Japanese noise legend Masonna (Mademoiselle Anne Sanglante Ou Notre Nymphomanie Auréolé) is the brainchild of Maso Yamazaki, a name known for epitomising the extreme end of the noise spectrum. Originally released on cassette by the Coquette label in 1989, "maso+onna=masonna" is a landmark recording which has long been the subject of underground lore for its intense, almost mythical presence in the Japanese Noise world.
Capturing Masonna at one of his most pivotal moments, the first side-length track delves into extreme distortion, vocal manipulations, and screeching feedback, with the ferocious intensity for which he is famed. The frantic bursts of static, relentless noise, screeches, and hallucinating screams jolt us unexpectedly into the (controlled?) chaos on the flipside.
A demented broken guitar intro drags us into a chaotic noise onslaught, punctuated with fleeting stabs of near silence, exploding back into intense noise, demented screaming / wretching vocals and some of the most unhinged experiments ever put to vinyl. The extreme outer boundaries of 'music'.
Ltd x 199 copies with textured A5 insert.
