RALF WEHOWSKY - 'Agnostic Diaries' CD (Black Rose Recordings / Dirter) - £11

Recordings from RLW projects that were never fully realised - including tracks with Anla Courtis (Reynols / Origami Republika), Marc Baron, and Dylan Nyoukis (Chocolate Monk / Blood Stereo / Prick Decay) - turning refined conceptions against themselves and destroying them entirely. Agnosticism was the basic idea for the vocal/musical reworking of these pieces (2016-17), with the vocals implanted into the basic pieces; not just as simple overdubs, but inserted in a dialectical confrontation with the basic sounds and structures. Ralf Wehowsky is one of the most respected electronic composers of our day and was also a founder member of the seminal German group P16.D4 and label Selektion whose ground-breaking releases influenced many working in today's experimental music scene. Neither industrial, nor musique concrete, nor computer music, nor improvisation, his music could in fact be all of these. Presented in a mini-LP sleeve with cover art by Steve Pittis (Band Of Pain).

ROME is back with a surprising new album bursting with anthems; a tongue-in-cheek, punk rock cry for freedom of expression! It seems that Jerome Reuter, a tenebrous magus, whose forefathers fought Franco's troops in Spain and later the Nazis in Luxembourg, won't stand aside while watching democracy and its freedom trampled underfoot by the most privileged, uprooted, and bourgeois of generations this continent has ever seen. Our nations are fragile beings, seemingly under threat from various sides and the all-encompassing disassemblage starting with language which is again struggling in the grips of totalitarian thought. Infectious 'neofolk n pop' songs with bleak lyrics, tongue-in-cheek stadium-rock anthems, ragged-lunged hymns, potent ballads, and melancholic laments... On "Parlez-Vous Hate?", Reuter's much-discussed genius lies in finding the humanity and tragedy in the everyday, and punching it out with a grizzled kind of grandeur. A barn-burning, bomb-dropping, ceiling-cracking, ozone-splitting all-out-attack on what one would have expected from ROME after last year's thought-provoking "The Lone Furrow". TRAJEDESALIVA - 'Ultratumba' CD (Gradual Hate Records / áMARXE / Ferror Records) - £11.50

Full of sadness, acceptance and hope, "Ultratumba" digs into the origin of melancholy. Galician duo Trajedesaliva (Mon Ningué & Una Vena) return with an album full of passion, anguish, bitterness and melancholia. Guided by naked emotions, this is a singular work, an architectural wonder of pure analogue electronic sound, with splendorous timbres that tend to the dark but also to the emotionally devastating. Very moving and demanding music, where the boundaries between dark ambient, synth prog, spoken word and industrial noise meet. Recorded using only analogue synthesizers and voice - no sequencers or programming, it's a piece of pure handcrafted electronica drawing on dark landscapes. With the different layers of sound constantly fighting among themselves to stay centre stage, it evokes the sounds of drone and industrial music, but from a very personal perspective, displaying a musicality that transcends those genres. The Darkwave gods are on our side: After the surprising and enthralling return with their triumphant comeback "Another Winter" in early 2019, Collection D'Arnell-Andrea are already back with "A Recrafted Winter". The album sees France's pioneers of all sounds dark and melancholic create a wholly remastered, remixed and electrified sister record to this soulful piece of art by the hand of Piers Volta (Near Death Experience, Objectile). Winter's overture is here. Elegiac yet powerful Darkwave, enmeshed in neoclassical drama and electronic finesse: the symphonic or convulsive strings respond vigorously to the tenacious melancholy of a nostalgic piano; they let themselves be carried away in the electro turmoil of aerial or noisy guitars, arpeggio synths and minimalist rhythmic loops - this is far beyond rendering some songs dancefloor-compatible. Instead, those precious pieces of music have been dissected quite carefully and transferred onto an altogether new level of meaning.

These songs show the development of the neoclassical structures that were first explored on the album "Beauty Reaps The Blood Of Solitude". This beautifully recorded and composed record demonstrates the melodic strength and compositional force of this extraordinarily unique and underrated album. NATURE AND ORGANISATION - 'Snow Leopard Messiah' 2 x CD (Trisol) - £16.50

"Snow Leopard Messiah" sees the long awaited reissue of two influential albums from Nature And Organisation (aka Michael Cashmore of CURRENT 93): "Beauty Reaps The Blood Of Solitude" and "Death In A Snow Leopard Winter". A mix of acoustic instruments, surreal sound collages, cut-up super 8mm film and tape loops creating a sound that would later be regarded as influential in the genre of post-industrial music. "Beauty Reaps The Blood Of Solitude" was first released in 1994 and includes collaborations with David Tibet (CURRENT 93), Douglas P. (DEATH IN JUNE), Rose McDowall (STRAWBERRY SWITCHBLADE) and Steven Stapleton (NURSE WITH WOUND). With its mix of classical, acoustic and industrial elements, it is now regarded as one of the most influential and seminal albums in the post-industrial / neofolk genres. "Death In A Snow Leopard Winter" was first released in 1998 and serves as an incisive and beautiful testament to the group's direction at this time. Remastered by Andrew Liles (Nurse With Wound, Current 93), with two bonus tracks. Presented in an 8-panel foil-embossed double digipak with booklet containing lyrics and photos, with new artwork by Cashmore.

NATURE AND ORGANISATION - 'Universal Death Stream' LP & DVD - *SIGNED* (Trisol) - £25

An extremely rare live recording by legendary Industrial / experimental / dark folk project Nature And Organisation (aka Michael Cashmore of Current 93), previously only available on an impossible to find cassette, now presented on vinyl for the first time and edited especially for this reissue. This sees the band at their most volatile, raw state, using harsh sounds and screaming vocals contrasted by quieter sequences that show the early form of this band that later grew to be so influential. The DVD consists of an unseen short film made by the band in 1985 with a brand new soundtrack especially recorded for the film in 2016 (the first new recording by Nature And Organisation in almost 20 years). The original 1985 film has been re-edited by Davidé Pepe especially for this release. This is an essential release of this lost documentation of the early influential sound of Nature And Organisation, topped by a DVD that many thought would never even be imaginable. Mastered specially for vinyl by Bricoleur (Current 93). Ltd x 500 copies on 180gr purple vinyl with printed inner sleeve, SIGNED BY MICHAEL CASHMORE. DVD presented in sturdy card sleeve.

ROME - 'Confessions D'Un Voleur D'Ames' CD (Trisol) - £11.50

Reissue of Rome's second album, originally released by Cold Meat Industry in 2007. "Confessions D'Un Voleur D'Ames" is a call from a world where love and despair are locked in an embrace; it is a black craving in the fangs of war and the joys of stealth in a riot of blossoms. This second album is calmer and more personal than the debut "Nera"; the confessions are often dark and poetic, sometimes brutal, but most of all intimate. It has traces of all types of obscure music genres: ambient, neoclassical, dark wave, apocalyptic folk, and martial industrial. Rome couldn't care less about genre boundaries. The tone is less militant, the main themes being treachery, sacrifice, temperance, and composure. With a distinctive slice of suicide pop fiddled into their exquisitely dark sound, Rome has established itself as one of the liveliest and most interesting experimental folk acts around. ROME - 'Flowers From Exile' CD (Trisol) - £11.50

"Flowers from Exile" is one of the best selling albums from the Luxembourg dark folk / neofolk act. ROME's universe is expanded by proud resignation and sweet melancholy. Similar to the early albums of Leonard Cohen (with a nod to Waits and Cash), stories from the (inner) exile are told here with fatalistic gestures and a dark timbre; of the longing for a lost homeland, of loneliness and eternal travels, but also of unexpected friends far away and the actual home - land in your own heart. Highly detailed arrangements use the sound of the flamenco guitar as well as mysterious samples, pulsating beats and sad melodies. In ROME's songs there lives a stoic sense of the melodramatic; the personally stamped album of a modern singer-songwriter which tells of journeys both within and without. Jerome Reuter's moving vocals and Patrick Damiani's complex musical arrangements leave the musical roots of folk far behind and send these 'flowers from exile' to all listeners who are willing and capable of feeling the dignity, hope and pride behind the lyrics and who are prepared to recognise themselves in those restless spirits whom the twelve part song cycle conjures up. Reissue of Rome's third album, originally released by Cold Meat Industry in 2008. After two successful albums, "Nera" and "Confessions D'Un Voleur D'Ames", Rome blessed the world with its 12-track knock-out "Masse Mensch Material", which holds more than one musical surprise! Rome s particular brand of post-industrial folk, combined with new-wave songwriting and neoclassical arrangements, takes on a new and 'pop' twist. But these outstanding songs have too much depth to be dismissed as mere pop music. This album has a more subtle darkness, and is one of Rome s best works to date. A work of art of extreme sincerity, "Masse Mensch Material" revolves around the themes of love, faith, and endurance.
