AELDABORN - 'Urfinsternis' CD (Lichterklang) - £12

The brand new album from the German Neofolk outfit deals with the religious motives of the Swedish island Gotland and its ancient stones ("Reiter und Schlangen"), lesser known nordic myths ("The Ride of Hyrrokinn") as well as songs standing in the tradition of luciferian gnosticism referring to Albin Grau, Gregor A. Gregorius and Aleister Crowley ("The Wind Beyond" and "The Law Of Silence"). The Kalevala as well as karelian witchcraft are covered as well just like the mythical topic of the mountain in the context of a spiritual observation ("Entwölktes Gebirge"). By all means the Bronze Age is the peak of religious images, the first light from the original darkness ("Urfinsternis"). Musicwise "Urfinsternis" can be considered as the most accessible album Aeldaborn to date while a female voice adds a new dimension to the multilayered compositions. ANACLETO VITOLO & LUCA BUONINFANTE - 'Ænd' CD (St.An.Da. / Silentes) - £11.50

Vitolo / Buoninfante is an Italian electroacoustic improv duo born in 2016. Their second album mixes several musical styles and approaches such as musique concréte, field recording, sound processing and live electronics. Luca Buoninfante (of OEOAS, c.el.en, Organoiser, Liminaria, Zaund) uses objects, microphones, laptop, and field recordings... while Anacleto Vitolo (of AV-K, X(i)NEON), K.lust, Internos) uses live electronics, laptop and effects. ASMUS TIETCHENS - 'Bleiche Brunnen' CD (Stille Andacht / Dark Vinyl) - £13.50

Asmus Tietchens, one of the most prolific German composers in the Experimental / Musique Concrete scene since the late 70's. "Bleiche Brunnen" features electronic music of extreme abstraction. Sounds and noises far from human beings from pale, forgotten wells. Porous remains in deserted landscapes, crystalline evidence of inorganic states of highest transparency. The music conveys calm, but in no way invites contemplation. "The idea of being born is far more terrifying than that of dying because it adds the vision of the uselessness of birth to the horror of death" (E.M. Cioran). CORDE OBLIQUE - 'The Moon Is A Dry Bone' CD (Dark Vinyl) - £13.50

Mediterranean Folk with heavenly Voices from Italy, featuring members of IRFAN, ASHRAM, ARGINE, MODA and DIAFRAMMA, plus special guests like Maddalena Crippa and Caterina Pontrandolfo. Corde Oblique is the project of composer Riccardo Prencipe, with vocal contributions from numerous female singers and actresses. Their heavenly vocals are embedded in Riccardo's progressive, ethereal folk music. Mastered by Geoff Pesche (Abbey Road Studio, London). Presented in a 6-panel digisleeve with 8-page booklet.

INSTITUTION D.O.L. - 'The Thelema Tales' CD (TORM Ent.) - £13

On the trails of the Great Beast 666, Edward Alexander Crowley (aka Aleister Crowley). An audio setting and musical rendering of Institution D.O.L.'s pilgrim travel to Cefalù, Sicily in summer 2015. Five tracks (46:23) of the finest experimental electronica, dark ambient, piano and field recordings from the Abbey Of Thelema and La Rocca. KEVIN HENRY DUNHAM - 'Sol Evocations (Live From Tio Gordos Cantina Exotica)' CD (13 / Silentes) - £11.50

K. Henry Dunham, of ambient project Our Lady Of The Flowers, releases "Sol Evocations", a continuation of the quantum mysticism and musical techniques explored in last year's "Holiday In Thule". Where "Holiday In Thule" was a celebration of the solemnity of dark winter days, "Sol Evocations" is a call to the long pulsing light of the sun. This journey through archetypal collective mind spaces was distilled from a 13-hour live improvisational set, with the intent of providing low volume background sounds to accompany an art show and film festival in Port Huron, Michigan. By employing cut up techniques, solar and ionic samples, Schumann Resonance, field recordings of sacred rites and mythic teachings, and lo-fi electronic devices, this movement of music calls the sun to illuminate these troubled times. LISFRANK - 'The Human' CD (St.An.Da / Silentes / Final Muzik) - £11.50

Legendary early '80s Italian synth wave pioneer Lisfrank is back with a new studio album. Although some of the songs on "The Human" were conceived as early as 2011, the album took shape in 2018; all tracks were produced, remixed and remastered again and again, to guarantee the best recording result. Expect that classic, catchy, typical Lisfrank minimal electronic / '80s new wave trademark, with some interesting news: a few more aggressive songs show Fulvio Guidarelli's aggressive side, while a darker shadow seems to haunt the whole atmosphere of the album. Such is the case of of the obscure "Death's Dance", the melancholic "A Dancing Star" or the beautifully estranging "Feel It (Your Body, My Body)" the latter of which was recorded with PANKOW's Maurizio Fasolo. "The Human" introduces a new, darker side of Lisfrank with solid, innovative songs and classic, old school minimal-wave hits. Mastered by Andrea Bellucci (Red Sector A, Nerva). METADEVICE - 'Studies For A Vortex' CD (Malignant Records) - £12

A founding member of the now defunct Sektor 304 and a major contributor to Beyond Enclosure, Andre Coelho now returns with Metadevice. For those familiar with his previous work, you'll recognise a lot of the same traits and characteristics: assemblages of bruising musicality, as fed through a cacophony of factory dirge, alienating drones and insectile frequencies, often with distorted rhythms and resonating clangs, and vocals that range from spoken word to more aggressive and in your face. No matter the project, Andre has always managed to tap into an authentically old school industrial sound, and Metadevice is no exception. A must for fans of IRM, Einsturzende Neubauten, STROM.ec etc. Mastered by John Stillings (Steel Hook Prostheses). 6-panel digisleeve.

SOLWEIN - 'Omnia Vincit Amor' CD (Lichterklang) - £12

Solwein is a one-man Neofolk project from the Palatinate, inspired by the beauty and puissance of nature, dionysian soulfulness, solar solitude and autumn-like melancholia. Based in traditional German Neofolk and bands like Forseti, Sonne Hagal or Jännerwein, Solwein are deeply rooted in their love for nature, their home and their region, well known for its famous wine that Dennis D'Biasi honours with walks through the palatine vineyards and concerts in the midst of nature. Solwein are on the front of the new generation of German Neofolk. Ltd x 200 copies in a digipak.

THE LAST FIVE MINUTES - 'The Last Five Minutes' CD (13 / Silentes) - £11.50

Starting with minimal guitar drone from Alberto Carozzi, improvising on the concept of playing "as little as possible", four pieces became five with the collaboration of Matteo Uggeri (Sparkle In Grey), who added tribal beats and weird samples. He then mixed the whole album, entitled "The Last Five Minutes", an invitation to manage tension through patience. "Although both players recorded their parts separately the whole album sounded very coherent. The music has a fine tribal feeling, obviously with all the drum samples involved I'd say, but also with those fine darker guitar drones... In each of the tracks, the development is slow and they both play for the sake of creating an atmosphere; a dark one... I can easily see that if one enjoys the music of Muslimgauze, Desaccord Majeur or Internal Fusion one could also lend an ear to the music of The Last Five Minutes, expanding the tribal / rhythmic experience of the ancestors a bit further" (Vital Weekly). VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'F/Ear This!' 2 x CD (Silentes) - £18

"F/Ear This!" was originally a double album (LP / cassette editions) released in 1987 by PEACE, a completely informal gathering of ziners, activists, musical groups and small Italian record labels. The idea for the title was born from Vittore Baroni, who also assembled a 28-page A4 booklet using some of the graphic art sent to him by some of the various musicians participating to the compilation, and adding images taken from the Trax archives. All the proceeds were destined to support "A/Rivista Anarchica" anarchist magazine. The idea behind "F/Ear This!", featuring friends musicians, graphic artists and poets scattered all around the planet, was the common theme of "fear". "Fear was something we all lived and shared, like being poisoned and [fed] black bread on a daily basis: let's do something then, let's protest, let's turn the volume up. We tried to spread the news and rally, to pass the word and share the sense of alarm". The work has been digitally reproduced, respecting its integrity as much as possible. The audio has been restored from the original reels and cassettes, and some tracks which were originally left out have been added.

AREA BOMBARDMENT - 'Republic' CD (Lichterklang) - £11

Seven years since "In Hoc Signo Vinces", the new opus of Irish Martial Industrial project Area Bombardment marks the 10th anniversary of the band and was almost lost and forgotten on a hard-disc for six years. The tracks have been re-worked and re-mastered with some additional bonus material included. "Republic" is a conceptual work on Irish history and the brave men that fought for their independence from England. Ltd x 200 copies in a digisleeve.

BLACKHOUSE - 'One Man's Collection 1984-89' CD (Dark Vinyl) - £11

Blackhouse are one of the grandfathers of industrial music, along with Whitehouse / SPK / Throbbing Gristle, and in the eyes of the fans the tracks of the first 5 albums are still milestones in the history of the Industrial movement. This collection of 12 selected tracks from the "golden" early years of Blackhouse, remastered especially for this album, have been dedusted in the best possible way, i.e. crashing, booming and humming out of the speakers. Additionally there is an 8 page booklet with rare photos and the detailed history of the individual tracks / albums from the years 1984-1989. 6-panel digisleeve.

ECHO WEST - 'Pagan City Ghosts' CD (Dark Vinyl) - £11

"Pagan City Ghosts" is the 7th album by Echo West. Furthermore it's the second part of the "Pagan City" trilogy and will bring well known Angst Pop tunes and EBM rhythms in the old style of The Klinik to the listeners once again. The CD contains 9 unreleased and brand new tracks that were created between 2011 and 2014, plus a re-mix of the track "Are We City Humans", which appeared on the "Pagan City Gods" CD in 2013. The soundscapes reach from minimal electronic arrangements via negative pop to hard rhythmic madness. Comes in a 6-panel ecopak.

ECHO WEST - 'Pagan City Goth' CD (Dark Vinyl) - £11

The third and final part of the 'Pagan City' trilogy. The Echo West core theme of the cold city is once again expanded and animated by the themes "man and nature" as well as "existence and survival". 12 new minimal-wave and industrial tracks lead into danceable dark feeling-atmosphere intersections, anger, love and confidence. Some of the new tracks were presented live this year at the Wave-Gothic meeting in Leipzig. Pagan City Goth brings well known Angst Pop tunes / Minimal Electronic arrangements and EBM rhythms in the old style of The Klinik / early Human League to the listeners. EUROPAPLAN - 'Armes De Vengeance' CD (Achtung Baby!) - £11

Europaplan is a joint project by well-known French group Nocturne and German total sound ideologists Axon Neuron/Vagwa, who have been working long time in the vein of power-electro experiences. The central theme of their new research is a history of creation of the V2 military rocket. Both musicians present a monumental document of uncompromising bubbling martial industrial and abrasive power-electro sounds, obscure war noise, deep rumbling from hell. Comes in a 7" sleeve with 3 artcards.

NORDVARGR - 'Tantum Melior' CD (Cyclic Law) - £14

After the success of 2018's "Metempsychosis" album, Nordvargr's most song based recordings ever, we asked close friends and collaborators to create their own interpretations of songs from the album. The result is an interesting blend of styles and methods that expands the Nordvargr universe even further. With exclusive reworks by MZ.412, Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio, Vassafor, Visions, Kristoffer Oustad (Stromstad, V:28), Spetsnaz, Michael Idehall (Amalthea), Thorofon and The Benjolin Codex, the spirit of "Metempsychosis" mutates splendidly into new and unexpected territories. SERGIO SORRENTINO / MACHINEFABRIEK - 'Vignettes' CD (Fratto9 Under The Sky Records) - £10

This is an album based on the beauty of the electric guitar sound. The pure sound of the electric guitar (mainly "clean" or sometimes get a little bit "dirty" with the fuzz pedal) evokes memories, images, emotions. The harmonics, simple chords, arpeggios, single sustained notes of Sergio Sorrentino's guitar formed the starting point of the creation of each track. Sergio recorded ideas, sketches and improvisations, which were then further processed by Machinefabriek. Mainly using the sounds of Sergio's guitar playing as building material, he constructed short pieces that emphasized the feel of the original recordings and fleshed these out to create a series of focused Vignettes. This resulted a playful, melodic and highly accessible album that stands out in both artists oeuvres. Comes in a textured, outsized sleeve.

SIEBEN - 'The Line And The Hook' 2 x LP (Dark Vinyl) - £19

The Line And The Hook was originally released in 2001 only on CD, through Redroom Records. For Dark Vinyl's special vinyl re-mastered edition there are several rare or previously unreleased Sieben tracks: a cover of Jacques Brel's "Amsterdam" - the original acoustic version of "Loki" - "Oh Yes, There Will Be Blood" (the original, unheard version written for the SAW II film soundtrack album) - "Brief As A Flower" (a Sieben-only original version of this track) - a re-working of the track "Völkerschlachtdenkmal". Written, performed and produced by Matt Howden between 2000 and 2001. 18 tracks in total. Ltd x 150 copies on black vinyl in a sumptuous gatefold sleeve with new artwork.

THE HAFLER TRIO - 'Cleave: 9 Great Openings' CD (Nextera) - £12.50

The '"Part The First" of a trilogy. "Cleave: Nine Great Openings" is the first studio release by H30 since "'hljodmynd"' released in 2000 on the German industrial label Die Stadt (though the material on that album was recorded in 1995). "Cleave" is a 60-minute slowly evolving piece with a very wide, low and resonant sound. Could almost be described as dark ambient or meditative music with a very special atmosphere. Coming in an embossed gatefold Paper-Wallet with Transparent Wrap and silver print.

ZINC ROOM - 'In Wooden Room' CD (Evil Dead Productions) - £8

Fifth full-length album from the Siberian project of Alexander "I", joined once again by Andrey Kislov (Carved Image Of Emptiness, Sol Mortuus, Chaotic Bound Systems), recorded with the participation of musicians from Transistorwald and Obozdur. This album shows further development from the realm of deadening distorted industrial noise to the depths of dark ambient and death industrial, continuing the line started on its previous work "Shifting Soil". The author utilises a wider pallette of acoustic elements including mouth harp, the natural sounds of soil, branches, stones and glass, bringing a more ritual atmosphere to the album. Yet sometimes he plunges everything into the electrolysis bath with already known trademark dense cocktail of metal percussion and roaring bass guitar. Presented in an outsized gatefold sleeve.
