The first ever release of the soundtrack to the rarely-seen DEREK JARMAN 1984 short film "Imagining October", with music recorded by Derek's friend and collaborator Genesis P-Orridge (PSYCHIC TV / THROBBING GRISTLE), and Dave Ball (SOFT CELL / THE GRID). Recorded at DJM recording studios in Theobalds Road, London.
Limited Edition 12" vinyl featuring a beautiful etched B-Side. Features liner notes by James Mackay (Jarman's producer, collaborator and archivist).
Derek Jarman put together a programme of films for the London Film Festival, reflecting the cutting edge of the London avant-garde of the time. Recorded at the same time as "The Angelic Conversation", "Imagining October" was filmed in the Eisenstein Museum in Moscow, Vladimir Mayakovsky's grave at Novodevichy Cemetery, the GUM department store facing red square, and the fire temples of Baku in Azerbaijan. The painting sequences with a group of soldiers (Angus Cook, Stephen Thrower (COIL), Peter Doig and Keir Wahid) was filmed in London. Jarman considered it one of the best, if not the best, of his shorter works. It was intended as an agit-prop work and the combination of music and imagery remains powerful to this day. |

"Until The Day I Die", the third album from Australian post-industrial outfit KOLLAPS, is a merciless and visceral assault on the senses and continues the trajectory of the band's idiosyncratic approach in their creation of sound. The album showcases an uncompromising force of harsh post-industrial music narrated by overarching themes of condemnation and redemption; of violence, romanticism, sexuality, and addiction. Much of the creation and lyrical conceptualisation of the record has been stylised and presented using William S. Burroughs' cut-up method.
A wide variety of metals and raw materials were used in the creation of the album including metal grates, a rusted hoist, cement cylinders, field recordings, hammering of various decrepit objects, broken amplifiers, an exposed reverb tank, various synthesizers, and the infamous metal coil; a crudely self-constructed artifice that has become iconic in its use across KOLLAPS' triptych of releases and lengthy touring history.

Occupying a halfway point between Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire without ever quite sounding like either. One of the most important underground releases of the early 80's.
The debut album "Ceza Evi" - featuring GENESIS P-ORRIDGE and IHAM on Tibetan Thigh-bone Trumpet - was released in June 1983, followed by a special edition later the same year, originally available only to readers of Nanavesh. This is the first proper release of both editions of those legendary experimental tape manipulations.

TenHornedBeast is back to its pounding Doom-Ambient roots and recorded his darkest album yet, as a sonic veneration of a medieval sculpture depicting the torment of the damned in Hell.
Five suitably monolithic pieces form a journey, starting with the first mortal death and ending with the second eternal death of the soul. The darkest textures and heaviest drones are way-markers on this journey; hymns to exalt the scenes shown on the stone.

 ANDREW LILES - 'Colossus (Amalgamation, Codicil & Appendix)' LP Cantaloupe (Dirter) - £18
"Colossus" was initially released as a download project that consisted of 50 tracks all of which were 50 minutes long. It was completed on 11th March 2019, the 50th birthday of Andrew Liles' (Nurse With Wound / Current 93). Part One and Two of the download version combined are over 41 hours of 'music'. The 'songs' are extreme, simple, complex, mellow, angular and often surreal adaptations of every UK Number One single from the last 50 years which fell on Liles' birthday. This LP version is an instrumental, edited and consolidated collection of all 50 tracks in chronological order cut into 50 second extracts. Cover photography by Davide Pepe.  ANDREW LILES - 'It's Only Pain' LP Purple (Dirter) - £21
All the lyrics used on this album were written by Andrew Liles' (Nurse With Wound / Current 93) father, Michael Liles. They were discovered when clearing out his spare room after his death in 2017. The poetry was written sometime in the late 70’s and has been given a life here. As with most Liles releases this recording covers a lot of styles, from heavy rock to psychedelia, and even a track that wouldn’t be out of place in a West End musical. It is a compelling album full of unlikely twists and turns, a unique homage to his father's memory and words. Contributions come from Karin Park, Faust's Jean Hervé Peron, ex-Mayhem frontman Maniac, and Mared Lenny (aka Swci Boscawen). Ltd x 250 copies (between random colour editions).  BAND OF PAIN / SRMEIXNER - 'Priti Deceit' 10" (Dirter) - £13
A much more obviously political approach is employed from this collaboration of two of the leading lights of the UK avant scene. Band Of Pain, fresh from recent collaborations with the likes of Faust and Nurse With Wound, go straight for the jugular with the scathing side long "Priti Vac*nt", whilst Contrastate's SRMeixner offers a more US based theme with "Deceit". Both artists contribute to all tracks and these pieces are shamelessly soaked in voice samples. An added 3rd track "The End Result", takes a more collaborative musique concrète approach. You'll never get a better souvenir of the hideousness of the Covid-19 years. "Idiosyncratic processing, heavily treated samples, noisy outbursts and even the occasional hint of rhythm feature heavily here, tempered with just the right amount of black humor... unsettling" (Brainwashed). A 35-minute lamentation of the perverse ideology of the English, shaped by sound collage and heavy electronics. Heaving drones of memory churn the decayed hum of modernism and the spiritual bus routes of the past. £40 million of military hardware flying low over the colonial jugular; the knifing wind off the Kentish coast, shearing through the tendons of Roman roads and Saxon shores. Through the record's mediation of these imagined pasts and displaced futures - the sinews of a settler class - the debilitating power of personal bereavement collides with the enervating deluge of a grieving national mythology. Post-industrial synthesis gives way to full-spectrum noise, and intrusive thoughts are excavated via aural saturation bombing. Shaped by collapsing signal chains and biting delays, "Leadlined" pores over the rapine chain of degeneration that is England. Through bricolage it attempts to come to terms with the inescapable, morbid nostalgia of the nation's psyche. In this impasse of postponed crisis, future horizons recede and misdirected resentments permeate all things. Degradation (Vinegar Tom and George Rayner-Law of Schwerpunkt) push these cold tones of clay and lead through networks of machinery and loss. Sounds are processed and reprocessed, field recordings swallowed and regurgitated through 35-year-old-hardware. Whispers crackle through a geiger pulse, modulated by municipal memory aides.  IGOR STRAVINSKY - 'The Rite Of Spring (Le Sacre Du Printemps)' LP (Dirter) - £19
A lovely vinyl presentation of one of the most influential classical works - heavily sampled by COIL on 'Horse Rotorvator' and other recordings, Foetus on 'Hole' and 'Nail' albums, not to mention a huge influence on film composer John Williams, especially the JAWS and STAR WARS soundtracks. This is the first release of a new Dirter subsidiary imprint, dedicated to releasing historical musical documents; "DTR Archive Recordings". Here Igor Stravinsky himself conducts his masterpiece, "The Rite of Spring (Le Sacre du Printemps)" with Walther Straram Concerts Orchestra, Theatre des Champs-Elysees, Paris, 1929. Yes, it can be done - wiping off the dust and polishing the sound for a new shine, whilst maintaining the integrity of the original recording. Painstaking steps were made to track the best possible audio down and get as close to the original as possible. Forget the dreadful over compressed CDs that we are all used to. Close your eyes and listen to this and you could be back, almost 100 years ago. These archive recordings cannot and should not be compared to modern day audio.  NADJA - 'Desire In Uneasiness' 2 x LP (Dirter) - £22
"Desire In Uneasiness" was originally released by Crucial Blast in 2008. The album is something of an anomaly in Nadja's catalogue as it features a live drummer, Jakob Thiesen, and there is no guitar on the album, with both Baker and Buckareff playing bass, each trading melodic and rhythmic lines. For this first vinyl edition of the album, the tracks were re-mixed and remastered for LP, plus an extended version of 'Affective Fields' was created. Ltd x 300 copies in a gatefold sleeve, with brand new art by Reverend Aitor (who also created the original CD art). "The album veers into murky dub-like territory reminiscent of some of the late-'90s "illbient" recordings... Drone disco? Post-metal industrial dub? Nekpωn Iaxeσ is Andrew Liles (Current 93 / Nurse With Wound) and Sakis Tolis (Rotting Christ). Andrew has been a fan of Rotting Christ for years and Sakis Tolis is a fan of Current 93 and Nurse With Wound, so, with a mutual appreciation for each other's work, it only seemed natural for them to work together. Nekpωn Iaxeσ was born. Lying somewhere between a menacing podcast and the rumble of the underworld, their debut album "The Oracles" is a disquieting journey. Entirely narrated in Greek by Sakis, the voice unravels and echoes into sonic tapestries that weave unfamiliar landscapes. The second album from Nox (Croatian artist Jurica Santek, also of Aegri Somnia, and Efil), follows in the footsteps of his previous "Opus Unending" album (Winter-Light, 2020). This is traditional dark ambient, with the focus still aimed on low, sub tones, edged with industrial and horror recordings. The music is still downtune and lo-fi, interspersed with harsh sounds and natural elements. "The main focus is on dark, isolationist soundscapes but also as music without distraction, that can be used as a background meditative for various purposes. The aim is to reach a fluid dark atmosphere that is pleasant and meditational to listen to, but that is also having dark and unnerving moments". Ltd x 200 copies in a matt gatefold digisleeve. |
 NURSE WITH WOUND - 'Salt Marie Celeste - Salt' 2 x CD (Dirter) - £16
A welcome re-release, as an expanded version, of one of Nurse With Wound's most notable albums. Originally recorded in 2002 by Steven Stapleton and Colin Potter, the piece 'Salt' was a limited edition release to accompany an exhibition of Stapleton's artwork at The Horse Hospital in London. The following year "Salt Marie Celeste" was released as a single 61-minute long piece of haunting, droning atmospheric sound that manages to be both minimal and maximal at the same time. A parade of strange, often unlikely, sounds appear and disappear during the voyage from Z to A. Described by many as being one of the most unsettling and/or engaging NWW recordings, it went on to feature in many "albums of the year" lists of 2003. This edition comes with 'Salt Marie Celeste' on disc one and 'Salt (Music From The Horse Hospital)' on disc two.  RAMLEH - 'Hole In The Heart' 2 x LP + 7" (Dirter) - £32
On its initial release in 1987, Hole in the Heart was a radical reinvention of Ramleh. The band had split in 1984 after two years of power electronics noise assaults and it was assumed this would be more of the same. Listeners were in for a shock though. Gary Mundy, the sole survivor from earlier line-ups was a big fan of the writer Jean Genet and had been deeply upset to hear of his death and had recorded a four track solo tribute called "Hole In The Heart" using lyrics inspired by the book Funeral Rites but decided to release it as Ramleh. Musically it was a mix of trebly psychedelic guitar, noise, mournful hymn-like keyboards and distorted vocals with no obvious influences. It is often described as one of the best power electronics records of all-time but isn't really a power electronics record at all; rather post-power electronics. It was released on cassette only on Broken Flag. Over the years the tracks - especially the important classic 'Product Of Fear' - were shared between fans, and through word of mouth people began to talk about these recordings as being in some way special. In 2009 Dirter brought all of the tracks together on a now sought after double CD. 13 years on, the double vinyl version is finally here. The tracks have been reordered to put the original 4 tracks on the first disc where they belong. "Hole In The Heart" sounds like no other record by Ramleh or anybody else and has taken on a life of its own far from the largely-ignored cassette-only 1987 release.  AJNA & ONASANDER - 'Canidia' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50
New York's Ajna & Italy's Onasander join forces to create a dark and brooding soundtrack to one of the most highly attested witches in Latin Literature: Canidia. Canidia is considered Rome's first witch and had perpetrated acts of grave desecration, kidnapping, murder, black magic, and poisoning to name but a few. She is most known for being mentioned in the poems of Horace, where she has a prominent role of a demon-like figure. There is much mystery and speculation as to whether Canidia may be a myth or an actual historical figure. These tracks evoke the heinous deeds of Canidia the Witch, propelling the listener into her ancient world of nightmarish deeds and mystery. "Canidia is a haunting and cinematic excursion... the listener is taken into a soundscape in which dark winds from unknown sources blow debris through a windswept village at night... claustrophobic and tense throughout. Musically speaking, it is a return to some of the atmospheres we heard on albums like "Il Signor Gustavo Coscienza" or "La Memoria di Venere", showcasing an acoustic approach and their usual poems that are simply stunning. |

Giuseppe Verticchio (Nimh, Twist of Fate, Hall of Mirrors, Maribor) and Davide Del Col (Antikatechon, Molnija Aura, Echran) start this new cooperative plan to search a different, but parallel music universe to those previously explored. Among flowing ambient atmospheres, shoegaze echoes, nearly rock progressions, more inner and crepuscular suggestions, alternating in an unusual mix of field recordings, ethereal synthetic textures, now acoustic now arpeggiated guitars, then dilated and reverberated, then expressed in bass and drums hypnotic rhythmic sections rested on leading distorted electric riffs. |

 MASONNA - 'Hate' 2 x LP (Urashima) - £28
This 1995 outing by MASONNA (here as Mademoiselle Anne Sanglante Ou Notre Nymphomanie Auréolé), was released by his own Coquette label on cassette in an edition of just 15 copies with handmade covers, composed of different materials and inserted in transparent envelopes. The album "Hate" features one of Masonna's most exciting and extraordinary work. By deploying stripped down microphone-and-scream foundations, Masonna's ingenious sonic palette and his unerring sense of rage are cast in thrilling, clear-eyed relief. The use of pedals and effects overwhelms the vocalizations that are practically not heard and creates an irresistible tension, layering a dazzling array of rich sonic colours, hard fragments, and unsettling timbres over the sort of taut psychedelic feedback used in Kosmische Musik and the echo of Tangerine Dream's masterpiece "Zeit" ring out in the grooves of the double vinyl reissue. The polarities are pronounced and brilliantly assembled, injecting even the most rough brushwork with an inescapable air of suspense; it's a real gem, deftly balancing harsh noise and otherworldly effects. The musical realization is a mixture of Dark Ambient and Post-Industrial, and is very reminiscent of the early CMI releases (Sophia, Raison D Etre, BDN), as well as Phallus Dei's "Pontifex Maximus".
