After 4 years of silence, Swedish textural noise / drone duo Amph return a fantastically absorbing LP. As ever, a slow dissonance and growing tension is formed by the use and abuse of magnetic tape. Suggestive backward pulses, cumulative sound-rustle and overlapping psychedelic looping are the main ingredients. Despite the occasional hissy and rumbling nature of these recordings this is a fairly fine-tuned album, slightly less chaotic with a clear flow overall, but with the stirring sense of compositional skill intact.
