AMBIENTI COASSIALI - 'Six Operators' LP (ADN) - £17
Ambienti Coassiali began in the '80s in Milan as a parallel project of Capricorni Pneumatici. Unreleased before, this is actually Ambienti Coassiali's proper second effort, re-recorded in 2017 and mastered 2020. "Six Operators" was recorded with a Yamaha DX7 and a two-track Revox A77 tape machine with no further processing. Another step into the world of meditative and ethereal FM synthesis by this obscure project run by Silvio Linardi and active during the late '80s, this vinyl is filled with great old school Ambient-Drone sounds. Ltd x 250 copies. |
BOSSES HANG & GOVERNMENT ALPHA & TORTURING NURSE & ASTRO & VOMIR - 'Once In A Lifetime' 2 x CD (4iB Records) - £16.50
Once In A Lifetime is a fragmented and anachronistic double album featuring Romania's Bosses Hang (aka Raul Starcz) improvising on the original works of noise protagonists: Government Alpha, Astro (Hiroshi Hasegawa & Rohco) (Japan), Torturing Nurse (China), and Vomir (France). Other guests like Marko Neuman, Déhà (Musical Excrements) and Junko (Hijokaidan) are also featured in this free-forming transformation of sound, that ranges from drone to industrial noise to free jazz and doom. The range of sounds transcend into unexpected directions and territories, all serving as the base of this album. There is a rhizomatic meeting between the different artists with different styles and different subjectivities being captured here. Due to its instinctive and improvisational nature, the tracks will never exist in the same form ever again. "However, the author is dead and the duty is passed to the listener, as improvisation is forever open-ended". Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve with 8-page booklet. |
DISCORDANCE - 'Creative Hatred' CD (Phage Tapes) - £11.50
Discordance was the vicious Power Electronics / Death Industrial project of Gabriele Giuliani, aka Dead Body Love. "Creative Hatred" was originally released on cassette by Marco Corbelli's legendary Slaughter Productions label in 1996, and also features ATRAX MORGUE on one track. This is true Italian post-mortem electronics. Reissued onto CD for the first time, and remastered by Grant Richardson (Gnawed). Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak. |
EUROSHIMA - 'Gala' CD (Twilight Records) - £12
Reissue of the cult album from this legendary darkwave / post-punk / goth band from Argentina. Beginning in 1986, this emotional and intense album was released to great success a year later on the underground scene. Ignored by the press at the time, this was to be their only album before breaking up. The sound reminds us of bands like Selofan, Lebanon Hannover, Mephisto Waltz, or many other 30+ year old 'classic' acts. Three years after the death of their singer Wanda, this highly sought after album is finally brought back to life on CD format for first time. Digipak. |
EXTREMA RATIO - 'A Dangerous Method' CD (ADN) - £12
Unorthadox and dissident antagonism, unfolded by collisions and frictions, attractions and repulsions, lacerations and sutures. "A highly unique fusion of hyperintense screaming and brutally growling vocals, the muscular drum power and vibe of classic Hardcore whilst all guitar and bass riffing usually associated with the genre have been replaced by oftentimes shrieking, repetitive sax torture and underlying electronic effects to create a well demanding, yet highly recommended tour de force that's to be fully appreciated by those who have been seeking out sonic extremes for a reason (Nitestylez)" Tense, primitive, instinctive and unmediated hardcore / free jazz / noise, sampling figures as varied as William S. Burroughs, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Antonio Gramsci, and Mao. Mastered by James Plotkin. 6-panel digipak. |
FRANCESCO ZIELLO - 'Nine Hundred Fifty Seven' CD (ADN) - £12
Debut solo album from multi-instrumentalist and electroacoustic composer Francesco Ziello. Since 2017 he has dedicated himself to musical research activities and its possible applications towards neurological pathologies. "Nine Hundred Fifty Seven" is the result of long-term exploration of how the environment influences a person; of the human limits and relationships with violence. The hidden plot that runs through the album is based on the story of Jeffrey Dahmer and is an attempt to look into social isolation and development of one's unreal inner world. Through different instruments used on stage (piano, electric and 12-string guitar, old string instruments converted to percussion and electronically processed), he returns to a minimal and emotional instrumental approach, keeping alive the experiences conducted in the world of contemporary art and research. Digipak. |
GIULIO ALDINUCCI | MATTEO UGGERI - 'Bureau' CD (ADN) - £12
Melodic ambient and dark drones, with minimalist rhythms and processed field recordings, based on alienation. In 2016 Matteo Uggeri (Sparkle In Grey) took hundreds of pictures during his working days in 70's building aimed at training and desk work located in the surroundings of Milan. Later that winter the photographs served as inspiration for this album themed on alienation of office working life. The tracks are based on outdoor field recordings by Uggeri and Aldinucci, minimalist drum patterns and drones, looped, treated and reshaped in order to be transformed into beats, rhythms, dark drones and melodies. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak. |
GOMIKAWA FUMIO (INCAPACITANTS) - 'The Rise And Fall Of Gomikawa Fumio' MCD (Hello From The Gutter) - £14
Gomikawa Fumio is a Japanese Noise group from: Toshiji Mikawa (Incapacitants / Hijokaidan) & Kosakai Fumio (Incapacitants, C.C.C.C.) & Kohei Gomi (Painjerk / Incapacitants). This is the recording of a legendary concert at 20000V, April 2002 in Tokyo. The sound source has been clearly remastered by Shinki Nishiyama (SOUP Ochiai), giving a sense of realism. High-pitched noise for the Japanoise enthusiasts, transporting the listener into the intensity, excitement, and indeed euphoria of the live setting. This is the first release in 18 years since the album "Return Of Gomikawa Fumio" (Alchemy Records). 25mins. Sealed card sleeve with artwork by Wackwack. |
GYDJA - 'Ár Var Alda (In Ancient Times)' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50
Dark ambience for dark goddesses. Gydja presents "Ár var Alda (In Ancient Times)". Thick, expansive drones, woven through with intricate percussive elements, unearthly vocals and atmospheric field recordings. An album of deep, primordial dark ambient. "Ár var Alda" is a simultaneously chthonic and celestial exploration of the opening moments of creation in Norse cosmology, as described in Völuspá and Vafþrúðnismál, envisioned as a suite of nine Rökkr ambient tracks spread across four movements. Gydja is Abby Helasdottir, the wonderful artist and graphic designer behind many Cold Spring releases over the last two decades. Mastered by Robin Storey (Rapoon, ex-Zoviet France). Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digipak.

HIMUKALT - 'Between My Teeth' LP (Helen Scarsdale Agency) - £19
Dark, psychosexual electronics lurk between the teeth of Ester Kärkkäinen, the Las Vegas based artist also known as Himukalt. Bleak industrial productions and uncompromising, full-frontal noise which parallels the works of Genocide Organ and Atrax Morgue. "Between My Teeth" was originally a small edition cassette (2018 Several Minor Promises), now reissued as a vinyl edition with expanded artwork. The album is a maelstrom of ill-tempered noise and blackened frequencies, sutured to a foundation of primitive, raw rhythms. Kärkkäinen cuts up her own voice with the digital equivalent of a rusted razor blade through her proclamations of misery, rage, and desire. Another bold, declarative album in the ever impressive Himukalt discography. Remastered by James Plotkin. Features a full-size booklet of Kärkkäinen's signature collaged xerography. Already sold out from the label!

INCAPACITANTS - 'Incapacitants' LP (Urashima) - £22
The first ever release of one of the most sought-after artifacts from the 80's noise scene - Incapacitants' first cassette, recorded in 1981 by Toshiji Mikawa - has never been released until now. Few projects can claim the seminal importance of the Incapacitants on worldwide noise scene. The group was formed in 1981 in Osaka, as the solo project of Toshiji Mikawa (Hijokaidan), later joined by Fumio Kosakai (Hijokaidan, ex-C.C.C.C.), to make Incapacitants a duo. As Incapacitants they've been making some of the most unremittingly ear-shattering racket for decades, and still one of the most radical and powerful. The vinyl, like the cassette consists of a long track on side A titled "Fulfilled Promise" that starts slowly and gradually transforms into a crackling volcano and then comes the bursts and the outflow of lava, always controlled. Side B is a noise gem titled "Plague" - intense and pure noise that characterizes all the production of the Incapacitants. The two sides are very different from each other, but they contain the same exciting, terrifying, hypnotic and fascinating soul. This vinyl edition faithfully reproduces the order and duration of the tracks recorded on tape 40 years ago. Includes a 12" insert with extensive notes by Toshiji Mikawa in Japanese with translation by Kato David Hopkins in English. A must-have! Fully remastered by Andrea Marutti for vinyl. Ltd x 299 copies. Sold out from the label!

K2 / VIVIANKRIST / RISARIPA - 'Autocrine' CD (Phage Tapes) - £11.50
3-way split of analogue insanity by Risaripa and Viviankrist (Gallhammer), and long time noise musician K2. "At that time, Viviankrist and Risaripa had released each digital album / mini-album on SNS. Because I have had much interest in their works, I quickly got contact with them, and we exchanged each others work. I felt their works are brilliant and great. So, I proposed to make a 3 ways split work... we firstly promised that each one track was made with using only three electronic instruments, including voice, and up to five pedals, and then the total time was about 20 minutes by each artist. We are a kind of mania for the electronic instruments, and at the presence, we are proceeding each specific "electronic music" by each way. This album may be the requiem for our dawn of electronic music. Noise? Electronica? New wave? Industrial? We never belong to any musical genres. Please enjoy our electronic world" (K2). Ltd x 200 copies. |
KAKERLAK - 'Motel Dwelling' 2 x CD (Phage Tapes) - £13.50
Xerox saturated, ultra vile sounds keeping the 90's Americanoise corpse afloat. The sound of your skull full of cockroaches. Kakerlak is the prolific project of Nolan Throop (Rumination / Vergraben), with over 40 releases since its inception in 2005, including collaborations with esteemed noise artists such as The Rita, Macronympha, and Oscillating Innards..."Motel Dwelling" was originally released on Harsh Head Rituals (2006) as a 3-cassette boxset edition of just 75 copies. Remastered by Grant Richardson (Gnawed). Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel double digipak. |
LLYN Y CWN - 'Llugwy' Cassette (Muzan Editions) - £9.50
Llyn Y Cwn's brand of slow-burn tectonic drone evokes the geologic hum of "deep time" - the breadth of Earth's incomprehensibly long time scale, slowly made legible by geologic activity. On a timeline outside of the strictures of biblical chronology, where humans are merely a blip and the interval in between the systolic and diastolic phases in the Earth's heartbeat lasts decades, the idea that a timeline longer than that laid down by the church was initially controversial in its time. Llyn Y Cwn's primary inspiration is the land. It has a distinct sense of presence - powerful, ancient; eternal even. Similar in tone to Thomas Köner, a base coat of wet and wintry field recordings made in the hills of North Wales are paired with deep drones and washes of snowy synth pads built up to evoke the intimidating scale and harsh cold of Snowdonia in its greyer months. The folklore behind the mountain ranges that are the tracks' namesakes anchor the works firmly in place: "The two tracks are named after mountain peaks in the Llugwy area of Snowdonia - Pen Llithrig y Wrach (Slippery Hill of the Witch) and Pen yr Helgi Du (Hill of the Black Hunting Hound), according to Welsh folklore a pure black hunting dog (Helgi Du) is the only thing that can kill a witch that has transformed herself into a hare" Coupled with the artist's breath-taking landscape photography that accompanies each release (including two monumental albums for Cold Spring), Llyn Y Cwn has created another dense, yet dreamy environment. 60 minutes. Ltd x 100 copies in a foldout sleeve, on silver cassettes with black print. Comes with download card.

MASONNA - 'Freak' LP (Urashima) - £22
An absolutely astounding piece of work by one of the great pioneers of extreme noise from Japan! "Freak" is an ultra-rare cassette originally released in 1995 by Coquette in an edition of 36 copies in a special gold paper and now return for the first time on vinyl format. This mature work is brash, earsplitting and mad. The distortion and effects on the vocals are top notch, they in combination with his awesome screaming create a complete audio assault. Everything is scraped, fast and beautiful and focuses an electrically overcharged universe, punctuating the thrilling and vocal sonorous power with some quite moments and brief interruptions, conferring a very particular dynamic to this work. Cascades of electronic noise, a psychedelic touch and vocal belching mixed together constitute the ingredients of Mademoiselle Anne Sanglante Ou Notre Nymphomanie Auréolé, the double-barrelled name for Masonna. Maso Yamazaki founded his project in 1987, with a charismatic and glamorous personality who become a cult figure in the Japanoise scene. Originally released as single-sided C30 tape, this fully-remastered vinyl edition is divided into two parts of about 15 minutes each. Ltd x 299 copies with A3 poster.

MERZBOW - 'Rainbow Electronics' 2 x LP (Urashima) - £32
Since 1979, Merzbow has stood as the most important artist in Japanese noise music. Originally released on CD in 1990 by Alchemy Records as part of the Good Alchemy Series, "Rainbow Electronics" marks the pinnacle of Merzbow's late 80's noise phase. Selected and transformed from about 21 hours of tapes of primitive raw material recorded during three years (1987-1990) in 14 fragments and lasting about 74 minutes, this monumental work is an aural trip through a cold plotted universe of intergalactic space ships and golden celestial bodies. Remastered and split into four parts by Masami for this double vinyl version, it opens up with a slow, kind of creepy tempo, reaching from dirty harsh noise flows coupled with eerie reverbed screeches and scrapes of iron objects. Noise and blasts come from every angle, and all you can do is sit and take it. Then continues with solid drumbeats briefly emerging from the static and disappearing just as quickly, again long stretches of subdued electronic drones buzzing along sleepily and the occasional sudden shift of noise into something more violent, though it all happens kind of slowly and gradually. A truly mesmerizing and immersive body of sound and its intense finish is something of pure artform. Ltd x 299 copies in a gatefold sleeve faithfully reproducing the original art work, and with 12" insert. Sold out from the label!

MUNKNÖRR - 'Rúnaákall' CD (Twilight Records) - £12
Munknörr is a project of Nordic and Celtic music with shamanic elements, from Montevideo, Uruguay. In their beautiful compositions they seek a pagan sound with a dark mystic and primitive atmosphere. Rúnaákall is related to the runes, and each rune has a different vibe according to what it represents to us and what it represented to the Scandinavian people. The album is also about shamanism, nature and magic, a shamanic view of the meaning of the runes. They express in the form of music what they feel and understand about nature in a primitive, tribal and ritualistic wave. For fans of Wardruna, Forndom, or Heilung. Digipak. |
PRIMITIVE KNOT - 'Fight The Future' LP (Phage Tapes) - £20
"Manchester's Primitive Knot return with an album of dark, crushingly heavy riffs and dystopian dread. Listening to Fight The Future, or any Primitive Knot album for that matter, it's hard to believe that it's the work of one man. Obscured by a balaclava and going by the name Jim Knot, Manchester's prolific one-man riff-machine creates the kind of overwhelming sonic assault you'd usually associate with a full band. While undeniably uncompromising there's something deeply enthralling and addictive about this ludicrously heavy combination of metal, industrial and psych-rock influences... The album uses sci-fi and horror to deliver an extremely pertinent message of dissent, anger and protest. The dystopian imagery perhaps once reserved for novels and film now interwoven with the daily news. As the title suggests, Fight The Future isn't about to lie down and give up... " (Louder Than War). Ltd x 225 copies. |
RUGGERO TAJÉ & AHMED BEN DHIAB - 'Live Concerts 1990 - 2006' CD (ADN) - £12
Live concerts in Spain, Mexico and France spanning a 16-year period by Italian experimental electronic composer, drummer and guitarist Ruggero Tajé, and Tunisian painter, poet, author, composer, art teacher and singer Ahmed Ben Dhiab. Immersive free improvisation, experimental electronics and tribal music featuring rich instrumentation, with chanting from Ahmed. The performances also feature: Nabil Khalidi: oud (Morocco), Raul Barboza: accordion (Argentina), Carlo Rizzo: percussion (France), Michel Doneda: saxophone (France). Digipak. |
SONATA ISLANDS KOMMANDOH - 'Quasar Burning Bright' CD (ADN) - £12
Sonata Islands Kommandoh is a hyper-eclectic ensemble founded by flutist and composer Emilio Galante in 1998. Switching genres, approaches and even core members with each project, the ensemble explores far-reaching territory from the worlds of jazz, classical, prog rock (a la Magma), avant-garde and, especially on this album, glitchy electronic music. "Quasar Burning Bright" finds the ensemble seamlessly weaving modal sounds and free jazz with deep-groove funk, a touch of metal and a healthy dose of synthesizers and other electronics. The resulting sound is hinted at by the album's title - the dazzling luminescence of an invisible and far distant star surrounded by both vast space and unexpected explosions. Already sold out from the label! Digipak. |
STRIATIONS - 'Collection 2' CD (Phage Tapes) - £11.50
The first 18 tracks from this collection by American power electronics / harsh noise unit Striations includes 18 tracks from the "Trauma Code 2" tape released in 2020 by Gutterbloat. Collision worship concept pieces varying in sounds from shrieking feedback, clanging and crushing metal abuse and harsh noise blasting aggression. Well-placed found sounds and samples, scraps of all types put into a grinder for a cut-up maelstrom, and foreboding segues that make you wonder if it's you that the first responders are coming to collect off the road. Blood and brains on the asphalt; a deeper meditation of vehicular slaughter and first-hand horror of bodies tested by force and inertia. Also includes a bonus track previously featured on a limited split release with Richard Ramirez, plus a previously-unreleased track. Features art by Adam Medford. |
THE RITA - 'Anna Kogler Found In The River' CD (Phage Tapes) - £11.50
A gathering of three rare, monolithic and relentlessly powerful documents of harsh noise brutality from 2005-2006: "Anna Christie" mini-CDR (Pitchphase), "Albert Kogler" single-sided 12" (Troniks), and "The Tortured Ghosts Of Creeks And Rivers" 12" (Trash Ritual), totalling an hour. A lurid glimpse into a realm of endlessly focusing obsession. Hyper-violent noise mixed with the pure frenzy of adoration: 1920's feminine style worship, pre-code horror comics and violent controversial 70's comic magazines, paralleled with 60's Mexican gothic horror films, horror and eroticism through illustration and cinema, and shark attack aftermath. As maximized in impenetrability as The Rita's harsh noise minimalism is, there is always a sense that there’s something more complex below the violent surfaces. Each release is like a snapshot in a dossier, piecing together the motives - details unraveling into darker mysteries that reveal paths connecting other releases. edition that true noise listeners will need in their archives. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
THE RITA - 'Macha Vs. Knife' CD (Phage Tapes / Ominous Recordings) - £11.50
Two varied and hard-to-find 30-minute tracks from the Harsh Noise unit of Sam McKinlay (Black To Comm, Vice Wears Black Hose), originally released on CDR. "Macha Magall" from the split with Andy O'Sullivan's GOAT (on Richard Ramirez's Deadline Recordings label, 2007) is Harsh Noise and heavy as Power Electronics: a static, churning track made of what sounds like junk and metal. "Straight Razor Vs Knife" from the split with MAIM (Snip-Snip Records, 2005) offers more high-pitched HNW and is doubtless the most processed track by The Rita, closing in on cut-up with an almost Japanoise feel. A historical document showing parts of The Rita's discography that few people are familiar with. Remastered by Grant Richardson (Gnawed). Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak. |
THE RITA - 'O.C.D. Shin' CD (Phage Tapes / Ominous Recordings) - £11.50
Reissue of a CDR on Trauma Tone from 1998, which collects tracks from The Rita's 1998 self-released cassettes: "Shin Health" and "O.C.D.". "Shin Health" (featuring Kevin Rivard of Vote Robot) and "O.C.D." aren't similar to each other in a way, but also recorded at a certain time. For the fan who expects massive, abrasive textures like recent years The Rita releases, this isn't any of that. This is searing washes of white noise, crude distortion, feedback and a fair share of 90's crunch and crumble. Another rare document, weighing in at a full hour. Remastered by Grant Richardson (Gnawed). Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak. |
WERTHAM / xALLxFORxTHISx - 'To Those Who Murder Bison From The Train' LP (Phage Tapes) - £18
Split 12" based from two Straight Edge Power Electronics acts, based around themes of addiction, drug culture, and the sociocultural / political climate that surrounds both. The xAxFxTx side presents a serious slab of harsh noise-tinged Power Electronics, with influence from the history of the genre, while the Wertham side rests entirely in the realm of heavy synths / death industrial inflected Power Electronics. Ltd x 150 copies with screenprinted covers. |

DIE VERBANNTEN KINDER EVAS - 'Come Heavy Sleep' CD (Twilight Records) - £12
This is the reissue of the long-deleted second album of the well-known medieval neoclassical / 'dungeon synth' band DVKE, who formed in 1993. The band's name translates to "The Banished Children of Eve", and is taken from a line of the hymn Salve Regina. On this release the band used lyrics based on the poems of Percy Bysshe Shelley and moved in a more classical direction, using Gregorian passages, organs, authentic piano and violin. DVKE was founded by Protector and Silenius of SUMMONING / KREUZWEG OST (who left the band after the debut album). This album, originally released by M.O.S. Records in 1997, has been unavailable in any format since its original release... until now. It has a mystic mood with lots of spheric electronic sounds. HAARE - 'Karesansui' CD (4iB Records) - £11.50
When Haare was created in 1999, Ilkka Vekka had a very specific vision of what kind of "ultra" harsh noise he wanted to produce. This involved the idea of sitting still and focused while being immersed inside the turbulent eye of a metallic storm; a whirlwind of feedback and junk metal. The seed for Karesansui was planted. But it did not materialize as the exact sounds he wanted were not up to his expectations. After a period of almost 20 years, Karesansui was finally resurrected and reworked again in 2018. The entire album consists of material combining several recordings made 2018-2019. The main sound sources comprise metal junk, microphone feedback and electronics/fx. Be absorbed in a vortex of harsh screeching feedback, hollow resonating echoes and heavy stereo shifting of organic drones. "ZEN FEEDBACK HARSH NOISE MEDITATION METALJUNK SATORI". Ltd x 200 copies in a gatefold digisleeve. |
KIRLIAN CAMERA - 'Pictures From Eternity - Bilder Aus Der Ewigkeit' CD (Twilight Records) - £11.50
Re-release of one of Kirlian Camera's most legendary albums. Originally on Discordia in 1996, now reissued with 3 exclusive bonus tracks. "Pictures From Eternity" marked the return of Kirlian Camera to their earlier, darker, romantic and melodic days. It's a definite retro album and includes some of the most beautiful tracks Angelo Bergamini has written in 20 years. Kirlian Camera today are without a doubt one of the most important acts in the electro scene and this work marked one of the peak moments of their career, often regarded as their most accessible and most darkwave album. Also features musicians Simon Balestrazzi (T.A.C., Candor Chasma) and Gianluca Becuzzi (Kinetix, ex-Pankow). Second Edition - Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak with slightly different artwork.

SPIT MASK - 'Swallow' MCD (Phage Tapes) - £9.50
Spit Mask is a harsh EBM / Industrial duo from Houston, TX, now based in Berlin. Swallow was originally released as a cassette in 2016 by Clan Destine Records (Ltd 150) but soon went out of print. This is a quick 25 minutes of aggressive EBM but the material is too damn good to go out of print so has been made available in a larger edition size as a CD reissue. Spit Mask's last critically-acclaimed album was released on German label aufnahme + weidergabe. Mastered by Grant Richardson. |
SUTCLIFFE JUGEND - 'Slaves No More' 2 x CD (4iB Records) - £16.50
This double album connects the dots between Sutcliffe Jugend and their new incarnation as Slaves No More (SNM). The decision to end Sutcliffe Jugend was officially announced at the end of 2019 and Slaves No More formed in early 2020. This release bridges the two acts and showcases the somewhat different music styles between them, especially from the former's earlier power electronics sound. Consisting of material recorded right after the "S L A V E S" 6CD set was released back in 2016, this is the sequel to that release. Remnants of the earlier SJ style can be identified on Disc 1 with more vocal parts and noisy elements (especially in "Noise Factory"), and the slightly more ambient and complex soundscapes of "Slaves No More" (SNM) on Disc 2. Both discs contain unreleased material, and they continue to feature layers of noise and sound elements unique to the Sutcliffe Jugend style. The recordings have been particularly curated to showcase the best tracks Kevin and Paul want to present as the final Sutcliffe Jugend release showcasing the connective lead up from "S L A V E S" to an era of new sounds and creative direction, Slaves No More (SNM). Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve with 8-page booklet.

"If 'Pyrrhula' was colour it would be vantablack... It's an album that feels like it sucks the air out of the room. It makes you sit still and take notice, but most importantly, it still sounds as epic and devastating as it did 13 years ago" (Vital Weekly) |

CONTROLLED DEATH (MASONNA) / MAYUKO HINO - 'Split' Picture Disc LP (CSR291P) £20
OUT NOW!
 |
Two giants of the Japanese Noise scene present exclusive material on a special limited vinyl release.
Controlled Death is the nom de plume of Maso Yamazaki (MASONNA), who unleashed his claustrophobic Death Industrial / Blackened Electronics debut for Cold Spring last autumn (the sold out split LP with Rudolf Eb.er). "Devil's Sacrifice" (in 6 parts) continues Maso's obsession with heavy, Korg MS-20 drones. Deranged vocals choked under impenetrable, blood-soaked atmospheres of doom, death and decay, saturated with washes of anxiety, paranoia and alienation.
Mayuko Hino, 'Queen Of Japanese Noise', delivers two lengthy tracks. While the first track is filled with feverish, dense noise and swathes of savage electronics, the second, mind-melting electronic piece (reminiscent of her debut album 'Lunisolar' for Cold Spring) descends into a diseased, suffocating maelstrom, finishing on the verge of psychosis. In addition to self-made instruments, Mayuko plays noise with her six-theremin oscillators (in bright pink) - the one and only in the world, specially made by Ryo Araishi (a.k.a. ichion). Mayuko is most well-known for forming C.C.C.C. (Cosmic Coincidence Control Center) in 1990, together with Hiroshi Hasegawa, Fumio Kosakai and Ryuichi Nagakubo.
Picture disc LP. Ltd x 400 copies in a heavy PVC archive sleeve. |

HIMUKALT - 'Knife Through The Spine' CD (CSR289CD) £11
OUT NOW!
 |
Primitive, old school industrial, with an obsessive, post-mortem feel. This is the first CD edition of Himukalt's cult 2018 LP (originally released on Malignant Records), remastered and including bonus material from the same recording sessions.
"There's something uniquely old school and primitive at work here, capturing the claustrophobic, unsettled and fragmented sound of early Illusion of Safety or mid-late '80s industrial on a whole, contemporising it, and filling it in with an obsessive, post-mortem feel. Knife Through The Spine delivers a steady cascade of abstract sounds, festering with grinding pneumatic throb, coarse frequency blasts and sputtering electronic oscillations, with spliced snippets of processed, flanged vocals and a general sense of social anxiety and disaffection. A unique and challenging take on heavy electronics for fans of Puce Mary, She Spread Sorrow, Atrax Morgue".
Himukalt is the Nevada-based project of the enigmatic Ester Kärkkäinen.
Presented in a 6-panel digipak. |

FM EINHEIT (Einstürzende Neubauten) - 'Exhibition Of A Dream' 2 x CD (CSR292CD) £15
OUT NOW!
 |
Twelve dreams of musicians, artists, and filmmakers, interpreted by FM Einheit (ex-EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN), with voices by: Lee Ranaldo (SONIC YOUTH), Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (PSYCHIC TV / THROBBING GRISTLE), Susan Stenger (BAND OF SUSANS), Émilie Pitoiset, Erika Stucky, and the Gulbenkian Choir; with guest musicians: Volker Kamp, Saskia von Klitzing, Robert Poss, and Susan Stenger.
Exhibition Of A Dream (L'exposition D'un Rêve) is formed of twelve dreams interpreted as songs. Exploded in time, these are played as temporary and evolving patterns of shapes and forms in an otherwise empty gallery following the drawings of mandalas. Exhibition Of A Dream highlights the complex beauty of how to generate a dream in the mind of the spectator. A shared experience to be lived within our own personal inner space, these remastered dreams are an invitation to listen to a sensitive architecture of words and music.
Created 2017, recorded both in public and in private in the amphitheatres and the garden of the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon, and in Einheit's own studio Steinschlag. The dreamers were: Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Lee Ranaldo, Émilie Pitoiset, Susan Stenger, Susie Green, David Link, Pierre Paulin, Alexandre Estrela, Tim Etchells, Gabriel Abrantes, FM Einheit, and Genesis Breyer P-Orridge.
Originally released as a 3LP set, and only ever available at the 2018 exhibition at the Foundation. Presented in a 6-panel matt-laminate double digipak. |

NYTT LAND - 'Fimbulvinter' CD (CSR234CD) £11
OUT NOW!
 |
Second edition of Nytt Land's 2017 album, which quickly sold out on first pressing.
Notably outstanding on the Russian scene and largely compared with the legendary Wardruna, NYTT LAND are unique in their devotion to ritual Northern music and tradition. Their approach, using genuine native hand-crafted instruments, and true Old Norse, help them to grasp the true spirit of ancient Northern music like no one in Eastern Europe has done before. Their music is mostly based on the sources from Poetic Edda, performed in original Old Islandic.
"Fimbulvinter" is enriched with instruments like bagpipes and trembita (Alpine horn), and throat singing skillfully used to illustrate the occurrence of the forces of chaos; chthonic monsters in the world of men and gods. Fear and powerlessness alongside belief in the coming revival, renewal. All Scandinavian mythology is permeated with fatalism, humbleness to fate. The same mood saturates "Fimbulvinter". The first part is dedicated to the creation of the world and people, embodying the warm seasons. The second half to winter, the death of all living things.
6-panel digipak featuring all lyrics. |

JAGATH - 'Devalaya' CD (CSR290CD) £11
OUT NOW!
 |
Jagath is a ritual/industrial ambient act from Perm, Russia.
We create our music at abandoned industrial locations - the bottom of a moist underground sewer shaft and inside huge hollow oil tanks - without using digital synthesis. We use simple, mostly hand-crafted instruments, found objects and our voices. We do this to share our vision of decaying post-industrial age, to unleash the spirit of deep beyond-world and unveil life in the abyss.
"Devalaya" ("Temple") was recorded in vast oil tanks from 2015 to 2018.
6-panel glossy digipak with photography by Gregory Skvortsov and Dmitriy Frolov.

'I REMEMBER YOU' (ÓSKAR THÓR AXELSSON) Original Motion Picture Soundtrack CD (CSR287CD) £10.50
OUT NOW!
|
We are extremely proud to release the official soundtrack to the cult Icelandic horror film 'I REMEMBER YOU' (Is: "Ég man þig"). Heavy dark ambient / industrial / orchestral soundscapes composed by Frank Hall, with a beautiful, solemn, folkloristic finale featuring Icelandic choirs. A must for fans of Graeme Revell, Steven Price, Lustmord, MZ.412. Digipak.
The soundtrack was created at the old industrial area of Grandi in Reykjavík, at a studio due to be 'gentrified' and forcefully emptied of the artists. "I was alone in this large building in this deserted area, working late hours, making music for a horror movie. It was during winter... wind blowing, darkness. There were some tense moments...".
"As soon as I read the script I heard low brass in my head and that kind of stuck. We used a lot of brass instruments, filtered and processed throughout. I also ended up using a lot of bowed guitar, sometimes doubling the brass, sometimes more like a sound effect". Hall also used analogue synths on the special climactic track "Montage".
On the finale, Hall reminisces: "Móðir mín í kví kví (My Mother In The Sheep Pen) is an old Icelandic folk song. The lyrics are based on Icelandic folklore about a woman who had a baby which she couldn't afford to have and left it outside to die, wrapped in a rag. The infant then becomes what we Icelandic call "Útburður" - the ghost of a child who has been left out to die. Some time later the woman wants to go to a dance but has no pretty clothes to wear. She is in the sheep pen attending to the sheep when she hears this whispering outside: "My mother in the sheep pen, don't you worry because I'll lend you my rag, my rag to dance in". It's a rather ominous lyric and this song is sometimes sung for Icelandic babies as a lullaby... a little odd custom perhaps. I remember my mother singing this to me. This is one of my favourite Icelandic folk songs, and when I created the music for "I Remember You", which is about a lost child that haunts people, I suggested to director Óskar Thór Axelsson that I should make an Icelandic choir version of it and use it as a theme / credit song. He loved the idea".
'I Remember You' is based on the internationally acclaimed novel by Yrsa Sigurðardóttir, the "Queen of Icelandic Crime". |

WESTERN, CREED, SPYBEY
'W ands' CD (CSR280CD) £11
OUT NOW!
|
A posthumous collaboration between the late Phil Western (DOWNLOAD, BEEHATCH), Jesse Creed (THE PASSENGER) and Mark Spybey (DOWNLOAD, DEAD VOICES ON AIR, REFORMED FACTION, BEEHATCH). Both Phil and Jesse shared a love for vintage analogue synthesizers such as the VCS3, and the music for "W ands" was largely created using this equipment. In the spirit of how it was created, Spybey added improvised passages using his collection of homemade and ethnic instruments and then edited the pieces.
Phil would often talk about being 'taken away' by music. Both Jesse and Mark have laboured to do this through their own music too, not as a means of escape but to transcend. This music strives to explore the desire to go beyond the ordinary everyday experience and to reach a place where the egos and the individual contributions of the players are largely inconsequential. A place where time doesn't really matter. A place of healing and invention.
An album of expansive drones and analogue electronics, which will undofubtedly appeal to fans of Coil, Nurse With Wound, Zoviet France. Digipak.

LLYN Y CWN 'Dinorwic' CD (CSR286CD) £11
OUT NOW!
|
Llyn Y Cwn conveys atmosphere and environment through deep ambient sounds. The sound of nature re-establishing itself in the post-industrial wilderness of a former quarry. A phantasm of echoes reflecting the bleak majesty and poetic melancholy of the hinterland of North Wales. A hole within a void, a place defined by absence in a world of negative space.
The backdrop for this cavernous soundtrack is Dinorwic slate quarry. The field recordings were taken in this vast subterranean environment where an exposed scar of rock is carved out of the mountainside on the western slope of Elidir Fawr in Snowdonia, North Wales.
Standing alone in the quarry, which covers 700 acres up to a height of 600m, it isn't difficult to imagine work going on around you with the abandoned industrial landscape juxtaposed against the backdrop of the majestic Snowdonia skyline.
Each track is named after an area of the quarry, descending ever deeper through each rock gallery, with their acoustically unique echoes and sounds. The landscape is in a state of constant flux with small avalanches of rock and spoil slate tumbling over itself - it was such a landslide that led to the eventual demise of the quarry. The hydroelectric power station, built deep underground inside the mountain, can be heard rumbling away through the various air shafts dotted around the quarry, adding to the overall ominous feel of the pieces.
File next to fellow Welshman Lustmord.
Presented in a 6-panel digipak with breathtaking photography by the artist. |

LA BREICHE 'Le Rite' CD (CSR280CD) £11
OUT NOW!
|
LA BREICHE ("the witch") features YAN AREXIS (Stille Volk / Sus Scrofa / Common Eider, King Eider / Coume Ouarnède), and PATRICK LAFFORGUE (Stille Volk / Sus Scrofa / Hantaoma). The two musicians are also the creators of the cult festival L'Homme Sauvage, held in Midi-Pyrenees each year.
After their 2017 debut "Le Mal des Ardents" (Cold Spring), "Le Rite" opens a new door, with post-folk sounds close to post-rock, influenced by ancient music, with folk used in a modernist way. Dark, ambient and yet mystical... deep with grandiose landscapes.
The sound of La Breiche is situated at the crossroads of early music and dark ambient; ambient music, industrial music with a strong ritual dimension. Their electro-acoustic is music based on old instruments such as the hurdy-gurdy, mixed with analogue synths, field recordings, and ritual objects, taking a mystified look at nature, archaic societies, rites, beliefs and lores, animism.
Presented in a stunning 6-panel digipak with artwork by Dehn Sora.
