John Wiese (Sissy Spacek, Smegma, LHD, ex-Bastard Noise) recorded during Ina/GRM's 2016 Présences Électronique Festival in Paris.
"Escaped Language" is a concise and calculated piece which slowly evolved in various settings over a number of years. Wiese dissects and reassembles portions of his vocabulary alone. Simultaneously dense and sparse, delicate and abrasive, free and tactical, the resulting recording stands as a substantial document of his approach to sound, 25 years into his prolific tenure.
"The piece begins with a short ambient introduction before combining a series of disparate organic sounds, juxtaposing metallic percussive patterns with ominous moans and shuffles that evoke a trip through a desolate sci-fi backwater... a moody, complex sonic environment... the practice of a careful craftsman at work" (Tiny Mix Tapes).
Single-Sided LP (19 mins). Includes double-sided insert.
