Satori
BIOGRAPHY
British industrial veterans Satori were formed by Dave Kirby and Robert Maycock in 1984. After a couple of self produced cassettes they began to release material on cult labels representing industrial music culture in its absolute form: Zeal SS, Broken Flag, and many more.
The original partnership disbanded in 1987 with both members pursuing other musical projects. in 1994 Dave resurrected the band with Justin Mitchell (Cold Spring Records) releasing a retrospective CD "Infect" on Functional Records and performing new material live. Again the band went into a prolonged dormant state until, in 2007 Justin recruited Neil Chaney (Pessary) to release two brand new albums "Kanashibari" and "Contemptus Mundi" and tour around the globe to a brand new audience.
2012 saw Dave return and, with Satori now a solo project, start soundtracking a broken society. Satori continue to explore cinematic soundscapes, pounding rhythms and tortured lyrics and, if it is at all possible, the results are getting angrier. Comprising a mixture of harsh noise and power electronics with harder and heavier percussive beats than before the new material provides a constant pervasive undercurrent of violence, the feeling of a planet on the verge of collapse and a reflection of the lack of humanity embedded in a culture based on greed and self-preservation.
Cold Spring is proud to release the new Satori album "The Woods" in September 2023.
