Primitive Motion is the duo of Australian musicians and visual artists Sandra Selig (Threads) & Leighton Craig (The Lost Domain). Their work builds through ambience and subtle electronics, highlighting relationships between natural and human-made forces through nuanced spatial-sonic interventions.
The massive "Lost Frequencies" (130+ minutes) spans almost four years collected from the duo's ongoing improvisatory meetings at Selig's studio in Ferny Hills. "Lost Frequencies" moves at its own pace - taken in its full breadth, it's like one long exhale. Within this, there's also a curious intimacy, a feeling that as listeners, we're eavesdropping on a process unfolding. It's a reminder that blueprints for buildings are often more evocative than the constructions themselves.
Through "Lost Frequencies", Primitive Motion uncover something that’s simultaneously deeply archaic and vitally modern... the hum of reed organ and melodica in conjunction with Selig's levitating voice, are audio madeleines with both devotion to craft, and surety of focus.
