DEISON & MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'White Landscape' CD (Final Muzik) - £11.50

The second collaboration between two well-known Italian Industrial / Experimental electronic music composers, after "Black Panorama" (Final Muzik, 2015). "White Landscape" was recorded between 2015-2016, with Deison doing the final mix of the album at his 1st Floor Studio in May 2017. "After having spent an imaginary lobotomized hibernation in the darkest bush, the constant search for bright oblivion led us to luminescent scenarios, and the result was this illuminating four-handed work that fulfills our desire for clever experimentation. KLEISTWAHR - 'In The Reign Of Dying Embers' CD (Fourth Dimension) - £11.50

Each of the albums from Kleistwahr (aka Gary Mundy of RAMLEH) is possessed of a thematic approach harbouring some of his obsessions, passions and explorations into both pure, unadulterated sonic expression, and many of the concerns driving it. Although traces of Mundy's longstanding interest in unforgiving and uncompromising industrial music can often be found threaded throughout Kleistwahr's work, it is (rather like Ramleh) far more nuanced and subtle. Contorted layers of psychedelic noise converge with tormented vocals, ghostly organ sounds wafting in from a derelict church, lifebeat pulses, rhythms that fall in on themselves, an avant-garde sensibility drawing from minimalist composition, and a crushing feeling of unease itself jarred into all manner of surprising shapes. This is music to fall backwards into whilst understanding vipers lurk somewhere close by. Ltd x 300 copies in a gatefold mini-LP style sleeve, based on the Broken Flag design.

NOTHING HAS CHANGED - 'Nothing Has Changed' CD (Old Temple) - £12

The debut album from Nothing Has Changed conjures industrial metal music full of inhuman atmosphere, bass driven music and mechanical rhythms. It also shows you the truth that literally nothing has changed during the past few years. Society is still in ruins, psychological decay increases. All you can do is consume or be consumed. ROD - 'Pòczuj Kaszëbsczégò Décha' CD (Zoharum) - £12

A brand new album from ROD - a collective focused on artistic activities strongly affiliated with slavic culture and rites. References are clear in musical, lyrical and visual aspects of their output. In their work, they consistently try to instill the culture of their ancestors into new ground. Here old rituals, overheard legends, and everyday customs refer to the universal vision of the universe - pure, indigenous and known for centuries. Undistorted by external influence, these propagators of heathen tradition put those values into present context. Their eclectic formula is based on combining two seemingly distant, even opposite musical worlds where modern electronic pulse meets melodies played on traditional folk instruments giving very unique and most satisfying result. ROD's latest work relates to Kaszuby - a region in northern Poland, and its rich ethnic and cultural background confronted with present day problems. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak.

SCHRÖTTERSBURG - 'Melancholia • Dekonstrukcje' CD (Zoharum) - £12

Schröttersburg is well known to post-punk fans due to three well received albums and a no nonsense demo. What makes them different from other bands is their ability to incorporate other musical genres while maintaining the new wave core. Here post-punk meets kraut / space / psychedelic or even noise rock and shoegaze. Those broad interests pushed the band towards experiments where they invited friends who reinterpreted the songs from the "Melancholia" album, resulting in "Melancholia • Dekonstrukcje": TZII, MIRT, 1997EV, GAAP KVLT, PIOTR DABROWSI (Warsaw Improvisers Orchestra), VILKDUJA (Oorchach), AME DE BOUE, and FLEUVE. The new versions of songs range from trip hop, through traces of electro, industrial, experimental (think of shogaze black metal) psychedelia and mesmerising, trance inducing sounds. SUN'S SPECTRUM - 'Don't Chase The Light' CD (Final Muzik) - £11.50

Sun’s Spectrum is a synthwave duo from Udine, North-Eastern Italy, formed in 2016 by Livio Caenazzo and Daniele Iannacone whose music is described as a balance of contrasts: languor and energy, danceable rhythms and wistful melodies, post-punk guitars and techno beats. "Don't Chase The Light" is their first CD, set out in two parts: Part 1 consisting of four new, unreleased songs and two updated remixes of early tracks; Part 2 resumes four songs previously self-released on the duo's eponymous digital-only EP from 2019. A statement of purpose and style from its beautiful title, "Don’t Chase The Light" is an invitation towards consciousness and to a critical attitude towards a world full of false expectations and bright illusions; a night flight through love obsessions timeless philosophical themes and science fiction. TWELVE THOUSAND DAYS - 'Field's End' CD (Final Muzik) - £11.50

Martyn Bates (Eyeless In Gaza) and Alan Trench (Orchis) deliver an extraordinary new set of dark folk / experimental songs showcasing both virtuoso songwriting and an impeccable selection of covers. From the stunning interpretation of Black Sabbath's "Planet Caravan" that opens this missive from the aethyr, to the darkly beautiful haunted whisperings of "Wistman's Wood" that closes it, Bates and Trench take us on a musical tour of their mystical landscape that leaves the traveller breathless and transported. Bates' voice, at once urgent and impassioned, delicate and graceful, is underpinned by an eclectic instrumentation of dulcimers, synths, piano, organ, mellotron, shruti and others that highlight the interplay of Trench's fluid guitar lines with the soaring melodies. The recent folk history of England is incorporated with covers of songs by Alasdair Clayre, Bob Pegg (Mr. Fox) and Vashti Bunyan; the album revolves elliptically around the elegiac rush of the title track, where Bates sings: "the seas ride up the skies / and the stars fill yr eyes / I dream the rain's long answer / I dream the sun's responses". ZOS - 'Zos' CD (Old Temple) - £12

Rough and trance-inducing psychedelic Doom Metal for Chaos Magic rituals. The glow of black candles, the stuffiness of a tomb, debauchery; a journey through death and rebirth transfused into sounds. An uncompromising embodiment of Austin Osman Spare's philosophy of automatism on the debut material of ZOS. Five lengthy subconscious fumes from another dimension filled with darkness, hallucinations, invocations. 47 mins.

The meeting of 2 Italian Industrial minds and, according to the label, "one of the best Maurizio Bianchi collaboration works and one of the best Deison albums. Period". This is music for black landscapes: swirling ambient / industrial soundscapes. "Prologue: The title can already say a lot of contents. When we see ahead of us a view from the inside and we see another, the two views collide and according to our state of mind we can see a negative panorama or a more positive one. EIDULON - 'Combustioni' CD (Malignant Records) - £11.50

Following an 11 year absence since his debut, "Idolatriae", Eidulon returns a radically different entity. Whereas Idolatriae was haunting and minimal catacomb ambience, "Combustioni" is a daunting, full on apocalyptic industrial, auditory excursion, complete with crushingly ominous brass chords, fearsome horn proclamations, organ, and doom filled atmospherics. Contributions of murderous, gnarled vocals courtesy of Nordvargr and Luca Soi (Void Of Silence), as well as caustic noise from Italian heavy electronic practitioners Naxal Protocol (ex-Cazzodio) add a powerful element, often cutting through a blaze of swelling tones and pneumatic percussive pummel, the only respite coming in the form of collaborative tracks with Kammarheit and Caul, which sees Eidulon returning to the foggy gloom and bleak isolationism that populated the debut. Collectively, it's quite the provocative declaration, shattering genre barriers and setting the soundtrack for a world of incinerated cities, global plagues, and nuclear winters. Comes in a stunning 10-panel 'Maltese Cross' digipak.

MARTYRIA - 'Martyria' CD (Malignant Records) - £11

With its great textural depth, sepulchral atmospheres, and exotic, richly detailed ritualistic passages, the stunning, self-titled debut from the Greek duo Martyria signifies the arrival of a vital new entry into the world of ritual / dark ambience. Running 41 minutes spread over five tracks, the disc opens with "Logos", a haunting piece track of gorgeous female keening, angelically drifting over a bed of primitive Byzantine rhythms and liturgical chants. It deftly sets the tone and lays the foundation for the proceeding pieces, which move from bottomless, subterranean drift and luminescent drones, to more sinister realms marked by slow, tribal percussion, resonating wood instrumentation, and elongated vocalizations. All of it flows seamlessly, rising from tendrils of wood smoke and incense, rooted in spiritual and ceremonial darkness, and bound together by atavistic and organic means. MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'Noise-O-Rama' CD (Final Muzik) - £11.50

First official press of early Maurizio Bianchi's private early 80's cassette tape (Murder Release 30). A good example of Bianchi’s sonic extremity. Originally a 90 minute cassette that spliced together a collage of MB tracks that had appeared on various mail art and noise compilations, this is an overload of shivering electronics smothered by leaden gas and occasionally punctured by searing shards of white noise. Ltd x 200 copies in a gatefold digisleeve.

NNHMN - 'Shadow In The Dark' CD (Zoharum) - £12

"Shadow In The Dark" offers six stirring, sensual, deeply emotional seething Darkwave cuts that hopelessly ignite your dark heart and cold body. NNHMN's dizzying sound is defined by analogue textures and arpeggiated bass lines; a sense of sonic investigation that veers from techno to haunted Synth Wave via electronic soundscapes. Obsessive synth lines and sultry vocal deliveries guide the listener through a thrilling dimension with minimal synth qualities and Gothic undertones. Martyn Bates (Eyeless In Gaza) & Alan Trench (Orchis, Howling Larsons) return after a 12-year hiatus with the fourth Twelve Thousand Days album. From the opening 'Death Went Fishing' (a free translation of 'vgíke o cháros na psarépsei', the classic rebetiko by Giannis Papaioannou), to the closing, haunting notes of 'Red And Golden Fire', the listener is taken on a journey made up of a thousand journeys, a thousand side trips, a thousand destinations, hinging around the sprawling central trip of 'Pathless', in which the ramifications of choices made swim into hazy view. The 13 tracks that make up "Insect Silence" are a concatenation of dulcimers, whistles, guitars, synths and other instrumentation with slices of pure, aching melody echoing through strange darkened corners, all enlivened and enlit by the wondrous tones of Martyn Bates.
