Palais Ideal's high-energy songs are constructed from fragments of post-punk and new wave. The band uses vintage synths, guitars and equipment to create an authentic, early 80's sound. Influenced by The Cure, New Order, The Sound and Ultravox, this music should appeal to fans of contemporary bands à la She Past Away, Lebanon Hanover and Editors. Old post-punk and synth-pop-era music for nostalgic ears.

Their style is characterised by a strong fusion of cold / minimal wave elements with melancholic dark vocals, organic sounds and distinctive vocals. As musicians and producers, both members have worked on projects for and collaborated with members of Bauhaus, Tuxedomoon, Christian Death, The Legendary Pink Dots, Clan of Xymox, and Swans.
