GENESIS P-ORRIDGE & DAVE BALL - 'Imagining October' (Derek Jarman) O.S.T. 12" Etched £21 |

 |
The first new album in 14 years from LULL - the pioneering, isolationist dark ambient project of MICK HARRIS (SCORN, FRET, ex-NAPALM DEATH).
"I finally heard the way of recording, making profound sounds. Lull is purely something I can get lost in, as far as trying to create these imaginary spaces.
LULL is quite natural for me. It's an extension of me. Drifting. Just going to darkness. Into a space. LULL is drifting and droning, discovering more and more what can be done with sound. These soundscapes hugely appeal to me".
CD in a matt digipak with majestic artwork by Abby Helasdottir (Gydja).
COMBO: 'That Space Somewhere' CD + 'Moments' 2LP Brown £31

 |
A history lesson, recorded in autumn 1989. Unavailable for over 20 years in any format, "Malfeitor" is the classic album from Swedish Black Industrial act Maschinenzimmer 412.
This is evil incarnate, staring into the abyss. With a more lyrical approach than the predecessor "Macht Durch Stimme", "Malfeitor" explores themes of death, with an unequivocal dystopian outlook.
Cavernous heavy industrial, primitive machine rhythms, and cold metallic loops created on old synths with very little post-production. Originally released on LP in 1989 (CMI) this monumental album is now available for the first time since 2001. Also available on digital for the first time ever!
Mastered from the original 4-track tapes.
Matt-laminate digipak with new artwork.

The first ever release of the soundtrack to the rarely-seen DEREK JARMAN 1984 short film "Imagining October", with music recorded by Derek's friend and collaborator Genesis P-Orridge (PSYCHIC TV / THROBBING GRISTLE), and Dave Ball (SOFT CELL / THE GRID). Recorded at DJM recording studios in Theobalds Road, London.
Jarman considered it one of the best, if not the best, of his shorter works. It was intended as an agit-prop work and the combination of music and imagery remains powerful to this day.
Limited Edition 12" vinyl featuring a beautiful etched B-Side. Features liner notes by James Mackay (Jarman's producer, collaborator and archivist).

The third album from the Australian post-industrial outfit is a merciless and visceral assault on the senses. An uncompromising force of harsh post-industrial music created with a wide variety of metals, raw materials, metal grates, a rusted hoist, cement cylinders, field recordings, hammering of various decrepit objects, broken amplifiers, various synthesizers, and the infamous metal coil. Much of the creation and lyrical conceptualisation of the record has been stylised and presented using William S. Burroughs' cut-up method.
Mastering: James Plotkin. Art: Nullvoid (T. Ekelund | Trepaneringsritualen).
CD in 6-panel digipak || LP in reverse board sleeve and printed inner lyric sleeve.
CD LP
 |
The hugely sought-after debut album from DEAD VOICES ON AIR (Mark Spybey of DOWNLOAD / ex-ZOVIET FRANCE, REFORMED FACTION), featuring cEvin Key (SKINNY PUPPY / DOWNLOAD).
"Abrader" blends processed sounds from primitive instruments and found objects into hypnotic loped rhythmic structures, with dark clusters of heavy ambient washes into Organic Panambience, or 'music for the eyes'.
Features previously-unreleased bonus tracks recorded 1994 - taking this masterwork up to 7 tracks and over 67 minutes of exceptional music. Matt-laminate digipak with art by Spybey.
 |
The brand new album from the ritual / industrial / dark ambient act who create music at abandoned industrial locations.
"A portal to another world is located inside an abandoned Soviet-era swamp drain near a residential building in the Zakamsk suburb of Perm, Russia, 58.0122, 55.9623. A ritual was performed here, so now we are living in an inside-out world. This is one of the last recordings inside our Temple - the oil tanks are finally scrapped. Dedicated to the victims of totalitarian regimes".
A vision of a decaying post-industrial age. For fans of: Raison D'etre, Shibalba, Phurpa.
6-panel digipak.

ADRIANO ZANNI & ENRICO CONIGLIO - 'A Corte' CD + Art Booklet (13 / Silentes) - £18
A visual, photographic and aural investigation of contemporary mountain landscape change. "A Corte" is a photographic work by Adriano Zanni, a selection of excerpts, part of a much larger work of photographic and aural research / documentation carried out around the architectures of the former Eni Mountain Village in Corte di Cadore (Belluno, Italy) conducted over the last 15 years. This work consists of a 24-page A4 art booklet with an equal number of photographs coming with a companion "sonorization" created by Adriano Zanni and Enrico Coniglio (Lemures, Aqua Dorsa), in which field recordings and sounds are mixed giving shape to an ambient soundtrack that deeply explores folds of the soul of a place, overstepping reality to become a dream. A total immersion in an "other" dimension among woods, villas, tents, camping, village, colony, church. Among the mountains of Cadore. Human intervention modifying nature and occupying it by integrating into its space through architecture, nature reshaping spaces by (re)settling among structures in the form of a pulsating living organism, an ecosystem, a forest. Ltd x 200 copies with printed vellum overwrap.

BRUNO DORELLA - 'Paradiso' CD (13 / Silentes) - £12
Italian musician and producer Bruno Dorella (OvO, Sigillum S) guides us to his new album "Paradiso", with music for the contemporary dance and performing arts company Gruppo Nanou. They defined a common conception of rhythm, creating the illusion of something wrong together but perfectly timed. In reality, these rhythms are parallel planes that travel in time with each other, even if out of phase. A transitive operation between scene and sound, bodies and the material density of sounds, vibrations and motion. The beauty of this musical work is that it is concrete matter and at the same time it is a precise thought. Parallel, overlapping, sinuous rhythms, in addition to abstract guitars and voice from Francesca Amati (Amycanbe / Comaneci) and Elisabetta Da Rold. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak.

DEATHWALK - 'Djevelens Urkraft' CD (Zazen Sounds) - £12
Following a split album with Shibalba and Dead Man's Hill, Deathwalk finally return from the shadows, raising from the asphyxiating misanthropic Norwegian unlight their long waited debut album. Ideated and developed in a period of nearly three years, Deathwalk present a further sound evolution, a deeper ritualisation of the audio experience. An obscure, cruel, misanthropic opus channelling the individual psyche through the nexion, the acausal dimensions, the hidden forces of Darkness while enhancing the pitch black aura of the Death's breath. Six hymns (56 mins) of pure ritualistic sinister ambience, devoted to the majestic primordial ruling force of the Devil and the Abyss. A cinematic sound visual approach, a deadly crossing between ritual voices, invocations, chants and eerie soundscapes marks into the cold obscurity an album beyond humanity. Features guest contributions from No One (T.O.M.B.), Stielh (New Risen Throne) and NecrosHorns. 6-panel digisleeve. Already sold out from the label!
|
DEVIL'S BREATH - 'Embrace Of The Serpent' CD (Zazen Sounds) - £12
"Embrace Of The Serpent" continues with the theme of Devil's Breath's recent album "March Of The Wounded". Celebrative Dronish Dark Ambient and Industrial Tribal Ritual dedicated to the guardians of our planet, hence the Amazon Tribes. It is the gratitude and recognition to the ones who have been unjustifiably murdered for the cause of defending The Forest and to the ones who are still defending it today.
"Embrace Of The Serpent" points at the need to soul search our own selves as human beings because as a species we have, at some stage in history, devolved into manifesting a very disturbing behaviour, culture and mindset, where we embrace the destruction of the natural world through pollution, unsustainable development and capitalism, and driving the remaining forests into extinction. Gatefold digisleeve. Already sold out from the label!

ESPLENDOR GEOMETRICO - '1980-1982' 2 x CD (Staalplaat) - £16
Reissue of the 1993 double CD set collating the very first releases of Spanish Industrial / Rhythmic Noise outfit Esplendor Geometrico. CD1 includes the cassette EG-1 (c-60), originally released in 1981 on Datenverarbeitung. CD2 includes their first LP "El Acero Del Partido" originally released in 1982 on the Tic Tac label, plus their first single "Necrosis En La Poya" - containing three themes - originally released in 1981 on Tic Tac in an edition of 500 copies. |
GINTAS K & MICHELLE O'ROURKE - 'Sorry Gold' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
A studio album from Lithuanian artist Gintas K. in cooperation with Irish singer Michelle O'Rourke, composed and recorded for the performance / film "Sorry Gold" by Emily Aoibheann. "If aerial is the dance of industrial technology, what will the dance of biotechnology be? This new work reinvigorates performance as a living and speculative environmental form, counter to a culture of repetition and resurrection, holding fast to an idea that the future is possible, desirable and beautiful. This performance is part one of a twin-production project on the themes of civilisation and nature".
This recording was made on stage at the Project Arts Center in Dublin, during the making of "Sorry Gold". The artists improvised to the visual landscape of the rehearsal space, stage design and dancers. This CD contains the soundtrack as a standalone piece within a broader production. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel gold & black ecopak.

HET ZWEET - 'Het Zweet' 2 x LP WHITE (Staalplaat) - £29
Originally released in 1987 by Dossier, this self-titled album from Het Zweet ("The Sweat" in English) feels like one is listening to something that's both much more current and also much, much older than that. Marien Van Oers, who passed away in 2013, made music that tended to get classed as "industrial", with steady, clanging churns demonstrating why, but he was as or more inspired by tribal music producing trance-like effects via rhythm and repetition. Using self-made instruments, the music of Het Zweet locks into rhythms that somehow feel more elemental and physical than many of his contemporaries.
The tribal drumming, the invocations, and the loops of acoustic sound add an entirely different rhythm to the game - think Z'EV meets early Muslimgauze and Test Department. An excellent record, remastered with great care by Radboud Mens. The bonus material included on this reissue expands "Het Zweet" with a second LP consisting entirely of previously unreleased material that belie their disparate origins with a unity of sound and purpose. Ltd x 400 copies on 180g heavy white vinyl, in a two colour, hand-screenprinted and numbered special Gmund paper sleeve sewn top and bottom, with spot-varnish detail. Comes with dowload code. |
KRVNA - 'Long Forgotten Relic' MCD (Zazen Sounds) - £12
Australian Black Metal act Krvna explores the vampire mythos from ancient biblical times to the black forests and mountainous castle crypts of the Balkans and Carpathians, rooted firmly in the romance tradition of Gothic literature and Byronic vampyrism.
In addition to the original tracks featured on their demo, this remastered CD release is also adorned with bonus material - the truly massive undertakings that will come to be known as 'Tithonus I' & 'Tithonus II'. Revisit 2021's best kept secret, immerse yourself within the grandeur of Long Forgotten Relic's magic and equally breathtaking bonus material. Bear witness to the monumental rise of the enigma that is KRVNA! Gatefold digisleeve. Already sold out from the label!

MUSLIMGAUZE - 'Muhammadunize' CD (Staalplaat) - £14
"Muhammadunize" has what could be called a classic Muslimgauze feel to it, with a familiar blend of drones, string instruments, synths, and varying percussion / break-beat patterns, in turn mixed with a number of hard-to-catch vocal samples. Bryn Jones still manages to keep things just fresh enough, incorporating the basic power of his work in the tracks with both beauty and a hard-to-define tension.
The sound palette of "Muhammadunize" is very similar to his ambient-techno albums such as "Mullah Said" and "Gun Aramaic", down to the rhythms and the trademark tanpura drones and keys in C minor. The difference is that it's a bit more aggressive and faster-paced than the aforementioned albums, thus utilising a similar dark atmosphere to a more immediate effect, especially as noted by the drum-kit urban-sounding pulse of 'Imad Akel', one of the high points on this album. Recorded and mixed at Abraham Mosque, Manchester 1996. Ltd x 300 numbered copies in a stunning hand screenprinted textured cover which features silver foilprint, spot-varnished details and sewn sides. |
MUSLIMGAUZE - 'Sandtrafikar' CD (Staalplaat) - £13
"Sandtrafikar" fits into the vein of such Muslimgauze works as "Zul'm" and "Drugsherpa", with a low-key propulsion balanced against generally downbeat, dark arrangements, all succeeding in conveying a sense of beauty and mystery mixed with a strange, slight dread. The opening tracks share elements such as a recurrent conversation and moody keyboards and signature bells. The following tracks ratchet up the brooding feeling even more: soft machine-like growlss and wheezes rise from deep in the mix, with only an occasional bell and brief echoing samples of percussion and string instruments, until a growth in general intensity at the end. "Sandtrafikar" concludes with a "Remix By The Rootsman" which finds the UK dub / dance figure tackling the title song; a rough, shuffling bass drone mix and a fine conclusion to one of Bryn Jones' best albums. Second edition. Ltd x 800 copies with booklet printed on iridescent green paper. |
OLD CASTLE - 'Artwork 51' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
"Artwork 51" is Robin Storey (Rapoon, ex-Zoviet France), Robert Pepper (Pas Musique) and Shaun Sandor (Promute). The intercontinental trio consistently continues and develops its formula of psychedelic electronics, using quite similar instruments and sound objects. As on the previous "Welcome To Graceland" album, you can hear echoes of music close to the achievements of Cluster, Deuter or Neu. Here everything seems to be even more coherent, refined in terms of sound and composition, although at times able to surprise the listener with ingenuity and openness to cross-genre experiments. A 40-minute trip based on the kraut formula, implemented during improvisation, capable of putting the listener in a kind of trance. Ltd x 350 copies in a 6-panel digipak.
|
OPEN TO THE SEA - 'Tales From An Underground River' CD (13 / Silentes) - £12
Open To The Sea are Enrico Coniglio (Lemures, Aqua Dorsa) and Matteo Uggeri (Sparkle In Grey). "Tales From An Underground River" was begun in winter
2019 by Coniglio when he recorded two long and multi-layered sets of improvisation with piano, guitar and synths.
This material was sent to Uggeri who added and removed sounds, arranged tracks with a few beats and a wide variety of instruments (violin, drums, trumpet, cello).
Over the following 3 years, the tracks were then dismantled and re-assembled, while a concept started to take form from amongst the sounds. The floating and fluid but mysterious nature of the tracks conceived the "underground river" idea. A continuous stream of sound, from ambient to progressive, to post rock, embracing jazz and an overall new-wave melancholic attitude. The titles of the tracks come from a poem which coalesced into the "tales" told by the waters. The artwork is a painting by Matteo's mother, the animator Roberta Casini who passed away shortly before the record was released. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak with printed vellum cover.

RAPOON - 'Skulls On The Plains Of Turkey' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
On his latest album, Robin Storey (Rapoon, ex-Zoviet France) once again invites us on a musical journey to the exotic world of the Orient, sparkling with many delicately woven miniatures, based on fragments of melodies, heard as if in the deep sleep phase, when sounds and images reaching us from a distance gently fill the space, giving the impression of an integral part of it. The tracks are filled with tribal rhythms, vocals and a wide palette of colours; an extremely coherent, slightly pulsating ambient emerges in the spirit of the best Rapoon albums. "Skulls On The Plains Of Turkey" is also a kind of musical story, inspired by one of those moments when the surrounding space and seemingly ordinary events make us reflect deeper. "Sitting at a table in front of a bar by the sea in Chania, watching the crashing waves and enjoying the beauty of this place, I watched a ball of white light moving from behind the eastern headland and disappearing behind the west. It was moving at speeds impossible for a boat or plane.
I looked around to see if anyone else noticed... but everyone was just staring at the glass screens of their phones". All this can be read somewhere in the small phrases and compositional structures on which this meditative, slightly reflective concept was based. Ltd x 400 copies in a gold and black print digipak.
|
RICHTER SCALE - 'A Ripple On The Richter Scale Parts 1 & 2' 2 x CD (Ultra-Mail Prod.) - £26
The second step in a long distance project, born on a singularly bright star. Michel Leroy (Thanatoloop) sent a collection of piano pieces made in his home in Santiago, Chile to Edward Ka-Spel (THE LEGENDARY PINK DOTS) in London. The ultimate destination was a truly beautiful place... This is a project that will most certainly continue. Additional instruments (violin, electronics, keyboards, electric guitar, flute, drums) on this album come from: The Silverman, Barry Gray, Paulo Rojas, Diego Pinto, and Constanza Lagos. Originally released on cassette in 2014 in an edition of just 50 copies, this reissue contains a further disc of bonus tracks. Ltd x 120 copies in a beautiful matt-laminate, flood-printed cardboard wallet with two printed inner sleeves, designed by Marco Roberti (Dead Voices On Air).

SYNTA[XE]RROR - 'Element [OFF] Crime' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
Compared to broken electronics / IDM / slight Industrial feel of their previous album "[.] DOT", this new material from the duo SYNTA[XE]RROR brings many changes. They deal with electronics in the IDM convention, but more massive, because the emphasis is on building structures based on a heavy kick drum and strongly dehumanized, almost mechanical rhythm. Multilayered percussion, with a rough, almost metallic sound, thickening with every minute of the slowly unraveling machine, announcing the inevitable cataclysm, crime or maybe apocalypse. Coming to life in the '90s, Synta[XE]rror is the duo of Bartosz "Kostia" Jakubicki and Artur "Blacha" Blaszczyk, hailing from Wroclaw. Ltd x 300 copies in an ecopak.
|
VIDNA OBMANA & PBK - 'Monument Of Empty Colours + Depression And Ideal' 2 x CD (Zoharum) - £16
Dirk Serries (VIDNA OBMANA / FEAR FALLS BURNING) in collaboration with Phillip B. Klinger, better known as PBK. In the past, these gentlemen undertook joint initiatives several times, with a lot of material in common. This release features the two most expressive albums, "Monument Of Empty Colours" and "Depression And Ideal", both originally released in 1989. Many similarities can be found in the material, both in terms of composition and sound, resulting in a coherent, even monolithic whole, built of smaller, expressive parts. This explains why they were published on two separate CDs, but enclosed in one digipak, with one graphic design connecting the two parts of a larger whole. Both discs are filled with tracks characterized by a raw and dark sound, fitting into the convention of post-industrial dark ambient.
All material from both sessions has been remastered for this release. Ltd x 400 copies in a 6-panel double digipak.

ANDREW LILES - 'Blood Theme' CD (Ultra-Mail Prod.) - £18
Another addition to the ever-expanding MONSTER series of releases by experimental sound artist and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Liles (Nurse With Wound / Current 93). This time we have an 80's themed bloodbath of all new material. Comes in a thick stock mini LP sleeve with amazing cover artwork by Japanese guro manga artist and "grandmaster of the grotesque" Shintaro Kago. Black inner sleeve with silver foil block printing. Ltd x 100 copies. |
COH - 'Mort Aux Vaches' CD (Staalplaat) - £12
CoH ('sleep' in Russian) is Ivan Pavlov. A superb extended track lasting just under 40 minutes, made up from original static pulsations, mobile phone tones, wild tempo changes, chirping synth pops and rasping drones. CoH's music is all derived from his laptop, but unlike many others, he's one of the very few to produce glitch music that is warm, atmospheric and almost lyrical. The recordings on this CD was his set that he prepared for his Paradiso concert, Amsterdam in 1999. Excellent music from the Raster-Noton and Coil related artist (his work with the two members of Coil resulted in an EP for Eskaton, Coil's own label). Ltd x 1000 hand-numbered copies in an amazing hand-crafted hatstand wood veneer art sleeve. |
THE DEATH & BEAUTY FOUNDATION - 'A Reanimated Corpse 1982-1985' CD + T-Shirt (Ultra-Mail Prod.) - £38
For this release, the UK experimental / avant-garde group The Death & Beauty Foundation, were renowned visual artist and founder VAL DENHAM, Elita Denham, Oli Novadnieks, Gerry Hobday, and Danny Loka, with spoken sections from Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson (COIL, THROBBING GRISTLE), and Genesis P-Orridge (PSYCHIC TV, THROBBING GRISTLE). Recorded in Seven Sisters, London 1982-85, these recordings have been taken from the original 2-track reel to reel tapes. Previously self-released by Val Denham in a tiny run of 23 CDRs in 2010, this is the first time on CD for these 19 tracks. Remastered by Anatoly Tokee Grinberg. The accompanying red t-shirt features a black and white print of the group's skull & rose logo. Size Large only, Topix brand. Ltd x 100 copies with art by Val Denham. |

ORGANUM ELECTRONICS - 'Wildness' CD (Siren Records) - £14.50
The 5th and final volume of Organum Electronics, the ultra heavy Drone Noise project of British artist David Jackman. The difference from his main project, Organum, is that it literally uses electronics as a material for creating sounds. Lighting flashes through the ether and rain whips the earth violently from the innermost depths, the pale light of candles a constancy. A midnight torrent overflows and marks time in solitude... Order flows through chaos. Every step of the spiral is forever surging and altered yet everlasting... The sounds draw out to an inner sea turning to dark fundamental notes and overtones... The voice of wildness resonating in an impenetrable world that continues to churn and swirl Between cathode and anode - iron filings pattern around a magnet... The water rises, returning as rain changed to smoke and reappearing as vapour. The mass of the earth compressing the rocks. Fire changes everything, rising and falling, opening and closing... "With Organum Electronics, the minimal approach lies in the single long-form piece of electronic sounds. David Jackman, the man behind Organum/Electronics, is never too forthcoming when sharing techniques, instruments and other such trivia... My best guess is that Jackman somehow had access to a modular electronics set-up for a while and worked out a way to be quite extreme. A monolithic sound approach" (Vital Weekly). Ltd x 500 copies in a digisleeve. |
KLEISTWAHR - 'Winter' LP (Helen Scarsdale Agency) - £20
Kleistwahr is the solo project of Gary Mundy, the legendary power electronics and noise-rock musician, founding member of RAMLEH, and boss of the highly influential Broken Flag label. Solemn drones and elegiac long-form passages gird Kleistwahr's "Winter", which often chimes, glistens, and glows through a unhurried constructs for organ, synth, guitar, and electronics. Yet Mundy pivots throughout with triumphant explosions of shrill noise, redlined overload, and harrowingly anguished vocals from the great unknown. This is quintessential Kleistwahr. "Winter" was originally published as part of the 10-cassette anthology set "On Corrosion" from 2019 and now finally sees a well-deserved standalone release. Mastered by James Plotkin. Ltd x 300 copies with download card. |
VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Dracula (Music Inspired By The Bram Stoker's Novel)' CD (Eighth Tower Records / Unexplained Sounds) - £12
Dracula is the embodiment of Satan for the Victorian age. The character is sinister, cunning, repulsive, sickening. He is quite different to the suave gentleman that any of the films depict him as. He is an old man who grows younger when gorged with blood. He is a walking, rotting corpse, the opposite to us and a reminder of our own mortality. Perhaps the novel's popularity has always been in its ability to make one feel like order has been restored through a strong empathy with the characters. We feel that we have become part of their existence through reading their diaries, letters and hearing their phonograph recordings. Dispelling the shadows and bringing light where once there was only fear in darkness... subduing the beast within us and aspiring to righteousness. This collection celebrates the 125th anniversary of Bram Stoker's "Dracula", with international musicians bringing their musical interpretation of this modern myth. With gloomy dark ambient, droning soundscapes and electroacoustic compositions, all the pieces are inspired by chapters, scenes, or characters from the novel. Features: Dead Space Chamber Music, Subterranean Source, Onasander & Les Anges Morts, Michael Bonaventure, Grey Frequency, David Strother, Rapoon, [ówt krì], Kloob, Mario Lino Stancati, Howlround, and Henrik Meierkord. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digipak with art by John Chadwick.

ARKTAU EOS - 'Catacomb Resonator' CD (Aural Hypnox) - £13.50
Every man is a catacomb resonator; our very being resounds with hidden desires, dreams of unknown origin, and deeper still, primordial voices of our buried ancestry. We are a labyrinth unto ourselves; and equally we stand as a totem-pole at the crossroads of a universe, gazing into distant horizons. We are a nameless grave from which the self divine may rise to witness new constellations light up on the darkening firmament.
It is this process which the sixth Arktau Eos album attempts to convey: led by abyssal psalmody, the sonic tapestry is interwoven with dusty, crackling electronics of a bygone era and other, subtler elements for an all-enveloping sound that readily lends itself to prolonged listening sessions. Between the two segments, mixed as a seamless whole, lies the secret canticle: heard by few, yet ever present. Ltd x 423 copies enclosed in a customised, screen-printed 7" outsized 6-panel cardboard cover with booklet.
|
STELZER / MURRAY - 'Commit' LP (Helen Scarsdale Agency) - £20
Unnerving, industrial occultation that harkens back to an almost forgotten period of music from the late '80s and early '90s (think Cranioclast, Arcane Device, Small Cruel Party, Organum). The third collaborative album from Howard Stelzer and Brendan Murray is exquisitely composed and overtly nocturnal without ever falling into the tropes of dark ambient and with plenty of gestures, signals, and threats that allude to any number of allegorically inclined processes (i.e. tape manipulation, time-delay accumulation, electro-acoustic minimalism, etc.). Its creators work in ways that are both deeply intense, intuitive and intimate. Ltd x 200 copies on in a reverseboard sleeve. Mastered by James Plotkin. Comes with download card.

LUGOLA - 'Deform (Live At XX Wroclaw Industrial Festival)' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
This concert of the Polish Power Electronics project was recorded during the 20th edition of the legendary Wroclaw Industrial Festival. It contains an interesting performance, more selective, stronger and more powerful versions of songs known partly from the debut, "You Are Not Special". "Deform" brings a huge dose of raw electronics meat, enriched with emotional charge ranging from excitement to anger, even stronger means of communication that accompanied the creator during the performance. Taking its musical cues from classic harsh noise, power electronics and death industrial breaks - all kinds of limitations without any interest in the listener's comfort. A great complement to Lugola's discography, showing that the real potential of the project lies in live performances.
Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
HALO MANASH - 'Haudattujen Valvoja' CD (Aural Hypnox) - £13
The material on this Halo Manash album weaves together the sacred meetings of the group over the course of four years.
The sonic portals in "Haudattujen Valvoja" are all authentic live recordings captured in the group's private Temple Hwaar. Slowly submerging, distant hymns performed mostly through self-made instrumentation and found Otherworldly Roots, with all instruments manipulated live through amps, cabinets and amplified speakers. Compared to earlier Halo Manash albums, the resurrected resonances in "Haudattujen Valvoja" lean towards a more unpolished yet flowing elemental sound. The elemental, rhythmical language of "Haudattujen Valvoja" fosters a shimmering yet haunting haze, that guides the perceptive listener far from the domain of conscious and logical mind towards the subliminal realms where the posture of Aqua-Aurorae awaits. Ltd x 400 copies enclosed in a customised, silk screen-printed cardboard cover, including an 8-panel booklet and four, two-sided insert cards.

ANA FOSCA - 'Poised At The Edge Of Structure' CD (Helen Scarsdale Agency) - £11.50
Ana Fosca is a woman raging, wrestling, communing, and plainly preoccupied with the humanity's propensity for tragedy, violence, and blight. It is with a particular strain of noise - dour, miserable, frightening - through which she harnesses these conditions. Fosca honed her craft by with constant performances throughout Denmark, Sweden, and Germany, especially through the dynamic community of Mayhem in her native Copenhagen. The feral expressionism she developed in performance is matched by a numerous, existential and conceptual antecedents that inform Fosca's work. On "Poised..." she evinces her gesamtkunstwerk as Ana Fosca in all of its harrowing portent, composing along cyclonic patterns of oppositional forces, searing noise, and ominous drone, bellowing repetitive chants deep in the mix; a cathartic incantation where meaning can be found within all of this agony and despair. Describing the album as the "mathematics of grief", Fosca never settles into the tropes of power electronics, dark ambient, death industrial, or electroacoustic practices, but absorbs the most impactful facets to all these aesthetics. Akin to the fraught psychological proclamations of Puce Mary, or the violent miasma of Maeror Tri / Troum at their most industrial. Mastered by Grant Richardson (Gnawed). 6-panel reverseboard digipak.

CAPRICORNI PNEUMATICI - 'Nibbas' CD (Eighth Tower Records / Unexplained Sounds) - £12
The rediscovery of the cult 1989 tape cassette "Nibbas" by Capricorni Pneumatici, originally released by Minus Habens, and now presented on CD for the first time. The band took their name from the Aleister Crowley "Liber A' ASH vel Capricorni Pneumatici SUB FIGURA CCCVII", and between 1987-1991 were one of the most active projects of the esoteric / industrial Italian underground. "The music is tempered and gritty with a great deal of variety on the micro level... The underlying sources include field recordings of natural and human-made sounds, as well as synth and vocal elements, post-industrial clangs, heavily processed voices, sweeping textures, waves, oscillations, drones, and walls of sound... an experimental gem [which] uncannily predicted the future directions of a genre that did not exist at the time." (Avant Music News). Ltd x 200 copies in a digipak.
