Mother Rat is a one-woman ambient and dungeon synth project from Novosibirsk, Siberia, formed in 2024 by Olga "Mother Hel" Nikolaeva. Her work is dedicated to C.S. Lewis's "The Chronicles Of Narnia" series and combines the sounds of synthesizers with traditional instrumentation.

The debut album "Just Beginning Of The Story" was recorded in the author's home studio and is dedicated to the first book of the Chronicles. It tells the story of the creation of Narnia and the emergence of a connection between our ordinary world and the world of magic.

Digital and analogue synthesizers, as well as the delicate, chiming melodies of the gusli (a traditional Russian folk instrument) and Finnish kantele were used during the recording.
