Cold Spring is proud to present a unique collaboration between Industrial Breakbeat pioneers MEAT BEAT MANIFESTO (Jack Dangers) and the undisputed king of Japanese noise, MERZBOW (Masami Akita).
"We may not speak the same language, but in the vortex of sound, there's a raw, primal understanding that transcends words. Noise can be art, a visual representation could maybe be Jackson Pollock's No 5, a plexus of chaos redefining what music can and could be. Pushing boundaries with Masami wasn't just a musical adventure, it was a masterclass in sonic anarchy" (Jack Dangers, January 2024).
"Extinct" sees the duo take listeners on a transcendental journey, focusing on the dismantling of beat and structure and recycling the result through layers of beautifully crafted noise and feedback loops, giving birth to new rhythms buried deep in the dirt.
The 20 minute opener '!FLAKKA¡' takes constantly evolving breakbeats which are gradually broken down over time, driven through a filter of harsh noise, destroying the old to give birth to the new. Raw and unforgiving, the track is a behemoth that blends mutant forms of broken beats and hints of dub, creating rhythmic noise of the highest calibre in the process.
'Burner' takes the record to its ultimate conclusion, the initial drum beat broken down so that it is barely recognisable. Pulsating distortion and high end audio fragments bleed into each other as the track lumbers forth and destroys everything in its path before slowly unravelling, degrading and falling apart.
A harrowing yet somewhat cathartic trip through walls of harsh industrial noise and audio degradation, "Extinct" is a masterful pairing of artists who have delivered something truly unique yet totally relevant. Don't sleep on this one! (Todd Robinson / Subunit)

CORRUPTED - 'Felicific Algorithm / Mushikeras'

Corrupted is a mysterious Japanese doom metal band, formed in 1994. Immensely downtuned guitar and crushingly slow bass are shrouded under deep layers of feedback. They are rightly hailed as one of the heaviest and darkest doom metal bands of all time.
This is not a simple reissue of the 2018 multi-speed, vinyl-only release "Felicific Algorithim" (Cold Spring). Though the first two tracks were created using the same field recordings / source material captured in Amagasaki, Osaka, and Fukushima, the tracks have been carefully reworked into a much darker sound. The new track titles 'Felicific Algiorithm' and 'Felicific Aligorithm' reflect this; like a mind virus appearing the same at first glance.
The 27-minute track 'Mushikeras' was recorded 2022-23 as a four-piece line-up of Kaz Mike (howling guitar and bass), Rie Lambdoll (vocal and bass), Mark Y. (guitar and bass), and Chew (drum and high carbon steel). A self-released digital-only track in autumn '23, this is the first physical manifestation of this doom metal behemoth, full of loud sludge, funeral dirge, haunting whispers / howling harsh vocals, and atmospheric build-ups.

LULL - 'Journey Through Underworlds'

The classic, genre-defining 1993 album from LULL - the pioneering, isolationist dark ambient project of MICK HARRIS of SCORN, FRET, ex-NAPALM DEATH - is a dark journey through the Stygian netherworlds of Hell.
The listener is left with the impression of a final escape into reality; a return upon waking, with only wispy trace memories and the heavy rush of blood-pumping fear as a keepsake.
With this album, we are plunged back into a dark pit of noise - all escape barred, all hope dashed. The nightmare continues, the journey through underworlds descends deeper. These are soundtracks for Nightmares. Despite there being just three tracks on the album, it lasts just shy of 75 minutes.
Originally released on Sentrax (the label of the late John Everall / Tactile), the CD suffered the 'disc rot' fate of many PDO pressings from 1988-1993, rendering most of that initial run unplayable.
Mixed by Justin K Broadrick (GODFLESH). Remastered by Martin Bowes (The Cage Studios) from the original recordings supplied by Mick Harris.

Released for the first time on any format, we proudly present the soundtrack to the 2020 sci-fi horror film 'Sputnik' (directed by Egor Abramenko).
The bleak and hauntingly atmospheric film is accompanied by an impressively heavy soundtrack from Oleg Karpachev, who uses bombastic percussion, stirring strings, and otherworldly synths to convey the horror unfolding on screen.
Set during Cold War Soviet Russia, the ominous film starring Oksana Akinshina (Bourne Supremacy), Fedor Bondarchuk, and Pyotr Fyodorov Jr follows the story of a cosmonaut returning from space with a mysterious extraterrestrial organism; essential viewing for those with a penchant for "Alien"-style body horror.

The new Sonologyst "sonic documentary" delves into the secretive realm of shortwave transmissions; a chronicle of clandestine shortwave transmissions culled from a span of nearly four decades (1982-2021). These mysterious transmissions - repetitive voices, signals, sound pulses, short pieces of music - were collated and edited to compose the tracks of the main album.
Immersed in an isolating fog of dark ambient, deep drone music and cinematic sound art, originating from covert radio stations engaged in military and espionage endeavours, the tracks unveil a hidden sonic landscape of strategic communication.
The second disc, in its extensive presentation, provides a deeper immersion into these enigmatic broadcasts. Each recording remains unaltered, accompanied only by a ghostly drone. An unfiltered glimpse into the world of clandestine communication.

The latest chapter in The Telescopes' idiosyncratic exploration of sound combines hallucinatory ballads with transcendent melodies, clanging, and lo-fi buzzes, with a substantial amount of crushing and sound degradation. The result is an album radiating a dark and abrasive, yet ethereal energy.
Created entirely independently by Stephen Lawrie in a remote cottage in West Yorkshire January-May 2022, the record was made with broken toys and cheap synths - mostly Pocket Operators and miniature synths, with no guitars. The complexity of sound rests within the simplicity of the composition and musical arrangements.

Furious squalls and delicate sine-warps post this one on the more psychedelic end of Akita's output. Truly relentless, it is still hard to believe he created "Untitled Knife I" on a casual Saturday afternoon. Be careful with that volume...

Violent and cold analogue electronic sounds from Atrax Morgue. Anxious and psychotic; a sinister, synthesizer-based jarring project, rich with pulsating tones and throbbing static beats. His severely distorted electronic voice reverberates through the foreground like the spoken word performance of a homicidal maniac while the music beneath affords a suitable and macabre adieu for your deceased soul. This is the sonic equivalent of regulating the blood flow through a severed jugular, the life slowly draining, the hands kept warm and strictly in the process. The fourteen splinters of "Esthetik Of A Corpse" were recorded in spring 1995 and released on tape by the late Marco Corbelli's own Slaughter Productions label. "Mountains of Night", is the third solo album by David Fenech after "Grand Huit" (2000) and "Polochon Battle" (2007). Between musique concrete and pop, between sound poetry and industrial music, this new recording was designed as a piece that gets richer over time and provides a complete listening experience. It lasts 40 minutes and is divided into two movements, which form two well-balanced sides on one LP.  FABIO ORSI - 'Waltzing The Dune' CD (Backwards) - £11.50
Another true gem of electronic ambient music from Fabio Orsi! Recorded in the lockdown period, for this release Fabio played two mono synths, sequencers and effects. Similar to recent releases, this album of five lengthy, enveloping tracks also maintains the electronic atmospheres to which the monophonic synths give warmth to the infinite melodic sequences. "Impressionistic sound paintings, more earthly than cosmic, warmly waving, sometimes cautiously rhythmically pulsating, densely interwoven, now and then voluminously effervescent, floating in the air, meandering repetitively, flowing idyllic and colourful... A warm August evening in Salento by the sea, when the sky slowly turns red and the waves calm down, sounds like this, even though the album was apparently recorded in October. Adepts of impressionistic-progressive electronics should grab it if they still want to have a real recording on their shelf" (BabyBlaue). Melancholic and aggressive atmospheres from Italian post-rock / cold wave / ethereal act Frank Never Dies. A melodic dialogue within analogue vintage synths and inspired by the sound of 70's guitar, developing in a succession of different rhythmic patterns, creating a cinematic landscape. The name of the band is inspired by the American cinematic tradition of killing off the stereotypical non-protagonists in films - if he was called Frank, 90% of the time he would die. Hollywood Dream Trip is the collaborative ambient-drone project of Christoph Heemann (HNAS, Mimir, Mirror) and Will Long (Celer). "There's a plentiful supply of heavy lidded sonics on this new missive from Hollywood Dream Trip to sink your teeth into. Sumptuous sounds from two masters" (Oren Ambarchi). Originally released in a tiny edition of 50 CDRs (2013, Dom Bartwuchs), this hard-to-find recording now rightly gets a CD-proper reissue. "Tightly bound by a slow and minimal throb, the atmospherics, gentle tones and penumbral haze that merge together here make for an inviting composition perfect for both eradicating late winter evening chills and convincing one that music of an ambient disposition can still have plenty of life in it...superb" (Adverse Effect)". Kranivm is a haunting music project born in 1993 from the depths of Marco Corbelli's (Atrax Morgue) tormented imagination. This complete collection is a resurrection of Kranivm's harrowing odyssey, featuring his sole three iconic cassette tapes: "Insanatorivm", "The Brighter Edge Of Death", and "I - The Blood", recorded 1993-94 and originally released on Slaughter Productions. Corbelli drew inspiration from a diverse tapestry that spans the eerie ambience of Cold Meat Industry's early releases, the unsettling surrealism of Gothic literature, ritualistic mysticism, until to the cinematic visions of directors Ken Russell and Amando De Ossorio Through dissonant soundscapes, Corbelli intricately wove together influences that evoked discomfort, morbid fascination, introspection, and a mesmerising sense of dread.
Employing innovative techniques and meticulous aural manipulations, Kranivm unfurls an atmosphere teeming with unease.  KRVNA - 'The Rhythmus Of Death Eternal' MCD (Zazen Sounds) - £12
From their vampyric unbirth in early 2021, Krvna have quickly ascended the Black Metal underground with effortless aplomb. Hailing from Australia, Krvna mainman Vatra's vision pursues a path authentically ancient and yet unblinkered by the past. "The Rhythmus Of Death Eternal" offers three brand-new tracks, each epic at seven minutes apiece. Long-awaited reissue of an extremely limited 3LP set from 2016 (just 17 copies!). "Absurdum" began as a series of writings by Italian Industrial / Noise legend Maurizio BIanchi entitled "Dissections". These 16 texts are now featured inside the poster cover that includes the CD of the entire work. Six lengthy works of various approaches such as noise, cold and heavy continuous sound emissions, digital noise with strange intonations that rolls around. This album was previously released in 2023 as an 'Art Edition' which came with a fake 7". This 2024 edition is limited to 111 copies in a 6" package containing the CD in poster cover (A3 size).

A compilation of the finest compositions from the first Of The Wand And The Moon albums, recorded between 1999-2003: "Nighttime Nightrhymes" (1999), ":Emptiness:Emptiness:Emptiness:" (2001), "Lucifer" (2003), plus a few tracks from the "Midnight Will" EP (2000), and "Sonnenheim" (2005). The title "Vargqld" means "Wolf-Time" in Icelandic / Old Norse. One of the brightest stars of the Neofolk scene, Of The Wand And The Moon is the brainchild of Denmark's Kim Larsen, playing melancholic, acoustic dark folk music with thematic influences spanning runelore, Aleister Crowley, Norse mythology, esoterica, and paganism.  PESONEN (KARJALAN SISSIT) - 'Mielisairaalaan Hakivat - Ällöttävä Sika Perkele' CD (Old Captain) - £12
A CD reissue of the debut solo album by Markus Pesonen - the mastermind behind Finnish noisy orchestral bombast project Karjalan Sissit. The album title in English means "Applied for a Mental Hospital" and it perfectly describes the edgy state of an institutionalised sociopath whose blackout is channelled through deranged, powerful industrial undertones, punk angst and metal noise juggernaut. A true post-industrial anthem of self-destruction. Originally released via Erebus Odora (the label of Arcana / Sophia) in 2005. Ltd x 100 copies in a matt-laminate digipak.

 RAISON D'ÊTRE - 'Après Nous Le Déluge' LP (Urashima) - £25
Dive into the enigmatic world of Raison D'Être, the mesmerizing Dark Ambient / Industrial project masterminded by Swedish composer and sound artist, Peter Andersson. The dark, atmospheric and energetic mix of choirs, strings, various FX-sounds, heavy drums, and tribal sections is the trademark Raison D'Être sound that began with the album "Prospectus I" in 1993. Released in 1992 (first as a private demo tape), "Après Nous Le Déluge" was the first official output from Raison D'Être when it released on the Cold Meat Industry sublabel Sound Source, and has a more industrial / EBM edge. The album's title translates to "After us, the deluge", a phrase often attributed to Madame de Pompadour, suggesting an impending catastrophe. This sentiment echoes throughout the album, as it conjures sonic landscapes that are both foreboding and introspective. From somber tones to the ethereal drone, the lush textures and intricate layers that characterize Raison D'Être's signature style are beautifully preserved in this reissue. In an era of disposable music, "Après Nous Le Déluge" stands as a testament to the enduring power of artistic expression. This reissue captures the essence of the original 11-track work while adding a touch of modern refinement, making it a must-have for both dedicated fans and those new to the world of Raison D'Être.  RUNES ORDER & REGEN GRAVES - 'Falsche Fragen' CD (Bloodrock Records) - £11
A collaboration between veteran Italian dark ambient act Runes Order, and Regen Graves. "Falsche Fragen" offers eleven disturbing tracks of doom-laden dark ambient and synth-heavy horror electronics and experimental electronics. The album also features some important names of the Italian scene as special guests, including: Alice Kundalini (She Spread Sorrow), Laura Agerli (The Ghost Effect, Wuornos Aileen), and Roberto Drago (R.D., The Tapes). Cult artist Runes Order was started in 1988 as Order 1968 by Claudio Dondo. Early compositions were inspired by ritualistic and industrial atmospheres and were composed using synthesizers, pre-recorded tapes and self-made metallic percussion instruments. In 1992, with the tape "The Dream Door", the project changed name to Runes Order, taking a cue from the Indo-European magical symbols. Regen Graves has established himself with several quality albums. He is also the guitarist of cult Italian Funeral Doom band Abysmal Grief, and founder of esoteric Doom Metal band Tony Tears. 6-panel digisleeve.

 SAVERIO ROSI & TEZ - 'Rote Um Format' CD (Backwards) - £11.50
A fortunate and successful meeting "between the romantic and the analytical, the sentimental and the Pragmatic". This double soul lives inside the ambient-electronics contained in "Rote Um", the debut album by the artistic partnership between TeZ (Maurizio Martinucci, member of Clock DVA since 2010) and Saverio Rosi (aka Leastupperbound and member of the band Open To The Sea with Enrico Coniglio and Matteo UIggeri).  LALLI & STEFANO RISSO - 'Qui' CD + Booklet (Silentes / Stella*Nera) - £12
Lalli was the female singer in Franti, an open collective based in Turin that shared Italian audiences with anarcho punk bands in the 80's. They were often compared to Crass for their intriguing lyrics and radical public statements. The group self-produced four beautiful albums but kept them out of commercial distribution into record stores: they were available only by mail and at their rare gigs. The group disbanded in 1987 but the members continued to collaborate in various formations. Lalli began a solo career in 1998, with well-received albums including "Un Tempo, Ancora" (Blackcat Records) on limited vinyl with bass player Stefano Risso - soon followed by a CD edition (Silentes and stella*nera) in 2017. This new album by the duo entitled "Qui" ('Here') features Stefano Risso's brilliant arrangements, transform his double bass into an orchestra, while a great part of the lyrics is spoken in a low voice or whispered by Lalli. Spanning the course of two years to create, legendary Italian noise composer Maurizio Bianchi and artist Ryan Martin (York Factory Complaint / Copley Medal / Dais Records) took on the pilgrimage of scoring the abstract concept of marriage based on the biblical Song of Solomon. Employing prepared electronics with accompanying strings and tape, this ambient religious collaboration seeks to flesh out the union, to understand the universal desire to be one. Constricted lullabies walk down the aisle to create a consortium of moving, ghost-like consolidation. Mixed and edited by Anthony Mangicapra (Hoor-paar-Kraat) and mastered by Kris Lapke (Alberich / Hospital Productions). Recorded in both New York City and Opera, Italy between 2010 and 2012, this release was originally released in 2013 as a limited double cassette on Martin's own Robert & Leopold imprint in an edition of 100 copies, which quickly went out of print. Occupying a halfway point between Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire without ever quite sounding like either, We Be Echo is Kevin Thorne. "Facets" is a multi-decade collection of songs from W.B.E - encompassing their earliest recordings from 1981 to their latest in 2023. Included is their first vinyl release, "Alleycat", originally found on The Elephant Table Album issued in 1983. It also includes their song from Cause For Concern's EP "Stuff The Neighbours, Play It Loud!". Other sought after songs include two versions of 'The Witches Burn', and an unreleased single, 'Shake Shake Go!' (also released on Frux's "Let The Pigeons In" album). The second and third CD in this set are new songs that didn't fit onto the album being recorded at the time - they range from the sombre 'As Seasons Change' to the surprisingly upbeat 'Sugar'. "Facets" is aptly named as it does, indeed, show off the many facets of We Be Echo - there is a lot of music here that will challenge and 'entertain'. Kevin Thorne's first foray into music came after a chance meeting with Throbbing Gristle on Tottenham Court Road in 1979. A few months later he met Raye Calouri at the legendary Throbbing Gristle / Cabaret Voltaire / Rema Rema gig at Central YMCA, London. Soon after, the duo formed the short-lived Third Door From The Left. After the demise of TDFTL, Thorne formed We Be Echo. "Quietude" (along with "Darckness", released on the same day), is an intense aural experience from David Jackman (Organum/Electronics). A dense work, consisting of buzzing washes of electronic sounds, reminiscent of the very first Organum recordings. In common with other recent works, the piece uses a carefully chosen set of sound sources, overlaid and structured to form a tapestry of shifting textures. "In 'Darckness', some field recordings pop up, church bells, among the dense mass of electronic sound, whereas 'Quietude' seems all electronic throughout. Both seem to have been cut from more extensive work, ending quite abruptly. The overall sound design is quite similar in both pieces, and they share a general grimness about these works, as with many of his works. Think of this as being locked up in a factory, with sounds buzzing everywhere, and reminding me of the early harshness of Organum, sans electronics: dense, minimal and dark... another excellent work" (Vital Weekly). The sixth studio album by Polish group Schröttersburg is filled with atonal, psychedelic tribal Industrial based on Noise and dark New Wave textures. The trance, the rhythm of the falling city, begins a transfer ritual to the core of the Earth - the place of creation and birth of everything. Arranged and recorded by a four-piece band with which the musicians have been performing for a long time has resulted in a new, slightly different sound than before. "Kosmogonia" is the heaviest material in the output of Schröttersburg, along with a natural change resulting from constant musical exploration, begun where the last sounds of "Om Shanti Om" left off, dispersing into new, previously unexplored directions. All that said, the new and constantly changing approach hasn't erased the beloved character of the band.
