AJNA & ONASANDER - 'Canidia' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50

New York's Ajna & Italy's Onasander join forces to create a dark and brooding soundtrack to one of the most highly attested witches in Latin Literature: Canidia. Canidia is considered Rome's first witch and had perpetrated acts of grave desecration, kidnapping, murder, black magic, and poisoning to name but a few. She is most known for being mentioned in the poems of Horace, where she has a prominent role of a demon-like figure. There is much mystery and speculation as to whether Canidia may be a myth or an actual historical figure. These tracks evoke the heinous deeds of Canidia the Witch, propelling the listener into her ancient world of nightmarish deeds and mystery. "Canidia is a haunting and cinematic excursion... the listener is taken into a soundscape in which dark winds from unknown sources blow debris through a windswept village at night... claustrophobic and tense throughout. ASHTRAY NAVIGATIONS - 'Cabin Exterior' CD (Cheeses International) - £10.50

New recordings from Yorkshire's Ashtray Navigations (Phil Todd) in a more abstract style than his usual fayre of late. 6 tracks of off-kilter psychedelia interlaced with a broad spectrum of sounds and atmospheres. "So 90's it's light years ahead of the game. A largely rockless voyage into electroacoustic juxtapositions, feeled recordings and trippy noises, that kind of thing. AUBE - 'Hydrophobia 1993' SINGLE-SIDED LP Blue (Cheeses International) - £19

Fully authorised release of an unreleased and extended mix of the very first cassette by the late Akifumi Nakajima aka AUBE on Vanilla, composed in 1993 using "water sound only". This was originally planned to be released on CD with the original Hydrophobia recordings in 2002 but this never happened. It has now been re-mastered by Phil Julian with covers designed by Abby Helasdottir (Gydja) based on artwork supplied by Akifumi Nakajima. Ltd x 319 copies on blue vinyl.

KRAFTWERK - 'Spring 1975' LP (Radio Loop Loop) - £22

The first side of this essential live document features three tracks (Tanzmusik, Kometenmelodie, Klingklang) from Ebbets Field, Denver, Colorado during Kraftwerk's first tour of America in spring 1975. The second side is occupied by a 26-minute version of their first robotic big hit Autobahn, recorded at Satory Saal, Köln in March of the same year. Another great document from the groundbreaking electronic pioneers.

NEZNAMO - 'Molva' CD (Muzyka Voln) - £11.50

Neznamo is Moscow-based ritual dark ambient musician Dmitry Shilov. This material was collected during 2012-2019 from various studio sessions and live recordings. Unlike the previous album "Aiwyâstô" (2015), which consisted of viscous thick drone music, "Molva" makes one remember the archaic and ritual roots of early Neznamo works. Like the concept of that previous album, "Molva" consists of three sonic canvases, woven from lingering drones, rustles, resonances and cryptic spells, interlaced into a single sonic ritual. PAIN INJECTION - 'Deadlife' CD (Frozen Light) - £11.50

Debut album by Italian act Pain Injection, the DSBM Dark Ambient band formed by members of Zoloft Evra, Sacrimoon, Lifeless, Nocturnal Degrade, and Catalepsia. Special guest: Tenebra (Dreariness). "Deadlife" brings a strong mixture of Dark Ambient, Industrial and Black Metal, with deep sadness and razored emotions, Beauty and Emptiness. Death for Life and Life for Death. PHANTOMS & MIRAGES - 'Thermal Anomaly' CD (Frozen Light) - £12

The debut album by Phantoms & Mirages. Warm and ghostly Dark Ambient with calm noises and drifting minimal melodies, field recordings and strange samples. A soundtrack to our post-industrial (or even post-apocalyptic) present. "... the distorted processing of field recordings worked quite well in terms of the apocalyptic soundtrack, the final destruction of machine city if you will and the sound sources here are part of leaky gas installations, exploding oil pipelines or whatever post-industrial metaphor you choose. There is still quite some sonic depth in these tales of nightmares re-lived and this is something to play at full volume that gave the music more sense. The noisy end of ambient..." (Vital Weekly). PUISSANCE - 'War On' CD (SkullLine) - £14

Puissance is the legendary martial industrial project of H. Möller (Arditi / Leidungr) and Fredrik Söderlund. "War On" was originally released in 1999 on the cult Polish label Fluttering Dragon. It not only includes some excellent live versions of Puissance's best tracks, but this edition also comes with two exclusive and previously-unreleased bonus tracks. Stylistically, Puissance moves between minimalist, martial industrial sounds and sacral-like sounds with what can almost be described as shy, soft spoken vocals. Lyrically, Puissance is under the guiding star of a fundamental misanthropy - from the violent subjugation of humanity to its complete extinction through a campaign of annihilation out of boredom, nuclear weapons, or the evolutionary drive towards self-extinction. S.O.A.H. - 'Codex Tagirioni' CD (Evil Dead Productions) - £11

A shamanic ritual, cosmic black, bewitching and smoking with darkness. "Codex Tagirioni" is comprised of seven expansive dark ambient / spoken word canvases floating into each other and narrating a story of the alchemy of internal formation. "The metaphysics of death and the transition through the Gates of Abyss to the Other Side. The night side of the World Tree. The unity of fire burning in the heart of a man and in the core of a star; each grain of the fields contains the sleeping spirit of this flame. The Non-Being as the mother's womb of the Being... Word, Voice and Music: a bitter potion, tart wine and sweet poison, turned into a witch's hebenon. An elixir of moon blood and spices of the Forbidden Lands. An elixir of Hypnos, sending to the Other Side. In the center of the eternal Force, which was before the Existence and will remain after the Existence collapses it will flare up like a cinema film and sink into the Great Dissolution...". Digipak.

SAL SOLARIS - 'Cherez Polus?? (Through The Pole??)' CD (KultFront) - £11.50

Dark techno / dark ambient / post-industrial from Russia's Sal Solaris, containing compositions from three digital EPs released 2015-2018 on NEN Records, plus bonus tracks from the 2018 split cassette of Sal Solaris and Zero View. Like frost, fixating and killing everything that consists of water, "Through the Pole??" freezes into a crystal something that never appeared as a single piece of matter. A retrospective of several years of living, shown in an order devoid of linear logic. Like a dream, devoid of beginning and end. A dream to wake up from? Glossy 6-panel digipak decorated with chains of neural connections.

STRUP Vs DN23RD - '24d19' CD (Zhelezobeton) - £11

Noises of radio ether and mysterious signals are framed by industrial field recordings and utterly abstract inhuman playing on acoustic instruments. A meditative sound collage, under the quasi-static form of which one finds a layered abyss full of micro-dynamic processes. A zen garden assembled from burnt rubber and metal junk. Two long lullabies (over 61 mins) from the factory radio room by Strup (Belarus) and DN23RD (Russia). Ltd x 60 copies (CD proper) in a sealed card sleeve.

VÆV - 'Drømmenes Spejl' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50

The debut album from Væv ("web" in Danish), explores the interconnectedness in our lives, perhaps chief among them the connection between our day to day reality and our spiritual development. These threads were woven before we entered this world; they are our world. "Drømmenes Spejl" is a rich contrast of dark ambience, sombre melodies, dark jazz, and minimalistic drones. "Drømmenes Spejl was produced during a very turbulent time in my life. It reflects my personal journey through a depression which culminated in my family falling apart. But crisis is the mother of change. From the ashes of the World Tree, new seeds can grow. I found comfort in these pieces, and it is my hope that they may bring comfort to other suffering souls who find them. ANTHESTERIA - 'Eis' CD (KultFront) - £11

This collection includes compositions created 2003-2010; compilations tracks, digital only tracks, and some previously unreleased tracks. Dark ambient / modern classical compositions are woven into a single semantic stream showing the cardiogram of the author's experiences. Since 2010 the project has been de facto "frozen" except for work on the track "Alone" for which Sergey Vasilyev read the poem by Edgar Allan Poe in 2016. Anthesteria is music of St. Petersburg - the dusky city standing on water and wind where most of the year one has to know how to keep warm. The theme of Winter is heard in every composition of the album in one way or another. However Winter here is not only a sign of desolation and death. Rays of the frozen sun find a direct way to the eyes of the listener and the feeling of the fresh breeze from the Gulf of Finland. Ltd x 345 copies in a digisleeve.

ARDITI - 'Bloodtheism' CD (SkullLine) - £13

True to their path, martial industrial heroes Arditi (aka Henry Möller of Puissance / Leidungr / Níundi, and Marten Björkman of Algaion) return with "Bloodtheism". Originally released in 2018 as a digital Bandcamp release only, the album is now presented remastered and fleshed out with two exclusive bonus tracks. Orchestrally, the Swedish duo partly emphasises the industrial dark ambient side of their music, with the extensive use of loops and recurring themes adding a semi-obsessed tone to the classic-militaristic sound sculptures. BARDOSENETICCUBE & SHINKIRO - 'Inner And Outer Space' CD (Zhelezobeton) - £11

Collaborative album from Bardoseneticcube (Russia) and Shinkiro (Japan). A meditative and contemplative theme, focused on aspects of inner and outer space. We submerge in the dark thick matter of sound, fluid, transparent and stratiform. Woven from abstract electronics, omnifarious samples and transformed voices, textures are smoothly interchanging, always showing new visions in the black mirror of our viewport. Does the perceivable exist separately from the percipient? In any case this is dark, nocturnal, cosmic music, not devoid of epicism and dramatism. Ltd x 333 copies in a digisleeve.

KRYPTOGEN RUNDFUNK - 'Elusive Trajectories 2003-2006' CD (KultFront) - £11

The fourth installment of the "Znaki / Die Zeichen" archive series from St. Petersburg-based noise project Kryptogen Rundfunk, recorded 2003-2006. Most of the tracks were released on small-edition compilations, but some have remained unpublished until now. This album offers a fresh look at the early period of Kryptogen Rundfunk's sound in all its diversity. Sharp injections of digital glitches are polished by dense electronic drone and radio noises, raw sound of Soviet analogue synthesizers pervades the space with low-frequency vibrations, drum machines rumble in a slow industrial dance with a sampler used instead of a vocalist. Each composition here is a separate short story, from a 12-minute immersion into the depths of radio waves on a psychedelic submarine to a 1-second collage made of several found sounds. LEIDUNGR (ARDITI) - 'Gryning Flammar' CD (SkullLine) - £13

Leidungr is the Nordic Ritual Folk project of H. Möller (Arditi / Puissance) and P. Ståhl. Crafted by weaving ritual elements into traditional folk, Leidungr's mesmerizing work is also imbued with an indelible martial aura which reinforces the underlying heroic mood summoned on these recordings. The potent and evocative combination, which spreads across various genres, often re-creating their common formats, allows Leidungr to carve their unique brand of Nordic Ritual Folk - a term which perfectly defines the genuine atmosphere of this work, now finally available. LUNAR ABYSS DEUS ORGANUM - 'Khara-Khoto' CD (Zhelezobeton) - £11

The first new studio album from this project since 2012's "Atimudra". Khara-Khoto was the name of a Tangut city with Buddhist culture which existed in the XI-XIV centuries before it was captured by the troops of the Chinese Ming dynasty (now located in Inner Mongolia). The idea of creating this album appeared after visiting a special exhibition of original artifacts from this ancient settlement buried in the sands. From a musical point of view, one can hear the full sound palette typical for Lunar Abyss. This includes multilayered ambiental sketches with flowing chains of samples, voice loops and acoustic instruments; rhythmic percussive tracks with vigorous pulsating energy; abstract collages made of analogue electronics, radio noises and fragments of television programs; semi-static enveloping drones spiced up with field recordings. LUNAR ABYSS DEUS ORGANUM - 'O.D.A.L.' CD (BioSonar) - £12

A landmark album by L.A.D.O. - a mystical machine manipulation of aspects of time and concepts of sound in time. Shamanic drone ambient with an abundance of layers of all kinds of origin, multi-dimensional worlds of consonances and acoustic phenomena. If you're familiar with the project, you'll recognise the typical timbres and vibrations, but you'll also feel their other, secret aspects. If you're just getting to know L.A.D.O., the album will be a splendid illustration of their creative direction. A simple yet effective method of transforming the sonic flow is reflected in the album's title "O.D.A.L." and in the titles of the tracks. Perfectly fits for psychedelic tea parties and drowsy journeys in the depths of the cell memory riding the mitochondria. The excellent 2011 album from Saint Petersburg's preeminent sorcerer is a long 42 min piece that seamlessly binds 3 live recordings into a kaleidoscopic trek through untamed forests teeming with animal life and archaic spirits. Where dark ambient projects often confine themselves to a monochromatic range, Lunar Abyss Deus Organum introduce more colours than the eyes can perceive. An incredible hallucinogenic sound that breathes and whispers, a dark mire of atmospheres. An incredibly deep multi-layered Drone Ambient album featuring Kshatriy. MIRA DREVO - 'Dreams Of Abandoned Villages' CD (Electrotapes Archive) - £12

This album of the St. Petersburg folk ambient project Mira Drevo is dedicated to the numerous abandoned villages of the Russian North. The idea of this work came to the author during ethnographic trips inspired by an interest in Russian folklore and village culture. Many field recordings were collected: the stories of the elderly - about an uneasy life, war, beliefs and traditions; creaking floorboards of abandoned houses; rustling of spirits in the branches of dead apple trees; sounds of a cranberry swamp... Additional recordings were made on Solovki, on the Vottovaara mountain and in the Karelian woods. Some of the acoustic instruments were captured during these trips on a portable recorder and later woven into the fabric of minimalistic synthesizer ambient. A significant contribution to the sound of this album was made by the soulful vocals of Anastasiya Kharchenko who sang several folk songs and lyric poems. NEZNAMO - 'Aiwyâstô' CD (Muzyka Voln) - £11

Neznamo is Moscow-based ritual dark ambient musician Dmitry Shilov (Unknown). "Aiwyâstô" is Neznamo's first full-length album, consisting of one 42-minute long composition, recorded in a deep transcendental state. Covered in ornaments of unhasting vibrations, flickering and parallel sound layers, dense string drones permeate the entire track. This music is for lovers of deep inner self diving. Towards the depths of pitch-dark sound where one can see all forms dissolving in emptiness and being reborn by it again in an endless game of space and imagination. Ritual / dark ambient from Voronezh project ORD, presented in special wooden packaging. Spiritual sight as a gift was found, and the mind is enlightened by the light of revelation. A priceless glance of the divine grace, being released from hidden desires... Kamadarshana (Kama, Skt. "love", "sensual attraction", God

of love in Hinduism; Darshan, Skt. "contemplation") - can be translated as the Contemplation of the God of Love. Darshan is bilateral: the believer sees the object of worship, while the object sees the believer. The result of darshan is the blessing received from the vision of the divine. 3" CD packaged in a wooden structure, including folded paper insert, and a screen-printed bamboo mat featuring the art of Voronezh artist and tattooist Valeria Khanina. RAPOON - 'Wanderlust' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50

Robin Storey (Rapoon, ex-Zoviet France) has collaborated with many artists over the years and for this release additional vocals for the album have been supplied by the Russian folk singer Tatyana Stepchenko (TOLOKA). As the title indicates. 'Wanderlust' is the endless yearning, the search for questions and for answers, the horizon ever drawing onward with the lure of what lies beyond. The pull of the mountains and the deserts and the infinitive light of the stars, shining from the distant past. We travel... "Wanderlust is good for long autumn evenings as it recalls more colorful times, in a meteorological sense as well as in the sense of a moment when your life was most... lively so to speak... There's a whole lot of loops, drums and samples here, voices, radio transmissions, singing, classic instruments, electronic passages, sometimes ethereal, sometimes more down to earth... Wanderlust is like a movie from one's past... the images flowing in your mind like in a photo album" (Santa Sangre). 6-panel digipak with original paintings from Robin Storey. Ltd x 400 copies.

VETROPHONIA - 'Vizualizacija' DVD (Ultrasomnambula U) - £13

This DVD consists of several parts. First, a multimedia album created 2013-2016 with the help of Yuri Kovalskiy (Worms, Monument Straha). A carefully crafted 33-minute collage of various industrial and retro-futuristic sketches, analogue video-noises and meticulously constructed soundtrack, perfectly matching the visual part. The disc also contains the digital version of the live material "Turning Virgins Into Doves" originally released in 1996 on VHS, and the recording of a gig in Experimental Sound Gallery (ESG-21), St. Petersburg, 11.03.2013 to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of publication of the famous "L'arte dei Rumori" manifesto by Luigi Russolo. VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'The Owls Are Not What They Seem: David Lynch Tribute Remixes' 2 x CD (KultFront) - £13

This is the continuation of the project "Now It's Dark: David Lynch Tribute" dedicated to the work of the filmmaker and musician David Lynch. This double-CD is a collection of remixes of original compositions included in that first album. The new remixed versions were created by the musicians from different directions in the Russian dark scene: ambient, noise, experimentalism, rhythmic dark techno and post-industrial.
