Prurient is Dominick Fernow (Vatican Shadow). "The Black Post Society" embraces and accepts the depression of not having anything left to hunt. The mask without a face to hold. The depression of the hunter after the deer is killed. It is better to be hungry than to have eaten. As fantasy shatters under the whip of reality, erotic malaise settles in the nest of the mind inverting this dormant fuel to rekindle the endless cycle of sexual chaos. Black Industrial / Power Noise from this highly respected long-running project of Dominick Fernow (VATICAN SHADOW, COLD CAVE).

"The Black Post Society embraces a level of aggression that's somewhere between all-out death metal and the corrosive oscillator-punk of Whitehouse... It's a remorseless onslaught of ugly, downward force and oppressive negativity from the very outset.. Fernow's cocktail of feral vocals, and whining, emaciated synth sounds are all coated in various unpalatable hues of distortion and noise signals - throughly unpleasant, which is of course, the point." (Boomkat)

"What makes this extremely expressive noise-album such an alluring experience is the combination of full throttle digital aggression and fragile soundscapes of sonic beauty drifting somewhere in the deeper levels throughout the eight pieces on the album... This balance between sonic aggression and fragile sorrow is what makes "Black post society" such an emotional noise work... Unquestionably the strongest work of noise-related art I have heard in quite some time... (Vital Weekly)

"...one of Prurient’s most exquisite catalogue of sonic havoc... If you’re fed up with power-electronics and noise in general, give this Prurient CD a try, and you’ll quite certainly agree that, when there’s style and inventiveness, even an overcrowded and saturated genre can easily sound exciting and interesting again." (Filth Forge)

"A deeply primal work... This comes very close to what we have expected Prurient to release with regard to the more memorable and maybe even epic contributions to a discography that has been rapidly establishing itself as an undeniable staple in the history of Industrial music...without a doubt THE MOST CHALLENGING WORK I’ve ever had to consider...It has been a draining but rewarding experience." (Heathen Harvest)

"The Black Post Society proves to be much more varied in its noise output, and even with the latent sexual elements, Prurient's lyrics are much more subtle and personal. The intent is to create an atmosphere of tension and unease rather than to provoke outrage or incite shock... undoubtedly a noise record, carrying elements of dark ambient and enough new tricks to satiate the hardened noise listener." (Compulsion Online)

"Despite the maelstroms of noise that form the majority of the compositions on The Black Post Society, on the whole it’s a fairly meditative work. While the topics deal with death and S&M, it’s channeled not through black metal growls but in a monotone processed voice speaking with the patience of glaciers." (Electronic Beats)

"The Black Post Society works because it takes from both And Still, Wanting and a Prurient tape called Time Began In A Garden which focused more on death ambient than noise and fuses their sounds into one... The dark, sexual imagery on the album’s cover and insert only add another grotesque dimension to Fernow’s sound. It’s ready made for the scorched earth that many science fiction narratives are based upon, but in a time when people are drunk on hope for a better future it willfully stares into the abyss." (Delusions Of Adequacy)

"Black Post Society starts with the most sublime Suicide style risk before morphing into a black electronic head fuck... some of the tracks here are staggeringly beautiful, putting to one side Prurient’s penchant for a black metal growl and distorted spoken word. I’ve been flogging this one to death and it really is worthwhile tracking down." (5/5, Ducks Battle Satan)

"THE BLACK POST SOCIETY is perfect for causing damage to your hearing. Behind a sort of new primitivism attitude Prurient aim is to keep the adrenaline level high by creating a saturated wall of sound where behind distorted vocals you can find echoes of melodies and structured layers of industrial sounds. Having a sort of black metal approach to sound, Prurient recorded vocals that are at least 10dB higher than the rest and then built tracks that could be interesting if decrypted... if you are into this genre you can like the maniacal atmospheres he proposes." (Chain D.L.K.)

"The Black Post Society is at first listen one of his more abrasive releases. But whereas some of his earlier recordings are more assaultive to the senses, this one’s deceptive. It’s a work of rhythmic and musical repetition, albeit draped in layer after layer of vile static." (Treble Zine)

(Ikonen)
