DREW DANIEL (MATMOS) / JOHN WIESE (SISSY SPACEK) - 'Continuous Hole'
CD £9.50 - out 23/06

This collaborative album by Drew Daniel (Matmos, The Soft Pink Truth) and John Wiese (Sissy Spacek, Smegma, LHD,) is the fruit of over 10 years of recordings in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Baltimore.
"Continuous Hole" melds improvisation and musique concrète composition into a uniquely sweaty document of labour-intensive rhythm document of labour-intensive rhythm. A finger puzzle of reconciled opposites: lockstep structure and constant flux.
Relentlessly variable source material is relegated to precisely timed gated forms and patterns. Without using any sampling or MIDI sequencing, the rhythmic cuts are constructed entirely from volcanic, gnarled abstraction, and eschew typical genre elements.
Raw yet precise, from mayhem to menace, this is a album of strong contrasts from two American artists discovering common ground in the joy of frenzied cutting. Our personal favourite is 'Abhorred Shears', which reminds of the cut-up works of COIL's LSD yet remains utterly unique.
A prolific recording artist and visual artist with an extensive discography under his own name, and with noise stalwarts Sissy Spacek, John Wiese is currently based in Cleveland. One half of the electronic band Matmos and all of The Soft Pink Truth, Drew Daniel is based in Baltimore.
Mastered by Thomas Dimuzio. Presented in a matt-laminate 6-panel digipak with photography by John Wiese. The cover photograph was shot by John Wiese in Drew Daniel's office on the campus of Johns Hopkins University where Daniel is a Shakespeare professor.

B.E.F. (post-HUMAN LEAGUE / pre-HEAVEN 17) - 'Music For Stowaways'
LP Electric Blue £23 - out now!

Second - and final - reissue of seminal early 1980's electronic recordings from the British Electric Foundation (B.E.F.), aka HEAVEN 17 / ex-THE HUMAN LEAGUE's Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh, with Adi Newton (CLOCK DVA / THE FUTURE), and John Wilson (HEAVEN 17), originally a cassette-only release (1981).
• Ltd x 500 copies on 180g Electric Blue LP (Cold Spring only)
Also available: LP Black £23 | CD £12
Following two groundbreaking albums ('Reproduction' and 'Travelogue'), the original line-up of Sheffield-based The Human League split in half in late 1980. The two primary musicians in the group, Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh, formed a new production company - the British Electric Foundation (B.E.F.) - and signed a deal with Virgin Records to write and produce up to six albums a year. The artists they were to produce would include Heaven 17, their own new band formed with vocalist Glenn Gregory.
B.E.F. would also release their own material, commencing with the music on this collection, which was issued in various permutations in 1981-82. Its initial release in March 1981 was a limited edition numbered eight song cassette entitled 'Music for Stowaways', with 'Stowaways' being a reference to the original name for the then-new Sony portable cassette player - later renamed the Walkman - of which B.E.F. were great fans. 'Music for Stowaways' was intended to be listened to on such a device. The cassette was followed by a seven song LP, 'Music For Listening To', which had a slightly different tracklisting, while other B.E.F. music was utilised for B-sides of early singles by Heaven 17.
This music was among the first recorded by Martyn and Ian directly after their departure from The Human League. Some tracks had evolved from other recordings they were working on at the time, such as 'Groove Thang' - an instrumental version of the debut single by Heaven 17 - and 'The Old At Rest', which derived from a version of 'Wichita Lineman' by Jimmy Webb, their very first recording with Glenn that would subsequently appear on B.E.F.'s 'Music of Quality and Distinction, Volume One' covers album in 1982.
Supporting musicians on 'Music For Stowaways' included Adi Newton of Clock DVA (who had been a member of The Future with Martyn and Ian pre-Human League) on the track 'Uptown Apocalyse', with John Wilson (who provided incredible guitar and bass for Heaven 17) appearing on 'Groove Thang'.
The innovative sounds heard on 'Music For Stowaways' were an inspiration to many aspiring electronic artists. In 2015, Uncut magazine included it in a list of the '50 Greatest Lost Albums of All Time'.

VA 'Музыкальное Приношение' (Musical Offering) - out now! | CD £11

Available on CD (or any other format) for the first time outside USSR, Soviet composers perform their works on the legendary ANS synthesizer.
Recorded in 1971, "MUSICAL OFFERING" is 6 tracks (42 mins) of experiments on the unique machine by: Eduard Artemiev (2 tracks), Oleg Buloshkin, Sofia Gubaidulina, Edison Denisov, and Alfred Schnittke.
"MUSICAL OFFERING" demonstrates a 'musical' machine unlike any other and has long fascinated cutting edge, modern electronic composers, notably COIL and THE ANTI GROUP COMMUNICATIONS (TAGC) / CLOCK DVA, that have both released recordings utilising the ANS.
Try to imagine a score sounding by itself without a conductor; an orchestra without musical instruments. This magic is possible by using the musical ANS synthesizer. Created by Soviet scientist Evgeny Murzin over the course of 20 years, ANS is an instrument with which a composer can not only create but also draw their music without notes. You can see the twinkling of different lamps, the rotation of grooved glass discs... The drawings on the glass are 'sounding notes'. To listen to the drawn picture, press the button and a wonderful transformation will begin.
Murzin dedicated his photoelectronic apparatus to Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin (ANS), the creator of the 'Poem of Ecstasy', and a famous explorer of synesthesia.
These tracks have only ever been available on an LP pressed by the state-run Soviet Union label Melodiya over 30 years ago. Soviet music lovers will already know recordings made on ANS from Tarkovsky's films Solaris, The Mirror, and Stalker, Konchalovsky's film Siberiade, and others.
Presented in a digipak with the new artwork by Abby Helasdottir (who also created the compelling promo video), complimenting the ANS process perfectly.

The ultimate deep listening experience from two masters of dark ambient. A slow descent into the blackened watery abyss, where light cannot reach.
The first Sleep Research Facility release since 2012's "Stealth" (Cold Spring). Inspired by the deep sea ocean floor, the Canadian-based composer explores notions of awareness and perception in the sub/unconscious listener. The material was created specifically for this release.
Taking inspiration from the beautiful, but often harsh landscapes and environments of his home on Anglesey, North Wales, Llyn Y Cwn has built on the nautical theme of "Du Y Moroedd" (Cold Spring). These tracks are based on field recordings relating to the ocean, and could be seen as a companion piece to the album.
Ltd LP on audiophile black vinyl. CD in mini-LP sleeve, replicating LP design. Features a separate front cover design with individual art for each side.

The new album from 400 LONELY THINGS, produced by WILLIAM BASINSKI, is a dark ambient, sample-based séance to the Banning Mill - a real-life decaying "mansion" and haven for artists, freaks and misfits in the backwoods of the American Deep South in the 1970s-1990s - and an extraordinary piece of art that lived there.
An archaeological excursion in found sound - wandering through the art and memory of a real place, "Mother Moon" is an origin story for 400 Lonely Things. An imaginary soundtrack to the many years of solitude Richard Scott Hill's Minotauress spent hanging in the musty, secret winding halls of Banning Mill.
Melancholic instrumentals with weathered sampling at its core.
Presented in a 6-panel spot-varnished digipak.

The first new album in 14 years from LULL - the pioneering, isolationist dark ambient project of MICK HARRIS (SCORN, FRET, ex-NAPALM DEATH).
"I finally heard the way of recording, making profound sounds. Lull is purely something I can get lost in, as far as trying to create these imaginary spaces.
LULL is quite natural for me. It's an extension of me. Drifting. Just going to darkness. Into a space. LULL is drifting and droning, discovering more and more what can be done with sound. These soundscapes hugely appeal to me".
CD in a matt digipak with majestic artwork by Abby Helasdottir (Gydja).

A history lesson, recorded in autumn 1989. Unavailable for over 20 years in any format, "Malfeitor" is the classic album from Swedish Black Industrial act Maschinenzimmer 412.
This is evil incarnate, staring into the abyss. With a more lyrical approach than the predecessor "Macht Durch Stimme", "Malfeitor" explores themes of death, with an unequivocal dystopian outlook.
Cavernous heavy industrial, primitive machine rhythms, and cold metallic loops created on old synths with very little post-production. Originally released on LP in 1989 (CMI) this monumental album is now available for the first time since 2001. Also available on digital for the first time ever!
Mastered from the original 4-track tapes.
Matt-laminate digipak with new artwork.

The third album from the Australian post-industrial outfit is a merciless and visceral assault on the senses. An uncompromising force of harsh post-industrial music created with a wide variety of metals, raw materials, metal grates, a rusted hoist, cement cylinders, field recordings, hammering of various decrepit objects, broken amplifiers, various synthesizers, and the infamous metal coil. Much of the creation and lyrical conceptualisation of the record has been stylised and presented using William S. Burroughs' cut-up method.
Mastering: James Plotkin. Art: Nullvoid (T. Ekelund | Trepaneringsritualen).
CD in 6-panel digipak || LP in reverse board sleeve and printed inner lyric sleeve.

ABSCHEU - 'Creed' CD (Tesco Organisation) - £12.50
Known for previous releases on Unrest Productions, this is the brand new album for Abscheu. The quest for common destiny and noble values has given way to an obsession with change at all costs. The cult of the deconstruction and short-term projects favour the reign of competition and transform citizens into hunters or prey. The present has become an industry producing petrified individuals, haunted by the fear of insecurity.
In the midst of this war of all against all, stand men whose belief in strength and generosity are acts of resistance. Through these men, "Creed" tells us the story of a rude awakening that foreshadows the advent of a cultural revolution. Power electronics / industrial, for fans of Genocide Organ etc. 6-panel digipak. |
AM NOT - 'Cold + Disloyal' 2 x CD (Unrest Productions) - £17.50
UK Power Electronics / Industrial act AM NOT present ten new songs about dispossession, disembodiment and dissolution for another ice age. The prudent and sovereign unchain themselves from the social zombie and head for the exit. They liquidate anachronisms and reshape matter into objects of pure fluid desire extending the human project beyond the limits of death and flesh. For The losers and left-behinds, nothing remains of what they were once forced to share as they face a future among the ruins. They tear it all down in their impotent fury, the heat from a dying sun making them ever more sick. No exit, no voice, no loyalty. So dissipate and grow cold as Antarctica, the Seabed and the asteroid belt. Fortune favours those who calculate. Cold by nature and cold by destination. Guests: Abscheu, Alice Deptiva, Ever Orchid, and Hermann Kopp. Comes in a glossy 6-panel double digipak with 8-page booklet.

AM NOT - 'Unpunished' LP (Unrest Productions) - £23
The vinyl reissue of the long out of print classic AM NOT album "Unpunished". Originally released by Unrest Prods in 2015 as a CD-only edition, the audio has been remastered for vinyl by Eric Trude. "One the strongest newcomers to the UK industrial/ power electronics scene...With the expert blending of clean and clinical programmed elements with rougher and more chaotic sound sources, "Unpunished" is infused with a direct and focused approach... Am Not have built upon the foundations of power electronics and industrial and have twisted them into a sound of their own" (Noise Receptor). Ltd x 300 copies on 180gm vinyl with hand-numbered insert, with graphics reformatted by Si Clark.

AMPSCENT - 'Ampscent' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
Ampscent's debut album is a truly explosive mix of unconventional styles, escaping rigid definitions. This multi-disciplinary duo focuses on using the contemporary electronic music landscape to select and redefine the notion of noise and failure as a desirable factor. Their music is based on cold yet powerful, consistently rousing tones and multi-layered lasting tensions while remaining in a kind of remote territory. The sonic resonance that emerges from it is repulsive and elevates towards alienation - using industrial and noise signatures, but at the same time moving towards contemporary club connotations. To the extent that Ampscent uses equipment, its disregulation and choking reveals an attempt to identify the act of listening as a potentially uncomfortable space. Catharsis and relief come after trauma. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak with booklet. |
DERNIÈRE VOLONTÉ - 'Cristal' LP BLACK (Silences Et Gresillements) - £26
Dernière Volonté's ninth album comes three years after the highly acclaimed "Frontière". Ten new tracks of bright and gloomy electronics at its best. "Ceremonial synthwave with humble and powerful melodies... seemingly more austere martial rhythms, "Cristal" is another personal album for the band. The themes touch on loneliness, the passage of time, the emotional roller-coaster of personal relationships. The mighty synth melodies hit all the right chords and the (by now) signature minimal rhythms make sure we are eased into each song... there are areas of great emotional tension in the lyrics, which are sonically illuminated by the lightness of the synth melodies... From an industrial sensuality to a synthwave one, the darkwave, cinematic, industrial staccato of "Frontière" has now taken the form of synth-based melancholic melodies... There can be no comparison between the generosity, almost unconscious kindness, of the feelings that melody awakens and those that the 'colder' industrial rhythms resurface" (Blaue Rosen). Dedicated to Albin Julius (1967 - 2022). Black vinyl with download card. |

FOMALHAUT + NIMH - 'From The Longest Winter' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
Giuseppe Verticchio aka NIMH is a true veteran of the Italian experimental scene. He has been composing music since the mid-1990's under that nomiker, as well as LHAM, Hall Of Mirrors, Twist of Fate and Maribor. Having made previous collaborations with Maurizio Bianchi, Amon, Mauthausen Orchestra, and Rapoon (to name but a few), on this occasion we get an album recorded in an Italian-Polish tandem. "From The Longest Winter" was recorded with the participation of the Fomalhaut, established by dark ambient musician and writer Tomek Borowski. This genre is only the starting point for establishing a dialogue between the two artists, based on musical variations, exploration of various genres and sound experiments in order to build a narrative, imposing the right rhythm and atmosphere characteristic of this album. Collected in this way, the musical material contained here illustrates the states and emotions accompanying the entire process of its creation, inscribed in a specific time and space. Ltd x 250 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve. |
GENOCIDE ORGAN - 'MaunduNi-Mau' LP (Tesco Organisation) - £28
Much sought-after album from the Power Electronics / Death Industrial legends, repressed after quickly selling out earlier this year. After "KwaZulu-NaTal" and "UmKhonto-We-Siz We", Genocide Organ closes the Afri-KaN-Triangle with "MaunduNi-Mau". It took about 10 years for G.O. to come back from the heart of darkness. In the elapsed time, body parts and remains were counted. There were too many corpses. Unfortunately, not everyone came back. Nothing is forgotten, no-one lives in secret, some sounds reverberate only in the brain. "This document tells of the time as we experienced it, we don't give a sh*t about what is said about it today. The memory lives in us as and we don't allow it to be rewritten afterward". Ltd x 250 copies with hand-numbered insert. |
HIMUKALT - 'Dreaming Of A Dead Girl' CD (Tesco Organisation) - £12.50
CD reissue of the 2021 vinyl-only album (Tesco). Himukalt was born from the obsession, addiction, and the impure thoughts of American noise artist Ester Kärkkäinen. Her impulse for self-destruction, co-mingles with self-discovery, as she confesses broken tales about sex work, manic-depression, social anxiety, dysphoria and psychic parasites. She swaddles those appropriations from her life and those around her in the aestheticized violence of power electronics and a death industrial negativity, similar to that of Lille Roger, or Atrax Morgue. If facets from Kärkkäinen's earlier albums gave you a glimpse of seeing the world of sex workers, "Dreaming Of A Dead Girl" lets you inside to feel their world. Clandestine, this is a door you close behind you. Through torment and despair, in darkness, a finality dissolves through hope. Metallic fluttering and empty thuds of disregarded heartbeats transmute sounds at times more substantive than the soiled words you are hearing. Yet, in the end, through all the purring, scrambled anxiety, I feel like the defiled have assumed control. Even if just by mentally disconnecting from the physical acts and escaping back, all alone, to a fractured inner psyche "an agony that tore her in two". 6-panel digipak with additional artwork. |
JOE COLLEY - 'Acting As If' 10" (Substantia Innominata / Drone Records) - £16
Joe Colley (Crawl Unit) is a master of using mechanical object sounds and electronic static, but also strange lo-fi found sources and field recordings, creating alienating, surrealistic effects, similar to the likes of Small Cruel Party, Jim Haynes, Das Synthetische Mischgewebe, or even the more experimental side of Zoviet France. His newer compositions are filled with electro-magnetic hummings, strange hissing and the pourings of metallic objects as a basis, but you never find the use real instruments, synths, or masses of effect procession. Thus a very own scent of mystery appears, as all of these radiations are not really from this planet, without any "cosmic" connotations. For the creator, these sounds are connected with unreal emotions of "Being Lost", a mistrust in what may be called reality, and a general feeling of alienation. You can only wonder how this can result in such beautiful droning expanses. Through these strange 30 minutes of drones, the mind is thrown inside an unrecognizable and confusing realm of broken electricity and something like audible-made atmospheric pressure. "His swarming masses, throttled rumbling, and smoldering tension are all encircling and folding in on themselves. Rhizomes of sound that speak poison. Drink up, if it doesn't kill you, it will only make you stronger" (Jim Haynes). Ltd x 300 copies with artwork by MEEUW, featuring special silver print on reverse board sleeve. |
MOLJEBKA PVLSE - 'The Distant Past Resounds' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
For this new album, Moljebka Pvlse consisted of four musicians: founder Mathias Josefson, handling all the electronics, was joined in turn by Isabel Fogelklou, who rejoined the ranks of the Scandinavian drone / ambient project, recording her harp parts, as well as Hara Alonso on piano and Kris Kuldkepp on double bass. The contribution of each of these artists left its mark on the final shape of "The Distant Past Resounds", which to some extent is a continuation of last years album "Borrowed Scenery". However, thanks to the use of richer instruments, the involvement of each of the participants of the recording session, whose input translated into richer arrangements, leading to even bolder stylistic journeys and the diversity of the entire composition. All this makes the latest material of Moljebka Pvlse an interesting story, outlined in a very expressive way so as to release a whole palette of colors, moods and emotions from the sound matter, allowing you to lose yourself even deeper with each subsequent listening. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
SONOLOGYST - 'Electrons' CD (Unexplained Sounds) - £12
Sonologyst celebrates ten years of working under this banner with the expanded reissue of a digital-only release from 2016. The music was recorded using analogue synthesizers, finding inspiration in the world of electrons. "His music is very much in the realm of experimental electronics, in which we find traces of pure drone music, early electronics and on "Electrons" also a bit of noise. The latter he keeps to a minimum, and it works more in the background, adding weight to some of the more upfront delicacies. Even if I take a more romantic notion of electrons, I see this as a work of buzzing and whirring electronics cobbled together and forming a web of its own... You see a general pattern, but there are smaller threads, making new connections that only become apparent later on. There might be a retro feeling here; I am thinking of an old science fiction movie in black and white and Sonologyst providing the rusty soundtrack of it. Dark and reflective, but no doubt, space music. A man shrunk to an invisible size and walked down machines where everything cable and knob was alive. More than the previous works from Sonologyst, field recording seem to play no role, and it is all pure electronics... a damn fine album" (Vital Weekly). Remastered and featuring a new track, "LHC" recorded specificially for this reissue. Ltd x 200 copies in a digipak. |
THAT'S HOW I FIGHT - 'Movement Two' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
"Movement Two" picks up where That's How I Fight's debut album left off. Along the way, the band expanded their line-up and merged into one organism over numerous sessions to even bolder embed improvisation as the main raw material from which their music is woven. With the use of the existing instrumentarium, expanded by using samplers, synthesizers or the accordion, and using their rich sound qualities, the musicians managed to record compositions of a slightly ethereal, airy nature and sometimes deeply remembered. Everything here is refined down to the smallest inch, so that even the smallest sound that gently fills the space seems to be an equally important element of a larger whole. Not without significance here is the sound, giving the whole final shape, but it is the rich arrangements that make the album special, inviting many hours of continuous discovery with each subsequent listening. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
THE BLACK MAGHREB - ''HOW' 7" (Tesco Organisation) - £15
Subtitled "Campaigns of Death and Martyrdom", HOW is the debut EP of the anonymous act from Indonesia that studies the relationship between repressed ideological beliefs and the desire to expand and to subjugate others through short, cold, and punishing Power Electronics. Recorded in mid-2018, it was privately distributed as a tape among their close circle before getting this proper release. Created using field recordings and tape manipulation, the EP focuses on psychological deprivation; a sound of torture inside a 4×4 black site cell, survival of endless abuses, and the lost of senses and total freedom. In the end it's a victory, but at what cost? The Black Maghreb is indeed an embodiment of an ideological struggle that underpins the hostile nature of mankind, as the true invasive species. Ltd x 250 copies with 4 inserts. |
VIDNA OBMANA - 'Dante Trilogy: Tremor . Spore . Legacy' 3 x CD (Zoharum) - £18
Working for almost 25 years as Vidna Obmana, Dirk Serries has never shied away from challenges. When he was offered a record deal with the renowned metal label Relapse Records / Release Entertainment, Vidna Obmana took his boldest step ever. With his 'Dante' trilogy he created his most ambitious, daring and unique set of albums which made him one of the most unique voices in the ambient and experimental scene at his creative peak. Not only did this bring Vidna Obmana to a definite conclusion but executed that perfect fusion of everything his project stood for since the first release in 1984. His industrialism, the minimal ambience, the fourth world explorations and his electronic processing experiments went into blender. Utterly surreal, intense and expansive, the three albums "Tremor", "Spore" and "Legacy" conceptually express Dirk Serries' frustration, disappointment and creative turmoil as his role as Vidna Obmana in the ambient scene. This trilogy became that end of the road for probably his most critically-acclaimed and worldwide appreciated project but a change was necessary. These albums solidified his connection to the metal and heavier guitar scene and the next chapter in Serries' obsessive quest for that sublime in sound and mood was born: Fear Falls Burning. Now fully remastered, making every complex detail stand out even more, the music (according to Vidna Obmana), was especially recorded to experience on a qualitive set of headphones. Ltd x 400 copies in an 8-panel triple digipak with breathtaking photography by Martina Verhoeven. |

VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Deep Red: A Tribute To The Cinema Of Dario Argento' CD (Eighth Tower Records / Unexplained Sounds) - £12
Ever since his heart-stopping directorial debut "The Bird With The Crystal Plumage" (1970), cult Italian director Dario Argento has been redrawing the boundaries of cinematic horror with flamboyant violence, feverish plotting, and deliriously stylized compositions. Argento was initially associated with giallo, the pulpy Italian subgenre he helped formalize and later take to unprecedented heights with his international breakthrough, "Deep Red" (1975), and subsequent hit "Suspiria". He embraces a gamut of fantastical influences - from sublime Gothic art and penny dreadfuls to Murnau, Hitchcock, and Disney with his distinctively baroque style of disorientating cinematography, stained-glass colourwork, a seductive deep dive into our dark psychologies, and elaborate musical scores (often composed by his own rotating house group, Goblin). As far as horror film directors go, few are more influential and prolific than Dario Argento. To celebrate the cinema of Argento, worldwide artists give musical interpretations of his movies and his "dark giallo" universe: Previously unreleased music by: Michael Bonaventure, Grey Frequency, Rapoon, Joel Gilardini, 400 Lonely Things, David Strother & Carl Royce, Gianluca Becuzzi, Kloob, Mario Lino Stancati, Arrighi-Bocci-Fontana-Lepore, and Pluhm. BRANDKOMMANDO - '1989' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
The latest album of BRANDKOMMANDO, one of the most important Polish Power Electronics projects. As in the case of previous publications, here we are dealing with a kind of concept-album referring to a specific topic. "1989" is dedicated to testimonials of history that took place in that year in Romania, when the oppressed community opposed the dictatorship of Nicolae Ceausescu and his wife, leading to the capture, quick trial and express execution of the sentence. The blue-yellow-red flag with the insignia of the country's communist party cut out became the symbol of these bloody, but very important, changes in Romania.
Ltd x 250 copies in an ecopak. |
GENOCIDE ORGAN - 'Mind Control' CD (Tesco Organisation) - £12.50
"Mind Control" was the 3rd official full-length release of Genocide Organ, released in 1995. At that time released in a vinyl edition of only 490 copies (Tesco 025). "Mind Control" features a lot of well known G.O. classics in their studio versions. This release stands out in the band's history in its minimal approach but also being the 1st "studio" recorded album. The track 'Murder' was left out the original master due to its length and is featured here for the first time. Debossed digipak with spot-varnishing. |
GENOCIDE ORGAN - 'The Truth Will Make You Free' CD (Tesco Organisation) - £12.50
20 years after "The Truth Will Make You Free" saw light for the first time, this last brick in the wall of Genocide Organ's back catalogue gets reissued. First released in 1999 as a vinyl only release, Tesco now offers this album in the recognisable art-style that all Genocide Organ records are now presented. "The Truth Will Make You Free" is an album yet to discover featuring many dark rhythmic industrial pieces filled with the agony of a dying world. All the confessions made there were true and the presence proved them right. The Truth will be twisted and turned around as often as someone whilst it and then it becomes a lie and suddenly the lie becomes truth just to turn lie again. Debossed digipak with spot-varnishing. |
GENOCIDE ORGAN - 'Under-Kontrakt' CD (Tesco Organisation) - £12.50
Recorded back in 2005, but with a message still relevant today, the world is challenged by well-known old patterns and presumed economic reasons. That of military contractors - whether it has been the Cretian archers, the Celtic cavalry, the Germanic body guards, the Swiss guard, religiously-motivated soldiers, Spartans and Greeks, European or Asian, UN Forces or private contractors - those people have always sought more than money. The record here deals with the overall topic of the mercenary. As always, Genocide Organ's music is straight forward - expanding all genres and categories. A powerful assault and aggressive undertone interchanges with a dense depressive mood. The record is an experience. Debossed digipak with spot-varnishing and booklet. |
PENJAGA INSAF & VESTIGIAL - 'Of Earth And Of Fire' 12" (Power & Steel / Loki Foundation) - £16.50
With the second part of Loki's split MLP series, two relatively-new projects known from previously small-run releases are introduced to a wider audience. The German Penjaga Insaf delivers enigmatic, ritualistic soundscapes built from layers of percussive, deeply meditative patterns, interwoven with original field recordings made by the artist during extensive travels through Indonesia. Italy's Vestigial presents an immense stream of pitch black ambience infused with dark tectonic upheavals and voice fragments that boil forth from a seething flood of magma before sinking back into the molten stew. The ancient sounds of the Earth as scorched by devastating waves of brooding Fire. "Imagine being underwater and listening to a sinking ship during an earthquake and you'll have pretty much the sensation these tracks give" (Chain D.L.K.). Ltd x 333 copies. |
RAISON D'ÊTRE - 'Mise En Abyme' CD (Transgredient) - £11.50
On this studio album from the Swedish dark industrial ambient legends, all the previously beloved elements of Raison d'être's music are here: spacious deep drones, touching sacral choirs, ritualistic sounds from gongs and bells and awe-inspiring integrated field / object recordings - all impressively enhanced to reach a new level of masterful atmospheric composition. Moving from dramatic tension and threatening uproar to meditative beauty, this near hour long album reveals various changes and details, while always sounding monolithic, expressing almost unbearable sensations of melancholy, vastness and contemplation. 'Mise en Abyme' is an inner journey down to the most hidden and dark parts of the Self. 'Mise en Abyme' literally means 'placed into the abyss' and conceptually the album contains ingredients from 'The Divine Comedy' by Dante or any similar stories/myths around the katabasis theme. Instead of being linked to religion, history or morality, it is purely a psychological and therapeutic trip to the underworld, investigating the subconscious. But even in the darkest and chaotic places in the depths, there are small shades of light, hope and understanding; one can be enlightened and purified upon returning to the conscious world. The definite Raison d'etre masterpiece! Comes in a 6-panel digipak. |
TROUM - 'Mare Morphosis' CD (Transgredient) - £11.50
The third and final part of Troum's 'Power Romantic' trilogy that started in 2010. The basic materials and arrangements for this one long epic piece were created from 2009-2013. "Mare Morphosis" stands out in the history of Troum studio albums as their most symphonic, refined and orchestral effort so far. "Mare Morphosis" gives Troum's music a new dimension, reflecting ancient waves, amplifying the power of sehnsucht, drumming the drowning heart. That sea of sound, of profound melancholic drones and waves gets its monument with the Power Romantic trilogy in which Troum show their skill in harmony, melody and rhythms. The oceanic feeling is fuelled by new movements, like a storm upon and under the fluid. Ltd x 1000 copies in an 8-panel digipak. |
TROUM & YEN POX - 'Mnemonic Induction' CD (Transgredient) - £11.50
Completely re-mastered re-issue of this much requested dark dream-opus from 2002 (originally on Malignant Records, Ltd x 1000), now bringing out more sound details inside the endless amorph morass. Deep, brooding, low-end drones, eerie wails and moans stretched to inhuman lengths, with bleak rumblings phasing in and out. "Mnemonic Induction" alternates between soaring expansiveness and claustrophobia. These 4 movements (63+ minutes) feature Troum & Yen Pox's collaborations through the years 1996-2002. "All minds dream, and all dreams are flavored with madness". Comes in an 8-panel digipak with new artwork by Gydja, including the 'dream essay' by R.B. Hensley. |

MERZBOW - 'CATalysis' CD (Elevator Bath) - £12.50
"CATalysis" is the brand new album from Japanoise master Merzbow. Nearly 70 minutes of highly varied but uniformly pummeling noise from one of the Greatest Of All Time. This epic collection of entirely new material is one for the ages, comprising so much of what longtime listeners have come to admire about the living legend's utterly distinctive body of work: junk electronics, screaming feedback, random beeps and blasts, occasional jagged rhythms, and, above all, dense layers of ever-changing abstractions ranging from atmospheric passages to all-out audio assault. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel spot-varnished digipak with photography of urban feral cats by Holly Doyel. |
ONE LEG ONE EYE - '...And Take The Black Worm With Me' CD (Nyahh Records) - £12
ONE LEG ONE EYE - '...And Take The Black Worm With Me' LP Coloured (Nyahh Records) - £26
As a founding member of Dublin experimental folk group LANKUM, Ian Lynch explores submerged leylines of music and song. His new solo project One Leg One Eye sees him taking a fresh approach to musical arrangement culminating in a sound that is more rooted in the raw aesthetics of second wave black metal than contemporary folk.
Over the course of a year, Lynch enjoyed the freedom of experimenting and exploring different paths of sound design without expectation or pressure. Seeking out interesting settings to record music and gather field recordings, the essence of which have seeped into the spirit of the music, Lynch explores rediscovered spaces in Dublin and familiar interior spaces. He frequently visited the abandoned warehouse were his father worked and sang with his shruti box, contented in his solitude. The result is a distinct and sometimes harrowing drone-folk atmosphere conjured throughout the album's five lengthy and enveloping compositions, with a beautiful, immersive sadness resonating throughout. CD in digipak / Ltd LP pressed onto recycled vinyl chips, meaning all records are a different colour.

AIMA LICHTBLAU - 'Carmina In Spiritum A • Ω' CD (Slaughter In Art) - £12
A deep and powerful voice from invisible and ancient worlds, destined to cross the elements, the depth of the most abysmal and ethereal things. AimA is founder of the neoclassical band Les Jumeaux Discordants and member of Caverna delle Rose, Allerseelen and iNsCissorS. Her instrument is overtone harp, which allows her to build melodies, harmonizing polyphonic and a cappella chants. "Carmina in Spiritum A • Ω is the result of a period particularly inspired by precise and profound astral conjunctions that determined the compositions in a praxis that I would dare to define mystical. The cosmic and absolute dimension of the texts, which goes to the limit of invocation to self-annihilation, consists of a series of carmina (chants, hymns) dedicated to the elements or spirits that hold the main inner forces, holding the spirit and preserving it in the its strength and integritas". Composed in Italian, it has been translated into Latin, in order to complete the work through music and singing. Guests: Evor Ameisie (Camerata Mediolanense), and Marco Milanesio (Blind Cave Salamander). Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak with booklet. |
VINCENT DALLAS & MOOZZHEAD - 'Controlled Chaos & Sound' CD & Cassette Boxset (Satatuhatta) - £15
Everyone who has been following noise scene in the past few years, are probably familiar with the names Vincent Dallas and Moozzhead, as well as their prolific output of high quality harsh noise. So, what do you get when you combine these two artists on the top of their game? MORE HARSH NOISE of course!
This is a collaboration, recorded live over few sessions in Belgium. Total harsh noise worship for lovers of full throttle sound havoc. 70 minutes of controlled chaos, split onto CD and C24 chrome tape. Ltd x 200 copies in a silkscreen-printed cardboard box, with two sided insert and two stickers. |
DER BLAUE REITER - 'Contaminated' 3 x CD Boxset (Caustic Records) - £32
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the band's formation, Der Blaue Reiter presents this exclusive, luxurious collector's box that contains the band's first three albums.
In addition to everything mentioned previously, the edition has five additional tracks, with parts from old demos, as well as other songs never edited to date, making this edition a true gem for fans of the band. 30 minutes of exclusive extra material.
The first album "Le Paradise Funebre... L'envers de la Tristesse" has been sold out for years and is a desired collectors item. The later "Silencis" and "Nuclear Sun" are equally sold out, so this will be the last chance to have these first three works in physical format, presented in this new apocalyptic edition, which will surely mark the end of our days. Der Blaue Reiter plays apocalyptic and cinematic ambiences mixed with neoclassical passages and martial percussion. The early formation featured members of Ordo Funebris, Fragile, and Narsilion and is now joined by Cecilia Bjargo (Arcana). Ltd x 300 copies in clamshell boxset with each CD in its own sleeve, a booklet and a commemorative metallic pin with Der Blaue Reiter logo. |
MATT SHOEMAKER - 'Brengenging Sala' CD (Elevator Bath) - £11.50
Previously unreleased in any form, the 7 tracks and 73 minutes comprising "Brengenging Sala" offer a true overview of the late Matt Shoemaker's genius as a master sculptor of potent and affecting sound art. His trademark haptic tones and scraping feedback build tension; his elegant electronics provide guidance; and his scrupulously curated field recordings articulate the sense of place requisite for full immersion in this sound world. Created for use in an unreleased film about his beloved Solo (Surakarta in Central Java, Indonesia), "Brengenging Sala" stands on its own as a fully realised work. These recordings were expertly sequenced, mixed, and mastered by Shoemaker himself in 2015, well before his untimely passing in 2017, but have remained unpublished until now. Powerful and sophisticated, yet melodic and profoundly sentimental, it is a complex and moving tribute to his favorite city; one as multifaceted as the place itself.
Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel spot-varnished digipak featuring Shoemaker's haunting photography, showcasing many dimensions of Solo: the chaotic beauty of the city, the wide open serenity of the coastal cliffs, the beguiling mystery of the forests and caves. |
ROBERT TURMAN & TOM SMITH - 'Strip Ice Water To Listerine' CD (Nyahh Records) - £12
A collaboration by two of America's most legendary figures in the underground music scene, both active since the late 1970's. Tom Smith (To Live And Shave In L.A.) passed away in early 2022 due to a sudden illness, with these recordings being finished after his death. Robert Turman wanted to release them as a tribute to Tom.
"In March of 2020, early pandemic, Tom asked me "Wanna do a quick and dirty internet collab?". He had recently posted an extended track called 'Strip Ice Water To Listerine', and added "It's only six days old. A simple generative system. Why don't we rework it together? Tear it apart, add your bits, then I can sprinkle some magic dust atop the
rubble!" I said I'd see what I can do, but was in the middle of a big project, The Prevalence... Fast forward to January 2022, after receiving the sad news that Tom had died, I decided to go ahead with the project... By cutting up, looping, and sampling Tom's original track, I created a series of rhythmic backdrops for Tom's improvisations, an album's worth of material that I could not stop listening to, and this is the result. Unfortunately the rubble never got the magic dust but I think Tom would have liked it" (Robert Turman). 6-panel digisleeve with liner notes by Thurston Moore with art work by Karen Constance. |
PRIMITIVE WINGS - 'Morphosis' CD (Satatuhatta) - £11.50
The debut album of Primitive Wings, a new project by Jaakko Vanhala (also of Secret Apex, Zoät-Aon, I.Corax). "Morphosis" is a highly evocative noise album, bringing into mind vivid flashes of something primal, perhaps from the prehistoric past. At the same time it's very raw, but without being utterly harsh. Listening to the album, you can imagine insects digging their way through the forest floor, dragonflies propelling amongst the ferns in the twilight, reptiles roaming in the verdant undergrowth, and prehistoric roars rising amongst the tropical trees. But it's not a nature documentary; more like an atavistic memory, an intuitive transformation taking you inside an alien consciousness. Perhaps a vision of an event which happened under the same stars but billions of years ago. Something from the beginning, of growth, sentience and flesh, finding its expression in strange transformations. Features a collaborative track with Antti Litmanen (Arktau Eos). Digipak. |
ELFFOR - 'Frostbitten Pain' CD (Ksenza Records) - £12.50
Reissue of the acclaimed 2010 album from Basque Country dungeon synth / atmospheric black metal act Elffor. "Call it solemnity, call it supreme mastery in the art of ambient "extreme" music, but this is it - Elffor reinventing itself once again... Keyboards set the pace for exquisite atmospheric sounds, martial drums and pure black environmental sounds, with voice of Eöl maintaining an uncorrupted solemnity... Close your eyes and imagine walking through a dark snowy forest... an awesome work of Elffor's pure essence" (Metal Archives)). File next to Summoning, Mortiis etc. Features a bonus 15- minute track. Ltd x 120 copies in a digipak with booklet. Very few copies in stock - act fast! |
