A representation of the macrocosm and microcosm; the duality of chaos and symmetry, using the pathways of the stars / nervous system as notation.
"Milky Way" is a large-scale church organ work in which the vibration of sustained notes and the wide range of sound emulate the infinite nature of the universe. Following "Bruegel Variations" technique to determine the notes on the music sheet, this first part alone includes 180 lines; their total playtime would last seven and a half days. Thus, to play the music of all eight parts of the Milky Way would take 56 days without stopping. The sample that the listener hears on this CD is the first half of 1 out of 1350 lines.
Whereas the Milky Way can be associated with the collective anthology of humanity that connects generations through past, present, and future, the human nervous system evokes roots, paths, and relations within the individual. The electroacoustic soundscape of "Nervous System" (which also uses the "Bruegel Variations" technique to map the human nervous system as notation), comprises percussive instrumental effects on top of piano lines.
The whole album was inspired by the intriguing juxtaposition of a purer and ethereal world (macrocosm) and the noise and pulse of society (microcosm). Digipak with booklet. RECOMMENDED!
