"Broken Allures", the fifth LP from trio Jac Berrocal, David Fenech, and Vincent Epplay (following releases on Blackest Ever Black, Akuphone, KlangGalerie), furthers their unique recording style with a musique concrète approach to mixing, characterized by the distinctive sound and technique of musicians and producers. Fenech and Epplay have paired with legendary French musician Berrocal, renowned for his collaborations with Nurse With Wound, Vince Taylor, Jaki Liebezeit, Pascal Comelade, Sunny Murray etc. "Broken Allures" is arguably their most coherent and fully accomplished album to date.

For this album, the trio has invited two fantastic musicians to compose with them: COSEY FANNI TUTTI and JAH WOBBLE.

COSEY FANNI TUTTI (Throbbing Gristle, Chris & Cosey, COUM Transmissions) contributes vocals, cornet, and electric guitar in her unique style. She has also written lyrics for two tracks on the album and brings a radical touch to the instrumental track 'Viva la Hacienda', which, in her own words, recalls her time recording with Throbbing Gristle.

JAH WOBBLE (founding member of Public Image Limited, and collaborator with African Head Charge, Brian Eno, Björk, Holger Czukay, Jaki Liebezeit, Bill Laswell, Primal Scream, Evan Parker, Sinéad O'Connor etc) plays a deep bass line on one track. He adds his signature industrial dub sound, with deep sub-bass frequencies.

This double CD set includes an extended collaboration between The New Blockaders & Grinder-without-Organs, and two live recordings of anti-theatre premiered at Cafe OTO (London, UK) and Audio Foundation (Auckland, NZ). CD1 features 'Ein Glücklicherer Zufall: Genau Zu Lang (A Happier Accident: Exactly Too Long)', an hour-long, part studio / part live collaboration between seminal anti-music stalwarts The New Blockaders, and purveyors of the absurd Grinder-without-Organs. 'Ein Glücklicherer Zufall...' shows a different side to TNB's trademark obliterating noise offensives with a more collaged, musique concrète approach and includes a pre-Cafe OTO TNB & G-w-O show soliloquy.

CD2 includes G-w-O live at London's Cafe OTO, "Showcasing a singer who has no voice, musicians who have no instruments, and a bandleader who has no direction".

CD2 concludes with The Theatrical Panopticon, "A stage play performed inside a void and infected with accidental somniloquies".

Fans of Noise music will need no introduction to the work of TNB. Ron Lessard, of legendary US Noise label RRRecords, once stated, "I'd give the nod to TNB as being the first truly devoted Noise artists". TNB served as a major influence on legendary Noise pioneers such as Merzbow and their influence on the current crop of popular crossover Noise artists such as Wolf Eyes is immeasurable.

"Recoiled" is a rambunctious alchemy, of magikal COIL sensibilities and hi-tech home circa 90's mixing technique, all fused in the cave-like early studios of Danny Hyde / Peter Christopherson.

These were the unrestrained PRE- BIG studio- mix downs, of four songs which long time Coil admirer / collaborator Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) requested Coil to remix. Reznor sent over the original multi-tracks and DATs to Hyde / Christopherson, who independently mixed versions and then met to synch both creations, molding them into these master versions. 

”Recoiled” includes a fuller, more opulent version of the track 'Closer', which eventually made it onto the opening credits to the movie "SE7EN". These 5 lengthy compositions are pre-Ableton / laptop generation type priest song creations, with the use of baby alarms and numerous wires to create bespoke effects.

These legendary tracks were always rumoured to exist and, only the due diligence of a dedicated NIN forum who hunted them down, are released/unleashed for your listening pleasure. 4 of the tracks were released on the download-only "Uncoiled". A bonus, previously unheard track from the same sessions closes the album. Jhonn Balance is also manifest on this gilded constellation. Beautifully remastered.

A long overdue and essential industrial collaboration, which fell through the cracks after the passing of Z'EV in 2017 and Illusion Of Safety were in the midst of a 7+ year hiatus. Illusion Of Safety helped shape various movements within the annals of 80's cassette culture, as well as industrial / experimental / noise / ambient music on the whole. As for Z'EV, it's hard to measure how immense his influence was. Active since the 70's, and highly instrumental in the development of metal percussion within the context of industrial, experimental and noise music, Z'EV created instruments out of discarded industrial materials, and that process evolved into structures that can be swung back and forth like marionettes, or in some cases were self-operable devices. Later, he grew to embrace drone and ambient music in addition to continuing his works for percussion until his passing in 2017. What we have here is a potent cocktail of scrap metal, processed field recordings, modular synthesis, and plenty of aptly placed intermittent percussive clatter. The overall impression is a very calculated sound collage that still feels like the sonic equivalent of a deep epiphany, or maybe a catalyst for one. What seems like a casual interweaving of a wide range of unexpected elements slowly becomes sewn together into a work that balances complexity and harshness. SCUM - 'Exploitation Des Machines A Habiter' LP CLEAR PINK + CD (Cipher Productions) - £26

The first full-length LP from Sou Inomoto's Scum is a career highlight; a focused and highly detailed work of extreme electronics tension and layered dynamic uncomfortability. "Exploitation Des Machines A Habiter" features two lengthy tracks: the first a tunnelled exorcism of straining drones and sympathetic textures which peaks into noise saturation; the second a longer catharsis of high energy cut-up, loops and vortexed fragments taking form from divergent base elements. The initial master was considered too harrowing for the cutting engineer, so a new vinyl master was prepared - with the original CD master included here as an additional CD proper in PVC sleeve. SISSY SPACEK - 'Antitheater' CD (Cipher Productions) - £11.50

The new album from Sissy Spacek - John Wiese (Smegma, LHD, ex-Bastard Noise) and Charlie Mumma (Sewer System, Knelt Rote, Bloody Phoenix, ex-L'Acephale) - was recorded in December 2021 and then put under the Wiese microscope and scalpel in 2023. Blown-out grindcore and frayed improvisations are crisped with distortion until their original forms distend and melt, chunks of noise-soaked saturations then cut into a series of short-form grotesqueries - each allocated its own CD track. SPITEFUL WOMB - 'Interior Castle' LP (Cipher Productions) - £22

The debut LP of Nora Zimmerman's project Spiteful Womb. "Interior Castle" coalesces many of the elements which have coursed through her cassette and CDR releases over the last decade (inc splits with Djinn, Bride, Trou), combining sombre dark ambient, fetid power electronics, captured sound elements and hints of melodic dissatisfaction into an architected sequence of carefully layered and viscerally powerful compositions. "Interior Castle" finds common (burial) ground across the range of post-industrial recesses in which Spiteful Womb has dwelled, constructing a sinister sequence of mansion rooms which expose an array of embedded horrors. VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Transgressive Collective IV' CD (Cipher Productions) - £12

"Transgressive Collective IV" is the culmination of enquiries into the irreverent, unforgiving, callous and violent. Sharing only a broad theme, UK/Aus acts Sutcliffe Jügend, Satori, Isomer, Streicher, Inhibition, Dry Greed, S.T.A.B. Electronics and Stark (Bagman) each contribute a track of their finest contemporary work in the arena of Power Electronics / Industrial / Dark Ambient, as well as a page of A5 art. Stan Reed (Blue Sabbath Black Cheer, Dried Up Corpse) then added a detailed piece of collage art for the cover. A high point of modern audio primitivism and exploratory arts. GRIM - 'Message' LP WHITE (Urashima) - £24

Nothing was likely to prepare the world of Japanese noise for what was delivered by the 1987 EP "Message" by Grim (aka Jun Konagaya, here with White Hospital co-founder Tomosada Kuwahara, Yukio Nagoshi of Vasilisk, and A. Takahashi). It belongs to a body of three 80's releases including the full length "Folk Music" (Eskimo Records, 1986), and "Amaterasu" (G.A. Propaganda, 1985). While its two predecessors are brilliant and more or less what you might expect from a seminal artist of Japanese noise, "Message" follows a markedly different path, delving toward the realm of pop and folk. Drawing on 60's psychedelia, DIY aesthetics, and folky undercurrents more akin to Current 93, "Message" feels like walking through an ancient fairy tale forest - hazy, magical and slightly eerie. "Message" has remained a coveted, rare artefact of a road less travelled and a window into the diverse talents and temperaments that rest below all of his output. This is the first ever reissue of the album, extending the original EP with an entirely new body of noise-oriented reworks by Grim of the original six tracks, effectively doubling in length to a full-length release. PACIFIC 231 - 'Deep Jet (Soundscapes Of Conflict)' CD (Aussaat) - £12

The brand new studio album from Pacific 231 - the long running project of Paris-born, Dublin-based artist Pierre Jolivet. "Soundscapes Of Conflict" juxtaposes the roar of jet engines with more serene or harmonious elements; a contrast provoking reflection on the human cost of conflict and the resilience of the human spirit. The tension between sound as a source of beauty and expression and sound as a tool of destruction, recordings of machinery from war zones into musical compositions, using dissonance and discord to convey the chaos and brutality of war. Pierre started in the early 80's to perform as a French pioneer under the moniker of Pacific 231, in the industrial and power electronics art fields before moving into more ambient and abstract electronic sounds. MEGAPTERA - 'Near Death' LP (Urashima) - £24

One of the early pioneers of Death Industrial, Megaptera's debut album "Near Death" was originally released by Cold Meat Industry's cassette sub-label Sound Source in 1991. Birthed by the minds of Peter Nyström (Negru Voda), Mikael Svensson (Deaf Machine), and Magnus Åslund, the album fuses haunting atmospheres, experimental soundscapes, and industrial rhythms with a sense of foreboding. Throughout the album, there's a palpable tension; a feeling of being suspended between reality and a realm of shadows. Distant whispers, eerie drones, and subtle shifts in dynamics pull the listener deeper, inviting introspection. A sonic odyssey that is equal parts unsettling and transformative. Megaptera went on to release albums on cult labels such as Slaughter Productions, Art Konkret, SSSM, Release Entertainment, Malignant Records, and CMI. Ltd x 199 copies.

VICE WEARS BLACK HOSE - 'Lines Of Black Nylon And Red Cut Throats' CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £12

Vice Wears Black Hose (V.W.B.H.) is a collaborative project by two monsters of the American Noise, P/E, HNW scene: Sam McKinlay aka The Rita, and Richard Ramirez aka Black Leather Jesus, Werewolf Jerusalem etc. The project name was inspired by the Italian Giallo movie "Il Vizio ha le Calze Nere" (the Italian translation of VWBH) released in 1975 by Tano Cimarosa. MUMMIES AND MADMEN - 'Mummies And Madmen Grow Dark In The Sun' CD (Winter Hill Recordings / Fourth Dimension) - £11.50

Reissue of the only release from Mummies And Madmen, aka Bob Oliver (Slob Tapes, early live member of Attrition), Alan Rider, head of industrial zine and label Adventures In Reality (Attrition, SPK, Test Dept., Muslimgauze etc) and one half of electronic duo Stress, and the mysterious Cryptic Z Mostman. The title track was recorded in the very underground experimental electronic scene of Coventry in 1983. It's a mix of throbbing drum machine, synthesiser feedback, PiL style bass and scratchy, reverb drenched, guitar that contorts, evolves and mutates over the course of 22 minutes. Fourteen months later, the 20-minute follow-up 'Red Front' was recorded and both tracks were released in 1984 on Slob Tapes as a C45 tape album. A surviving copy of the cassette was unearthed and was remastered by Siôn Orgon for this reissue. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak.

ARKHAETH - 'Profound Lore Of The Ashen Specters' CD (Zazen Sounds) - £12

Previously recording as Mørknatt, Kzanhagr and Kunstdood rebirthed the project as Arkhaeth (Among Rotten Keys Hidden At Eternal Thought Hills) in 2021, with members of Beyond Deaths Throne, Necroracle, Cauldron, Cvltist and other related projects. A Black Metal album comprised of seven tracks (44 mins) of powerful wrath and pure melancholic essence. "Profound Lore Of The Ashen Specters" was inspired in the Luciferian ethos and leaning intellectual and spiritual left hand path doctrines. Serving as the lore written in old forgotten ashen scriptures that lead to illumination of the self and enacting as a road map into the fierce path to attain the final knowledge of the overman. K1R2CH8T7V | SLEEPWALKER - 'Empty Parallels And Spiral Forms' CD (Ksenza Records) - £11

A 75-minute split between noise project K1R2CH8T7V (Seregy Krechetov, also recording as Naegleria Fowleri, and Hydrocele, as well as Bednoiseroom label boss) and Siberia's Sleepwalker, known for their enigmatic post-rock soundscapes and ambient drone walls. K1R2CH8T7V's epic 41-min opener offers dense guitar noise, electronic bleeps, sharp feedback and ever-changing rhythms over a vast and varied soundscape. Sleepwalker's closer builds up post-rock guitarscapes, dark ambient grandiosity, noisy electronics and lush drones over its immense 34 minutes. The perfect pairing. AMPLEXUS - 'Melting Away - Fierce Detrunctation' CD (Karo Productions) - £12

Amplexus is Ecuadorian noise stalwart Leo Sabatto (Macronympha / Armenia). A raw, unforgiving barrage of harsh noise and heavy electronics, as one might expect from this well-known act. Five heavy, lengthy tracks (ranging from 9 and a half to a challenging 16 and a half mins). Short shifts of harsh noise blasts disrupted by ear-splitting feedback blend together to form the basis of most of Amplexus' work though something is going on in the background that causes this project to pull away from the competition. Amplexus has been creating havoc since 2019. Artwork by Ewan Aparicio (Input Error).
