An electroacoustic work based on "Vents" by French poet Saint-John Perse. This composition of "Vents" is inseparable from the wild and invigorating landscape of Seven Hundred Acre Island, Beatrice Chanler's private island located on the coast of Maine, and one of Perse's favourite places during his American exile in 1945. Perse is fascinated by the gigantism and the force of the geological elements which unfolded before his eyes, frenetically collecting the materials of his poem. Denis Lavant has chosen to interpret "Vents" in an emphatic, theatrical and extraordinarily lively way. From this recording made in one take, Patrick Müller, with the help of Quentin Rollet on saxophone, and Romain Perrot (Vomir) on acoustic guitar, accompanied this long poem, in a way that is not at all easy or illustrative: he sculpts the sound material by accumulating in a subtle way electroacoustic treatments which considerably enrich and renew these 38 minutes of great evocative power. Experimentation is constant there, without however taking precedence over the text and the always astonishing voice of Denis Lavant. Presented in a 6-panel foldout outsized sleeve.
