NEW COLD SPRING RELEASES 2024 |
MEAT BEAT MANIFESTO & MERZBOW - 'Extinct'
CD £9.50 | Ltd LP Red £23 | LP Black £18 - OUT 26th APRIL!

Cold Spring is proud to present a unique collaboration between Industrial Breakbeat pioneers MEAT BEAT MANIFESTO (Jack Dangers) and the undisputed king of Japanese noise, MERZBOW (Masami Akita).
"We may not speak the same language, but in the vortex of sound, there's a raw, primal understanding that transcends words. Noise can be art, a visual representation could maybe be Jackson Pollock's No 5, a plexus of chaos redefining what music can and could be. Pushing boundaries with Masami wasn't just a musical adventure, it was a masterclass in sonic anarchy" (Jack Dangers, January 2024).
"Extinct" sees the duo take listeners on a transcendental journey, focusing on the dismantling of beat and structure and recycling the result through layers of beautifully crafted noise and feedback loops, giving birth to new rhythms buried deep in the dirt.
The 20 minute opener '!FLAKKA¡' takes constantly evolving breakbeats which are gradually broken down over time, driven through a filter of harsh noise, destroying the old to give birth to the new. Raw and unforgiving, the track is a behemoth that blends mutant forms of broken beats and hints of dub, creating rhythmic noise of the highest calibre in the process.
'Burner' takes the record to its ultimate conclusion, the initial drum beat broken down so that it is barely recognisable. Pulsating distortion and high end audio fragments bleed into each other as the track lumbers forth and destroys everything in its path before slowly unravelling, degrading and falling apart.
A harrowing yet somewhat cathartic trip through walls of harsh industrial noise and audio degradation, "Extinct" is a masterful pairing of artists who have delivered something truly unique yet totally relevant. Don't sleep on this one! (Todd Robinson / Subunit)
Composed, recorded and produced November 2023 - January 2024 by Jack Dangers and Masami Akita. Art by Abby Helasdottir (Gydja).

CORRUPTED - 'Felicific Algorithm / Mushikeras'
CD £11 | T-Shirt £15 - OUT NOW!

Corrupted is a mysterious Japanese doom metal band, formed in 1994. Immensely downtuned guitar and crushingly slow bass are shrouded under deep layers of feedback. They are rightly hailed as one of the heaviest and darkest doom metal bands of all time.
This is not a simple reissue of the 2018 multi-speed, vinyl-only release "Felicific Algorithim" (Cold Spring). Though the first two tracks were created using the same field recordings / source material captured in Amagasaki, Osaka, and Fukushima, the tracks have been carefully reworked into a much darker sound. The new track titles 'Felicific Algiorithm' and 'Felicific Aligorithm' reflect this; like a mind virus appearing the same at first glance.
The 27-minute track 'Mushikeras' was recorded 2022-23 as a four-piece line-up of Kaz Mike (howling guitar and bass), Rie Lambdoll (vocal and bass), Mark Y. (guitar and bass), and Chew (drum and high carbon steel). A self-released digital-only track in autumn '23, this is the first physical manifestation of this doom metal behemoth, full of loud sludge, funeral dirge, haunting whispers / howling harsh vocals, and atmospheric build-ups.
6-panel flood-printed digipak with striking photography by Rie Lambdoll, Mark Y, Chew, and collage by Hyng Hoian.
Also accompanying this release is a new Corrupted 'Felicific Algorithm' black t-shirt with white print.

LULL - 'Journey Through Underworlds'
CD £11 - OUT NOW!

The classic, genre-defining 1993 album from LULL - the pioneering, isolationist dark ambient project of MICK HARRIS of SCORN, FRET, ex-NAPALM DEATH - is a dark journey through the Stygian netherworlds of Hell.
The listener is left with the impression of a final escape into reality; a return upon waking, with only wispy trace memories and the heavy rush of blood-pumping fear as a keepsake.
With this album, we are plunged back into a dark pit of noise - all escape barred, all hope dashed. The nightmare continues, the journey through underworlds descends deeper. These are soundtracks for Nightmares. Despite there being just three tracks on the album, it lasts just shy of 75 minutes.
Originally released on Sentrax (the label of the late John Everall / Tactile), the CD suffered the 'disc rot' fate of many PDO pressings from 1988-1993, rendering most of that initial run unplayable.
Mixed by Justin K Broadrick (GODFLESH). Remastered by Martin Bowes (The Cage Studios) from the original recordings supplied by Mick Harris.
Matt digipak with majestic artwork by Abby Helasdottir (Gydja). |
OLEG KARPACHEV - 'Sputnik' (Dir: Egor Abramenko) O.S.T.
CD £11 - OUT NOW!

Released for the first time on any format, we proudly present the soundtrack to the 2020 sci-fi horror film 'Sputnik' (directed by Egor Abramenko).
The bleak and hauntingly atmospheric film is accompanied by an impressively heavy soundtrack from Oleg Karpachev, who uses bombastic percussion, stirring strings, and otherworldly synths to convey the horror unfolding on screen.
Set during Cold War Soviet Russia, the ominous film starring Oksana Akinshina (Bourne Supremacy), Fedor Bondarchuk, and Pyotr Fyodorov Jr follows the story of a cosmonaut returning from space with a mysterious extraterrestrial organism; essential viewing for those with a penchant for "Alien"-style body horror.
Immense orchestral dissonance with an industrial edge. File next to Steven Price, Hans Zimmer, Ben Frost, In Slaughter Natives...
Matt-finish, flood-printed digipak. |

The new Sonologyst "sonic documentary" delves into the secretive realm of shortwave transmissions; a chronicle of clandestine shortwave transmissions culled from a span of nearly four decades (1982-2021). These mysterious transmissions - repetitive voices, signals, sound pulses, short pieces of music - were collated and edited to compose the tracks of the main album.
Immersed in an isolating fog of dark ambient, deep drone music and cinematic sound art, originating from covert radio stations engaged in military and espionage endeavours, the tracks unveil a hidden sonic landscape of strategic communication.
The second disc, in its extensive presentation, provides a deeper immersion into these enigmatic broadcasts. Each recording remains unaltered, accompanied only by a ghostly drone. An unfiltered glimpse into the world of clandestine communication.
Double CD in a matt-finish gatefold ecopak with graphic design by Abby Helasdottir.

The latest chapter in The Telescopes' idiosyncratic exploration of sound combines hallucinatory ballads with transcendent melodies, clanging, and lo-fi buzzes, with a substantial amount of crushing and sound degradation. The result is an album radiating a dark and abrasive, yet ethereal energy.
Created entirely independently by Stephen Lawrie in a remote cottage in West Yorkshire January-May 2022, the record was made with broken toys and cheap synths - mostly Pocket Operators and miniature synths, with no guitars. The complexity of sound rests within the simplicity of the composition and musical arrangements.
Features bonus remixes by Black Market Karma and Mosaic Runes.
CD in a matt digipak with art by Stephen Lawrie.

A documentation of prolific Japanese noise master Merzbow's double show at London's Cafe OTO, 2016.
Rhythm-driven and rammed with highly sculpted frequencies, Akita's sound is entirely remorseless.
Furious squalls and delicate sine-warps post this one on the more psychedelic end of Akita's output. Truly relentless, it is still hard to believe he created "Untitled Knife I" on a casual Saturday afternoon. Be careful with that volume...
"The concert was very much about the physical impact of the sound. At several points during the set I could feel the fabric of my jeans and jacket vibrating from the extreme frequencies played at excessive volume... an intense and constant sonic attack" (Irregular Notes On Music).
Double CD in a matt-finish gatefold ecopak with photography by Masami Akita.

ABRAXXUM - 'The Steel Jaws of Choronzom' CD (Cyclopean Eye Productions) - £12
Conjuring forth from the mind of DIOCLETIAN's noise monarch Atrociter, a new project has been summoned from the void named ABRAXXUM. Hailing from New Zealand, Abraxxum plays occult Power Electronics and ritual darkness with all sonic alchemy and analogue abuse, created using modular synthesis and live instrumentation only! The opening salvo aimed at the Global human parasites. Indian import. Ltd x 100 copies. |
BELL - 'Enigma Calling' CD (Cyclopean Eye Productions) - £12
New CD edition of the very limited (100 copies) 2023 LP. Nearly 4 years after its groundbreaking debut full length "Secrets From A Distant Star", the mysterious Power Electronics entity Bell returns with a new mini-CD aptly titled "Enigma Calling". Weighing in heavily on its early Berlin electronics influences, Bell's current material dwells on the ruins and embers of post WWII Germany, the Enigma Machine, missile technology and the emergence of bizarre religious cults. Rhythmic, pulsating, trance inducing, "Enigma Calling" builds layer upon layer of humming distortion, arpeggiators and sequencers with subdued percussion in a manner that only Bell can. This is a tribute to early 1970's electronica inspired by a dark end of an era. FFO: Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, Klaus Schulze. Indian import. |
COMMANDO 15 - 'Inner Insurgency Manual' CD (Freak Animal) - £11.50
After tapes on Freak Animal and Satatuhatta, Commando 15 returns with an even more fierce and merciless feedback industrial noise release for its official debut. It's a very rare treat to discover contemporary artists who manage to capture the spirit of the noisiest early 80's power electronics and minimalistic industrial rhythms, while also maintaining the feel of current "broken noise". A fantastic debut album made with scrap metal, electronics, and tape recorders, which should be checked out by anyone who has wants noise or power electronics that is not "nice" and "full", but damaging, challenging and painful. 6 panel digisleeve. |
CORRAL SHUT / RESIDUAL / TYHJÄ PÄÄ / HAUDAT - 'Split' CD (Satatuhatta) - £11.50
Four current Finnish noise artists cooking up a split with outstanding harsh noise, on a release that stands on its own two feet. If you've been following what's happening in the scene, you should already know that these artists can definitely deliver. On top of everything, on this split they've found a common thread to make this release feel like a proper album - a rarely achieved feat with splits or compilations. Enjoy the powerful sound of Finnish noise! Mastered by Pentti Dassum (Umpio, Impakt). Digipak. |
COV OPS - 'The Way Forward' CD (Freak Animal) - £11.50
Following up on their hugely well-received debut album "New Agenda" (Freak Animal, 2023), Cov Ops present yet again an oppressive way forward for humanity. The successful blend of harsh noise and classic industrial has been further refined and pushed to extremes into a massive wall of crushing frequencies, but ever changing and never standing still. Cov Ops rejects innovation, playfulness and technological advancement. It trusts on the sheer violent energy and basic elements of industrial-noise. Its harshness brings it to the realm of noise, yet it clearly belongs to lineage of industrial culture. Digipak. |
CYESS AFXZS & SCATHING - 'Sunken Dimension' CD (Satatuhatta) - £11.50
Cyess Afxzs and Scathing both represent the newer wave of harsh noise, with prolific output in recent years, coming up with top notch releases one after another, and it was only a matter of time for this fruitful collaboration to happen. These artists have a musical ear for harsh noise; we've been hearing it in their works with compositional, cinematic qualities. Perhaps because they live on different continents (hailing from Rome and Texas respectively), the idea of them actually working together seemed unlikely, but this is a match made in heaven. A full-on collaboration, stamped with the individual hand-print of both artists, yet they have still created something new together. Digipak. |
FALLEN SUN - 'Beyond The Flat Earth' CD (Fourth Dimension) - £11.50
Debut album from Fallen Sun, the noise/industrial moniker of Reverse Image from Malaysia, who approaches the creation of noise music through the layering of sonic textures aligned with a sense of space and movement. Using HNW as distant inspiration, she takes the seed of an idea and expands and contracts it, before further compressing and then twisting it, layer upon layer, until the idea has morphed into itself. The tracks explore this perpetual movement of noise, each with its own spine, the total auditory fabric of the music presents a gothic beauty to submerse oneself. The sounds deployed are often frazzled, abstract, complex and restless, akin to a full-on blazing attack that displays just enough restraint and occasional rhythmic prowess to avoid reaching a Merzbow-type meltdown. A great exploration of the nuanced power of intensity in several forms, focusing more on sonic arrangements than anything overtly primal. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak. |
H.Ö.H. - 'Superorganism' CD (Freak Animal) - £12
Originally released on LP only (2020, Freak Animal), now presented on CD for the first time. This Finnish obscurity has reached niche cult status with his tape releases. Utterly primitive, totally analogue noise experiments, which have been mostly self-released. There is also a sought after 2017 CD anthology consisting of some the early tapes, now long sold out. Tape loops, broken primitive electronics, tape hiss and crackling distortion, with really tasty noise. H.Ö.H.'s material could be compared with very earliest Consumer Electronics or radio noise recordings of John Duncan, but with further handmade primitivism and utmost broken and unprocessed radio-signals. An assault of truly disturbing and difficult noise rawness! Jewelcase with artwork based on the LP. |
IMPAKT - 'Burnout' CD (Satatuhatta) - £11.50
Impakt is a regressive combination of high speed freestyle junk noise and electronics overload. No effort has been spared to deliver a fast moving freight train of bricks and porcupines crunching through your walls and / or eardrums. When the velocity is too high the G-force will take care of the rest. Bones will snap like potato chips at a marathon of George A. Romero movies. "Burnout" is the first album of this collaboration between Finnish lardmongers MT (Unclean, Stinkfinger) and PD (Kartio, Umpio). Circuit Overload, Fractured Metals, Ear Exploding Serenity And Pure Energy. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve. |
INADE - 'Antimimon Pneumatos' CD (Loki Foundation) - £11.50
Originally released in 2011 as limited edition boxset with t-shirt (Ltd 300) from Germany's Dark Ambient masters Inade, "Antimimon Pneumatos" collects some of the most powerful moments in their live performance history. Well-known tracks in expanded live versions and unreleased material were recorded on multi-track and mastered by Andreas Wahnmann at Secretlab to match the extraordinary standards of the studio recordings. The material for "Antimimon Pneumatos" was recorded during 2009-2010 in Paris, Moscow, Wuppertal, Turku and Leipzig. Presented for the first time in a 'regular' edition, in a 6-panel digisleeve with rejuvenated artwork. Highly recommended! |
INADE - 'The Crackling Of The Anonymous' CD (Loki Foundation) - £11.50
Reissue of Inade's second album from 2001, revived 23 years later. With "The Crackling Of The Anonymous", Inade move beyond all preconceived notions of sonic creativity. The plethora of puzzle pieces that interconnect in the expanding universe that Inade unwaveringly explores have grown amorphous, no longer defined by distinct outlines, melding as one whole, obscure entity. The expansion comes in many levels, incorporating the vast parameters of time, dimension and reality as viable participants in Inade’s aural objective: to shine a light on the enigmatic unknown and give it a vague silhouette. The dark and hallucinatory masterwork that is "The Crackling Of The Anonymous", is constructed via the never heard utterances of the void, while tapping into the psyche of the impossible. A stunning release that defies all logic because it creates its own. 6-panel digisleeve with rejuvenated artwork. |
KARMIC DELUSIONS - 'Ordinary Confused Human' CD (Freak Animal) - £11.50
Debut album from Finnish Industrial-Noise act Karmic Delusions. At the moment, the current wave of new material coming out of Finland is largely associated with harsh noise, but there are also other sounds being created. Karmic Delusions offers industrial noise that could be lumped together with Finnish bands such as Cloama and Eleczema, yet the tracks also heavily lean towards harsh noise. Traditional oscillations, fierce electronic drones and physical noise is combined with innovative sounds and slightly unusual combinations. 6-panel digisleeve. |
KONFLICT - 'Subjugation I & II' CD (Cyclopean Eye Productions) - £12
Culmination of a collaboration between two of the most visceral forces in today's extreme black metal / grind music scene. Featuring Sri Lankan cyber grind noise terrorists Konflict and the legendary Canadian Ryan 'Deathlord' Förster (Conqueror / Deathworship / Blasphemy) on guitars and bass. Konflict are a Sri Lankan trio of War Metal & Death Industrial musicians. known for their iconic drum machine and distorted vocals. Lyrical themes revolve around the continual degeneracy of their homeland. This is a reissue of two very limited 12" vinyl editions, originally released on New Era Productions (2022). Indian import. |
PAIN APPENDIX - 'Manuhypnoz' CD (Freak Animal) - £11.50
Miasmic industrial noise music, racked with spiritual anxiety, ritual machinations, psychosonik fall-out, and full force existential vacuum. This is the new full-length CD album from American Industrial / Harsh noise artist Pain Appendix, who has gained growing attention with a ton of great tape releases (Nil By Mouth, Tribe Tapes, Satatuhatta, and Bizarre Audio Arts to name but a few) over the last eight years. A masterful composition of metal-junk screech, clang, heavy distortion and rhythm. |
ROTAT - 'Persisting Calamity' CD (Freak Animal) - £11.50
Finnish harsh noise artist Rotat returns to Freak Animal with a brand new studio album after multiple great CDs released on international labels such as Rural Isolation, OFR, and Dunkelheit Prods. An album's worth of straight forward harsh noise, very much for fans of their previous FA release, "Grease District". Rotat started off in 2015 doing obscure hand assembled tapes. His early works were influenced by names like Taint and Smell & Quim, mixing utmost vile perversion with demented humour. Recent works have seen Rotat evolve with well-crafted razor-sharp harsh noise, walls of filth and ripping feedback, and blocks of brutish sound. Comes in a 6-panel digisleeve. |
SPECIAL INTERESTS 16 Magazine (Freak Animal) - £9
The 16th issue of this essential magazine focusing on the international industrial-noise scene. Features interviews with: Chuck Collison (Premature Ejaculation), Testing Vault, North Central, Artur R. Sztukalski (alias Ars Sonitus), Commando 15, and Ominous Recordings label, a multi-interview piece on "Noise Collages" art with Amek-Maj, Aprapat, OMM and Government Alpha, plus discussions / essays on Noise, Futurism and recycling tapes. An essential deep read, and an antithesis to the flash-in-the-pan of social media: something to be "remembered, re-found and cultivated" years down the line. A4, 60 pages. All zines. |
THE NEW BOYFRIENDS - 'Universal Noise' CD (Satatuhatta) - £12.50
On their fifth album, Finnish harsh noisers The New Boyfriends explore the universal phenomenon of sound. Everything started with a big bang, which still echoes and vibrates through eternity, creating the most crucial thing in existence called Noise. "Universal Noise" guides the listener through the electroacoustic ages of this planet called Earth. It was recorded in various locations, from rural countryside to the deepest forests and freshest streams. This sonic journey varies from huge macrocosmic rumbles to microcosmic hisses and scrapings, and everything in between. Majestic thunderstorms are followed by the sounds of rot and decay. Moments of clarity and beauty build up to cataclysmic industrial metal storms. "Universal Noise" might be the most challenging yet rewarding album by The New Boyfriends so far, but hope you enjoy the ride as much as they did. The New Boyfriends is a collaboration of 'very harsh noise' between two well respected Finnish artists: Mogao and Aprapat. A5 digipak with 16-page booklet. |
VIOLENT SHOGUN - 'Peace' CD (Satatuhatta) - £11.50
"Peace" is the latest CD album by Rémi Dazet, the mastermind behind Violent Shogun and other noisy experimental projects like Hattifnattar and Mold. Those projects stand on their own feet but Violent Shogun can be seen as his main project, and it's always exciting to see in which direction the sound progresses to next. This timely named album once again showcases what Rémi does best. It combines atmospheric synth sounds and textured tape loops with harsher, organic bangs and scrapes to tell a story. No gimmicks, just true artistic vision using the tools of sound. Mastered by Pentti Dassum (Umpio). |
YKSI - 'Ultrasensory Exploration' CD (Freak Animal) - £11.50
After a handful of tapes on labels such as Narcolepsia, Satatuhatta, and Magma Tones, Finnish psychedelic harsh noise unit Yksi return with their debut full length album. At almost 74 minutes, the album doesn't offer lame copycat material, but does have echoes of the masters of psychedelic noise soundscapes such as C.C.C.C. or Nord. Masterful craftmanship of multiple layers of swirling harshness makes it clear how Yksi is certainly among the very best in this approach to noise! Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve with artwork by the Kryptinen Käki. |

BAD SECTOR - 'Chronoland' CD (Power & Steel / Loki Foundation) - £11.50
The soundscape for a mind movie and another masterpiece that picks up where Bad Sector's previous work "CMASA" left off. 12 beautifully crafted chapters of music segueing between morphing layers of thick drones, haunting melodies and crackling vocal transmissions. "Chronoland" unfolds a fascinating and cinematic atmosphere of frightening ambient melodica with dark soundwaves deeply embedded in the music and bursts of electro-acoustic effects. This release is another step forward into the sound cosmos of Massimo Magrini with new directions but always in the unique way of Bad Sector. Comes in a 6-panel outsize digisleeve. |
EX.ORDER - 'The Place Of Dead Roads' CD (Power & Steel / Loki Foundation) - £11.50
Ex.Order is the Power Electronics alter-ego of René Lehmann and Knut Enderlein (INADE). Gathering rare compilation tracks and 2 previously unreleased tracks from the late 90's to 2010, "The Place Of Dead Roads" is another heavy slab of complex and explosive noise electronics, analogue sound waves and pulsating rhythms with massive sample and vocal collages. Even though the tracks were recorded across a decade, they come together as a single coherent entity due to their constant claustrophobic and oppressive nature. |
INADE - 'Aldebaran Revisited 2016' CD (Loki Foundation) - £11.50
This release is based on the Aldebaran 20th anniversary concert in Paris (9th September 2016). Recorded during the Autumn Equinox 2016, using the backing tapes of this event, this is a beautiful deep space soundtrack transferring the original theme into a live recording environment. The blackened Dark Ambient masterpiece "Aldebaran" was originally released on Cold Spring (CSR13CD) in 1996 and was Inade's debut album. This is a fresh adaptation of one of the greatest Dark Ambient albums of all time! 6-panel digisleeve. |
IONOSPHERE - 'Nightscape' CD (Power & Steel / Loki Foundation) - £11.50
Ionosphere returns with its third full length album, "Nightscape". It follows the path of previous works focusing on deep, shivering, cosmic sound waves and moves further with the inclusion of an emotional core. Expansive drones, drifting melodic soundscapes, ominous sonic undertones and vocal transmissions intersect with densely concentrated rhythmic pulsations that emphasize the sculptural nature and deep atmospheric scope of the 11 tracks. "Nightscape" is a soundtrack that transports the listener on an epic journey far away into spaces and environments where lights and noises move and circulate slowly while the night embraces everything. 6-panel digisleeve. |
PRIMITIVE WINGS - 'Morphosis' CD (Satatuhatta) - £11.50
The debut album of Primitive Wings, a new project by Jaakko Vanhala (also of Secret Apex, Zoät-Aon, I.Corax). "Morphosis" is a highly evocative noise album, bringing into mind vivid flashes of something primal, perhaps from the prehistoric past. At the same time it's very raw, but without being utterly harsh. Listening to the album, you can imagine insects digging their way through the forest floor, dragonflies propelling amongst the ferns in the twilight, reptiles roaming in the verdant undergrowth, and prehistoric roars rising amongst the tropical trees. But it's not a nature documentary; more like an atavistic memory, an intuitive transformation taking you inside an alien consciousness. Perhaps a vision of an event which happened under the same stars but billions of years ago. Something from the beginning, of growth, sentience and flesh, finding its expression in strange transformations. Features a collaborative track with Antti Litmanen (Arktau Eos). Comes with sticker. Digipak. |
S.E.T.I. - 'The Geometry Of Night' 2 x CD (Power & Steel / Loki Foundation) - £13.50
First released in 1996, "The Geometry of Night" is the second album of Andrew Lagowski's deep space sound project, which marked a reference point to his works under the name Lagowski. A classic album with laid back percussion, finely-tuned electronics, dark atmospheric synth waves and soundscapes. The album perfectly describes themes of night sky surveys, surveillance operations and radio telescope disinformation with the advice to keep a wary eye on the dark side of human nature. This is a remedy for the lonely nights staring at your social interface, the melancholy for lost opportunities and a hope for what lies beyond the nearest nebula. This newly re-mastered edition includes the sister album "Companion", with more than 60 minutes of new material. The concept involves companions, bound together by molecular chains, enveloped in dark matter and history, swirling endlessly within infinite illuminating spirals. Their BrEAUTalitY - answerable only to the laws of universal physics and spiritual cosmology. Moving extra terrestrial sound research to its deepest core! 6-panel digisleeve. |
VARIOUS ARTISTS - '25YLoki' 2 x CD (Loki Foundation) - £11.50
A celebration of 25 years of deep audio and dark ambient. A double CD released on the occasion of Loki Foundation's 25th Anniversary concert in Paris, 2016. GIGI MASIN & ROD MODELL - 'Red Hair Girl At The Lighthouse Beach' LP 'GALAXY RED' (13/Silentes) - £32.50
Small repress on Limited Edition 'Red Galaxy Effect' vinyl of the incredibly sought-after 2023 album. Making music is trying to start over again every time. It's a matter of questioning and approaching. It's never settling for the sound that fills the world around. It's looking for a door in the sky. And maybe find it, open it, go beyond it. Rod Modell and Gigi Masin, this time together, are offering each other vibrations and insights. The former lives between two lakes, the latter between the Venetian lagoon and the sea. Everyone on their own shore, building electronic bridges in semi-darkness to allow us to cross too. This work is the meeting of two people, an exchange of different points of view. A way to meet and then break up. Rod has reworked a piece by Gigi making it his own... and so Gigi did with a piece by Rod. A magnificent intersection of sounds and thoughts... remaining suspended to watch the passing of time, to listen to the noises and silences of life that passes inexorably around us. ATRAX MORGUE - 'Esthetik Of A Corpse' LP (Urashima) - £24
Violent and cold analogue electronic sounds from Atrax Morgue. Anxious and psychotic; a sinister, synthesizer-based jarring project, rich with pulsating tones and throbbing static beats. His severely distorted electronic voice reverberates through the foreground like the spoken word performance of a homicidal maniac while the music beneath affords a suitable and macabre adieu for your deceased soul. This is the sonic equivalent of regulating the blood flow through a severed jugular, the life slowly draining, the hands kept warm and strictly in the process. The fourteen splinters of "Esthetik Of A Corpse" were recorded in spring 1995 and released on tape by the late Marco Corbelli's own Slaughter Productions label. Harsh electronics, sounds from obsessions and visions, death as sex, madness, pleasure, orgasm, cadavers, and plastic bags. As subtle and listenable as it is challenging and complex. Remastered by Andrea Marutti. Ltd x 199 copies on 140g virgin black vinyl in reverse board sleeve. |
TONE GENERATOR & THE BODY WITHOUT ORGANS - 'Control Live' CD (Ultra-Mail Prods.) - £16
This disc features Tone Generator & The Body Without Organs live at Smith's Alternative, Canberra 27/8/2022. Features an intro by Jack Sargeant. Tone Generator (here with Scott Barnes) is Dominic Guerin - a somewhat infamous key contributor to the early classic industrial / noise era of SPK (late 1970's/early 1980's), and founding of industrial group Last Dominion Lost (with the late John Murphy). "The liner notes imply that the artistic approach continues from where SPK left off, addressing the 'body without organs' concept of Gilles Deleuze and artificial intelligence and information overload in dark ramblings. The recordings bring an ongoing dark rumble of sound, staying well this side of a wall of noise but beyond audible instruments. It is well-balanced, enjoyable to hear, and very reminiscent of tapes collected in the 1980s. Voice bites, a little old screaming, and some tone-generator sounds can be heard" (Vital Weekly). Beautifully presented in a matt-laminate mini-LP sleeve with printed inner sleeve, plus

RUNES ORDER & REGEN GRAVES - 'Falsche Fragen' CD (Bloodrock Records) - £11
A collaboration between veteran Italian dark ambient act Runes Order, and Regen Graves. "Falsche Fragen" offers eleven disturbing tracks of doom-laden dark ambient and synth-heavy horror electronics and experimental electronics. The album also features some important names of the Italian scene as special guests, including: Alice Kundalini (She Spread Sorrow), Laura Agerli (The Ghost Effect, Wuornos Aileen), and Roberto Drago (R.D., The Tapes). Cult artist Runes Order was started in 1988 as Order 1968 by Claudio Dondo. Early compositions were inspired by ritualistic and industrial atmospheres and were composed using synthesizers, pre-recorded tapes and self-made metallic percussion instruments. In 1992, with the tape "The Dream Door", the project changed name to Runes Order, taking a cue from the Indo-European magical symbols. Regen Graves has established himself with several quality albums. He is also the guitarist of cult Italian Funeral Doom band Abysmal Grief, and founder of esoteric Doom Metal band Tony Tears. 6-panel digisleeve. |
HOLLYWOOD DREAM TRIP - 'Second Album' CD (Black Rose Recordings) - £12
Hollywood Dream Trip is the collaborative ambient-drone project of Christoph Heemann (HNAS, Mimir, Mirror) and Will Long (Celer). "There's a plentiful supply of heavy lidded sonics on this new missive from Hollywood Dream Trip to sink your teeth into. Sumptuous sounds from two masters" (Oren Ambarchi). Originally released in a tiny edition of 50 CDRs (2013, Dom Bartwuchs), this hard-to-find recording now rightly gets a CD-proper reissue. "Tightly bound by a slow and minimal throb, the atmospherics, gentle tones and penumbral haze that merge together here make for an inviting composition perfect for both eradicating late winter evening chills and convincing one that music of an ambient disposition can still have plenty of life in it...superb" (Adverse Effect)". Ltd x 200 copies in a digipak with front cover drawing by Christoph Heeman. |
FABIO ORSI - 'Waltzing The Dune' CD (Backwards) - £11.50
Another true gem of electronic ambient music from Fabio Orsi! Recorded in the lockdown period, for this release Fabio played two mono synths, sequencers and effects. Similar to recent releases, this album of five lengthy, enveloping tracks also maintains the electronic atmospheres to which the monophonic synths give warmth to the infinite melodic sequences. "Impressionistic sound paintings, more earthly than cosmic, warmly waving, sometimes cautiously rhythmically pulsating, densely interwoven, now and then voluminously effervescent, floating in the air, meandering repetitively, flowing idyllic and colourful... A warm August evening in Salento by the sea, when the sky slowly turns red and the waves calm down, sounds like this, even though the album was apparently recorded in October. Adepts of impressionistic-progressive electronics should grab it if they still want to have a real recording on their shelf" (BabyBlaue). Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak with artwork by Alessandra Guttagliere. |
DAVID FENECH - 'Mountains Of Night' LP (Jelodanti Records) - £22
"Mountains of Night", is the third solo album by David Fenech after "Grand Huit" (2000) and "Polochon Battle" (2007). Between musique concrete and pop, between sound poetry and industrial music, this new recording was designed as a piece that gets richer over time and provides a complete listening experience. It lasts 40 minutes and is divided into two movements, which form two well-balanced sides on one LP. Instruments: piano, electric guitar, percussion, snare drum, voice, electric bass, organ, sequencer, tape edits, field recordings, home made electronics, gamelan, sampler, flutes, shaker, bells, midi guitar, synthesizer. Mastered by James Plotkin. To discover if you like Jim O'Rourke, Mimir, H.N.A.S, Nurse with Wound Tazartès, or Faust. Ltd x 200 copies - 100 of which are this 'Almost standard edition'. The outer cover and black inner are 'stamped' by Jelodanti. Comes with a full-size insert with all 100 paintings by Muriel Rodolosse in vignettes, a smaller insert, plus a download card. |
KRVNA - 'The Rhythmus Of Death Eternal' MCD (Zazen Sounds) - £12
From their vampyric unbirth in early 2021, Krvna have quickly ascended the Black Metal underground with effortless aplomb. Hailing from Australia, Krvna mainman Vatra's vision pursues a path authentically ancient and yet unblinkered by the past. "The Rhythmus Of Death Eternal" offers three brand-new tracks, each epic at seven minutes apiece. The mini-album is fleshed out with covers of Austrian vanguard ABIGOR's track 'Astral Images Darken Reality' and Viking-era BATHORY's track 'Man Of Iron', with Krvna threading the five tracks together with sinuous ease. The new tracks bubble over with majesty and mysticism, and are recognisably black metal - surging, skyscraping, even sensual - with scalding urgency and sublime melodicism. The themes delve deeper into existentialism and the death of God, thus accomplished in a manner most poignant. Gatefold digisleeve. Already sold out from the label! |
ORGANUM ELECTRONICS - 'Darcknes' CD (Die Stadt) - £14.50
Organum Electronics is the ultra heavy Drone Noise project of British artist David Jackman. The difference from his main project, Organum, is that it literally uses electronics as a material for creating sounds. "Darcknes" is the sibling album of "Quietude". It is a similarly dense work, consisting of buzzing washes of electronic sounds, reminiscent of the very first Organum recordings. In common with other recent works, the piece uses a carefully chosen set of sound sources, overlaid and structured to form a tapestry of shifting textures.
UK-based composer and visual artist David Jackman began his career in the late 1960s in the experimental group Scratch Orchestra. He started recording solo work in the late 1970s, mostly on self-released cassettes in very small numbers. In the early 1980s he established his main project, Organum, which evolved into a new version under the name Organum Electronics in 2019. Recorded in 2021 and edited by Alan Jones at RMS Studios South London, the CD comes in a gatefold digisleeve with graphic artwork by Jonathan Coleclough. Ltd x 500 copies. |
