"Brahmastrika was conceived through revelations on the ancient shamshan grounds of Kalikshetra, adi-karmic yantraniti was bestowed on our vessels of flesh to reveal the secrets of the sanatana yudhakarma, through nuclear metal of ultimate death, that has led to Excarnastrial Commencination. Cosmic entrapments of Adi-kalpic proportions have been initiated. Paramanobik annihilation rituals are sharpened though bijamantras. By now India, and in particular Kolkata, is the source of some of the most unworldly combination of sunken magic, ancient knowledge, and bloodsoaked rituals imaginable. Kolkatian Black Metal / War Noisers Kapala team up with German Power Electronics act Chaos Cascade for a cooperation to leave this world behind in ruins and ashes. DIE WEISSE ROSE - 'White Roses In Bloom In Kyiv' CD (Old Captain) - £12

'Black & White' reissue of this brilliant live CD from Denmark's Die Weisse Rose, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2021. As part of their 2015 tour, Die Weisse Rose performed a memorable ritual in Kyiv with an impressive line-up of founder Thomas Bøjden, Kim Larsen (Of The Wand & The Moon) and Gary Carey (Joy Of Life). DWR's martial industrial / neoclassical tracks from their debut album were executed with a puissant vigour and true honour, while the final part interpreted a Ukrainian folk melody that became a lament song during Ukrainian Revolution of 2013-2014. "White Roses In Bloom" gives a perfect chance to listen to the project live when it is at its most potent and emotional artistic edge. Ltd x 200 copies in a digipak.

EDWARD ARTEMIEV - 'Solaris: Sound And Vision (The Film Album)' O.S.T. LP + CD + Book Boxset (Song Cycle Records) - £95

A truly stunning new deluxe collector's edition boxset of the soundtrack to Andrey Tarkovsky's masterpiece Solaris (1972), realised by the great Russian composer Edward Artemiev. The collaboration between the two Russians started in conjunction with the completion of Solaris when the director was seeking a film score capable of completing the meaningful images of the film. Artemiev was a member of the legendary Experimental Studio of Electronic Music in Moscow, a place of high experimentation in the field of the electronic music, and where the legendary ANS synthesizer was conceived (used here to create the special sound atmosphere that Tarkovsky was looking for). The musician is seen as a sound organiser, more than a composer, giving form to a soundscape intertwined completely with the film in its unfolding: always essential and never to be experienced as an accessory element. Made in collaboration with the Andrey Tarkovsky Institute, "Solaris. Sound And Vision" is a compelling deep dive into the Tarkovsky's realm.

Ltd x 500 copies. The hardboard slipbox includes the soundtrack in two formats: LP on 180gm high-quality virgin vinyl and, for the first time, on CD. The release is also accompanied by an exclusive 12" clothbound hard cover photo book, embellished with gold foilblock lettering, and with protective dust jacket. It features unreleased images of the film set and essays about music and cinema of the duo Artemiev / Tarkovsky.

The highly anticipated second EP from the Indian "War Noise" Black Metallers. With "Termination Apex", Kapala eclipse their debut with an even more savage and challenging onslaught that spans a densely uncompromising 26 minutes. "Termination Apex" displays the power-trio more as a three-man war machine. The most striking difference between their first two efforts is that Kapala here take a decisive detour from their influences and blast deeply into and below the most fetid depths of old-school grindcore, noisecore, and even gabber-leaning goregrind. Each instrument is seemingly mangled beyond recognition, stripped of humanity and anything resembling "normality", giving rise to a perversely avant-garde element. The hard-working maniac from the the Eastern slums has created his very own brand of vile and hyper-aggressive blend of Power Electronics violence and Harsh Noise chaos. Piercing feedback, deranged vocals, punishing metal junk. An atmosphere of total hatred, nihilism and scummy surroundings. Utmost fetishism and perversion expressed as Power Electronics with a beautiful Harsh Noise twist to it. RELAY FOR DEATH / JASON CRUMER - 'Channel Gutter' CD (Total Black) - £11.50

"Channel Gutter" is a split affair between autonomous American noisers Relay For Death and Jason Crumer. Relay For Death open with a barrage of sound, and over the six movements contained in the 25+ minute piece, Roxann and Rachal Spikula weave between noise, musique-concrète, dark ambient, and industrial, while maintaining an intangible and stoic nature. "Pauperized Monolith" is a nearly 37-minute deep arrangement from Jason Crumer. Featuring harsh noise extractions from the classic early 2000s "Ruth" sessions, the second half of the split is pensive, occasionally veering into the realm of ambient. Absolute highest recommendation. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak.

SA BRUXA - 'Gnosis' CD (Dunkelheit Produktionen) - £11.50

Meaning "The Witch" in the Sardinian language, Sa Bruxa is the haunted solitary vision of Giuseppe Novella. With his second full length "Gnosis", the Berlin-based project explores the topic of spiritual evolution - from the degradation of the matter and flesh to a higher and subtle spiritual sublimation. The title comes from the main focus of knowing what is on the opposite side of the matter - which is basically the knowledge of death, achieved through contemplation and spiritual topics, mainly dealing with the Easter tradition. Alternating dark ambient soundscapes, gloomy melodies, field recordings and sample manipulation, together with more abrasive death industrial moments, "Gnosis" weaves an esoteric trip through the mortal pain to achieve spiritual evolution. Articulated in nine tracks (65 mins), the result is a trip where the borders of outer and inner dimensions fade away, mystic places soaked in magic merge with an inner meditative trip through suffering and contemplation, to eventually achieve the liberation through dissolution and the eternal return. Digipak.

SCATMOTHER - 'Sadotantra' CD (Dunkelheit Produktionen) - £11.50

Following on from the mid-paced Power Electronics featured on their split with Chaos Cascade, "Sadotantra" offers the more violent and aggressive side of Scatmother - yet dark as always. The music has evolved but hasn't lost any of its violent intensity. Sharp in sound as "Beyond" from Hijokaidan, one can also find brutality similar to Masonna or Grunt and above all a sound of its own identity. There are subtle textures, rich in detail - the album will blossom best if you raise the volume until it hurts. The track "Brahma-Shakti" in particular is a landmark and explains well what the album is about - ideas. The result is like an attack with a drill towards your head giving you just shy of 40 minutes of discomfort.

SCATMOTHER - 'Vivikta' CD (Dunkelheit Produktionen) - £11.50

Scatmother is a name that will finally establish a mark in the history of German Noise & Power Electronics, being carved in the memory and mind of the morbid, a step further, even deeper. "Vivikta" follows the footprints left by "Sadotantra", with its distinct blend of old school Power Electronics and heavy Industrial virtues. Maybe less harsh and piercing than previous outputs but definitely more brutal, heavy, structured and aggressive. The track 'Insekten aus Glas und Metall', for instance, sounds as if one person is vandalizing an entire room until nothing but dust remains. Penetration of the buttons from lower, more mid paced, disturbing levels up to the maximum and full force assault on the audial senses. Lyrically it focuses on a blend of Eastern Spirituality and deep ecology, and its concept is hostile and antagonistic towards humanity, praising the detachment of mundane life, an elitist and outcast lifestyle. After a string of strong cassettes and CDs over the last 4 years, "Rites Of Flesh" is the debut full-length album from American Heavy Electronics stalwarts Serration. In contrast to the raw aggression of earlier works, "Rites Of Flesh" is a tense and crawling soundtrack to urban warfare and unrest. While invoking comparisons to classic European industrial like Anenzephalia and early Loki Foundation acts, "Rites Of Flesh" has an entirely unique and contemporary sound. SION ORGON - 'Dust' LP (Lumberton Trading Company) - £18

Sion Orgon crafts music that fuses abstract electronic music with the kind of bright melodies one would expect from a shiny pop group. Using avant-garde sensibilities and a vision partly shaped by his affiliation with both Thighpaulsandra and Coil, the Welsh producer / musician has never been afraid to push these into areas most artists of a similar disposition would never be bold enough to touch. At once catchy, psychedelic, filmic and disturbed, Sion Orgon's work has a very distinctive feel to it that only arrives from a craftsman firmly locked on to his own path. "Dust" comprises six new tracks featuring Thighpaulsandra on half of them and a number of other guests, including Claudio Gian, Lara Ward, Richard Johnson, and weird 'n' wonderful Finnish & Latvian spoken parts. "Bulls P*nis Soup" is the latest full-length album from UK noise greats Smell & Quim. Originally issued as a limited 11" lathe by Glass Jelly Souffle and Post-Materialization Music in Feb 2021, "Bulls P*nis Soup" is now expanded and presented on CD, with an extra 30 minutes of material. Features original artwork from Phil Monopolka, adapted for CD. As with all S&Q output, filthy track titles. THE NEW BLOCKADERS - 'Live At Morden Tower' Cassette (Pink P*ss Tapes) - £10

The re-release of a monumental classic of Noise from 1983 featuring two early performances. The recordings were originally self-released by TNB on a very limited tape (100 copies). Side-B also features Sir Ashleigh Grove. "TNB continue their work with anti-theories, anti-instruments and anti-music. An abrasive and unrelenting attack where metal scrapes, slams and drags against hissing noise-generators and piercing feedback. The Blockaders seem to take great joy in dealing with the uncertainty and often precarious nature of live confrontations" (AEON). "The cyclone hits and sheets of metal shriek down like rain... Unrelenting and visceral, it's a phoenix in its execution and a peacock in its diversity. Squeaking and rolling, quacking and cajoling, the sound spikes and spills from the guts of that time and place. These recordings are almost 40 years old and still hold the same power to incite, unnerve and inspire as they did when they first emerged" (Freq).
