The film itself has only ever been shown a handful of times since it was made 38 years ago, and the soundtrack has quite the story, as beautifully told in the liner notes by James Mackay.

What was intended as a one-off collaboration with 2018's "Alpha Ænigma", the duo of Henrik Nordvargr Björkk (MZ.412, Folkstorm, Pouppée Fabrikk, Anima Nostra) and Thomas Ekelund (Trepaneringsritualen, Dead Letters Spell Out Dead Words) returns once again, spitting more vitriol into the face of the world. Not to be confused with their main collaborative project Det Kätterska Förbund (Cold Spring), this entity performs a pure ritualistic form of music, if you could call it that. These ritual sounds are once again to be considered a living curse, one that spirals out of control and gains more momentum for every time it is recited / played. Let the atmosphere guide you to places you would never find on your own, and open up to the formulae of submission and madness, a deep and obscured abyss of unknown pleasure and pains. "Benbow's eight cuts make for a hell of a journey in their own right. The tone is far from celebratory: it’s dark, claustrophobic, driven by dense beats and even denser atmosphere... CLUB MORAL - 'To All Who Are Interested...' LP (Aussaat) - £22

Manic, raw, mechanical, atonal, angry, dissonant, noisy, misanthropic, anxious, surreal, dark, violent, disturbing. This is the long overdue reissue of the highly sought after and legendary Club Moral LP, first released in 1989 (Cthulhu Records). Active since 1981, this unique album was actually the Belgian band's first vinyl release after a dozen or so cassettes on labels such as Staaltape, Zwijntape, and their own Club Moral imprint. DARK AWAKE / KLEISTOPHOBIA - 'Amavrosis' CD (Aisxini) - £12

Legendary Athenian band DARK AWAKE have blessed more than a decade with numerous and various devotions, here contributing five ritualistic dark hymns to unveil the inmost light. After half a decade and two haunting releases, Fellow Hellenic act KLEISTOPHOBIA continues its manifestation with more cinematographic electronics and hypnotic black ambience, delivering five spells to extinct any doubt or rise new fear! Alchemically combined, together they create "Amavrosis": a Light to the Dark universe! A magnificent album of occult Dark Ambience and Orchestral opulence that can exterminate or expand. ENTRE VIFS - 'UB•10' CD (Aussaat) - £12

Entre Vifs (featuring members of Le Syndicat) create noise in the truest sense of the word. After two decades of interruption Entre Vifs is resuscitating its modular system built around artisanal noise instruments supplemented by an integrated sound processing system and mixing - notably delay pedals without hoods, used as percussion, which are part of their trademark. The home sessions presented on this CD are their tenth Bruitist Unit (UB•10). The sounds of the trickiest instruments to adjust have been digitally sampled and made accessible via a vintage sampler controlled by the keyboard of a laptop - an alternative to the 4-track cassette sounds. "Unfettered noisecraft sculpts a panorama of pure forms in the chaos of sound, discernible only by their texture, colouring and evolution over time. This enacting of the sound mass as an abstract material is anchored in the immediate experience by letting each listener arrange their own mental associations and become a fully-fledged actor in the bruitist experience". ENVENOMIST & THETA - 'The Barrens' CD (Crionic Mind) - £11.50

A seamless collaboration between these two exceptional projects that makes for a saturating listen. Heavy, cinematic Dark Ambient for blast zones and those quiet moments after the bombs go off. Desolate, windswept, haunted electronics. Envenomist is David Reed, the musician behind projects such as Luasa Raelon and Telesurgient. Theta is Greek artist Themistoklis Altintzoglou, currently residing in Tromso, northern Norway. He is also half of the duos Mass Ejection, Metatag and Isolation. Ltd x 200 copies in a digipak.

FRAG (TUNNELS OF AH) - 'Controlled Coma' Cassette (Cruel Nature Recordings) - £6

UK brutalist act FRAG was a 'secret' project, and "Controlled Coma" an 'imagined' album from 1994 by Stephen Ah Burroughs (Tunnels of Ah, Head of David). Following the demise of Head of David, Burroughs made a conscious decision to opt out of the music business to pursue an altogether different lifestyle in the cloistered world Buddhism. An urge to create sound remained, however, and Burroughs sought to return to his industrial / concretè roots via FRAG, a project intended never to be seen or heard. Between February-July 1994 using a Fostex X18 4 track recorder and a twisted Solina string synth, "Controlled Coma" manifested, and was unheard till now on this limited edition cassette. The recordings appear as they did in 1994. NON "Physical Evidence" and Maurizio Bianchi were the driving influences for FRAG. Typically "Controlled Coma" is harsh and uncompromising listening, a 'toxic landfill symphony' unearthed. Pro-dubbed black cassette with pro-printed inlay. Ltd x 100 copies only!

OMNIBAEL - 'Rain Soaks The Earth Where They Lie' Cassette (Cruel Nature Recordings) - £6

Omnibael has diverse, divergent, wide-ranging ideas, centred around the creation of noise. The noise came before the identity: this project is about sound, not image. "Rain Soaks the Earth Where They Lie" is a document of their development, but is also a testament to their desire to push, to innovate. Informed by peers such as The Body, White Suns, Gnaw Their Tongues, Uniform, Black Dice, Full of Hell, Godflesh etc, their tearing, shrieking, calamitous overload clearly draws on the punishing intensity and gnarly nastiness of the aforementioned acts. "Rain Soaks the Earth Where They Lie" is a combination of accident and design, with segments of original recordings, samples Burroughsian cut-ups, tape loops and noise dominating the album. With a host of drum machines and samplers, they create a barrage of beats that hammer away amidst a murky cacophony of dense, disturbing sound, and it's heavy as hell, particularly with the vocals which are by turns shrieking demonic and droning atonal. Pro-dubbed clear cassette made from recycled materials, with pro-printed inlay and black ink on-body shell print, in a clear library case. Ltd x 60 copies only!

R.Y.N. - 'Cosmic Death' 2 x Cassette (Cruel Nature Recordings) - £15

R.Y.N. are a UK-based Noise / Drone duo of Pete Burn (Marzuraan) and Dean Glaister (Romance), probably best known for their "Astral Death" CD (Unrest Productions) and an excellent 7" on Drone Records. "Cosmic Death" is the result of their earliest recordings and experiments. This new double tape set is the only time the albums "Astral Death" (& "Cosmic Birth" (originally released on Turgid Animal) have been available on cassette. The masters were taken from the original James Plotkin mastering jobs from 2007-2008. The group disbanded in 2011. Two pro-dubbed cassettes (black / white), with pro-printed on-body shell print, in a white double-cassette presentation case with pro-printed double-sided gatefold cover. Includes pro-printed 11" x 11" poster and booklet. The tapes are made from recycled materials as is all the paper stock used. All original artwork by Pete Burn. Ltd x 50 copies only!

RUDOLF EB.ER & WILL GUTHRIE - 'Hilt' LP (Fragment Factory) - £19

Based in Osaka and Nantes respectively, Rudolf Eb.er (Runzelstirn & Gurgelstøck, Schimpfluch-Gruppe) and Will Guthrie have both forged unique and quite different paths in numerous disciplines of experimental music over the past decades and created extensive bodies of work, both as soloists and in collaboration with other artists from around the world. "Hilt" is the first collaboration between two artists who may seem very different at first glance. However, their distinct approaches to composition and sound complement each other perfectly and make this album a very special and exciting affair. The closer you listen, the more you will be drawn into it and realize that the rhythmic drumming, the careful arrangements of hiss, crackle and eerie muttering paired with fragmented bits of percussive noises make "Hilt" a very coherent whole. A very organic and ritual-like album; captivating and a little daunting at the same time. Ltd x 300 copies with artwork by Alice Kemp.

TAM QUAM TABULA RASA - 'Egomachia' CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £12

After a very long silence Tam Quam Tabula Rasa finally return with their brand new full-length album. The concept behind this album is "Egomachia" (the fight of the ego). It is divided into three sections which correspond to the 3 Parche: Clòto, Làchesi, Àtropo (Birth, Life, Death). Nothing is casual in "Egomachia"; like the ennagono (nonagon) that contains the symbol of the 9-sided TQTR logo; like the letters of Egomachia. "Egomachia" was recorded entirely with non-traditional instruments (all of them unique and handcrafted), and without the use of loops. Very deep and dark experimental sounds by this Italian master of Old School Industrial. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak.

THE CORVIDAE CABAL - 'The Gossamer Bridge' CD (Crionic Mind) - £11.50

The Corvidae Cabal is Scott. E. Candey (Gruntsplatter). "The Gossamer Bridge", is a cinematic foray into the dim parlours and spirit lodges that seek to facilitate communication between realms. Evocative, malleable, Dark Ambient / Death Industrial at the precipice of the thrumming veil. Similar, yet different to Scott's main project. Mastered by Thomas Garrision (Control). THE RITA - 'Sharks And The Female Form / Tight Fitting Armor' CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £12

A reissue of the ultra-limited 2018 cassette "Sharks and the Female Form" (Ltd x 39 copies, Old Europa Cafe). "Tight Fitting Armor (Diary Of A Chambermaid)" was released in 2016, also as an ultra-limited cassette and 12" lathe cut of just 23 hand-numbered copies (Old Europa Cafe). What you get here is the HARSH NOISE WALL for which THE RITA (aka Sam McKinlay of Black To Comm, Vice Wears Black Hose) is very well known! Of special note is the front cover image - a drawing by Japanese artist ZUKK, whose design combines the imagery used for the covers of the two original cassettes into a single remarkable image. All other art featured has been taken and re-worked from those original tapes. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak.

VHS¥DEATH - 'Corrupted Geisha' Cassette (Cruel Nature Recordings) - £6

VHS¥DEATH is the solo project of London-based Natalie Wardle (Returning Videotapes). "Corrupted Geisha" is the follow up to 2021's "La Llorona" and sees her incorporate breakbeats and hip-hop alongside spoken-word samples and dark synth-laden bass-heavy soundscapes. "... a thrilling concoction of speech, doomy atmosphere and jungle rhythms... Wardle seems to choose sounds as much for contextual baggage as their sonic properties, making collisions both jarring and revelatory... The whole EP is a magnet for apocalyptic vibes and angry defiance. Wardle using breakbeats and loaded plunderphonics to collage a high-definition reflection of our volatile times" (The Quietus). The first new Gruntsplatter full length since "The Aberrant Laboratory" (2006). "Hope lies waiting with the elegant countenance of a poison frog. The last ashes of the map vanished early. Navigate the gooey shadows by determined crawl and pounding stride. Breach the places one hopes to never see, that cannot be unseen. Excavating, sifting, grinding teeth beneath waterfalls.
