FORTHCOMING COLD SPRING RELEASES - PREORDER NOW! |
GENESIS P-ORRIDGE & DAVE BALL - 'Imagining October' (Derek Jarman) O.S.T.
12" Etched £18 - out 23rd September

The first ever release of the soundtrack to the rarely-seen DEREK JARMAN 1984 short film "Imagining October", with music recorded by Derek's friend and collaborator Genesis P-Orridge (PSYCHIC TV / THROBBING GRISTLE), and Dave Ball (SOFT CELL / THE GRID). Recorded at DJM recording studios in Theobalds Road, London.
Limited Edition 12" vinyl featuring a beautiful etched B-Side. Features liner notes by James Mackay (Jarman's producer, collaborator and archivist).
Derek Jarman put together a programme of films for the London Film Festival, reflecting the cutting edge of the London avant-garde of the time. Recorded at the same time as "The Angelic Conversation", "Imagining October" was filmed in the Eisenstein Museum in Moscow, Vladimir Mayakovsky's grave at Novodevichy Cemetery, the GUM department store facing red square, and the fire temples of Baku in Azerbaijan. The painting sequences with a group of soldiers (Angus Cook, Stephen Thrower (COIL), Peter Doig and Keir Wahid) was filmed in London. Jarman considered it one of the best, if not the best, of his shorter works. It was intended as an agit-prop work and the combination of music and imagery remains powerful to this day. |
JAGATH - 'Svapna'
CD £9.50 - out 30th September

"Svapna" is the brand new album from JAGATH - the ritual / industrial / dark ambient act from Perm, Russia.
"A portal to another world is located inside an abandoned Soviet-era swamp drain near a residential building in the Zakamsk suburb of Perm, Russia, 58.0122, 55.9623. A ritual was performed here, so now we are living in an inside-out world.
This is one of the last recordings inside our Temple - the oil tanks are finally scrapped. I hope this is not the end.
This album is dedicated to the victims of totalitarian regimes".
JAGATH create their music at abandoned industrial locations - the bottom of a moist underground sewer shaft and inside huge hollow oil tanks - without using digital synthesis. Simple, mostly hand-crafted instruments, found objects and voices are used to share their vision of decaying post-industrial age, to unleash the spirit of deep beyond-world and unveil life in the abyss.
6-panel glossy digipak. For fans of: Shibalba, Phurpa, Raison D'etre, Arktau Eos. |
DEAD VOICES ON AIR - 'Abrader Redux'
CD £9.50 - out 7th October

The hugely sought-after debut album from DEAD VOICES ON AIR (Mark Spybey of DOWNLOAD / ex-ZOVIET FRANCE, REFORMED FACTION), featuring cEvin Key (SKINNY PUPPY / DOWNLOAD).
"Abrader" blends processed sounds from primitive instruments and found objects into hypnotic looped rhythmic structures, with dark clusters of heavy ambient washes into what could be described as Organic Panambience, or 'music for the eyes'.
"Abrader" was the first of over 80 releases (so far) by Mark Spybey using the name DEAD VOICES ON AIR. It was recorded over the space of days in Vancouver in 1993 and released as a tape the following year by Akifumi Nakajima (AUBE), for his G.R.O.S.S. label. Chronologically, the material was recorded after most of the music that made up his first two releases on compact disc - "New Words Machine" and "Hafted Maul" - however, "Abrader" was released before both of those albums.
"Abrader Redux" features the three lengthy tracks that were released on the original cassette, plus the bonus tracks that were included in the 2009 reprint as part of the "Fast Falls The Eventide" double CD, and now with two 'new' previously-unreleased bonus tracks recorded 1994 - taking this masterwork up to 7 tracks and over 67 minutes of exceptional music.
"If most ambient is the laudanum of the new fin de siécle, then Dead Voices on Air are the absinthe" (Village Voice).
The album for Cold Spring has been remastered by Martin Bowes from Attrition. Packaged in a matt-laminate digipak with art by Spybey, beautifully laid out by Abby Helasdottir.

KOLLAPS
- 'UNTIL THE DAY I DIE'
CD £11 - out now! || LP £18 Adv - out 14th October
 CD BLACK LP
"Until The Day I Die", the third album from Australian post-industrial outfit KOLLAPS, is a merciless and visceral assault on the senses and continues the trajectory of the band's idiosyncratic approach in their creation of sound. The album showcases an uncompromising force of harsh post-industrial music narrated by overarching themes of condemnation and redemption; of violence, romanticism, sexuality, and addiction. Much of the creation and lyrical conceptualisation of the record has been stylised and presented using William S. Burroughs' cut-up method.
A wide variety of metals and raw materials were used in the creation of the album including metal grates, a rusted hoist, cement cylinders, field recordings, hammering of various decrepit objects, broken amplifiers, an exposed reverb tank, various synthesizers, and the infamous metal coil; a crudely self-constructed artifice that has become iconic in its use across KOLLAPS' triptych of releases and lengthy touring history.
Mastered by: James Plotkin. Cover artwork: Nullvoid (Thomas Ekelund | Trepaneringsritualen).
CD in 6-panel digipak || LP with full colour matt-laminate sleeve and printed inner lyric sleeve.

Rhythmic industrial noise - grinding and churning, drenched in crushing doom-laden guitars - drapes the sacrificial bones of the new album from esoteric electronic alchemist COLOSSLOTH.
Building on this trademark sound, pushing and striving for reinvention and renewal, Colossloth has also utilised live instrumentation and ethereal vocals, and black metal blast beats on certain tracks for the first time to enhance the intent behind the music. Digitally-driven soundtracks for transfigured cities and myths born in the wilderness of Albion.

TenHornedBeast is back to its pounding Doom-Ambient roots and recorded his darkest album yet, as a sonic veneration of a medieval sculpture depicting the torment of the damned in Hell.
Five suitably monolithic pieces form a journey, starting with the first mortal death and ending with the second eternal death of the soul. The darkest textures and heaviest drones are way-markers on this journey; hymns to exalt the scenes shown on the stone.

886VG - 'II' CD (Karo Productions) - £12
Relentless lightning-speed Harsh Noise from the end of the world. This is the follow-up to the essential album 'I' on Death Bed Tapes (2021). Chilean act 886VG (Ignacio Ruz) delivers one of the most brutal albums you will hear... ever. With over 15 years of inexorable noise production, 886VG has over 30 releases, collaborating with noise peers such as Vomir, Kylie Minoise, Armenia, God Pussy, Kadaver and more. "The name does not mean anything, its just random number/letters. I wanted something with no meaning. Something that just points to someplace". |
ATARAXIA - 'Nosce Te Ipsum' CD (Twilight Records) - £12
"Nosce Te Ipsum" is a step back into the ancient times of this very important medieval / neoclassical band from Italy. This long-deleted album (out of print for well over a decade) is finally brought back into the light. The songs here were taken from Ataraxia's 1991 self-released demo tape, and many gained a wider audience when they featured on the Apollyon release "Ad Perpetuam Rei Memoriam". Is destiny driven by accident or by Fortune? A Kafkian succession of questions without answer in a re-created inquisitorial trial of our times, the slow march of a humanity who tries desperately and unsuccessfully to know itself bearing the burden of its own chaotic existence and blindness. Finally, an act of rebellion and courage, an awakened consciousness that could lead to a new birth and refound harmony in the fluid cycle of Nature where every gesture and sound acquires a metaphysical value. Will we be able to transform the wrought material into Gold? Each of us, believe me, is just what he chooses to be. Digipak. |
ATARAXIA - 'Saphir' CD (Twilight Records) - £12
Originally released on CMI's sublabel Cruel Moon International, one of the most poetic and varied albums from Ataraxia is available once again, after being out of print for over a decade. Saphir is inspired by the magical, symbolic and mystic nature of gardens. Gardens of all ages linked to different geographic areas (the hanging gardens of Babylon, the Arabian gardens, the medieval hortus conclusus, the zen gardens and the English romantic gardens) have been the starting point of our musical research. The garden has been often represented as an universal door to cross this dimension to enter the one of myth and dream. The music is rich and nuanced. Classic and flamenco guitars, romantic pianos, pads of atmospheric keyboards, noble sonatas, epic tunes, rich vocals and some eastern and classic percussion played by Riccardo Spaggiari, appearing for the very first time in an Ataraxia's album, are the ingredients of this opus. Completely remastered and presented in a digipak. |
DAWN & DUSK ENTWINED - 'Fin De Siècle' CD (Twilight Records) - £12
Released a decade ago "Fin de Siècle' was a series of three Dawn & Dusk Entwined mini-albums released on Aube & Crépuscule in very limited CDR editions. Now collected on one album, the complete series (74 mins over 19 tracks), take us on a neoclassical / ambient dive through Paris, London and Vienna - their social contradictions, cultural life in a dreamt nostalgia, more than a century away from our technical civilization. At times intimate and gloomy, at times forceful with strong, heavy orchestrations for decadent and almost tangible atmospheres that evoke the end of 19th C. era, before the disaster of WWI. A masterpiece. Ltd x 300 copies in a gatefold digisleeve with new artwork. |
EDGE OF DECAY - 'Last Trip To Paradise' CD (4iB Records) - £12
Harsh Noise terror, obscure synthesizers and raw machine destruction from Finland. "Last Trip To Paradise" gives you a high dosage of raw soundspaces, demented analogue screeches and vile industrial machine manipulation. 43 minutes of total Harsh Noise worship. Edge Of Decay is Olli Tanskanen (also of Vigilantism). Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
EDGE OF DECAY - 'Vein Of Metal' CD (Aussaat) - £12
The Finnish Noise act offers you a batch of grim and filthy sounds from the underground. Bleak and distorted synthesizer experimentations, menacing metal junk abuse, and Industrial terror. This is pure decay. "Synthesizers are working overtime, buzzing loudly. Sometimes it's stuck in a rhythm, such as in 'Teenage Dreams'. On a few occasions, there are vocals, it's shouting in the background, or something out of a film. Maybe there is some metallic crashing and some kind of loop device at work. There are eight pieces of music here, and what I found most delightful is the variation within these pieces. Maybe delightful isn't the right word for the bleak music and ditto titles , but I enjoyed the grim nature of this. As I may have said before, I am certainly not averse to good noise... Edge Of Decay gets my seal of approval" (Vital Weekly). Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
ETANT DONNES - 'Bleu' 2 x LP (Penultimate Press) - £30
Étant Donnés is an experimental / industrial duo formed in Grenoble in 1980 by brothers Eric and Marc Hurtado. Following the first ever vinyl reissues of "Aurore" and "Royaume, Aimant + Aimant", the final part of this extraordinary trilogy is now given the vinyl treatment. "Bleu" (originally released on CD, 1994 by Staalplaat) is the final gesture and culmination of this period of creation where poésie and la nature form a magical alliance that resonates as an alchemical wedding. Having the conviction that "Bleu" was the ultimate arc based on the purity of natural sound and poetry, leaning towards a mystical spiritual search towards their own souls the band then moved onto collaboration with friends and idols such as Genesis P-Orridge and Michael Gira. Remastered by Rashad Becker. Presented in a glossy gatefold sleeve. |
MACROMENIA - 'Brutalismo' CD (Karo Productions) - £12
Ultra Harsh Noise from USA / Ecuador. Macromenia includes original Macronympha member Joseph Roemer and Latino-american Noise guru L. Sabatto from Armenia. The concept of Brutalismo was art brut being expressed in real life; a life where circumstances sometimes projects wild behaviour and hostility. This will make your ears bleed! |
MACROMENIA - 'Hyper Dosifications' CD (Karo Productions) - £12
"The concept of "Hyperdosifications" was in a way dedicated to myself, as being treated by hypertension, always involved in the extreme side of music not only as a conceptual artist but as a drummer of Noisecore bands, make your own life accelerated and intense to the point that your health also gets affected" (L. Sabatto / Armenia). The Noise / Experimental artist from Ecuador, along with his comrade Joseph Roemer from Macronympha, are releasing 3 simultaneous albums on Karo Productions. This will make your ears bleed! |
MACROMENIA - 'Segments Of Fractured Cranium' CD (Karo Productions) - £12
Ultra Harsh Noise from USA / Ecuador. Macromenia includes original Macronympha member Joseph Roemer and Latino-american Noise guru L. Sabatto from Armenia. The concept here was an analysis of how extreme imagery in metal / noise/ experimental album covers could affect the psyche of the individual and how it may manifest in their daily life. We live in a world where indifference and coldness manifests making us emotionless individuals. This will make your ears bleed! |
MLEHST - 'Resonances And Observance' CD (Karo Productions) - £12
Brand new release from the English experimental / noise perversions project, founded in 1991 by All Brentnall. Mlehst presents 5 tracks with a nightmare sound; dark ambient noise, audio collage, music concrete. A prolific artist with over 80 albums and dozens of EPs on hard-to-find cassettes and vinyl (often in small quantities), the project started to wind down in the late 90's. In 2005, however, Mlehst was restarted and continues to release new recordings. You can find his vast back catalogue on labels such as Oxidation, New Forces, Self Abuse, RRRecords, Mother Savage, and his own labels Belief Recordings / Bandaged Hand Produce. |
MUNKNÖRR - 'Eikthyrnir' CD (Twilight Records) - £12
A reissue of the 2020 self-released digital-only album from Munknörr, the ritual-folk phenomenon from Uruguay. With Shamanic, Nordic and Celtic influences, Munknörr create a pagan inspired world, both dark and mystical, with a natural primitive sound. "Eikthrynir is an album about the circle of life and death, light and darkness, about nature and its duality... It begins with Eikthyrnir which represents life because from its horns it creates the rivers, and ends with Andleg Umbreyting which means Spiritual Transformation, and represents death. It's a very personal and spiritual album where we put our fears and beliefs". Features Icelandic musician and Skáld Sigurboði Grétarsson. Gatefold digisleeve. |
NUORI VERI - 'Vakaumus' CD (Aussaat) - £12
"Vakaumus" compiles the first two tapes of the rural industrial / noise project Nuori Veri from Finland - "Vakaumus" and "Vakaumus II", both originally released in tiny editions of just 50 copies on Brownhill Mafia, 2019. Dusty reel-to-reel soundscapes, intense vocals, desolate farmyards and mystic passages. "The voice is the right one for this kind of music, screaming, shouting, whispering and with the occasional repeating loop to imply an industrial rhythm, it works very well. But there are also more reflective piano bits, rummaging around the farmland; life is probably not that bad in rural Finland. The radio-play idea I had the last time also works here similarly and adds more mystery to the release. Maybe it is all a bit of a gothic horror story in a damp, empty land... What I like about this musical project is that it is both traditional and surprising, covering a wider musical field than your typical noise release" (Vital Weekly). 53 minutes of nordic soundscapes, including 15 minutes of bonus material. Ltd x 200 copies in digipak. |
RICHARD YOUNGS - 'Iker' CD (Fourth Dimension) - £11.50
On this album, Richard Youngs uses Spanish guitar alongside real-time street sounds, birdsong, tape loops, synth, FM radio and runout grooves to create a setting that's comparatively gentler, meditative, and ethereal than most of his previous work. "Iker" (pronounced like 'eeker', and meaning visitation" in Basque), collects five songs willfully displaying Richard's prowess with the guitar whilst placing his delicate strumming alongside subtle elements that accord the proceedings with a hue unmistakably his own. Akin to the stripped-down approach of some of John Fahey's work or Sir Richard Bishop's impressionist playing, this is another great album from one of the best eclectic musicians in the UK. Digipak. |
RICHARD YOUNGS - 'New Emptiness' CD (Fourth Dimension) - £11.50
Each one of the five compositions on "New Emptiness" may use tones or oscillating loops as something of a starting point, but true to form Richard Youngs teases each one into new shapes where different shading applies as well as an unexpected rhythm or, on final cut 'Annulus II', his manipulated voice enter the fray. "New Emptiness" draws from both the avant-garde of contemporary minimalist music and his own tendency not to settle for half-measures. It is an album that requires a little sweat oozing from the ears of the listener. Mastered by Sion Orgon. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak. |
SMALL CRUEL PARTY - 'È Vago Fior Del Tempo' LP (Penultimate Press) - £24
Small Cruel Party's work is focused on the inherent mysterious and beautiful quality of sound itself. Manipulation of physical objects in acoustic space and a great deal of concentrated activity. Even in pieces involving dense sound at high volume the resultant effect is one of intense calm. The material here ranges from abstract sound art, to lo-fi noisy rhythmic loops, to otherworldly yet delicate experiments. Recorded in Chicago and Seattle, the four tracks (35 mins) all date from the late 1980's and predate any officially released material. The pieces were originally privately released on cassette in micro-editions of 5 to 7 copies and given to friends. Ltd x to 150 copies on Neenah, Bright White, Eggshell (finish) 1 colour letterpress printing. Printed by hand on a Vandercook Universal I printing press in Brooklyn, NY. |
SUTCLIFFE NO MORE (SUTCLIFFE JUGEND) - 'Consenting Adult' 2 x CD (4iB Records) - £18
After the harrowing "Domestic", comes the cathartic release of "Consenting Adult". The video for opening track 'Akrasia' gives the viewer a taste of another seismic shift, this time towards a varied selection of songs closer to the Sutcliffe Jugend sound, yet still utterly unique. No limits. No boundaries. No template. Disc one features shorter songs, a release of energy and creativity, featuring unique tracks like 'Drug Mule' and 'Cut Tooth' while disc two's songs go deeper and darker still, especially on 'Heavy Petting' and the disturbing 'Coma Toy'. This is Kevin and Paul's most varied album since "With Extreme Prejudice" (Cold Spring 2011). Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve with 24-page booklet, with special portrait art throughout by Kevin Tomkins. |
YANA - 'Fou' CD (Aussaat) - £12
Finnish duo YANA stands for their unique, high quality sounds. With "Fou" they now present an extremely intense and harsh new album. "It's the noise that makes you want more, solid heavy noise with a lot of modulation, feedback and distorted sounds. The stuff that makes you feel small when played on high volume, which happens to be the stuff that makes you feel tall when you might be in a smallish mood... it's very enjoyable" (Vital Weekly). Ltd x 200 copies in a gatefold digisleeve. |

AN INNOCENT YOUNG THROAT-CUTTER & THE RITA - 'Wide-Eyed In The Dark' CD (4iB Records) - £11
This is an immersive collaboration between 2 heavyweight practitioners of the noise sub-genre Harsh Noise Wall: AIYTC (An Innocent Young Throat-Cutter) and The Rita. Wide-Eyed In The Dark features the ever prolific American noisemaker Richard Ramirez (Werewolf Jerusalem, Black Leather Jesus) with one of his HNW projects An Innocent Young Throat-Cutter, comprising partners in harsh noise, Sean E. Matzus, Sarada Holt, James Tallis and Monica Isabel Sanchez. Formed in 1994, Giallo horror-slasher theme takes centre stage in this noise project. With the cooperative inputs of prolific Canadian The Rita (aka Sam McKinlay of Black To Comm, Vice Wears Black Hose), expect nothing less than the double dose of relentless textural noise intensities as they put you through the aural abuse of pure abrasive harshness. Ltd x 250 copies in a digipak. |
EMMANUEL TUTS-SCHIEMSKY - 'Rust Voor De Stilte' CD (Arya / Amplexus) - £7
"Rust voor de Stilte" is inspired by fading memories and unattainable desires, with a distinct sense of yearning. A collection of blissful and melancholic atmospheric ambient musings, combining flowing, gentle synth washes and rhythms with elegant rhythmic structures. Bittersweet strains reminiscent of music box melodies transport the listener into a lulling sense of transcendentalism. Take a stylistic sampling of 90's era Robert Rich, some Steve Roach atmospheres, a little minimalism a la Phillip Glass, and what you have is this remarkable ambient album. Ltd x 1000 copies. |
KTT / VOMIR - 'Espace' CD (4iB Records) - £11
Collaboration between French HNW master Vomir (Romain Perrot) and Polish composer Kasper T. Toeplitz. "...the endless noise from Vomir versus the composed noise for laptop and bass guitar by Toeplitz... It is loud, surely is sir, loud as in Vomir loud, certainly in the opening piece... In terms of 'change' versus 'no change, [in the first 2 tracks] you haven't heard a Vomir with so much change... the Toeplitz trademark bass playing with bow, along with slowly shifting patterns of distorted hiss, a high piercing sound and a whole bunch of layers of hiss and distortion added... In the final piece Toeplitz and Vomir return to a more monolithic approach in noise... However minimal, there are subtle differences in this attack. It is all in all quite a fine collaboration, heavy as a mountain of course, and not something for early morning digest, yet with some caution and limited dosage this a most enjoyable mighty noise release". (Vital Weekly). Ltd x 300 copies in a gatefold digisleeve. |
LOREN NERELL - 'The Venerable Dark Cloud' 3" CD (Amplexus) - £7.50
An ambient hybrid of traditional Indonesian soundscapes and electronics - modern ambient drone music that melds with ancient tribal cultures to form something entirely new, sounding ages old. "The Venerable Dark Cloud" is a shadow-enshrouded meditation; a slow-moving journey into fully realized strange sonic places that offer our mind's eye a lot to consider. Its rhythmic elements balance perfectly with the long drifts, bringing a primal / tribal touch without moving the album fully into that realm. This is more about the mystery, the space inside, the secrets. A great work of ethno-ambient music, packaged in an oversized A5 folded paper sleeve with a plastic cover. Hand-numbered limited edition of 1000 copies. |
MACRONYMPHA - 'Infinite Perversion' CD (4iB Records) - £12
"Infinite Perversion" delivers 4 long tracks, totalling more than an hour of extreme harsh metal-junk industrial noise. This release is definitive in putting you through the true threshold test of mental tolerance by crushing you with pure multilayers of harsh analogue-tronics. Submit your senses and sanity to extreme provocation as you soak in the complexities of high and low frequencies while allowing the swirling madness envelope you in sonic chaos. Ltd x 250 copies in a digipak. |
MAURIZIO BIANCHI / CRAIG HILTON - 'PU94' CD (Silentes) - £9
CD reissue of this fantastic Italian/US collaboration created in 2007, originally released in a small edition on CDR. Extremely dark droning atmospheres, restless and dramatic... Sharp masses of metallic noises cleave pulsating substrates of low frequencies, mixed with magmatic agglomerates of more processed sounds of an unrecognizable nature... Moments of stasis and apparent quietness... Handfuls of minutes of hanging and distressing tension... Sudden showers of vibrant frequencies that emerge from nowhere and bury everything under a heavy and devastating sonic mantle... A real masterpiece of incredibly dark and subterranean music. |
QOD - 'Absequence' CD (Silentes) - £8
The debut album of a project showcasing the collaboration between Moreno Padoan (MP, Artcore Machine, Otur Boyd) and Andrea Bellucci (Red Sector A, Subterranean Source, Vetropaco). On "Absequence", Padoan's devastating Rhythmic Noise meets, merges and blends with Bellucci's polished IDM-Techno Ambient, giving life to nine tracks of pure electronic delirium. The album explores the possibilities offered by the meeting of two well-defined characters, who search for a communal code of expression, largely represented by intricate rhythmic textures and very refined and elaborate sounds. Comes in an outsized folded card sleeve. |
THE RITA - 'Female Statuesque' 7" (4iB Records) - £10
The Rita continues his journey through ballet fetishism. "Female Statuesque" is a complex work of obsessive research on discipline, elite beauty, and suffering in the world of ballet. Monolithic walls of harsh noise with the classic Sam McKinlay (BT.HN, Vice Wears Black Hose, Black To Comm) trademark style. Ltd x 200 hand-numbered copies in a cardboard sleeve with insert. |
WEREWOLF JERUSALEM - 'The Nightmares' CD (4iB Records) - £11
The Nightmares continue on with Richard Ramirez's (Black Leather Jesus, An Innocent Young Throat-Cutter) trademark tradition of Giallo influenced static noise terror. The contextual direction of this album puts the senses through a state of disturbing 'calm' by taking on its own story of a 'horror movie'. The frequent and sudden shifts of sound variations, samples of female shrieks, movie dialogues, static walls, pulsating buzzes, low frequency drones and textural noise layers of tightly spaced crackles sounding almost like one complete tonal resonance, and the sudden blast of explosive harsh white noise make this the most appropriate accompaniment to an environment of terror. The constant evolving and low growling frequencies and dynamic audio elements deliver that shocking atmosphere of sheer violence and skin crawling anxiety. Guest: A Week Of Kindness. Ltd x 200 copies. |

NURSE WITH WOUND - 'Soliloquy For Lilith' 3 x CD Boxset 1st Ed. Green Foil (Dirter) - £30
A high water mark of drone and dark ambient spheres, "Soliloquy For Lilith" is perhaps the most revered of Steven Stapleton's prism pushers as Nurse With Wound - a massive influence on everything from AFX's 'SAW II' to Coil and Sunn O))) "Originally recorded and released in 1988, Nurse With Wound's ambient opus was years ahead of its time, a ground-breaking set of atmospheric sound patterns designed for ritual ceremonies. Hailed as a masterpiece on release, it soon became a firm favourite of NWW fans and topped the world ambient chart for over three months!" Originally a limited-edition three-album set housed in a handsome 12-inch gold and black foil embossed box, this new edition, a CD facsimile of the original vinyl set, contains the entire album plus 40 minutes of superb quality, previously unreleased music from the original sessions. Comes in a clamshell boxset with green foil-block artwork. Long sold out from the label and very few copies in stock! |
DIRK SERRIES + ASMUS TIETCHENS - 'Die Höfner Akten' CD (Auf Abwegen) - £12
A new collaborative work by two veterans of the European experimental scene: Dirk Serries (Vidna Obmana / Fear Falls Burning) + Asmus Tietchens (Kontakt Der Jünglinge, Hematic Sunsets, ex-Doc Wör Mirran). Long-time colleagues and friends, Serries and Tietchens have exchanged sound materials to be reworked and published on an on and off basis since the 90's. The improvisations on "Die Höfner Akten" use a Höfner acoustic guitar as the exclusive source material by Serries with its basic structure. Tietchens then reworked source material provided in such a way that the character of his improvisations would remain intact while at the same time expanding the sound palette through further manipulations. "In doing so we hoped the results would sound equally like Serries or Tietchens, or - even better - like none of us" (Asmus Tietchens). "The genius of this album lies in the parallelism, or marriage, between the ectoplasmic non-forms born from Tietchens' radical alteration of the guitar's DNA, and the primordial avatar of the instrument, audibly present in every improvisational fragment by Serries" (Touching Extremes). Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak. |
THE RITA - 'The Princesses' MCD (Rural Isolation Project) - £11
The theme of the latest Harsh Noise Wall assault by The Rita (aka Sam McKinlay of Black To Comm, Vice Wears Black Hose) is fallen princesses. The first 15-minute track concerns the tale of Princess Aurora, an impetuous girl fixated on the spindle. She wields it like a scepter as she dances, but pricks her finger and, in a passage reminiscent of the mad scene in Giselle (as well as Nikia's death scene in La Bayadere). She dances brokenly and finally falls down, unconscious. The second 15-minute track concerns Princesse de Lamballe, "a little lady dressed in white". She was dragged into the courtyard, stabbed through and through, mutilated, decapitated. Her head was carried in triumph through Paris on a pike, her heart upon another, her body dragged after. The shrieking mob dressed the head again, rouged the dead lips and cheeks, "for they would carry the prize to Antoinette in her prison, and it was necessary she should recognize her friend". A piece of theatre in itself, all source sounds here are of a woman's body dragged on a tile floor with the participation of Gabrielle Losoncy.

SIMON BALESTRAZZI - 'Redshift' CD (Azoth) - £11
Primitive recordings by Simon Balestrazzi (T.A.C., Candor Chasma, Daimon, Hidden Reverse, Dream Weapon Ritual, Sarang and more) using self-made instruments and objects resulting in a high-quality album with a strong Z'EV feel; with beautiful roars and gurgling sounds centred on metal. "Formal experiments in modern music and sound art, with the emphasis on percussion. What starts out as rather stark and skeletal set full of rattles and clangs gradually grows more flesh on its bones, with added drones, singing, and more complex layers of vibrated objects and field recordings added to the mix... The vibrated objects, for instance metal bars or pieces of plastic, are sometimes placed on top of the drums for extra resonant properties; the same goes for his voice... a stately drone produced by five loopers comes close to delivering a certain hypnotic effect..." The Sound Projector. Ltd x 200 copies in a gatefold cardboard sleeve with booklet. |
ECHO WEST - 'Reincarnation Of Doubts' CD (Dark Vinyl) - £12
After a 5-year break Echo West present their brand new album, featuring 11 tracks of cold EBM, Analogue Minimal Electro and Angst Pop. During the creation of these songs analogue equipment was used consciously, in order to do justice to the spirit and feeling of their EBM idols The Klinik, Vomitor Negro, and especially DAF. An homage to the revolutionary analogue 80's and a departure or breakout after the long Corona forced break and the endless weeks in isolation. 11 songs to dance and enjoy the new freedom! Ltd x 500 copies in a 6-panel ecopak. |
MOLD - 'Mold' CD (Satatuhatta) - £11.50
Mold is new French-Finnish collaboration by two very distinguishable noise artists known from the projects like H.Ö.H. and Violent Shogun. Together they have produced a very detailed noise album that has the signature sound of both by means of crude tape loops and broken mixers. While not being overly harsh on the surface, it dives into molecular levels of sound, examining the origins of texture and stretching the possibilities of tape magic. Usually, when looked close enough, things are at their roughest and reveal the harsh layers they are made of. Mastered by Jaakko Vanhala. 6-panel digipak. |
