GENESIS P-ORRIDGE & DAVE BALL 'Imagining October' 12" Etched - Out 6th May:

"The heroism of revolution through the queered lens". We'e excited to release - for the first time ever on any format - the soundtrack to DEREK JARMAN's rarely seen 1984 film, with specially-commissioned music by GENESIS P-ORRIDGE & DAVE BALL. The film itself has only ever been shown a handful of times since it was made 38 years ago, and the soundtrack has quite the story, as beautifully told in the liner notes by James Mackay.

ALEISTER CROWLEY - 'All Words Are Sacred' MCD (Batrachian Recordings) - £8

A collection of spoken recordings made by Aleister Crowley, captured on wax cylinders between 1910 and 1914. Reissue of some of the only known recordings from the infamous occultist, mystic, magician, poet, novelist, sexual deviant, and all-around misfit, Aleister Crowley. Recorded onto wax cylinder in the early 1910s, and later transferred to 78 RPM discs. The tracks include Crowley's recitation of the first two Enochian Keys, original poetry, incantations, and songs. Intonations of black magic rituals as well as ruminations on topics from the sinking of The Titanic to American independence that will thrill collectors of the odd and mystical! An absolutely essential piece of occult history. Newly remastered. Presented in a 6-panel ecopak with specially-created artwork. Distributed in Europe by Cold Spring.

BASS COMMUNION - 'Sisters Oregon' CD (Aquarellist) - £15

Extended reissue of Bass Communion's 2017 10" vinyl release "Sisters Oregon" (Drone Records), with an extra 39 minutes of previously-unreleased material. Bass Communion could be regarded as Steven Wilson's (Porcupine Tree) discrete medium for manifesting his most daring, challenging and obscure musical ideas. After a planning phase of several years the studio material of Bass Communion is a wonderful, mysterious experimental drone / ambient work that is mainly based on a recording of a boys choir (Air Studio, London 2014). The four parts on the original 26-minute 10" are filled with sonorous drone expanses, tiny microsounds, deep bass eruptions and sudden breaks, ranging from an otherwordly subtleness to a most spacious finale, reaching a transcendental beauty of the highest degree. The bonus tracks here, titled "Sisters Extrapool Improvisations" were recorded at Frans De Waard's studio, Nijmegen, The Netherlands on 4th December 2014. Ltd x 500 copies in an outsized gatefold mini-LP sleeve, with cover photography and graphic design by Carl Glover for Aleph studio.

BLOD - 'ABBA' 2 x CD (Discreet Music) - £16

A massive new double album from Blod (not the noise project!). Despite the title, "Abba" is not an odd experimental nod to the Swedish pop megastars, but rather the latest "loner lo-fi ambient" opus from Gothenburg-based experimentalist Blod (Gustaf Dicksson of Enhet För Fri Musik). It was recorded in his garage in the summer of 2021 and was inspired by the idea of creating "warm feelings" through a period of longing, loneliness and isolation. The first CD (44 mins) mixes crackling, sampled and overheard conversations with noise-seeped organ melodies, distant piano motifs, ghostly synthesizer chords and lo-fi guitar improvisations, while the second CD (32 mins) is a sparse affair in which his own stripped-back instrumentation comes to the fore. It's a quietly emotive affair all told, whose mix of melancholia and occasional hope is both engaging and entertaining. Ltd x 300 copies with 12-page booklet and slipcase.

BRIGHTER DEATH NOW - 'Everything Is Gonna Be Alright' 10" (Cold Meat Industry) - £21

This little sweet 10" vinyl will start up 2022 with some positive vibes... Featuring 4 tracks recorded simultaneously with the new album "All Too Bad - Bad To All", "Everything Is Gonna Be Alright" will be a firm favourite for lovers of BDN's classic rhythmic Death Industrial sound. Includes the upbeat collaborative track 'Love Hard' which is recorded together with Stockholm synth punk project Isotope Soap, with Åsa Tedebro on vocals. "Yes we're all speaking östgötska! Remember: The Rule is NO!" Ltd x 500 copies on clear vinyl with postcard and download card.

FORMALIST - 'No-One Will Shine Anymore' CD (Toten Schwan) - £12

The Formalist unit was founded in 2014 when long-time associated individuals from the Italian heavyweights Forgotten Tomb (vocals), Malasangre (bass & drums), and Viscrea/// (guitars) joined forces with the aim to open new gates to total sonic horrors. Excelling in the art of low-tuned sickness, the band members forge together their many influences for their first full-length album. Featuring 3 epic songs over a nightmarish 40 minutes, extreme Doom, Black Metal, Sludge and Ambient/Drone are combined with a completely hostile, nihilistic approach to vocals and lyrics. Ltd x 500 copies in a 6-panel digipak.

MUSLIMGAUZE Vs CELTARABIA - 'Muslimgauze Vs Celtarabia' CD (Aquarellist) - £12

The tracks on this album are all Muslimgauze remixes of tracks from Celtrabia's first album, "The Lost Music of Celtarabia". In February 1996, World Music band Celtarabia played a sell out gig at Slaithwaite Civic Hall, West Yorkshire with support from DJ Simon Scott (Tandoori Space Records). They were joined on stage by Bryn Jones (Muslimgauze) who played a Darbuka with his painted red hands signifying his support for the Palestinian people. Reggae producer John Bolloten (The Rootsman) was also there and a great time was had by all on stage and afterwards. At the end of the gig Quentin Budworth gave Bryn Jones and John Bolloten a copy of "The Lost Music Of Celtarabia" CD which resulted in a series of collaborations, including The Rootsman Meets Celtarabia "Union of Souls". A mysterious DAT tape in a plain brown envelope also arrived with John Bolloten at Celtarabia's Third Eye Studio, containing album tracks remixed by Bryn Jones. Extremely gritty and fierce, the recordings are strangely beautiful. They reflect the bitter reality of life in Palestine, far removed from the dreamy Orientalism of the original Celtarabia tracks. Ltd x 300 copies in a 4-panel matt-laminated digipak.

SCANNER - 'Trawl' CD (Aquarellist) - £12

"Trawl" was originally released as a 12" vinyl in 1996 on the Chreode label, run by the late John Everall of Sentrax / Tactile. This extended reissue features four unreleased mixes (30+ mins of music, with material from the original recording sessions), plus additional mixes from MICK HARRIS (Scorn / Lull / ex-Napalm Death), and BILL LASWELL (Material / Painkiller / Praxis / legendary music producer). Trawl is a virtual alter collaboration of ROBIN RIMBAUD, aka Scanner. In stark contrast to the scanned ethernet soundscapes of the Scanner material, the work of Trawl focuses on the bass and the swinging hips music of the younger generation. Put down that Semiotexte pamphlet, wash up those coffee cups and throw on your rhythm clogs for a bout of hedonistic spinal assault. Electronica / Dub / Ambient. Ltd x 300 copies in a 4-panel soft touch laminated digipak.

SEWER ELECTION - 'Kassettmusik' LP (Fördämning Arkiv) - £20

April 2007. Moments captured and repeated in raw mono. Contact mic, cassette loops and cassette amplifier. Originally released as two private edition cassettes and then reworked for a CD release on iDEAL in 2008, "Kassettmusik" still stands out as one of Dan Johanssons' (Ättestupa, Heinz Hopf, Enhet För Fri Musik) most confounding and bold moments. Upon its release, the extremely minimal and restrained approach on the recording took a quite unexpected turn compared to the brutish harsh noise and 'Killing For' endeavours Sewer Election was known for at the time. Crude cassette loops of sparse electronics and body sounds with the fidelity of the disintegrated magnetic tape becoming an important piece of the two side-long compositions. Ltd x 500 copies with insert.

SEWER ELECTION - 'Psychic Panorama' CD (Discreet Music) - £12

For the best part of two decades, Sewer Election's Dan Johannson (Ättestupa, Heinz Hopf, Enhet För Fri Musik) has delivered oddball, mind-altering sonic journeys that variously touch on noise, experimental electronica, industrial music and wayward ambient. "Psychic Panorama", follows on from an even more limited 2021 cassette on Malign Editions. It repurposes some of the same undeniably psychedelic material - think loopy and trippy modular synthesizer sounds plus effects and concrete-clad, Brutishly cold industrial textures - while adding some previously unheard experiments from his Gothenburg studio. Odd and otherworldly electronic music. Ltd x 300 copies.

VISCERA/// - 'City Of Dope And Violence' MCD (Toten Schwan) - £8

A new take on the Italian atmospheric post-metal / psych-rock band's uncompromising sound which marks yet a new evolution in its post fueled, hallucinated sludge, grind minded vibe. C.O.D.A.V. represents a state of mind trapped in the boredom of a self-absorbed existence. C.O.D.A.V. is the voice of who is witness and victim of such situation, it represents the remorse of who could have done something about it, has done something about, yet nothing has changed. GERRITT & JOHN WIESE - 'The Disappearing Act EP' MCD (Misanthropic Agenda) - £7

It's John Wiese (ex-Bastard Noise, Smegma, Sissy Spacek) and Gerritt Wittmer (Deathroes) - brace yourself. This 20 minute EP sees the noise maverick working with the Misanthropic Agenda boss, hardly a shrinking violet himself, having gone head to head with Merzbow, D Yellow Swans and Sunn O))) in the past. "The Disappearing Act EP" starts out with two short, sharp shocks of mashed-up sound, jolts of electricity and the rush of what sounds like toxic gas escaping from a canister. The final track is a 15 minute fade up of unbearably caustic jet engine whine. Digipak.

GITANE DEMONE QUARTET - 'Past The Sun' CD (Dark Vinyl) - £11

There are a lot of known variables to the members of the Gitane Demone Quartet: the precision-punk chording of RIKK AGNEW (Adolescents / Christian Death / Social Distortion)... the dexterous textured and sophisticated keyboard work of PAUL ROESSLER (The Screamers / 45 Grave / Nina Hagen Band)... the nimble and persuasive percussion electronics of DEB VENOM (Aunty Trust)... and the fore, the voice like no other, the darkly compelling and poetic wailing of GITANE DEMONE (Christian Death / The Crystelles). Together they generate a unique sound seeming with vitality and rich in imagination that far outstrips the sum of its parts. Flirting with the most aggressive and surreal elements of each of their past projects, the quartet stirs a violent cauldron that splashes out far beyond parameters of any genre expected of them. ROEL MEELKOP - '5(Zwischenfälle)' CD (Auf Abwegen) - £11

This album by Dutch electronic musician Roel Meelkop (THU20, Kapotte Muziek, Goem) is a special release in his catalogue because it is consists of five pieces, originally used in the context of sound installations. Meelkop set himself the task to compress these soundscapes into five dense and still minimal audio pieces that could work outside the context of the original installations. "5(zwischenfälle)" makes for concentrated unpolished ultra minimal listening with maximum effect. For fans of Bernhard Gunter, Francisco Lopez or Marc Behrens. Ltd x 500 copies in a digipak, with artwork by Akifumi Nakajima (Aube).

TAPHEPHOBIA - 'Taphephobia' CD (Greytone) - £11

Norwegian maestro Ketilon (Mulm, ex-Northaunt) creates a bleak and secluded sound world. Featuring six looming movements of darkly, post-industrial, isolationist dark ambience in the pure Nordic shining coldness, mostly based on manipulated guitars. Taphephobia tries to get out the feelings he has at the moment when composing the music. The idea is to create an atmosphere that is sometimes scary, and sometimes beautiful, like a good thriller / drama movie. Taphephobia creates a skillful cinematic atmosphere, combined with personal feelings like fear, hope, hate, regrets. The main goal is to make the listener able to dream away with the music.
