BASTARD NOISE - 'Bastard Noise Hails The Finnish Sound Masters / The Symptoms Of A Failing Equilibrium' CD (Freak Animal) - £11.50

Early Man Is The Bastard / Bastard Noise was well known for his passion and support of Finnish noise. Before anyone acknowledged the new era of the Finnish noise scene emerging in the 90's, USA's MITB/Bastard Noise support for the artists was crucial to introduce the names to global audience. One of the most remarkable collaborations of BN & Finnish noise art was the 1999 CD album "Bastard Noise Hails The Finnish Sound Masters / The Symptoms Of A Failing Equilibrium" (Freak Animal). In 2021, this album being over two decades old, still sounds fresh and interesting. High pitched doomdays electronic machines of Bastard Noise are combined with raw sounds submitted by Grunt, Bizarre Uproar, Skin-Graft, Woundead, Order., Junkdrome, and All-Out. Each artist submitted a different type of material to work with, yet it sounds like proper album rather than fragmented compilation. Reissued without remastering or editing and presented in a digipak using the original cover designs.

BLIND CAVE SALAMANDER - 'The Svalbard Suite' CD (Hypershape Records) - £11.50

The 6th album by the electro-acoustic duo Fabrizio Modonese Palumbo (Almagest!, Larsen, XXL), and Paul Beauchamp (Sikhara), aka Blind Cave Salamander is the result of a residency in Longyearbyen, Svalbard. This is a sonic socio-ecological exploration of Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic Ocean and part of a wider project in collaboration with the Torino theatre company Il Mutamento Zona Castalia, videomaker Omar Bovenzi and artist Gianni Colosimo, also featuring a documentary, a short movie and a theatre piece. Inspired by and focusing on the stunning geography and peculiarities of this territory at 12° latitude from the North Pole: humans are outnumbered by polar bears; plant seeds from all over the world are stored under the permafrost; you cannot be buried. It is also one of the areas on Earth most affected by global warming. The album is based on field recordings made on location, treated and enriched by the musical textures by Beauchamp and Palumbo, with contributions by American experimental band Xiu Xiu, Longyearbyen's miners choir Store Norske Mandskor, and Julia Kent (cello and electronics). 6-panel digipak. BRESTHAFT - 'Rottenverse' CD (Steinklang) - £11.50

Industrial noise and power electronics are what Bresthaft (meaning frail and sick), are all about. Dark, abrasive, disgusting and at times harsh walls of pulsating analogue synths, junk metal and enough audial grime to make the listener feel dirty. Inhale the stench of rotten guts. "Urban decay, dehumanization, alienation, dejection, filth. Bresthaft's approach to industrial noise is a balanced mix between controlled noise and power electronics... Rottenverse sounds dirty and abrasive, a constant layer of ugly distortion covering everything like a layer of caked, crusted blood... like an unnerving descent into the public restrooms of subway stations, dark alleyways of unsavoury neighbourhoods and the cellars of abandoned, derelict houses, where the outcasts and unwanted live in their own muck and filth... BRIGHTER DEATH NOW - 'All Too Bad - Bad To All' CD (Cold Meat Industry) - £14

All too bad, here is one bad to all. While the project has never compromised its original vision, it is fair to say Brighter Death Now has evolved into one of the few bands upholding the black flag of industrial music. True to his roots - Roger Karmanik is still living in accordance with the only law he can follow. NO rule. While people should be seriously more worried about the grumpy old nihilist. Nothing left to lose or gain. His bare and tarnished feet continue the one-man funeral procession through the cold and desolate Nordic landscape. His back against the world. Let Everything Rot! 7 years since last album, this new full-length is yet one of the ultimate albums from someone who has been around since before most were even born and he will cling on with nails and teeth until the last of us have given up or surrendered. This is bad news for all of us! Presented in a very nice glossy mini-LP gatefold digisleeve with foldout poster (24cm x 48cm), with CD in its own inner sleeve.

CONTROL - 'The Great Divide' LP (Malignant Records) - £20

The first new full length Control LP since 2018's "Blood Will Rain", "The Great Divide" is another crucial entry into Thomas Garrison's vaulted discography. As is the case with most Control releases, the 6 tracks found here thread the line between being heavily atmospheric death industrial and more corrosive full throttle power electronics. It's here where you'll find massive pneumatic pulsations and over modulated reverberations colliding with impenetrable walls of nightmarish soundscapes and impenetrable darkness. Ltd x 200 copies.

GRUNT - 'Last Grip To Sanity' CD (Freak Animal) - £11.50

First destined for a lathe cut 12" on a doomed Australian label back in 2003, Freak Animal quickly issued a small CDR edition to get the material out there. With regrets of wasting good material on CDR format, there was 110 copies vinyl edition issued in 2005. Ripping feedback, shrieking vocal attacks, grinding loop pedal on the bottom and crude metal junk on top, heavy slow drum sounds with eerie feedback on top. "Last Grip To Sanity" remains one of the most striking Grunt releases in its stripped down approach: live in rehearsal room without audience and recorded to analogue tape. Almost 20 years later, "Last Grip To Sanity" is available on CD-proper for the first time and presented in a digipak CD. No remastering.

GRUNT - 'Perfect World' CD (Industrial Recollections / Freak Animal) - £11.50

Reissue of the 1997 debut CD album by Grunt, originally released in an edition of just 100 copies (Les Disques Bruitistes). Recorded late 1996-early 1997, all home-recordings created with an analogue 4-tracker. From harsh noise to eerie drones, from SJ and Ramleh-inspired dirty industrial noise experiments, to Gerogerigegege, Hanatarash, Violent Onsen Geisha inspired-racket. What may be lost in lack of coherency, is counterbalanced by the aesthetics of 90's DIY noise scene. Technical excellency is replaced by a youthful and playful approach of discovering ways to make noise. The lack of direction is direction itself. Sonically it is the link between their very early works and what soon would become the known Grunt sound (Europe After Storm, Terror & Degenration etc). The original hand-made art is presented for the first time in full colour. No remastering.

HAL HUTCHINSON - 'Cold Industrial Experience' CD (Freak Animal) - £11.50

Brand new album from the UK's Hal Hutchinson. This material is perhaps less harsh noise, and more industrial-soundscapes of loops and crude factory sounds. "Cold Industrial Experience" has a great dirty and rusty sound built out of raw and harsh industrial noise fragments, that have a somewhat musical composition. All instrumental works here are built of dysfunctional machinery rhythms, feedback, crushing and collapsing construction sounds, with an overdriven, saturated mix. Material marking HH's strongest works yet: noisy enough for harsh noise-heads, composed enough to satisfy people into the darkest and noisiest industrial. 6-panel digipak.

MASS EJECTION - 'Molten Vasts' CD (Malignant Records) - £12

A collaborative album between Grant Richardson (Gnawed) & Themistoklis Altintzoglou (Θ Theta), Molten Vasts is exactly as its name and imaging implies... a roiling and mesmerizing mass of molten textures, arching drones, and searing oceanic swirls. Dark ambient in its purest form. "A more-than-satisfying aural rendition of the towering power of our invincible sun. An isolationist, power-electronics tour-de-force that flirts with drone and dark ambient" (Deadpanist). Ltd x 200 copies in a gatefold digisleeve.

NEOLITHIC NATION - 'Atavism' CD (Steinklang) - £11.50

A mix of power electronics and field recordings from this Russian act (inc a member of Nyctalops). "Atavism" (defined as getting back to something ancient or ancestral). This album is a life cycle, beginning in the flames of enthusiasm, dissolving in the nothingness. An epileptic aura in the form of visions from the past. Field recordings were made at the historical ruins in Berlin. "Atavism takes off with military spheres and howling wolves, but quite progressively we're entering a tormented universe made of sound collages and sonic manipulations. The tracks are carried by extreme, buzzing soundwaves and tormented vocals. The title of the album perfectly stands for the specific aspects of this album; the vocals feature passages of one of the members during his epileptic seizures, recorded by hospital personnel. During these traumatic moments he had visions from the past... You can't feel comfortable listening to this album, but that's precisely the work's strength. The linear, repetitive sound loops mixed with field recordings are leading you throughout a world of enigma and paranormal experiences" (Side-Line). Ltd x 100 copies in a 6-panel glossy digipak.

PAIN NAIL - 'Salainen Diktatuuri' CD (Freak Animal) - £11.50

Finnish industrial soundscapes / power electronics. Formed back in 1998, for almost 25 years, Pain Nail (Marko Kokkonen of Harsh / Fleshpress, and Mikko Aspa of Grunt) has played shows in Finland and abroad, and published new works every once in a while - yet recording vastly more than ever published. Every release to date has been a long process of evaluation and rejection until finally the complete physical release emerges. The new album "Salainen Diktatuuri", recorded back in 2018, is finally ready for the world. 40 minutes of Finnish Industrial / Power Electronics / Noise soundscapes. Rhythmic, raw, atmospheric, decayed and elegant, all blending together. Gatefold digisleeve with slipcase.

SCRELOMA - 'Amplifying Hatred' CD (Subliminal Propaganda) - £12

Screloma is the one-man Japanese power electronics / industrial noise project from Jun-ichi Takahashi (MOTHRA). His music closely represents the chaotic spiritual world of humans and is reminiscent of the soundtrack of a fictional war documentary film. This is the 4th Screloma album - a work that follows the style of his previous cassette tape work "Screloma", but with a heavier sound. The victims of hatred are endless. Neither statement is correct. There is only the hatred of being robbed of one's beloved family and friends. Recommended for those who like Kontinent, Kevlar, S.T.A.B. Electronics. Comes with with obi strip.

TUNNELS OF ĀH - 'Iron Speaks' CD Tin Boxset (Hypershape Records) - £14

"Iron Speaks" has become known as the 'lost' Tunnels Of Āh album since it was abandoned as the fifth album release. After reworking the original material, "Iron Speaks" emerges as a rediscovered official sixth album release. The ominous, possessive piece of work deals with the transitional stages of life and death. As ever though, the darkness of TUNNELS OF AH's output stems from and towards a place of infinite light. The title, "Iron Speaks", is a reference to the chapter in the Koran which states that iron emerges from the heavens as a gift to mankind. This is often graphically depicted as a blazing ball of molten fire approaching its earthly target. That image perfectly encapsulates the sonic dynamism of this album: a consuming experience as it slowly enters its intended orbit to its chosen point with inevitable crushing impact. The 'lost' album has evolved into an essential Tunnels Of Āh album. Ltd x 200 copies in a metal tin box, including 24x24cm poster-artwork and fine paper CD sleeve with transparent front window.

ULTRAPOLAR INTRUSION - 'This War Will Have No End' CD (Steinklang) - £11.50

Combative Industrial Noise from Gorky Nav'grad. "This War Will Have No End..." is the 4th full-length album by the project Ultrapolar Intrusion (Ultrapoljrnoe Vtorzhenie). An oppressive and brutal chronicle of a war that never ceases to go on throughout the entire history of mankind. A war in which man is only a means, and victory is only an illusion, a mirage wandering through time. Here is no romance, no militarism or pacifism, no insignia and no state flags. Only a given, expressed by means of heavy sound and burnout emotions... "An album that has the hypnotic element of dark ambient combined with the bleak nihilism of power electronics... Brand new album from Finland's Will Over Matter whose sound encapsulates Occult electronics, Satanic industrial and sound alchemy. "Aviation Hypnosis" is a shorter, more instrumental album than their previous outings - full of minimal industrial sounds, pulsating rhythms and harsh electronic noise signals. 20 musicians from around the world have created a Neofolk / Neoclassical charity compilation for the Armenians of Artsakh who were prosecuted and forced to move from their land in Winter 2020. COIL - 'Love's Secret Domain (30th Anniversary Edition)' 2 x CD (Infinite Fog Productions) - £20

In 1991 Coil released the third of their early classic full-length albums, "Love's Secret Domain", seemingly casting aside the gloom and funereal beauty of its predecessors in favour of a painstakingly multi-layered hallucinogenic electronic beast. Unlike some of their fellow ex-industrial contemporaries' releases of the time, this wasn't an attempt at easy accessibility or (the-gods-forbid) danceability, but a vibrating psychedelic masterpiece unrivalled in their discography and still a landmark album today. To mark its 30 year anniversary Infinite Fog present an expanded, fully remastered official re-release of this fan favourite, with 10 rare and mostly unreleased tracks and alternative versions from the period added as a bonus to the luxurious 2CD set. "Love's Secret Domain" contains among its many highlights the Lynchian William Blake tribute of its title track and the intoxicating single 'Windowpane', original versions of the later Coil live staple 'Teenage Lightning' and the majestically warped classicisms of 'Chaostrophy'. Marc Almond guests on the typhonian 'Titan Arch' and This Heat's Charles Hayward provides some amazing drum stylings. This album produced by Coil & Danny Hyde pushed their sound ideas and probably their sanity to their very limits. Beyond the iconic Steven Stapleton (Nurse With Wound) cover art here reproduced in unseen definition the doors of perception still open wide for both long-term Coil aficionados and new-comers to this supremely innovative release to explore unknown depths. The long-overdue re-release illustrates how far ahead of the curve Coil were with the sounds on this album, which still sounds as fresh and mind-blowing as it did back in the early 90's. Deluxe 8-panel digipak with 12-page booklet containing lyrics and photographs, and with sleeve notes by Danny Hyde and Steven Stapleton. A foldout cover poster is also included.

GRAEME REVELL - 'The Insect Musicians / Necropolis, Amphibians & Reptiles'' CD + Book (Old Europa Cafe) - £16.50

A deluxe collection of two albums from 1986 by Graeme Revell, the mastermind behind the seminal Industrial project SPK, and a renowned Hollywood soundtrack artist. Back in 1986, "The Insect Musicians" was probably the first album created using computer only. Years before Matmos, Lopez or Autechre, Revell created microtonal music - not only using samples of micro-sounds (here, the sound of insects), but also experimenting with the nature of sound itself. The newest technology of the time is mixed with nature; all material comes from the natural environment. An incredible album capturing many different sound-shades. For best results, listen on good headphones. The remaining tracks were originally used on the compilation "Necropolis, Amphibians & Reptiles", involving Nurse With Wound and Déficit Des Années Antérieures, and dedicated to Adolf Wölfli. Following a troubled early childhood, Wölfli was in and out of institutions from an early age, eventually spending the last 35 years of his adult life at the Waldau Clinic, a psychiatric hospital in Bern. Often disturbed and violent, he suffered from psychosis, which led to intense hallucinations. It was at the Clinic that Wölfli began his incredible drawings, producing more then 1400 drawings, more then 1500 collages, and 25000 pages of writings. He is now considered one of the most important early Art Brut and Outsider Artists. Ltd x 300 copies in a deluxe digi-slipcase with 40-page booklet about insect sounds and sampling technologies used for the recordings as well as extensive analysis about the life and work of Adolf Wölfli.

GRIM - 'Lunatic House' CD (Steinklang) - £12

Japanese Industrial project headed by Jun Konagaya (White Hospital, Vasilisk). "Konagaya cements his singular style with a distinctive way of integrating melody into crushing abrasiveness; these elements are so recognizable that it's always immediately clear it's him (there's even a consistent organ melody that repeatedly crops up and links different releases together)... Lunatic House is a fascinatingly diverse and unique progression from the artist's recent output, melding Grim's dual faith to beauty and aggression into a more cohesive style than ever before... one of the most consuming and terrifying amalgams of sound I've ever heard, a restless mass of tortured, throat-tearing yells and crushing noise" (Noise Not Music). IRON FIST OF THE SUN - 'Blush' CD (Unrest Productions) - £10

Reissue of the highly sought after cassette from 2010 (Ltd x 120 copies, Unrest Prods). The synth driven power electronics of IFOTS is hard to define and is not instant on the ears. "Blush" followed and evolved from the debut CD "Behavioural Decline" on Cold Spring (2009). There is no in your face harsh approach here, IFOTS takes a much more subtle route than that and is all the more challenging for it. Comes with a bonus live version of Feel The Boot. Shocking pink digipak with spot-varnished artwork.

LUGOLA - 'You Are Not Special' CD (Steinklang) - £11

Lugola is a noise project from Poland that began in 2012. Since the very beginning the solo work of Michal 'Neithan' Kielbasa has been a combination of noise, power electronics, drone and dark ambient. Lugola live performances are partially improvised free-form sonic assaults, physically and emotionally intense. Visuals are often used. There are no limits. There is no future. YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL. This album is a return to the project's roots: an assault on your senses, an almost physical show of nihilism and hate, a channel for all negative thoughts and emotions. Taking its musical cues from classic harsh noise, power electronics and death industrial breaks - all kinds of limitations without any interest in listener's comfort.
