th March. Ltd x 100 copies (CD proper) in a digipak with 4 artcards.

NAM-KHAR - 'Sur Chöd' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50

This is Ritual / Drone collective Nam-Khar's follow-up full-length to the very successful "Secret Essence / Sangwa Dupa" album of 2018. The music has evolved... "Sur Chöd" is composed of 6 long-form pieces, each piece transforming and morphing in to a musical entity within its own right. The traditional percussive elements are still there in the music, deployed in full force alongside more subtle uses of these instruments. It is the use of the drone and bass elements that have changed. The small vacuous pockets which Nam-Khar use so well are soon filled with warm, thick drones, synthesised sweeps and enlightening cosmic sounds. It once again creates that space for the listener to move into for contemplation and reflection, to energise and focus through the welcome isolation space created by Nam-Khar's atmospherics. Pushing the inner-traveller ever further onwards, along different trodden paths. Ritual ambient, dark ambient, drone, industrial and subtle tinges of dark-jazz await the listener on this deep and diverse release from Nam-Khar. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel matt-laminte digipak.

NEW RISEN THRONE - 'The Outside' 2 x CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £17

Fourth chapter of a series that began with 2007's "Whispers Of The Approaching Wastefulness" (Cyclic Law). A conceptual soundtrack envisioning the evolution of a fictional story and of which will soon come a VR experience. After centuries of isolation the human race begins a journey in search of the causes that led to the end of its world, and for the first time it approaches the Structures, new life forms that have developed and evolved in the emptiness of "The Outside". Through this cinematic landscape we find again the now well known and unique sonic approach to Dark Ambient by Stielh, one of Italy's true master of the genre. As a very generous bonus, a second disc was completed containing older pieces featuring revised and remixed tracks by close friends and collaborators: Visions, Vestigial, TeHÔM, Taphephobia, Sysselmann, Phantom Ship and Apocryphos. NIKO SKORPIO - 'Themes And Variations' CD (Paraferal Sound) - £11.50

"The Unfolding" is an audiovisual projected installation for darkened space. It provides a space for inner contemplation by combining abstract imagery and sounds in an environment that encourages silence and arrest. This album is based on recordings made for the installation piece. They have been developed further to function on their own, untethered from the projected imagery. The purpose remains the same: to create new spaces and events in the mind of the listener. The audio - inner space drone, space-ambient, electroacoustic - is based on field recordings from various locations and occurrences, studio experiments, TH€€€F sampling technologies and secret ingredients. RICHARD RAMIREZ + ATRAX MORGUE - 'Yours Eyes On My Hands' LP (4iB Records) - £20

This is a reissue of the legendary cassette put out in 1997 on Richard's Deadline Recordings label. What was originally intended as a split release between Richard Ramirez (Werewolf Jerusalem, Black Leather Jesus) and Marco Corbelli eventually evolved into a collaboration. The long out of original print tape was released in a limited edition of 35 copies. Under the approval of late Marco's sister, and at the suggestion of Richard in making this 2 decade old noisy masterpiece available again, the 4 tracks (44 mins) have been fully remastered and given a new lease of life. It is presented in it's full pulsating and heavily layered harsh noise glory with new artwork images and photography by House of S&M (Raws & The Butchdick Collection). Ltd x 240 copies.

STRIATIONS - 'Keepsakes' CD (Freak Animal) - £12

This American power electronics project has steadily gained recognition for almost a decade. Multiple small scale releases on tape and CDR have been released on various labels such as Nefarious Activities, Heavy Psych, RRR, Fusty C**t, Waterpower, New Forces, etc. Due various circumstances, this album remained in vaults since 2018, and was eventually released on LP by Fusty C**t last year (Ltd x 100). Finally the CD edition of "Keepsakes" sees the light of day and is put forward as the best Striations release to date. Striations certainly maintains its ugly, vile and vulgar dedication to banal horrors of abuse and violence. 6-panel digipak.

SUTCLIFFE JUGEND - 'The Deluge' CD (4iB Records) - £13

This is the final Sutcliffe Jugend release and the entire album was recorded between December 2018 and January 2019. "The Deluge" was completed less than a month before the end of Sutcliffe Jugend was officially announced. The final moments of Sutcliffe Jugend are captured in these 5 tracks (66 mins), with never been heard before vocal ranges that reflect the subtle intensity and almost 'singing' style of Kevin Tomkins. Dramatic, relentless Power Electronics / Industrial with the usual excellent sound production. The impossibility of love and death, of regret, of desire. This documents the end of an era, but continues to pave the way for a new 'Sutcliffe Jugend' sound and style to come: Slaves No More. TENEBRIOUS - 'Recurring Manifestations of Esoteric Lunacy' CD (4iB Records) - £11.50

Unearthed from the grave, comes the new release from Tenebrious. The nine putrid creations on this release suffocate and spit forth into a malevolent black cloak of ambient and burial mounds of harsh suicidal noise. Combining analogue, digital frequencies and field recordings, this release sends the listener into a deep disturbing surrounding that could communicate or resurrect the dead. Since 2002, Tenebrious has produced horror ambient noise. The main creator known as "The Deceased" has recorded his most aggressive apocalyptic macabre music to date. The artist prefers the (individual) listener to embrace and consume the experience within an isolated location where you have little to no contact with others. Moreover each track on this release is intended to submerge you into a blackened void of complete darkness. Ltd x 200 copies.

VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Terässinfonia Vol. 1' CD (Freak Animal) - £12

Terässinfonia - Steel Symphony: Sound of Finnish experimental noise. For 25 years Freak Animal has published countless releases by Finnish artists. The activities of label has played part in shaping the perception of how many people see the Finnish noise and experimental underground. Despite a vast amount of releases, the label has never given a full view that would reveal the diversity of expression found among the Finnish scene: FA now aims to redress that with a compilation series under title "Terässinfonia". To present a wide scale as possible there will be at least three volumes, all including many projects unknown for vast majority of people. This series will illuminate that Finland is at this moment experiencing surge of creativity on this field, even if it may happen widely unnoticed. Vol 1 features: Umpio, Kitu, Tyhjä Pää, Hazarda Bruo Sonsistemo, Atrophist, Unclean, Edge of Decay, H.Ö.H., Jazzhand, Rotat, Junkyard Shaman, Contortus, and Metsäkirkko. Digipak.

ASTRO - 'Shell Star / Spica' CD (Cipher Productions) - £11

Composed by Hiroshi Hasegawa (C.C.C.C. / Nord / South Saturn Delta / Galax / Shroud Of Vapour etc) this is a reissue of a double 3" CDR (Cipher Productions, 2004). Decorated with impossibly beautiful images from the Hubble telescope, it contains two tracks of analogue synthesized waves of cosmic sound effects, drenched in reverb. It is noise, but not like the noise of C.C.C.C. or other Japanese noiseniks, like Merzbow or Aube. Their noise is at home on this planet and they are at ease with its technology. Astro is lost and looking for a channel, screaming to be heard and recognised in an unrecognisable place which, to make matters even more disconcerting, is still expanding. The Synthi AKS played a significant part in this very 60s sounding spacey sci-fi offering. The past offered a future quite unlike this present, which resembles evermore the cold materialism of the 1950s. Ltd x 500 copies.

BRIDGE TO IMLA - 'The Radiant Sea' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50

Bridge To Imla is the cinematic ambient duo of Hans-Dieter Schmidt and Michael Brückner. Beginning with soundscapes recorded in 2013 for the "Fukishima Drones" compilation, this album expands on that original theme of ecological concern, as well as a praise of the beauty of our planet's biggest ocean. The album is a rich woven tapestry of dark ambient soundscapes and deep electronics mixed with more traditional instruments. It will pull you across the vast stretches of the mighty Pacific Ocean, dragging you down to it's murky depths and across it's vast plains before depositing you in to the deep trenches and ridges that lurk there. Polluted by radiation and man's indifference to nature, 'The Radiant Sea' continues in its struggle to restore the balance and maintain its beauty and dignity. Mastered by legendary ambient composer and mastering engineer ROBERT RICH, who finely tuned and polished the tracks to bring out the best ambient feel and experience for the listener. CREATION THROUGH DESTRUCTION & MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'Nullification' CD (4iB Records) - £11.50

Serbian experimental harsh noise act Creation Through Destruction teams up with Italian Industrial maestro Maurizio Bianchi to create an industrial themed noisescape composed with analogue equipment and treated with digital electronics. The basis of this album revolves around the churn of machinery and throbbing pulses of mechanised loops. The overall ambience of analogue sounds derived from field recordings, tape loops, radio static from a compact stereo and a damaged vinyl ebb and flow through the various layers, exuding a bleak reality of an industrialised dystopia. Ltd x 250 copies.

FACIALMESS / HANA KODAMA - 'Facialmess / Hana Kodama' LP (Cipher Productions) - £13

Facialmess does ultra cut-up brutal noise. Hana Kodama (Yukiko and Fumio Kosakai of Incapacitants / Hjjokaidan / C.C.C.C.) go for subtle ambience with voice, an electric harp and a lot of delay. "Facialmess is all about fierce twisting of pedal knobs and super fast cut-up techniques. The sound is not extremely harsh, but the sudden changes and the fact you never know what's coming next make up for that nicely. Among the finest of this kind of noise I've heard recently. The other side is completely different. Calm ambient done with vocals and electric harp, both manipulated with delay and reverb effects. The vocals are quite eerie and sound a bit like theremin perhaps. The harp makes vague clanking and tinkling sounds here and there. Actually, the whole thing is not much unlike some Keiji Haino works!" (Hard and Obscure). Ltd x 200 copies in a black disco sleeve with credits insert.

HUM OF THE DRUID / FIRE IN THE HEAD - 'Hum Of The Druid / Fire In The Head' LP (Cipher Productions / Audio Immolation Industries) - £15

Double A side split LP profiling two of the most resolute contemporary U.S. projects. Hum Of The Druid gives a side long track representing work done primarily in late 2005-early 2006. Heavy electronic cracking and midrange noise texture melds with electro-acoustic placement and the occasional obscure vocal to establish a diverse landscape of sound a la TNB. Sound that is decidedly dark, but true-to-life in the perspective it offers. The F/I/T/H (aka Mike Page of Sky Burial) side is a slight departure from previous efforts forgoing the relentless 'in your face' aggression of earlier recordings in favour of a more restrained and minimalist mix of raw analogue electronics, field recordings, samples and vocals culminating in a near-melodic, rhythmic assault of industrial bombast. Paste-on cover artwork from Eric Stonefelt (Hum Of The Druid) and Nick Blinko (Rudmentary Peni), printed labels and multiple inserts. Ltd x 300 copies.

MAURIZIO BIANCHI & PHARMAKUSTIK - 'Zersetzung' CD (4iB Records) - £11.50

Zersetzung is the new collaborative album from Maurizio Bianchi and Siegmar Fricke (alias Pharmakustik), produced and mixed in autumn 2018. Zersetzung contains four morphologically distinct stadiums of putrefaction processes; Intracytoplasmic accumulation of necrotic voice-fragmentations confronted with postmortem intervals in denaturated audio-cadavers. SK.MV - 'Slow Death' CD (Cipher Productions) - £11

"Slow Death" is the debut CD of SK.MV, the new death industrial project of Stephen Petrus (Murderous Vision) and Wyatt Howland (Skin Graft). The story is one of personal and social decay; of the suffocation and degradation of body and environment; of sooted electronics tendrils, clouds of asphyxiating noise, and pulses of impending expiration. Ltd x 100 copies in a square plastic case.

SPK - 'Leichenschrei' CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £15

Brand new edition of the SPK masterpiece first released in 1982. Close to 40 years are gone but the energy of "Leichenschrei" by "Socialistisches Patienten Kollektiv" is still very H.I.G.H.! A referment and absolute highlight in Industrial culture and muzak. Graeme Revell wrote a new Leichenschrei Testament/Tribute for this re-release. Those writings are integrated into the cover notes to introduce the 2019 listener into such a "Magnum Opera". It all starts off with ominous electronics, muffled voices talking about guillotines and icy bodies and death. Dark. Very dark. And then we kick into this drums and electronic industrial percussion thing but the voices just keep on with the same oppressive stance... Bits of autopsy tapes, some insane schizoid monologue... "Leichenschrei" (the title means "corpse screams" in German) is one of the absolutely darkest musical visions of the early Industrial works. Terribly dynamic and organic. A must have for all lovers of Industrial muzak and its roots. 6-panel digipak.
