GENESIS P-ORRIDGE & DAVE BALL 'Imagining October' 12" Etched - Out 6th May:
"The heroism of revolution through the queered lens". We'e excited to release - for the first time ever on any format - the soundtrack to DEREK JARMAN's rarely seen 1984 film, with specially-commissioned music by GENESIS P-ORRIDGE & DAVE BALL. The film itself has only ever been shown a handful of times since it was made 38 years ago, and the soundtrack has quite the story, as beautifully told in the liner notes by James Mackay.

ANDER - 'Potrwa Wiecznie' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
"Potrwa Wiecznie" (it will last forever) is the successor to Ander's debut album "Smutek" (Sadness) on the BDTA label. The 17 tracks range from the cinematic to electro minimalism, from darkwave to delicately dreamy and melancholic, from the darkly atmospheric to enigmatic sound puzzles. Each of the miniatures unfold in such a way as to evolve into one longer story over the duration of the album. The music requires that you listen carefully, in a darkened room, detached from the hustle and bustle outside the window, so that its intimate character is fully heard. After all, this is an album for those who appreciate seemingly simple, somewhat fleeting, ephemeral melodies and short forms, woven delicately in a style similar to the atmosphere reminiscent of the sound of 4AD, Talk Talk, sometimes provoking reflection or stimulating the imagination of the audience. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel ecopak. |
C.H. DISTRICT - 'Live at XIX Wroclaw Industrial Festival' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
Recorded during a concert at the 19th Wroclaw Industrial Festival in the middle of 2020 lockdown and broadcast entirely online, C.H. District presents material mostly based on the use of modular synthesizers, extracting dense, motor structures. The set is filled with heavy beats with a metallic, rough sound, building tension and atmosphere. We can also hear references to C.H. District's early work for Tympanik Audio or M-Tronic; deep composition, woven with melody. Also included is a recording during a live stream broadcast from his home studio, based on the same framework, but with live improvisation. A record of a fleeting fragment of C.H. District's work which today, after spreading the developed patterns on a modular synthesizer, cannot be recreated. "Slow rhythms and harder kicks have been mixed with Industrial sound treatments while more sophisticated, and minimal-driven bleeps create a space-like effect... This artist is a kind of sound alchemist, manipulating analogue sounds with effects and rhythms... the Industrial sound treatments have something heavier and darker. Both tracks move towards a crescendo with heavy sound blasts" (Side-Line). Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
DID - 'End Of Xibalba' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
"End Of Xibalba" is a full-length, solo album of DID (aka Hania Piosik), an artist who has collaborated with Michal Jablonki and is also a member of Warsaw Improvisers Orchestra. Her latest album reveals a slightly different approach of the artist, who composes music on the edge of drone and ambient genres. Her live performances which refer to the concept of "End of Xibalba" (Xibalba - the mythological place of fear and pain) are accompanied by a vocal story that guides the listener through the peculiar corridors of their interiors. The fact that the story is told in a language that does not actually exist might seem troublesome... or perhaps this story denudation from contemporarily known words brings us closer to understanding what is really important for the individual recipient. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
DYING PASSION - 'Skylor' CD (Epidemie Records) - £11
Dying Passion's 9th studio album brings 11 original tracks in atmospheric post-rock / darkwave / dream pop sound. The key character of the album is the astronaut Skylor, speaking of his experience in space travel and trips to unchartered planets; while exploring these he often wonders if he will ever come back to the Earth. The Czech gothic / doom metallers return 6 years after their previous album, following more alternative rock paths, playing a similar style to the latest Anathema. 6-panel digipak with 12-page booklet. |
ELBE - 'Eschatology' CD (Epidemie Records) - £11
The second album of Czech band Elbe is a mixture of ethereal post-rock and crushing heavy doom metal. "A sad, thoughtful album. Gloomy like fog over the lake... Compared to the previous "Sudeten", the new album is more elaborate, more complete and more catchy. Plus, the magic voice. ELBE will conquer you. They are designed for special occasions, for moments when the world stops, stops rotating and finally its beauty, purity, melancholy, and rawness will finally stand out. "Eschatology" is like jumping into ice water, you are slowly losing your breath. The corpse faces of your drowned predecessors could tell... With a great sound (guitars ring so beautifully like crystals), a firm and clear voice, with lots of ethereal surfaces" (Deadly Storm Zine). Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
GOSPEL OF THE FUTURE - 'Blowtorch Mankind' CD (Epidemie Records) - £11
"Gospel Of The Future have been considered one of the heaviest and loudest sludge metal acts from the Czech underground. Through their uncompromising sound, live and on record, they built themselves a name within the metal and stoner scene, and after eight long years split up, the band are now returning with their third album Blowtorch Mankind... Gospel Of The Future's sound is a solid wall, a dense substance nothing could possibly penetrate. If you were looking for something that had a sound that might feel like mud running down your throat, this is the sludge you were looking for" (The Sleeping Shaman). 6-panel digipak. |
HESSEL VELDMAN - 'Ymuiden' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50
Hessel Veldman is a Dutch musician, composer and producer. His new album is comprised of seven experimental dark ambient soundscapes, laced with industrial elements, creating a hypnotic, dark undercurrent of sound. "Ymuiden" is an experimental audio sound map of Ijmuiden, Noord-Holland; a city where Hessel grew-up and still lives today. A place that has seen much happen, many changes and innovation in its short history, inspiring the album: "the place that was born in 1876... where they dug and conquered the dunes... where they gave birth to the mouth (muiden) of the harbour (Piervrees) of Amsterdam (IJ)... the place of raw (Rauw) labour... the off-shore industry (Stuurlast)... the steel factory (Ademslak)... the gateway (docks; Sluisgelag) to Amsterdam... the exit to the world (Scheepskoorts)... the international fishing harbour (Tongrot)... the fortified WWII (1943-1945) city (Duinbeton)... January 26th 2022 will see the opening of the world's greatest lock (Zeesluis IJmuiden)". Sound sources: KORG MS20 and archived field recordings. Ltd x 200 copies in a digisleeve |
HYBRYDS - 'Cortex Stimulation - Virtual Impact' 2 x CD (Zoharum) - £15
This installment in the series of Hybryds classics reissues gathers two full albums, which, despite a few years between them (1996 and 2000 respectively), complement each other perfectly, showing a slightly more electronic face of Belgian musicians' work. With the guest musicians involved, it's no surprise that this DCD features some excellent rhythmic noise / rhythmic industrial, alongside Hybryds' trademark ritual works. The first CD, "Cortex Stimulation", was recorded with the participation of befriended musicians from DIVE and DEUTSCH NEPAL. The second disc, "Virtual Impact", is a 100% live album, recorded during the band's performances at MS Stubnitz, Wave-Gotik-Treffen and Nursery Injection, which also featured guests from DEUTSCH NEPAL, DIVE and P•A•L. Originally, both albums (featuring original vocalist YASNAÏA) were published by Daft Records, owned by Dirk Ivens. Today, refreshed, completely remastered and with new artwork by Sandy Nys, this set gives the opportunity of rediscovery or uncovering an interesting and creative period in the activities of Hybryds. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel ecopak. |
JARL - 'Phonophobia' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
"Phonophobia" (fear of sound) refers directly to the issue of psychology and clinical psychiatry, where, thanks to methodically developed sound structures, arranged and marked appropriately on the scale of impact intensity with numbers 1-3, it recreates the world of sounds, closed in the mind of a person suffering from this ailment. Here, the space is suddenly filled with high-intensity soundwaves, stimulating the listener to active reception and strongly influencing his psyche (at the same time). The feeling of rising does not disappear here even for a moment and accompanies the last sound on the album. After that, there is absolute silence, becoming a counterpoint to the music that resounds in the head for some time. Once again, Erik Jarl (IRM, ex-SKIN AREA) takes an interesting topic into his workshop and realises it in a unique and extraordinary way, providing his listeners with coherent, intriguing material. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
MOLJEBKA PVLSE - 'Borrowed Scenery: Appearance' MCD (Zoharum) - £11.50
Sweden's Moljebka Pvlse will be known to many for releases on labels such as Cold Meat Industry, Cyclic Law, Drone Records, and Reverse Alignment. During the pandemic, Mathias Josefson (MOLJEBKA PVLSE) used his own studio as a vehicle to traverse through virtual field recordings, composing abstract environments and discovering distant lands. The map of these borrowed places is written in three long compositions, complementing each other like the topography of neighbouring places or overlapping grids showing different properties occurring at the same latitude. It is possible to read them separately, just as it is possible to listen to only one of the three compositions and it gives some idea, allowing you to capture a selected fragment, this listening to the whole gives a deeper insight. The material from the session was divided according to a similar pattern and properly divided into two complementary releases: the album "Borrowed Scenery", which will be released next spring on vinyl, and this release, "Borrowed Scenery: Appearance", introducing the atmosphere of the longplay, respectively. 21 mins. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6" gatefold sleeve with 2 postcards. |
NAM-KHAR & VORTEX - 'Nag-Hammadi' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50
German ritual ambient bands Nam-Khar (Winter-Light / Zazen Sounds) and Vortex (Cyclic Law / Tesco Organisation) join forces to draw inspiration from the Nag Hammadi scriptures and their spiritual and cultural context. They fused their distinctive sounds to create a careful interpretation of the source texts from a pan-religious and spiritual perspective, resulting in hypnotic soundscapes and rhythmic patterns. The idea of this album concept is to maintain the spirit of ancient and mostly forgotten paths of wisdom to a contemporary audience. It is dedicated to the spiritual seeker. The Nag Hammadi scriptures (also known as the Nag Hammadi library) are a collection of early Christian texts that are mainly attributable to the Gnosis and were never integrated in official versions of the bible. They were found by local farmers near the small Egyptian town of Nag Hammadi in December of 1945 and probably date from 1st-4th centuries. These codices may have belonged to a nearby Pachomian monastery and were buried after Saint Athanasius condemned the use of non-canonical books in his Festal Letter of 367 A.D. The discovery of these texts significantly influenced knowledge of early Christianity and Gnosticism. Mastered by Robin Storey (Rapoon). Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve. |
ORD - 'Withered Bones' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
ORD (Alexey Shipilov) is a musician who can boast of quite a lot of phonographic achievements, which has consolidated his position on the Russian experimental scene, with time going beyond its borders. The material on "Withered Bones" is the result of several sessions recorded between autumn and winter 2020 at the Yunost Music Center. This is ritual music with a deep meditative influence, based on traditional acoustic instruments (singing bowls, flutes, tubular bells, caratals, tambourines and other percussion instruments) with the support of field recordings, samples and effects. Through its own music, graphics and live performances, ORD demonstrates his bond to the Buddhist ritual tradition and shamanic practices that preceded it, which gives a certain colour and can be an asset. It can undoubtedly be successful in the mind of a recipient who isn't too familiar with Buddhist meditation practices and is a recommended album for exploring new areas of music. Ltd x 300 copies in an ecopak. |
ORGANUM ELECTRONICS - 'Fearceness' CD (Siren Records) - £14.50
The 4th volume of Organum Electronics, the ultra heavy Drone Noise project of British artist David Jackman. The difference from his main project, Organum, is that it literally uses electronics as a material for creating sounds. An abandoned silence. Dreams of drifting, living a fateful solitude. Wrapped around a grey and foaming voice. Reaping impulse and mass like a forgotten beast. Lost to countless days and nights. Rocks and soil, sand and stars. In the sadness of being. Standing apart. Remember the rising flame from time long ago. A sound that shook deeply from the bottom of a boiling ocean. One voice of Mother Magma. Formless lava fashioned a primeval landscape. Ash, smoke and seething seas. A red-hot avalanche cascades endlessly. The Awakened Voice. Predestined from beyond the FEARCENESS. "Organum in noise mode doesn't mean Organum in a harsh noise setting. His music is loud, like a metallic rumble, stuck in an endless groove (no rhythm) of continuously processed sounds. Think of this music as if one is locked inside the motor of an airplane" (Vital Weekly). Ltd x 500 copies in a digisleeve. |
SPHYXION - '3' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
Sphyxion's third studio album sees the musicians develop their own minimal synthwave formula, introducing it into completely new sound areas. This electronic incarnation of brothers Frederic and Olivier Charlot (MANINKARI) is a peculiar development of the musical formula of their main project, enriching it with a slightly mechanical, stronger, constantly pulsating rhythm. Despite the fact that the material follows the synthwave convention, it still carries a lot of plasticity, inherent in the richness of sounds, from many intricately woven from scraps of melodies ornaments. They create an atmosphere that evocatively affects the imagination of the listener by combining consciously the classical instruments and electronics in their own way. The musicians could have acquired that illustrative nature of their works both from their academic education and considerably rich experience gained e.g. while working on sounding theatrical performances or composing movie scores. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel ecopak. |
THETA - 'Vision Of One' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
Behind Theta stands Greek artist Themistoklis Altintzoglou, currently residing in Tromso, northern Norway. He is also half of the duos Metatag and Isolation. On "Vision Of One", Theta balances between drone and ambient aesthetics; in this case, it is only a starting point for further excursions to other regions, not so obvious in this genre. Rather modest means of expression are used to bring out new, sometimes surprising and unusual structures based on a massive cold, even rough and metallic sound. The atmosphere thickens with every minute; you can clearly feel the Scandinavian cold, with everywhere enveloped in an aura of mystery, seasoned with a pinch of post black metal spirit. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel ecopak. |
VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Anthology Of Experimental Music From Japan' CD (Unexplained Sounds) - £12
This anthology of experimental music from Japan showcases the young generation of musicians alongside established names and provides an insight into the current experimental scene, confirming the adventurous character of the Japanese music research. Modern day noise music has escaped the preserve of academics and avant-garde thinkers. While noise conjures up the image of a cacophonous maelstrom of sound, contemporary improvisers utilize a much broader tonal palate, often offsetting abrasive textures with environmental sound, field recordings, and even silence. This is especially true in Japan, which has become a global center for the genre, coined "Japanoise". Haino Keiji, Merzbow, Otomo Yoshihide, and Hijokaidan rank among the scene's most respected and influential names. Some of the elements of traditional Japanese music seem to a novice like mere "noise" and have clear parallels in modern experimental music... A music coming from the merging of tradition with new music developments from the West had to take its direction to something "other". This compilation features: Tukico, Farabi Toshiyuki Suzuki, Ryo Murakami, Mosquito, Kenji Ikegami, minamiryohei, Masayuki Imanishi, Kazuya Ishigami, Kakushin Nishihara, Lynne, Contagious Orgasm, Yuko Araki, Fuguli, and MC LAS. Digipak. |
VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Hauntology In UK' CD (Eighth Tower Records / Unexplained Sounds) - £12
"Hauntology" is one of those difficult philosophy words that seems designed to exist on the margins of our consciousness. The term originates in the work of the notorious Algerian-born French philosopher Jacques Derrida, and is first mentioned in his book Specters of Marx, which was originally delivered as a series of lectures at the University of California in 1993. In Derrida, the concept of hauntology is very much a political one. But the word "hauntology" has gained the currency it has today thanks to Mark Fisher, philosopher, cultural critic and blogger, who took his own life in 2017. Fisher has posthumously assumed the sort of legendary status reserved for thinkers considered to be among the most important or insightful of their time. In Fisher's view, the 21st century is oppressed by a crushing sense of finitude and exhaustion"; the current cultural moment is "in the grip of a formal nostalgia", in which ostensibly "new" things are produced only through the imitation and pastiche of old forms. It was originally as a way of understanding the "loss of the future" that Fisher - in correspondence with the music critic Simon Reynolds - began to invoke the concept of hauntology. Features: Rapoon & Sonologyst (2 tracks), Howlround (2 tracks), Grey Frequency, Pascal Savy, Michael Bonaventure, Foreseer, and Dead Space Chamber Music. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |

FERIAL CONFINE - 'Meiosis' CD (Siren Records) - £14.50
Gorgeous reissue of Ferial Confine's 1985 album, previously issued on Broken Flag on cassette. Ferial Confine was an early ANDREW CHALK (Mirror, Ora) experimental, somewhat noise-based project. You can certainly hear the influence of The New Blockaders and, to some extent, Whitehouse, but "Meiosis" is a fine example of what was 'in the air' for a small amount of people scattered around the world at the time. Without computer technology, this sort of sound barrage was difficult and time-consuming to accomplish. As with a lot of recordings in those heady days, the effort that was put in led to a very detailed refusal of what passed for music at the time. The two part title track is particularly harrowing, but some of the other nine pieces display peeks of the melancholy beauty Andrew is known for today. Superbly remastered by Denis Blackham from the original master tapes. Ltd x 500 copies in a mini-LP style sleeve with obi strip. |
JAAPORTIT - 'Jääportit' CD (Epidemie Records) - £11
Hailing from Northern Finland, Jääportit create dark and frostbitten melancholic music, embracing post-rock, electronics and ambient guitar compositions. Talented Finnish composer Tuomas M. Mäkelä, who is hidden behind the mysterious name Jääportit, brought his ambient project into being in 1997. His creation can be described as dreamlike and melancholic, evoking an atmosphere of abandoned frozen Nordic landscape. The musical expression of the project moves from clearly ambient to much more colourful and absorbed elements of many assorted styles, especially of post-rock and subtle Nordic electronics. Ltd x 300 hand-numbered copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
NATURAL SPIRIT - 'Under The Sickle Of Time' CD (Epidemie Records) - £11
Fourth album from this Ukrainian band. Eight tracks of melodic and very colourful pagan folk metal with male and female vocals. The overall atmosphere is of course complemented by several folk instruments (djembe, percussion, flute, niner, bandura, didgeridoo, whistles), but also viola, cello and trumpet. In addition to the usual three-member line-up, another 12 guest musicians and four choir members appear on the album. Everything is in a specific Eastern European spirit, exactly as only bands from these parts can do. Comes with a beautiful 20-page booklet with text in Ukrainian and English. |
RAPOON & PACIFIC 231 - 'Palestine' LP + CD (Zoharum) - £25
"Palestine" was the first collaboration between two titans of the industrial and underground music scene: Pierre Jolivet (Pacific 231) and Robin Storey (Rapoon, Zoviet France). Originally released as limited CD in 2007 by Old Europa Cafe and "Dedicated to the struggling Palestinian Nation and to the memory of Bryn Jones 1961-1999". Given that "Palestine" is dedicated to Muslimgauze and Israeli-Palestinian conflict it's easy to predict what you'll find here. Each side of the record presents the artists' take on middle eastern rhythms and sound. Side A is raw. For over 20 minutes Jolivet focuses on subtle processing over hypnotic distorted drum loops. On side B, Storey takes us on a long, IDM-ish trip following what seems to be Muezzin call. The accompanying extended CD contains additional 3 rare tracks that were taken from the limited Old Europa Cafe version of the album and Pacific's "el-Arish" business card CD. This album is as important due to the subject it touches as it's true and uncompromising and is still relevant now as it was in the time of its creation. Remastered by Robin Storey. Ltd x 300 copies on 180g transparent red vinyl, with CD in card sleeve. |
THY CATAFALQUE - 'Róka Hasa Rádió' CD (Epidemie Records) - £11
Hungarian act Thy Catafalque was born in 1998 as an epic black metal band. Since that time it has progressed to very original music that can be described as avant-garde post black metal / ambient / folk. Founders Tamás Kátai and János Juhász invited nine other musicians as guests to record a very unusual 70-minute album. Hungarian male vocals are complimented by the beautiful ethereal female voice of guest singer Ágnes Tóth (The Moon And The Nightspirit). |
YASNAÏA - 'Oniro' 2 x CD (Zoharum) - £15
An extended 2CD reissue of the classic album of dark rites, rhythmic tribalism and ethereal psychedelia, previously released by World Serpent in 1996. Yasnaïa (aka Leen Smets) was also vocalist of Hybryds until her departure in 2000. She takes us on a great journey through many states of consciousness and dimensions. Her haunting and hypnotising voice guides us through 10 tracks of chants and incantations, keeping us captivated to the very end. A sexual energy channelled in rhythm, driven magical tribalism. Exclusive to this release is a second CD containing a live performance recorded at Wolfsmond, Munich in August 1997 giving you a pretty good impression of how the whole ritual conducted by Yasnaïa might sound and look like. The CD ends with 3 tracks, two of which were previously released on 7" vinyl courtesy of Ant-Zen and Spectre (Nexus) and a third which was previously unreleased. A great testimonial of '90s art of industrial music: unparalleled and essential. Ltd x 500 copies in a 6-panel double digipak. |
VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Drone Islands - The Lost Maps' CD (Eighth Tower Records / Unexplained Sounds) - £11.50
Second volume in the Drone Islands series, after the 2019 collection "Drone Islands - Land Rising". "Drone Islands - The Lost Maps" continues Eighth Tower Records' deep explorations into the realm of "droning music". Alongside Cold Spring esoteric Industrial-drone stalwart TUNNELS OF AH, drone ambient music masters like Troum, Rapoon, Schloss Tegal and Autopsia (with Instinct Primal), and well known dark ambient projects like Alphaxone and Taphephobia, this volume presents experimentalists such Simon Balestrazzi (T.A.C., ex-Kirlian Camera), and TraumaTerrestrial, as well extremely interesting young musicians like Martyria, Gaspar Peralta, BedouinDrone, and Bloodkry. Solid realities and new promises is a sign of the best international drone music. Ltd x 200 copies in a digipak. |

BURIAL HEX 'Gauze' CD (CSR301CD) - £9
OUT TOMORROW!

 |
Horror Electronics and Phantasmagoric Post-Industrial usher in the brand new ritual offering from Burial Hex.
The impulse for Gauze is to be a prophylactic talisman and ward for the families directly involved with the Burial Hex project, though it can be effective for anyone who needs an extra layer of defense. The art, lyrics and sound were all layered together with supersensible content generated specifically for this purpose. Beyond just protection and defense, Gauze is an invitation to transcend sclerotic ways of experiencing incarnation, by freely juxtaposing increasingly divergent forms, and reconciling all with warmth and passion. Such has been the work of the Burial Hex project since its inception, striving towards a gestalt of timeless and enduring realms via a benign spiritual interaction with conflicting beings.
With Gauze we hear the mouths of Burial Hex spit in the face of those who would reduce psychic experience and spiritual feeling to material processes, penetrating the density of human denial and cracking the electronic shell which crushes much of our humanity.

GENESIS P-ORRIDGE & DAVE BALL 'Imagining October' (Dir. Derek Jarman) O.S.T. (CSR300LP) - £18
OUT 6th MAY
 |
The first ever release of the soundtrack to the rarely-seen DEREK JARMAN 1984 short film "Imagining October", with music recorded by Derek's friend and collaborator Genesis P-Orridge (PSYCHIC TV / THROBBING GRISTLE), and Dave Ball (SOFT CELL / THE GRID). Recorded at DJM recording studios in Theobalds Road, London.
Limited Edition 12" vinyl featuring a beautiful etched B-Side. Features liner notes by James Mackay (Jarman's producer, collaborator and archivist).
Derek Jarman put together a programme of films for the London Film Festival, reflecting the cutting edge of the London avant-garde of the time. Recorded at the same time as "The Angelic Conversation", "Imagining October" was filmed in the Eisenstein Museum in Moscow, Vladimir Mayakovsky's grave at Novodevichy Cemetery, the GUM department store facing red square, and the fire temples of Baku in Azerbaijan. The painting sequences with a group of soldiers (Angus Cook, Stephen Thrower (COIL), Peter Doig and Keir Wahid) was filmed in London. Jarman considered it one of the best, if not the best, of his shorter works. It was intended as an agit-prop work and the combination of music and imagery remains powerful to this day. |

"Du Y Moroedd" (Welsh - the black of the sea) is an album of abyssal dark ambient - environmental soundscapes and atmospheres from above, below and beside the ocean; field recordings made onboard vessels at sea; sounds from submerged recording devices deep underwater; recordings from the coasts of North Wales to Greenland and the Arctic Ocean.

LULL 'Moments' 2 x LP (CSR295LP)
OUT NOW!
 |
Isolationist, minimal, alienating Drone / Dark Ambient from Mick Harris (SCORN, FRET, ex-NAPALM DEATH). Staggeringly beautiful, glacial sub-bass sounds, deep ambient and thunderous tones, with subtle shifts. Originally released as a 99-track continuous CD in 1998 (Relapse), now presented on vinyl for the first time, "Moments" is expanded to 100 cuts, with bonus material from the original recording sessions.
"Tectonic rumblings and icy sound slivers move and swirl around each other, slipping into spaces between the molecules which make up your physical body and then break it apart in preparation for rearrangement. Moments of expansive emptiness and claustrophobic terror overlap one another and then overcome your mind as you journey through this bleak void of sound. At one moment warm and organic, the next, slowly slipping into a machine-like coldness to freeze and paralyze... Sound as a vehicle to bring you through that doorway towards dimensions previously unknown. Hypnotic and soothing with a lingering sense of dread throughout" (Carrion Kind).

GEORGE FENTON 'The Company Of Wolves' (Dir. Neil Jordan) O.S.T. LP (CSR299LP) - £22
OUT NOW!
 |
Out of print for over 35 years, the official soundtrack to the cult 1984 film by Neil Jordan is finally available once again on vinyl format. The surreal and effective film - a true gem of British Gothic fantasy horror - has an equally atmospheric, breathtakingly beautiful, surreal and unsettling soundtrack, scored by George Fenton.
The film itself, directed by Neil Jordan (The Crying Game, Breakfast On Pluto), and based on the screenplay by Angela Carter and Neil Jordan, is a modern allegorical adaptation of the classic Grimm fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood, symbolising sexual awakening, duality and liberation. The stellar cast features Sarah Patterson, Angela Lansbury, Stephen Rea, David Warner, and Danielle Dax.
"There is a sense of awe and enchanted wonder encaptured in its fairy tale sound, swooping with cascading violins and dark mysterious undercurrents that bubble below the surface... The score flows effortlessly between its light and dark moments. Most importantly, moments of beauty are not lost to the sense of suspense and drama. Indeed, light always needs its companion of shadow, as the film suggests in the sexual awakening of the pure untainted innocence that is Rosaleen. This score perfectly demonstrates the beauty of the juxtaposition between the sounds of youth and the temptation of desire" (L. Hammond).

MASONNA 'Frequency L.S.D.' LP (CSR297LP) - £20
LAST COPIES!
 |
Originally released on CD in 1998 (Alien8 Recordings), "Frequency L.S.D." is now presented on vinyl for the first time. Features 14 ear-wrenching, extreme Japanese Noise tracks from Maso Yamazaki (Controlled Death).
"Frequency L.S.D. is the best Masonna CD ever, and one of the top five noise albums of all time" (Matt Kaufmann, Exile Osaka).
Ltd x 400 copies on 180g black vinyl.
Maso Yamazaki: Voice, Microphone, EXPJ Ringmodulater, Colorsound Pedals, 60's Fuzz Noise Canister, Spectral Audio Analogsynth, Sherman Filterbank, Delay.
"The cult icon of Japanoise once again makes another proverbial anti-statement with his uniquely harsh blend of screams, feedback, and constantly changing blasts, rumbles and blips of sonic destruction... The main attraction of this release to new and old fans alike is the use of 60's psychedelia in the warped textures of sound laid out in each track. Instead of being treated to a barrage of uncontrolled, harsh, and maddening noise, we are treated to lengthy explorations into the joys of warped synthesizer repetition and digitally altered radio frequency loops... the best noise release put out by any artist and, after just one listen, it's not hard to hear why" (Chronicles Of Chaos). |

TREPANERINGSRITUALEN
'Veil The World' LP/CD (CSR205LP/CD)
OUT NOW!
 |
Vinyl edition of T x R x P's Swedish Ritual Industrial masterpiece, originally released 2011. Out of print since the 2015 CD edition, we're very proud to announce 'Veil The World' on vinyl for the first time, with new artwork by Thomas Ekelund (ᚦᛟᚦ ᚷᛁᚷ | Nullvoid). Ltd x 500 copies on bone white, 180g vinyl. Due to demand, we are also reissuing the CD edition in a digipak with the new 2021 artwork.
»All seals have been broken« proclaims a demonic voice on the titular track of Veil The World, and that is something terrifyingly evident in the music contained therein. On Veil The World, Trepaneringsritualen veers from crepuscular ritual moods to rabid death chants reveling, even celebrating the imminent end of flesh. Veil the World - originally released in a very limited and ultra-lavish box by Kosci Tapes in 2011 - marks the half-way point between the earlier, more atmospheric works of T x R x P, and the more visceral aggression of the later material.
Trepaneringsritualen explores themes of religion, magick and the hidden realms of consciousness, taking its musical cues from the old school of ritual ambient & death industrial. Rhythmic and seething at times, and oozing forward with a creeping sense of desolation at others, Trepaneringsritualen conjures forth bleak but mesmerizing visions of the end-times. |

SHE SPREAD SORROW
'Huntress' CD/LP (CSR282LP/CD)
OUT NOW!
 |
The new album by She Spread Sorrow (Alice Kundalini) is the story of a huntress and her morbid and psychotic relationship with her prey. The protagonist is Blue, a girl whose existence is marked by obsession with another woman of the same age and by nightmares that leave her without peace. Between love and psychosis, a tragic story is consumed, which vibrates in the stomach, like the music that accompanies it - dark and hypnotic death industrial, with moments of dark ambient, power electronics and noise.
Inspired by Kundalini's nightmares and her fervent world of dreams, "Huntress" was born after 3 years of intense recordings. It pursues the need to whisper secret, forbidden tales and to stimulate the deepest shadows of the human being, exploring the boundaries between the delicate and the violent; between love and obsession; between fantasy and madness.
"Huntress" is the soundtrack of a tragic game between opposites in a reality of total solitude.
LP on 180g vinyl in 350gsm sleeve. Ltd x 500 copies.

DET KÄTTERSKA FÖRBUND (Nordvargr + Trepaneringsritualen)
'Lidaverken Del I: Att i Vådeld Förgås' CD/LP (CSR265CD/LP)
OUT NOW!
 |
Cold Spring presents two Swedish titans - NORDVARGR (MZ.412) and ᚦᛟᚦ ᚷᛁᚷ (TREPANERINGSRITUALEN) - teaming up for a bludgeoning dose of Death Industrial majesty.
Det Kätterska Förbund, consisting of the two giants dominating the Death Industrial world - Thomas Ekelund (Trepaneringsritualen, Dead Letters Spell Out Dead Words) + Henrik Nordvargr Björkk (MZ.412, Pouppée Fabrikk, Folkstorm etc) - has been slowly and methodically working for almost 5 years to finish the first album of this double-headed abomination. Patience richly rewarded.
You can instantly feel the presence of lurking unease as the album slowly opens up a distorted world of familiar sounds and voices, but there is something special about these recordings; the menacing aura that has been created adds new elements to the otherwise rigid tropes of the genre. Punishingly heavy rhythmic tracks, with savage incantations from both Thomas and Nordvargr, gratifyingly familiar to fans of the artists' main projects, are flanked by these death-scarred lamentations.

NEIL CHANEY - 'Aura' CD (CSR296CD) £10.50
OUT NOW!
 |
We are very proud to release the original soundtrack by Neil Chaney to the British supernatural horror film "Aura" (aka The Exorcism Of Karen Walker). From the first notes, the incredibly evocative compositions feature huge swathes of cavernous Dark Ambient, with unsettling dark synths in the vein of the legendary '70's Italian Giallo horror. Quieter, and indeed sinister moments, are evoked by emotive strings, synths and piano, adding pathos and a melancholy atmosphere to the disturbing score.
Aura: A couple discover Kirlian Photography apparatus in their new house. Intrigued by the concept of photographing peoples' Auras they unwittingly release an ancient evil. Only the local psychic can help and she knows far more than she reveals. Aura stars: Rula Lenska (a darling of British TV), Shane Taylor (Band Of Brothers), Jeanine Nerissa Sothcott (Nemesis).
Composing film soundtracks since 2009, Neil Chaney was also the creative mind behind the cinematic dark ambient / fortean electronics act Satori (2007-2008 with Justin Mitchell), releasing their acclaimed album 'Kanashibari', and the EP 'Contemptus Mundi' (feat Magus Peter H Gilmore, High Priest of the Church Of Satan). He was also the creator of early 90's Industrial act Pessary.
Presented in a matt digipak. |

CONTROLLED DEATH (MASONNA) / MAYUKO HINO - 'Split' Picture Disc LP (CSR291P) £20
LAST COPIES!
 |
Two giants of the Japanese Noise scene present exclusive material on a special limited vinyl release.
Controlled Death is the nom de plume of Maso Yamazaki (MASONNA), who unleashed his claustrophobic Death Industrial / Blackened Electronics debut for Cold Spring last autumn (the sold out split LP with Rudolf Eb.er). "Devil's Sacrifice" (in 6 parts) continues Maso's obsession with heavy, Korg MS-20 drones. Deranged vocals choked under impenetrable, blood-soaked atmospheres of doom, death and decay, saturated with washes of anxiety, paranoia and alienation.
Mayuko Hino, 'Queen Of Japanese Noise', delivers two lengthy tracks. While the first track is filled with feverish, dense noise and swathes of savage electronics, the second, mind-melting electronic piece (reminiscent of her debut album 'Lunisolar' for Cold Spring) descends into a diseased, suffocating maelstrom, finishing on the verge of psychosis. In addition to self-made instruments, Mayuko plays noise with her six-theremin oscillators (in bright pink) - the one and only in the world, specially made by Ryo Araishi (a.k.a. ichion). Mayuko is most well-known for forming C.C.C.C. (Cosmic Coincidence Control Center) in 1990, together with Hiroshi Hasegawa, Fumio Kosakai and Ryuichi Nagakubo.
Picture disc LP. Ltd x 400 copies in a heavy PVC archive sleeve. |
