ASHTORETH & STRATOSPHERE - 'Between Worlds' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50
Two Belgian artists combine musical forces and present a new collaborative work of high quality soundscapes. "Seven finely woven pieces that ebb and flow between what we perceive to be real and what we sense but cannot see. A transition from darkness to light; a gradient of black to white. Slipping barely noticed between the two. A blurred movement on the edge of our peripheral vision. A push of air gently felt or a change of pressure within a room. Sensed but never grasped, felt but never seen". While Stratosphere mainly focuses on cleanly produced guitar drones and soundscapes, Ashtoreth tends to dive into the darker, occult side of things. Over 50 minutes of shimmering drone / dark ambient. Dedicated to the life and art of Nicky Hellemans. Ltd x 200 copies in a digipak. |
ATRAX MORGUE - '195 Melrose Ave NW2' CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £12
Obsession and expression. "195 Melrose Ave NW2" sits as a highlight in the Atrax Morgue catalogue. Marco's desires, pleasures, hate, and disgust are laid out and displayed for us to inspect. Originally released in 1996 (Self Abuse Records) as a limited cassette, now reissued onto CD for the first time for its 25th anniversary. "Marco Corbelli wore his obsessions on his sleeve while Dennis Nilsen kept his hidden. Marco's work was released into the world. Nilsen kept his close and private at 195 Melrose Avenue, NW2, London". Marco recorded his expressions so they could survive his mortal existence. Laid down decades ago, but still here for the rarefied pleasure that only exists when we truly give in and let go. The lyrics are distilled down to a handful of words, but these are all that is necessary to paint the picture. The purity of Atrax Morgue cannot be understated. True, raw, and direct to an extent that rarely exists in any artform. Obsession took control and we have this release as evidence; we are the eye witnesses. Found amongst the original tapes were 3 previously unreleased tracks, included as bonus material here. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak.
|
FOLKSTORM - 'Dödsabnorm' CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £12
A year after the superb "Nihil Total" album Folkstorm returns stronger than ever with an album of suffocating and death-infused orthodox industrial. A beast of an album recorded using only 70's circuitry and lots of metallic percussion. Nordvargr (MZ.412) has created a dense atmosphere that is dark and threatening as well as hypnotic. A clear statement of what 2020, and possibly the future, will hold for us all: decay, darkness and suffering. Great old school industrial, sounding very close to Brighter Death Now or Genocide Organ but also with a very dark touch of MZ.412. Contains a bonus CD-only track "Death Strike". Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak.
|
GRAEME REVELL - 'The Insect Musicians / Necropolis, Amphibians & Reptiles'' CD + Book (Old Europa Cafe) - £18
A deluxe collection of two albums from 1986 by Graeme Revell, the mastermind behind the seminal Industrial project SPK, and a renowned Hollywood soundtrack artist. Back in 1986, "The Insect Musicians" was probably the first album created using computer only. Years before Matmos, Lopez or Autechre, Revell created microtonal music - not only using samples of micro-sounds (here, the sound of insects), but also experimenting with the nature of sound itself. The newest technology of the time is mixed with nature; all material comes from the natural environment. An incredible album capturing many different sound-shades. For best results, listen on good headphones. The remaining tracks were originally used on the compilation "Necropolis, Amphibians & Reptiles", involving Nurse With Wound and Déficit Des Années Antérieures, and dedicated to Adolf Wölfli. Following a troubled early childhood, Wölfli was in and out of institutions from an early age, eventually spending the last 35 years of his adult life at the Waldau Clinic, a psychiatric hospital in Bern. Often disturbed and violent, he suffered from psychosis, which led to intense hallucinations. It was at the Clinic that Wölfli began his incredible drawings, producing more then 1400 drawings, more then 1500 collages, and 25000 pages of writings. He is now considered one of the most important early Art Brut and Outsider Artists. Ltd x 300 copies in a deluxe digi-slipcase with 40-page booklet about insect sounds and sampling technologies used for the recordings as well as extensive analysis about the life and work of Adolf Wölfli.
|
GRIM - 'Tokyo Hallucination' CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £13
A psychedelic journey through Tokyo between ecstasy and hallucination. Excellent experimental/ post-Industrial by the Japanese master Jun Konagaya (White Hospital, Vasilisk). The sounds are rumbling and beating with distant rhythms, sampled voices of city ghosts and spirits. Cut-ups by deformed animals, blinking lights, fast-moving geishas, blood and drugs... and a screaming / laughing voice which reminds of Captain Beefheart. The result is like a Japanese Burroughs book turned into Muzak. Ltd x 300 copies in a digisleeve with 12-page booklet.
|
HAARE - 'Acid Realm' CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £12
Very dense Psychedelic-Industrial sounds from Finland! HAARE is the solo project of Ilkka Vekka. Continuing in the same psychedelic / electroacoustic / death industrial direction as the former albums "Brain" and "Tantric Noise", we dive even deeper into The Acid Realm. Layers of acoustic and electronic instruments combined with scraping metal, flutes and distant guitar distortions take you deep into a melting, boiling broth, building a new and separated world. Music for meditation, music for the soul, music for reaching an other side of reality. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak.
|
MASSTISHADDHU - 'Shekinah' CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £12
Reissue of a rare cult album, first released on Steven Stapleton's (Nurse With Wound) label United Dairies in 1988. Includes the previously unheard, unreleased 30-minute track 'Winter Hare Dance', exclusive to this edition. Masstishaddhu were Sean Breadin (Sedayne), Mike Watson and Richard Rupenus (The New Blockaders), all of whom were also members of Metgumbnerbone. Tribal and Droning Psychedelia, "Shekinah" comprises two 20+ minute slabs of highly experimental music in the early Coil / Current 93 / Organum vein with touches of mysticism. "Shekinah could be described as very dark Gothic Ritual Folk with a sprinkling of occult allure. The title, cover and music all suggest bloodied altars, unfathomable rituals and mystical learning. The low and buzzing drone underscores a lava flow of chants, cellos and percussion. Whatever words are spoken during this procession of yearning melodies and utterly ethereal voices is perhaps best left for the Gods" (Brainwashed). "In the ‘80s underground, Ritual Ambient and Tribal Ambient were both coming to fruition and although they had a rough framework there wasn't yet a concrete basis for how the genres were set to develop... Shekinah is undoubtedly unique, perpetuating the 'ritual' side of ambient through disconcerting vocalisations and chants (A Tertiary Source). Mastered from the original tapes by Colin Potter (NWW). Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak.

RAISON D'ÊTRE - 'Enthralled By The Wind Of Loneliness' 2 x LP (Old Europa Cafe / Cyclic Law) - £24
First vinyl release for Swedish Dark Ambient legend Raison D'être's 1994 album (originally released on Cold Meat Industry), with 4 related bonus tracks, not featured on that original album (taking it to over 75 minutes). For this recording all sounds have been restored and re-recorded from the original source material and all tracks have been carefully remixed to maintain the true feeling and atmosphere of the original album but with current standards for high quality audio.
Remastered for vinyl according to the K-14 level standard by Peter Andersson. Ltd x 300 copies in a heavy 350gr matt-laminate gatefold sleeve.
|
RAISON D'ÊTRE - 'In Sadness, Silence And Solitude' 2 x LP (Old Europa Cafe / Cyclic Law) - £24
First vinyl release for Swedish Dark Ambient legend Raison D'être's 1997 album (originally released on Cold Meat Industry), with 7 bonus tracks (which were included in an expanded 2014 CD edition), taking it to over 82 minutes. Mammoth stone walls stretching high into the unknown, dank cellars strewn with bones and ashes. A chill in the lonely night wind disturbed by the utterance of arcane phrases. This is music guaranteed to at least bring about thoughts of mysticism, if it doesn't produce mystical states outright. This defines the term hauntingly beautiful. For this recording all sounds have been restored and re-recorded from the original source material and all tracks have been carefully remixed to maintain the true feeling and atmosphere of the original album but with current standards for high quality audio. Remastered for vinyl according to the K-14 level standard by Peter Andersson. Ltd x 300 copies in a matt-laminate gatefold sleeve.

RAISON D'ÊTRE - 'Prospectus I' 2 x LP (Old Europa Cafe / Cyclic Law) - £24
First vinyl release for Swedish Dark Ambient legend Raison D'être's 1993 album (originally released on Cold Meat Industry), with 4 related bonus tracks, not featured on that original album (taking it to over 75 minutes). A stunning blend of the modern soft gothic sound and the timeless chants of Catholic rituals. It is at once a beautiful sound, yet also filled with melancholy. Archaic layers of string sounds, bells and choirs are intermingling with heavy drums and industrial loops creating an unsettling and threatening background atmosphere whilst spleen and sweetness forms the foreground.
|
RAISON D'ÊTRE - 'Within The Depths Of Silence And Phormations' 2 x LP (Old Europa Cafe / Cyclic Law) - £24
First vinyl release for Swedish Dark Ambient legend Raison D'être's 1995 album (originally released on Cold Meat Industry), with 5 bonus compilation-only tracks from the era (which were included in an expanded 2013 CD edition), taking it to over 83 minutes. Layers of ethereal atmospheres and the collage of choirs, strings, bells and occasional voices slowly bleed together to create music for society whose spirituality has been rendered impotent. Soaking in this world, one is left with the impression of overwhelming sadness and profound desolation. This is the sound of all hope nullified.

RNGMNN - 'False Dawn' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50
Ronny Engmann (aka RNGMNN) returns his brand new album "False Dawn". Following on in the snow trodden footsteps of his previous venture "Arctic Interference","'False Dawn" shrouds the listener in a blanket of ice cold, polar dark ambient. Navigating treacherous, unforgiving landscapes; disorientating and unsettling, filled with percussive elements that could shatter the ice covered peaks of the bones of the world. "Nothing is what it seems". RNGMNN delivers us eight tracks and just under an hour showcasing his strong and inimitable dark ambient style. Ltd x 200 copies in a digipak. |
TONY TEARS - 'The Atlantean Afterlife (... Living Beyond)' CD (Pariah Child) - £9
Tony Tears - aka Antonio Polidori (ex-Abysmal Grief) one of the founding fathers of the Italian esoteric, dark doom scene - returns as a revamped quintet on the band's eighth full-length album. Expect a daring opus vaguely akin to "Demons Crawl..." albeit elevated to a significantly higher plane. Superior compositions, personal performances and production values accentuate their collective vision. This is an exploration of Cult, Magic and Reincarnation. The epitome of Italian Dark Sound in 2021! "The story of an imperishable myth linked to an infinite knowledge that goes far beyond earthly life". Digipak with 20-page booklet.

TOSHIYUKI HIRAOKA - 'Waterphone II' CD (Edgetone Records) - £11.50
Toshiyuki Hiraoka is known in the US horror film industry, and is also the collaborator of Dave-iD Busaras (Virgin Prunes). The Waterphone (or ocean harp) has been described as acoustic synthesizers, which are often used as sound effects in movies. "Waterphone II" is the sequel to his first album Waterphone which utilises not only the unique elements that the Waterphone has to offer but also his original approach to integrating acoustics and electronics. A waterphone (as pictured on the cover) is a type of inharmonic acoustic tuned idiophone consisting of a stainless steel resonator bowl or pan with a cylindrical neck and bronze rods of different lengths and diameters around the rim of the bowl. When the resonator contains a small amount of water it gives the Waterphone a vibrant ethereal sound. It has been used to great effect on many horror films such as Poltergeist, Aliens, and Let The Right One In. "This album sounds incredible. With the help from some electronics, he gets lots of bizarre, vaporous sounds from these instruments, sometimes resembling melodic feedback, even eerily approaching the human voice at times. It's easy to hear how these tones could be used in scary/creepy movies, but they work fascinatingly well on their own" (The Answer Is In The Beat). Digipak.

UNCODIFIED - 'Wrecks Of Tomorrow' CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £12
Uncodified's latest brainchild is among his most devastating works ever. Nine tracks of extreme electronic arrangements to shape an increasingly contaminated and uncompromising style. "In search of both identity and remembrance, within a scenario of urban and social decay which is becoming more and more oppressive. How long do we have to make up our mind? The perfect soundtrack for all those phobias, insecurities and anguish nurtured by a contemporary society close to its almost inevitable decline". Power-electronics cues, death industrial, radical noise, filtered vocals, distorted metal beats and varied brutalism from Uncodified (Corrado Altieri). Once more mastered by Simon Balestrazzi (T.A.C.) enriched by Marco Wertham's artwork (Wertham / Caligula031). Ltd x 200 copies in a digipak.

CON-DOM - 'Subjection' CD (Industrial Recollections / Freak Animal) - £11

CONTRASTATE - 'The Illusion Of Power' CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £12
The re-release of two tracks available on a very limited 10" lathe-cut vinyl, released for Contrastate's first live appearance in Italy, at OEC's historic Congresso Post Industriale festival, October 2019. Also features 4 brand new and unreleased tracks. A sonic soundtrack to an apocalyptic world that is hypnotic, yet still full of dynamic sounds and shifts. Their sound insinuates itself somewhere inside the dark ritual ambience of the electronic avant-garde shot through with a vein of experimental noise and sarcophetic vocals strewn amongst industrial surrealism. "Brexit: a dark tunnel driven by fear and past anger and the desire for war against the other, or a symbol of Europe's popular imagination breaking free from its disaffection to re-invent itself. Is the real price war by any means necessary?" Remastered for CD. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak.

ETHNIC ACID - 'Power Works 1986-88' 2 x CD (Industrial Recollections / Freak Animal) - £13.50
This double CD collection compiles the recordings of Ethnic Acid, including tracks from the original Broken Flag releases, plus many others including unreleased tracks. Ethnic Acid was bassist Anthony Di Franco's electronic industrial noise project, which existed briefly in the mid 80's. Di Franco has also recorded under the guises of AX and JFK, and is a member of the groups Ramleh (with Gary Mundy), and Novatron (with Kevin Laska of Transitional). |
HAARE - 'Regression' CD (Freak Animal) - £11
On this CD, Haare goes forward to a less expected direction. Offering six songs, where material may still be loosely connected to "drone", but far more in the direction of industrial noise. Grim and distorted soundscapes, piercing feedback, buried distorted vocals and slowly drifting industrial waste manages to provide fresh new angle to extensive Haare discography! The sound is lo-fi, crude and filled with disturbing distortions and crackles and elements one could perhaps label as technical imperfections. From this Regression emerges a new type of Haare recording. |
INNER VISION LABORATORY - 'Relics' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50
Polish artist IVL creates industrial dark ambient, with elements of ethnic and classical music (including grand piano). The inspiration for this album came from different science-fiction and post-apocalyptic books and movies, but also from the artists' personal thoughts regarding mankind's condition. 'Relics' is a musical illustration for the very distant future, where humanity has failed in its progress and moved to total annihilation. Relics are the only things humanity has left behind. Other higher advanced civilisations will come to visit our now desolate planet to collect these relics; these fading tokens of the past. They come to visit the Museum of Savages, who destroyed their own habitat and rendered their once beautiful planet uninhabitable. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak. |
RICHARD RAMIREZ - 'Uniform Scene [The Lost Album]' 2 x CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £16
The long overdue release of a lost album from 25 years ago! Recently found in the OEC archives, the forgotten double tape master was received from US Noise stalwart Richard Ramirez (Werewolf Jerusalem, Black Leather Jesus) in 1995. Originally destined to be a double tape, for some reason it was never released in any format. This gem features Ramirez's finest Old-School Industrial-Noise. It has been remastered and boosted for CD format by Devis Granziera (Teatro Satanico / Lunus). Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel double digipak.

ROTAT - 'Carnal Beauty' CD (Freak Animal) - £11
After hearing this great recording of Finnish noise artist ROTAT, Freak Animal decided that merely around a dozen copies as a self financed tape wasn't enough! What we have here is the full length CD version of Carnal Beauty, originally released by Deviants Clove Productions in 2015. The band quote influences such as TAINT and SMELL & QUIM, providing both sleazy and grim as well as a deranged sense of black humor. It is hard to put ROTAT into a narrow category; it goes from harsh and brutal noise to power electronics, with lots of primitive sounds and electronic damage. It is an ugly and disturbing recording. |
SHIFT / SICK SEED - 'Shift / Sick Seed' LP (Freak Animal) - £18
Heavyweight Swedish / Finnish face off. Shift (Unrest Productions boss) is at his most aggressive here. A monolith 16+ minute track from harsh crackling industrial noise with aggressive voice to thick and heavy droning sounds with subtle spoken word sampling. Sick Seed (aka Pekka PT of Gelsomina, Peenemünde) presents 3 tracks of caveman power electronics. Ugly, fierce and nasty stuff. Ltd x 300 copies with insert. |
SICKNESS / JOHN WIESE - 'Amnesia' 7" (Freak Animal) - £8
Brutal Harsh Noise collaboration from Chris Goudreau (Sickness, Omei) and John Wiese (Smegma, Bastard Noise, Sissy Spacek). This is the 99th (!!) 7" vinyl release from John Wiese and the first 7" from Sickness. Four tracks of high energy, extremely vivid and frantic harsh noise. In the best possible tradition of these two masterminds, the compositions are razor sharp and to the point. "They really compressed an album's worth of substance into this small piece of vinyl, offering more in 10 minutes than many artists during their entire career". Essential for anyone into dynamic harsh noise! Ltd x 300 copies. |

UNITED BIBLE STUDIES - 'Divining Movements' 2 x CD (Pariah Child / Yoshiwara Collective) - £13.50
For this album, United Bible Studies was the quartet of David Colohan, Alison O'Donnell (The Owl Service), Dominic Cooper (The Owl Service, The Straw Bear Band), and Matt Leivers. "Divining Movements" is part of a trilogy which started with the "Cave Hill Ascension" LP. "Divining Movements" is firmly within the more meditative vein of the longer "Cave Hill Ascension" pieces. Divining movements are a way of accessing the numinous. The album is a literal movement through and a meditation on landscapes and starscapes, exploring them in four musical movements and divinations... Gentle, ethereal and haunting, this is an evocation both external and interior. A cyclical journey without a definite beginning and end. Presented in a 6-panel digisleeve.

Absolute provocation released in the heaviest picture disc vinyl illustrated with the visualisation of the talented collagist Kristian Olsson, whose suggestion equals that of Hieronymus Bosch's hallucinations. SURVIVAL UNIT - 'Fentanyl Martyrs' 2 x CD (Autarkeia) - £20
A deluxe double CD set - and the final release - from the uncompromising Swedish post-mortem / power electronics project of Kristian Olsson (Alfarmania). This time an especially dreadful and relevant theme has been chosen for compromising the declared illusions of human civilisation. Both discs have been dedicated to Chechnya undergoing the total genocide, the total war where neither honour nor rules are acknowledged, except perhaps those of Marquis de Sade, who would have never imagined how far the fantasy of brutal people can advance in order to dominate, torture and control those resembling themselves. Kristian Olsson has his fantasy and insight reach the apogee in the extremely grisly two discs of "Fentanyl Martyrs". Traditions of power electronics / postmortem prevail in the records of Survival Unit. It contains a number of authentic radio conversations from battlefields; grimy, rule-defying, brutal and poor quality noise and, of course, black humour. Presented on 2 golden CDs (not CDRs) in a 6-panel digipak with 20-page booklet. The set is housed in a special embossed golden slip box and sealed inside a stickered ziplock bag.

NORDVARGR - 'Pyrrhula' LP / T-SHIRT (CSR98LP/TS) £18/£14
OUT 7th MAY
 |
We are proud to announce a special vinyl edition of the Black Ambient masterpiece from Nordvargr (MZ.412). "Pyrrhula", is one of our most requested albums, and was originally released on CD by Cold Spring in 2008. This 2021 edition has been restored from the original masters, and further refined for the vinyl format.
Partly based on an old Swedish folktale, Pyrrhula ("doomlord") is a pitch black journey into utter darkness. This is a tale of foreboding doom... a portent of dark times to come... a blight on the face of this earth. These eight Black Ambient / Doom / Droneworks were brought forth from the abyss of Villa Bohult exclusively for Cold Spring and contain the malevolent vocals of Lord Nordvargr himself!.
"Beware the small creatures of light, they only bring misery and death upon the enlightened ones. For they will paint their breast with blood and reap your unborn angels".
Ltd x 500 copies on pale amber vinyl.
Black Fruit Of The Loom Heavy Cotton t-shirt with front and back print.
Comes with exclusive artcard when bought directly from us.
"If 'Pyrrhula' was colour it would be vantablack... It's an album that feels like it sucks the air out of the room. It makes you sit still and take notice, but most importantly, it still sounds as epic and devastating as it did 13 years ago" (Vital Weekly) |

CONTROLLED DEATH (MASONNA) / MAYUKO HINO - 'Split' Picture Disc LP (CSR291P) £20
OUT NOW!
 |
Two giants of the Japanese Noise scene present exclusive material on a special limited vinyl release.
Controlled Death is the nom de plume of Maso Yamazaki (MASONNA), who unleashed his claustrophobic Death Industrial / Blackened Electronics debut for Cold Spring last autumn (the sold out split LP with Rudolf Eb.er). "Devil's Sacrifice" (in 6 parts) continues Maso's obsession with heavy, Korg MS-20 drones. Deranged vocals choked under impenetrable, blood-soaked atmospheres of doom, death and decay, saturated with washes of anxiety, paranoia and alienation.
Mayuko Hino, 'Queen Of Japanese Noise', delivers two lengthy tracks. While the first track is filled with feverish, dense noise and swathes of savage electronics, the second, mind-melting electronic piece (reminiscent of her debut album 'Lunisolar' for Cold Spring) descends into a diseased, suffocating maelstrom, finishing on the verge of psychosis. In addition to self-made instruments, Mayuko plays noise with her six-theremin oscillators (in bright pink) - the one and only in the world, specially made by Ryo Araishi (a.k.a. ichion). Mayuko is most well-known for forming C.C.C.C. (Cosmic Coincidence Control Center) in 1990, together with Hiroshi Hasegawa, Fumio Kosakai and Ryuichi Nagakubo.
Picture disc LP. Ltd x 400 copies in a heavy PVC archive sleeve. |

HIMUKALT - 'Knife Through The Spine' CD (CSR289CD) £11
OUT NOW!
 |
Primitive, old school industrial, with an obsessive, post-mortem feel. This is the first CD edition of Himukalt's cult 2018 LP (originally released on Malignant Records), remastered and including bonus material from the same recording sessions.
"There's something uniquely old school and primitive at work here, capturing the claustrophobic, unsettled and fragmented sound of early Illusion of Safety or mid-late '80s industrial on a whole, contemporising it, and filling it in with an obsessive, post-mortem feel. Knife Through The Spine delivers a steady cascade of abstract sounds, festering with grinding pneumatic throb, coarse frequency blasts and sputtering electronic oscillations, with spliced snippets of processed, flanged vocals and a general sense of social anxiety and disaffection. A unique and challenging take on heavy electronics for fans of Puce Mary, She Spread Sorrow, Atrax Morgue".

FM EINHEIT (Einstürzende Neubauten) - 'Exhibition Of A Dream' 2 x CD (CSR292CD) £15
OUT NOW!
 |
Twelve dreams of musicians, artists, and filmmakers, interpreted by FM Einheit (ex-EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN), with voices by: Lee Ranaldo (SONIC YOUTH), Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (PSYCHIC TV / THROBBING GRISTLE), Susan Stenger (BAND OF SUSANS), Émilie Pitoiset, Erika Stucky, and the Gulbenkian Choir; with guest musicians: Volker Kamp, Saskia von Klitzing, Robert Poss, and Susan Stenger.
Exhibition Of A Dream (L'exposition D'un Rêve) is formed of twelve dreams interpreted as songs. Exploded in time, these are played as temporary and evolving patterns of shapes and forms in an otherwise empty gallery following the drawings of mandalas. Exhibition Of A Dream highlights the complex beauty of how to generate a dream in the mind of the spectator. A shared experience to be lived within our own personal inner space, these remastered dreams are an invitation to listen to a sensitive architecture of words and music.
Created 2017, recorded both in public and in private in the amphitheatres and the garden of the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon, and in Einheit's own studio Steinschlag. The dreamers were: Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Lee Ranaldo, Émilie Pitoiset, Susan Stenger, Susie Green, David Link, Pierre Paulin, Alexandre Estrela, Tim Etchells, Gabriel Abrantes, FM Einheit, and Genesis Breyer P-Orridge.
Originally released as a 3LP set, and only ever available at the 2018 exhibition at the Foundation. Presented in a 6-panel matt-laminate double digipak. |

NYTT LAND - 'Fimbulvinter' CD (CSR234CD) £11
OUT NOW!
 |
Second edition of Nytt Land's 2017 album, which quickly sold out on first pressing.
Notably outstanding on the Russian scene and largely compared with the legendary Wardruna, NYTT LAND are unique in their devotion to ritual Northern music and tradition. Their approach, using genuine native hand-crafted instruments, and true Old Norse, help them to grasp the true spirit of ancient Northern music like no one in Eastern Europe has done before. Their music is mostly based on the sources from Poetic Edda, performed in original Old Islandic.
"Fimbulvinter" is enriched with instruments like bagpipes and trembita (Alpine horn), and throat singing skillfully used to illustrate the occurrence of the forces of chaos; chthonic monsters in the world of men and gods. Fear and powerlessness alongside belief in the coming revival, renewal. All Scandinavian mythology is permeated with fatalism, humbleness to fate. The same mood saturates "Fimbulvinter". The first part is dedicated to the creation of the world and people, embodying the warm seasons. The second half to winter, the death of all living things.

JAGATH - 'Devalaya' CD (CSR290CD) £11
OUT NOW!
 |
Jagath is a ritual/industrial ambient act from Perm, Russia.
We create our music at abandoned industrial locations - the bottom of a moist underground sewer shaft and inside huge hollow oil tanks - without using digital synthesis. We use simple, mostly hand-crafted instruments, found objects and our voices. We do this to share our vision of decaying post-industrial age, to unleash the spirit of deep beyond-world and unveil life in the abyss.
"Devalaya" ("Temple") was recorded in vast oil tanks from 2015 to 2018.

'I REMEMBER YOU' (ÓSKAR THÓR AXELSSON) Original Motion Picture Soundtrack CD (CSR287CD) £10.50
OUT NOW!
|
We are extremely proud to release the official soundtrack to the cult Icelandic horror film 'I REMEMBER YOU' (Is: "Ég man þig"). Heavy dark ambient / industrial / orchestral soundscapes composed by Frank Hall, with a beautiful, solemn, folkloristic finale featuring Icelandic choirs. A must for fans of Graeme Revell, Steven Price, Lustmord, MZ.412. Digipak.
The soundtrack was created at the old industrial area of Grandi in Reykjavík, at a studio due to be 'gentrified' and forcefully emptied of the artists. "I was alone in this large building in this deserted area, working late hours, making music for a horror movie. It was during winter... wind blowing, darkness. There were some tense moments...".
"As soon as I read the script I heard low brass in my head and that kind of stuck. We used a lot of brass instruments, filtered and processed throughout. I also ended up using a lot of bowed guitar, sometimes doubling the brass, sometimes more like a sound effect". Hall also used analogue synths on the special climactic track "Montage".
On the finale, Hall reminisces: "Móðir mín í kví kví (My Mother In The Sheep Pen) is an old Icelandic folk song. The lyrics are based on Icelandic folklore about a woman who had a baby which she couldn't afford to have and left it outside to die, wrapped in a rag. The infant then becomes what we Icelandic call "Útburður" - the ghost of a child who has been left out to die. Some time later the woman wants to go to a dance but has no pretty clothes to wear. She is in the sheep pen attending to the sheep when she hears this whispering outside: "My mother in the sheep pen, don't you worry because I'll lend you my rag, my rag to dance in". It's a rather ominous lyric and this song is sometimes sung for Icelandic babies as a lullaby... a little odd custom perhaps. I remember my mother singing this to me. This is one of my favourite Icelandic folk songs, and when I created the music for "I Remember You", which is about a lost child that haunts people, I suggested to director Óskar Thór Axelsson that I should make an Icelandic choir version of it and use it as a theme / credit song. He loved the idea".
'I Remember You' is based on the internationally acclaimed novel by Yrsa Sigurðardóttir, the "Queen of Icelandic Crime". |

WESTERN, CREED, SPYBEY
'W ands' CD (CSR280CD) £11
OUT NOW!
|
A posthumous collaboration between the late Phil Western (DOWNLOAD, BEEHATCH), Jesse Creed (THE PASSENGER) and Mark Spybey (DOWNLOAD, DEAD VOICES ON AIR, REFORMED FACTION, BEEHATCH). Both Phil and Jesse shared a love for vintage analogue synthesizers such as the VCS3, and the music for "W ands" was largely created using this equipment. In the spirit of how it was created, Spybey added improvised passages using his collection of homemade and ethnic instruments and then edited the pieces.
Phil would often talk about being 'taken away' by music. Both Jesse and Mark have laboured to do this through their own music too, not as a means of escape but to transcend. This music strives to explore the desire to go beyond the ordinary everyday experience and to reach a place where the egos and the individual contributions of the players are largely inconsequential. A place where time doesn't really matter. A place of healing and invention.
An album of expansive drones and analogue electronics, which will undofubtedly appeal to fans of Coil, Nurse With Wound, Zoviet France. Digipak.

LLYN Y CWN 'Dinorwic' CD (CSR286CD) £11
OUT NOW!
|
Llyn Y Cwn conveys atmosphere and environment through deep ambient sounds. The sound of nature re-establishing itself in the post-industrial wilderness of a former quarry. A phantasm of echoes reflecting the bleak majesty and poetic melancholy of the hinterland of North Wales. A hole within a void, a place defined by absence in a world of negative space.
The backdrop for this cavernous soundtrack is Dinorwic slate quarry. The field recordings were taken in this vast subterranean environment where an exposed scar of rock is carved out of the mountainside on the western slope of Elidir Fawr in Snowdonia, North Wales.
Standing alone in the quarry, which covers 700 acres up to a height of 600m, it isn't difficult to imagine work going on around you with the abandoned industrial landscape juxtaposed against the backdrop of the majestic Snowdonia skyline.
Each track is named after an area of the quarry, descending ever deeper through each rock gallery, with their acoustically unique echoes and sounds. The landscape is in a state of constant flux with small avalanches of rock and spoil slate tumbling over itself - it was such a landslide that led to the eventual demise of the quarry. The hydroelectric power station, built deep underground inside the mountain, can be heard rumbling away through the various air shafts dotted around the quarry, adding to the overall ominous feel of the pieces.
File next to fellow Welshman Lustmord.
Presented in a 6-panel digipak with breathtaking photography by the artist. |

LA BREICHE 'Le Rite' CD (CSR280CD) £11
OUT NOW!
|
LA BREICHE ("the witch") features YAN AREXIS (Stille Volk / Sus Scrofa / Common Eider, King Eider / Coume Ouarnède), and PATRICK LAFFORGUE (Stille Volk / Sus Scrofa / Hantaoma). The two musicians are also the creators of the cult festival L'Homme Sauvage, held in Midi-Pyrenees each year.
After their 2017 debut "Le Mal des Ardents" (Cold Spring), "Le Rite" opens a new door, with post-folk sounds close to post-rock, influenced by ancient music, with folk used in a modernist way. Dark, ambient and yet mystical... deep with grandiose landscapes.
The sound of La Breiche is situated at the crossroads of early music and dark ambient; ambient music, industrial music with a strong ritual dimension. Their electro-acoustic is music based on old instruments such as the hurdy-gurdy, mixed with analogue synths, field recordings, and ritual objects, taking a mystified look at nature, archaic societies, rites, beliefs and lores, animism.
Presented in a stunning 6-panel digipak with artwork by Dehn Sora.
