SONOLOGYST - 'Planetarium'
2 x CD £12 Adv - OUT 27th JUNE (£13.50 After)

An aural exploration of the solar system by Sonologyst, using data from NASA's probes.

On the latest album by Sonologyst, raw data from radio waves, electromagnetic fields, and plasma fluctuations, utilising data sonification files provided by NASA, are transformed into a haunting soundscape, unveiling the ambient music of planets, solar winds, and the cosmic beyond.

As the newest addition to Sonologyst's series of sonic documentaries, this work deepens his exploration of the sonic spectrum, converting cosmic phenomena into immersive auditory experiences.

NASA and other space agencies have captured "sounds" from the cosmos by recording non-audible signals like radio waves, electromagnetic waves, and plasma (ionized gas that's prevalent in space) wave fluctuations. These are converted into audio frequencies we can hear using a process called data sonification. Spacecraft like Voyager, Cassini, and Juno are equipped with special instruments (e.g., plasma wave antennas, magnetometers, radio wave receivers) to detect radio waves, plasma waves, and electromagnetic fields.

These signals can provide data on phenomena like solar wind, planetary magnetospheres, and charged particles. Since many of these signals are outside our hearing range (radio waves might have frequencies far below the audible range (20 Hz to 20 kHz) or far above it, while magnetic and plasma waves are often in the range of milliHertz (mHz) to kilohertz (kHz), also outside human hearing.), they are converted using various techniques, including frequency scaling, sampling, filtering, and amplitude modulation. Some events, like plasma wave bursts, happen over long periods. Scientists may speed up the playback so we can hear the changes in a shorter time frame.

After conversion, the resulting sounds are often enhanced to make certain patterns, pitches, or changes in intensity more noticeable. This may involve amplifying certain frequencies or adding layers to represent multi-dimensional data. This processing helps bring out subtle differences that might otherwise be hard to discern.

Double CD in a matt-finish gatefold ecopak, with a bonus disc of the raw source material from NASA's probes.

The complete recordings of the legendary Marc And The Mambas run of three live performances given at The Duke Of York's Theatre in London's West End in 1983. Restored from the original VHS tape recordings made by the late Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson (Throbbing Gristle, Coil), these remain the only recordings that exist of Marc And The Mambas performing live.

Originally released in 2012 on Marc Almond's (Soft Cell) own Strike Force Entertainment label as a CD/DVD set (long sold out), this edition, presented on vinyl for the first time, contains the 17 tracks from the SFE CD release, expanded to include the two bonus DVD-only tracks: 'Près Des Ramparts De Séville' and 'Jacky'. Completely remastered for vinyl by Martin Bowes (The Cage Studios).

A combination of the chanson and torch songs which he still sings today, over piano, strings and woodwind-accompanied compositions. "It's quite a spectacle, especially when Almond hits his sweet spot of sinister lyrics, declared pompously over a droned string arrangement... Early signs of the full-on showtune and classical rearrangements that make up Almond's current albums are evident"(Record Collector).

Presented on heavyweight double vinyl in a deluxe glossy gatefold sleeve featuring the extensive reminiscence by Marc Almond himself from the 2012 release.

Also included is a reproduction of the 16-page programme printed for the three concerts in 1983. The stunning cover painting by Val Denham is exclusive to this release.

ANDREW OSTLER - 'The Blind Sublime'
CD £11.50 - OUT NOW!

   Bandcamp  Soundcloud

Andrew Ostler continues his artistic evolution towards choral beauty, orchestral textures, ambient drones and low woodwind, into the realms of Jóhann Jóhannsson, Arvo Pärt or Stars Of The Lid.

Building on the string arrangements of his previous LP "Dots On A Disk Of Snow", and taking a heavy dose of sax drone from an earlier album still, this record also adds a full choir, taking the music to another level of spiritual intensity.

"This is music of transcendence, and perhaps transformation... A glimpse of something profound: not merely music, but a reflection of the sublime itself - blind, unknowable, and utterly captivating" (Chain D.L.K.).

On the first three compositions the drones are, for the most part, relatively gentle, while chant-like choral arrangements drift and weave around and above them. 'Affirmation' is quietly confident, with a surge of intensity around the midpoint; 'Confession' is perhaps more tentative, the shifting canon of the voices threatened by a distant storm of distorted synth shredding; 'Adoration' restores the straightforward choral beauty, building to an unashamed cadence.

The immense final track 'Meditation' is a quite different affair. Here the drones are more intense slabs, the choir is more demonstrative in its emotion, and the ultimate climax the more devastating for it. The journey is longer, but the rewards are greater for the committed.

Originally released on Andrew Ostler's own Expert Sleepers label on limited edition blue vinyl last year, Cold Spring are very proud to press this gem onto CD for the first time.

IGGOR CAVALERA / SHANE EMBURY - 'Neon Gods / Own Your Darkness'
CD £11 | LP BLACK SOLD OUT | LP White £24 - OUT NOW!

Soundcloud  Soundcloud  Soundcloud  YouTube  YouTube  YouTube

Two legendary titans of the extreme metal scene - IGGOR CAVALERA (Cavalera Conspiracy / Petbrick / founding member of Sepultura) and SHANE EMBURY (Napalm Death / Dark Sky Burial) - join forces for this unique split of brooding dark ambient, industrial strength noise, and heavy synth-laden electronics, creating what feels like the lost soundtrack to some dystopian fever dream.

Setting the tone for this double-headed behemoth with creeping, cinematic dark ambience, IGGOR CAVALERA's side-long 'Neon Gods' unfolds into a brutal sonic nightmare. Equal measures of dread and anguish come together with the occasional reprieve of slow, pulsating drones and almost meditative waves of static. The crescendo of harsh industrial noise with heavy Death Industrial vocalisation is nothing short of pummelling.

"Neon Gods is a bit of a sonic trip, with different layers of atmospheric vibrations, from darkness to light. It's an absolute pleasure to do this split release with Shane, I believe we share a lot of similar ideas when it comes to opening our mind to different styles of sounds" (IC).

SHANE EMBURY's 'Own Your Darkness' merges menacing, pitch-black dark ambient and hypnotic bass swells with celestial synth lines that subtly lurk around the peripheries. Rising and falling, ebbing and flowing - until finally the all-encompassing apocalyptic bleakness, the enveloping darkness, closes in around you.

"Iggor and I have been good friends for decades and this is a record very different for us both but amazing! A very interesting track to make, it was my first experiment with the Solar 42. An excellent synth for those eternal drones of despair and was assisted my long time colleague Russ Russell. As I journey ever onward in through my individuation it's imperative that I own my own darkness... hence the title. We all need to strive for balance and to kindle a light in the darkness of being" (SE).

MARTYN WARE & CHARLES STOOKE & GABRIEL WARE CD £11.50 SATØRI - 'Pillars Of Salt'
CD £11
COLOSSLOTH - 'The Harmony Knife'
CD £11

An experimental dive into aquatic and industrial rhythms, this is the soundscape to the highly-successful, immersive installation "It's Always Ourselves We Find In The Sea" (premiere at The Saatchi Gallery) composed for 3D ambisonic sound by: MARTYN WARE (HEAVEN 17, B.E.F., ex-THE HUMAN LEAGUE), CHARLES STOOKE, and GABRIEL WARE.

Produced by Illustrious (Martyn Ware and Vince Clark of Erasure), with environmental and immersive design by Oscar Blustin and Anna Söderblom, the installation invites visitors into a contemplative space; a quiet, peaceful temple to water, within which the soundscape exists. Listeners enter and explore the space in their own time, letting the sounds wash over them, experiencing the stories and musical motifs as they build and gather then subside like the tide.

Taking a cue both from UNESCO's Ocean Literacy initiative and the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 14 - Life Below Water - "It's Always Ourselves We Find In The Sea" offers visitors an opportunity to consider their relationship with water, and to step back out into the world with an altered perspective on its value and cultural significance.

SATØRI's mission to document the stupidity of our species continues with "Pillars of Salt" - a journey through grinding rhythms, dystopian soundscapes and a fascination into what lies beneath the surface.

"An aberrant signal. Data loss. Corrupted programming. Everything should be fine. But it isn't, is it? Everything is f**ked. Something has gotten into the system and is destroying it from within. This is humanity being consumed by the inability to think for itself. Ahead is the future. Just don't look back..."

Formed in the mid-80's, with releases on high-calibre labels such as Broken Flag, Cold Spring, and Tesco Org., SATØRI's sound comprises a mixture of harsh Industrial noise and power electronics with harder and heavy percussive beats. Their material provides a constant pervasive undercurrent of violence, the feeling of a planet on the verge of collapse and a reflection of the lack of humanity embedded in a culture based on greed and self-preservation.

Guest: Lorenzo Abattoir. Producer:Andy Swan (Khost, Final, Tactical Pagan).

The fifth album from industrial / esoteric electronic alchemist Colossloth is a concept album based on the writings of professor Ted Kaczynski AKA the Unabomber. It is not about his terror campaign against the industrial society and the rise of technology - but his manifesto "Industrial Society And Its Future" and in particular the elements of "The Power Process".

"With "The Harmony Knife", Colossloth is cutting through to the bone and sinew of Man's chronic, species-specific dissatisfaction, and the causes thereof. He is laying bare humankind's inability to solve its own, self-created problems, to meet its basic needs, and to achieve even those goals clearly within its reach.

With "The Harmony Knife", Colossloth seizes these ideas and sonically extrapolates the implications of humankind's failure to satisfy even our most rudimentary needs. He creates an auditory landscape examining our repeated inability to focus our efforts on fundamental goals to ensure even a measure of happiness or contentment. Humanity's inability to live rather than merely exist" (Jake Shell).

AJNA - 'Algol' 2 x CD (Winter-Light) - £15

The new studio double album from Chris F; the mastermind behind Ajna. In Astronomy, Algol is known as the bright multiple star in the constellation of Perseus, also known as 'The Demon Star' or 'The Ghoul'. However, Algol has an entirely different meaning in Occult terms. According to Kenneth Grant's "Beyond The Mauve Zone", Algol is considered a form of altered consciousness between terrestrial and extra-terrestrial dimensions, an access to unknown alien realms deep within the universe. This album focuses on the mystery behind the dual concept of Algol. "Algol represents a specific state of consciousness on the threshold of the Mauve Zone with an Astro-occult body not identical with the star of the same name... a two-way conduit between terrestrial and extra-terrestrial dimensions of consciousness (Kenneth Grant, Beyond The Mauve Zone). Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel double digipak with cover and design by Patricia Schoonenberg.
ASHTORETH & PENUMBRAL AETHYRA - 'Naiad' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50

Two well known Belgian artists of the dark ambient scene - Peter Verwimp (Ashtoreth) and Nicolas Van Meirhaeghe (Penumbral Aethyr) - present us with new immersive ritual works. For this collaborative album, the artists were inspired by the link between a number of mythological creatures from several ancient cultures and their emotional representations. Like Boreas, the rough and cruel God of wind, cold and darkness; Nephthys, Goddess of birth and the underworld; Ptah, the original creator God in ancient Enneadic cosmogony and Naiad, the water elemental of the earth. As such she can summon and control all water in her immediate environment and manifest herself from that source. Water is linked to the emotions and therefore they chose Naiad as the fitting moniker for their album. These recordings are steeped in deeply felt emotions and meditations on both personal and general reflections about the state of the world and our place within it. The duo composed these pieces using only hardware, electro-acoustics, voices and field recordings. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve with art by Christel Morvan (Nesisart).
DAVID DUNN - 'Music, Language and Environment. Environmental Sound Works 1973 - 1985' 2 x CD (Nyahh Records) - £16

The six works represented on these two CDs (ranging from 5 to 45 mins) exist as documentation of performed events that are not repeatable, in the same way that notated musical works generally are. However, while they involved improvisational elements, they are not to be regarded as "improv" since they were rigorously composed for the environmental circumstances in which they took place. They represent an attempt to articulate an aesthetic of environmental interactivity through sound-making, which occupied David Dunn over a 15-year period. A diverse body of work which share the characteristic of having been outdoor performances. They also demonstrate a progressive expansion of context, moving from interactions with a single member of another species toward interactions with complex environments. Foremost in these experiments was a concern for sound as a means to explore the emergent intelligence of non-human living systems. "The listener must tolerate a wide range of unusual acoustic spaces and an even greater range of technical quality. I recommend that listeners adjust their audio expectations to accommodate these eccentric demands through understanding that the non-studio production values were intentional and inseparable from the reality of the art". Deluxe 6-panel digisleeve with booklet.
FRANCESCO PAOLO PALADINO with DOROTHY MOSKOWITZ + EDWARD KA-SPEL + LUCA FERRARI - 'Monastir' CD + Booklet (13 / Silentes) - £17

Written and rewritten over three years of meticulous work, "Monastir" is first and foremost a tribute to Andrei Tarkovskij. Conceived in poetic verses by Francesco Paolo Paladino (A.T.R.O.X., Nosesoul), the story was later adapted to suit the vocal artistry of Dorothy Moskowitz, with contributions from Luca Ferrari and Edward Ka-Spel (The Legendary Pink Dots). In this work, Paladino sought to merge the scent of science with that of religion, choosing an ambiguous setting that could hold every kind of question and unresolved doubt. The textures of the participating artists were woven almost magically into the composition. An invisible score made of a precious material - a musical euphoria where shadows reveal the unmistakable silhouettes of kindred spirits.

"A cosmic operator (Edward Ka-Spel), tasked with cleansing the Universe, stumbles upon the remains of a mysterious monastery scattered in Jupiter's skies during his work shift. The monastery once housed a community of cloistered nuns devoted to cosmic solitude. Among the ruins, he discovers the diary of Suona Menfrem (Dorothy Moskowitz). Through her words, he uncovers the secrets of her soul - her love for a woman millions of light years away - and learns why the monastery was abandoned. The nuns' mission, after reaching Jupiter via traditional propellants, was to replace them with the energy of prayers. Menfrem's writings reveal the mission's failure: the prayers, as fuel, lacked purity and truth. The absence of human forms in the ruins suggests an extreme act - the nuns may have sacrificed themselves, dissolving into the cosmos to become prayers (pure energy). The cosmic operator has no way of knowing whether this act opened new cosmic or moral horizons for them. Yet, he returns to Earth with Menfrem's manuscript, which grants him a new vision of the universe he traverses daily". Ltd x 250 copies containing the CD in PVC sleeve, housed in a 24-page 8" book, and finished with a printed hand-numbered vellum wrap.
ILUITEQ + ERALDO BERNOCCHI - 'Fade, Remain' CD (13 / Silentes) - £12

In its apparent bare simplicity, "Fade, Remain" is the most uncompromising and intimate album of ILUITEQ (Sergio Calzoni & Andrea Bellucci) to date. Delving the universal human condition of experiencing a loss and coping with a new phase of life, ILUITEQ release a new collaborative album, co-written with renowned Italian producer and musician Eraldo Bernocchi (Sigillum S). The album juxtaposes the condition of "fading", meant as leaving or departing, with the notion of "remaining", either physically or spiritually. The existentialist theme of the album is gradually unravelled through the tracks, depicting a sombre and sometimes mournful atmosphere. With "Fade, Remain", ILUITEQ go back to the more ambient-drone sound which characterised their first works, relying almost entirely on analogue synths and outboard for the production and mixing. Guitar and piano were later added, while the field recordings mixed in the tracks were recorded in Bosco della Panfilia (Terre Del Reno, Italy). Rafael Anton Irisarri provided an extra level of depth to the tracks, thanks to his proven experience and craftsmanship as a mastering engineer, perfectly sculpting the bass frequencies and adding the extra airy to the album at his Black Knoll Studio. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve.
LIA BOSCH - 'Ever Expanding' CD (13 / Silentes) - £12

Lia Bosch is a multidisciplinary artist whose debut "Polar Code" emerged on Glacial Movements (2024). "Ever Expanding" unfolds like a fissure in the continuity of the real. Each sonic fragment carries the memory of an archaic gesture, while also heralding a form yet to come. Nothing asserts itself, yet everything emerges with the gentle force of an apparition - unstable configurations that breathe in the space between the familiar and the elusive. The pieces overlap without collision: each remains distinct, yet surfaces within a shared field. All tracks incorporate binaural frequencies designed to enrich the listening experience. What arises is a multiplicity that resists synthesis, favouring coexistence instead. A quiet tension transforms listening into a practice of exposure - to the other, the distant, the nearly familiar. "Ever Expanding" is a geography of impermanent presences, leaving behind a trace without origin. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve.
LIKE THE SNOW - 'The Power Of Eternal Love' CD (St.An.Da. / Silentes) - £12

Continuing the luminous path forged by his previous CD, "The Visions Of A Dream Traveller", Like the Snow returns to paint vast cinematic soundscapes that breathe with emotional depth, shifting seamlessly between disruptive, majestic crescendos with thunderous orchestral impact and more introspective passages of nocturnal intimacy. These darker, at times brooding atmospheres are delicately pierced by fleeting luminescent textures, gradually dissolving into serene ambient spaces that remain deeply melodic. Throughout this sonic voyage persists that signature melancholic romanticism - the nostalgic essence that has permeated Like The Snow (Luca Mazzariol)'s work since the project's inception, now woven even more intricately into every sonic layer. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve.
MASKHEAD - 'Painful Persuation' CD + 3" CD Tin Boxset (Aussaat) - £20

Maskhead is celebrating its 10th anniversary with this special boxset: "Painful Persuation" (the band's own spelling). This album offers great insight for the sleazy and noisy world of Maskhead. There are all those elements included which make this Finnish artist one of a kind: self made oscillator manipulations, fast driven pedal torturing and metal junk spanking (recorded in the old boiler room of an abandoned house). It's sleazy, it's insane, it's the celebration of Maskhead! CD and 3" CD (both CD-proper) presented in a velvet-lined tin box with 6-page booklet and sticker. Ltd x 125 copies only - very few in stock!
MERZBOW + AGENCEMENT - 'Rilievo' CD (Pico) - £14

"Rilievo" is a collaborative album from Masami Akita's legendary Japanese noise project Merzbow, working alongside avant-garde violin player / improviser Hideaki Shimada (Agencement), who has been active since the early '80s. Akita operates in a rather unexpected restrained mode, and although there are some intense peaks of noise, the focus is on heavily processing the close-mic'd violin scratching and scraping sounds - almost a return to his electroacoustic / improv roots but with the benefit of modern software. "We often forget Masami's start in music was playing improvised percussion... one might think it's all going to explode in traditional Merzbowian noise. Yet, it only happens briefly and returns to the heavily processed acoustic side. That said, the music has a noise aspect, especially how it was recorded. It has that direct, close-to-the-microphone approach, scratching and rubbing strings loudly and forcefully. It is a great release of noisy improvisation and a surprise for Merzbow fans" (Vital Weekly). Digipak with each artist creating artwork throughout. Very few in stock!
ONE LEG ONE EYE - '...And Take The Black Worm With Me' LP (Nyahh Records) - £22

As a founding member of Dublin experimental folk group LANKUM, Ian Lynch explores submerged leylines of music and song. His solo project One Leg One Eye sees him taking a fresh approach to musical arrangement culminating in a sound that is more rooted in the raw aesthetics of second wave black metal than contemporary folk. Over the course of a year, Lynch enjoyed the freedom of experimenting and exploring different paths of sound design without expectation or pressure. Seeking out interesting settings to record music and gather field recordings, the essence of which have seeped into the spirit of the music, Lynch explores rediscovered spaces in Dublin and familiar interior spaces. He frequently visited the abandoned warehouse where his father worked and sang with his shruti box, contented in his solitude. The result is a distinct and sometimes harrowing drone-folk atmosphere conjured throughout the album's five lengthy and enveloping compositions, with a beautiful, immersive sadness resonating throughout. Fourth pressing on black vinyl in a reverseboard sleeve.
ROD MODELL - 'Music For Bus Stations' CD (13 / Silentes) - £13

"Music For Bus Stations" is an astonishing work that pours into the soul of those allowing themselves to be transported in a dimension where sound turns into background noise. Sound becomes part of us, of our movements, our thoughts, our looks and our silences. There is no reason for resistance. Let's be silent. The noise around us is quite good. "Generative sonic backdrop for bus stations. Designed to enhance space and portray a mod of progressiveness, grandeur, and ethereal calm. A slowly shifting static backdrop designed to enhance modern architecture, rather than compete with it. Sounding as if the structure itself was resonating. Hovering sound-fields that utilizes sonic phenomena proven to induce states of calm. Can be presented as a multichannel, polyrhythmic installation with different components of the composition emanating from different areas within the structure, and elements constantly shifting in relationship to other elements, creating an organic sonic-tapestry that never repeats the same way. In essence, the soundscape becoming a living organism with unpredictable behavior. Inspired by avant-garde bus station designs such as Domitianus Arquitectura's station in Rio Maior, Portugal; Bluck & Morgen's Busbahnhof Poppenbuttel in Hamburg, Germany; and Metaraum Architect's bus station in Pzorzheim, Germany". Rod Modell is a sound designer operating primarily from Detroit (with a base in Amsterdam). The CD features a 62-minute long piece, with a different mix to the vinyl. Second edition. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve with photography by Zooey Braun.
ROD MODELL - 'Music For Bus Stations 1 (MF)' LP BLACK (13 / Silentes) - £26

First in a two-part vinyl release for "Music For Bus Stations". This part 1 ("MF") includes two tracks with a different mix than the CD, for a total of 36 minutes and features slightly different sleeve art than either the CD or part 2 ("BS") editions. Second edition. Ltd x 300 copies on black vinyl in a flood-printed sleeve with photography by Zooey Braun.
ROD MODELL - 'Music For Bus Stations 2 (BS)' LP BLACK (13 / Silentes) - £26

Second in a two-part vinyl release for "Music For Bus Stations". This part 2 ("BS") includes two tracks with a different mix than the CD, for a total of 38 minutes and features slightly different sleeve art than either the CD or part 1 ("MF") editions. Second edition. Ltd x 300 copies on black vinyl in a flood-printed sleeve with photography by Zooey Braun.
ROGER DOYLE - 'We Who Live Under Heaven' CD (Nyahh Records) - £12

"We Who Live Under Heaven" is a phrase from James Joyce's Finnegans Wake. Through software transformations, the music freezes and in some cases fossilises some mostly old recordings. The text for the track 'The Clouds Are Not Inaccessible' is from a letter written by James Joyce's daughter Lucia in the 1930's to her psychiatrist. Spoken by Mary Costelloe. The album consists of eight immersive ambient tracks played solo by Roger on keyboards in his home studio in Co Wicklow, Ireland. Roger Doyle's 50 year career started in 1975 with the release of his debut album "Ozzio No", a collection of Musique Concrete and audio cut ups. To date he has over 30 releases (including his project Operating Theatre on United Dairies), ranging from compositional work, sound art, sound tracks and opera. An early pioneer of electronica, he has often been named "The Godfather of Irish Electronica". Gatefold digisleeve featuring pinhole photography by Karen Browett.
SPLENDORE - 'I Know Your Voice, But It's Hard To Find In The Crowd' CD (13 / Silentes) - £12

A concept album centred on the use of the voice. What shape does the voice take when conveying an emotion? The compositions in this work are made up (almost exclusively) an extensive spectrum of voices that sing, speak, whisper, processed through Auto-Tune, or emerge from WhatsApp messages, VSTs, analogue and digital '80s/'90s keyboards , field recordings, and samples from films, TV, and YouTube. "I Know Your Voice, But It's Hard To Find In The Crowd" is an emotional exploration of the role of the voice, the only instrument generated within our own bodies. The result is a study of the intimate relationship between the voice and the body, the voice and the self, and the voice and the people around us. A journey that moves from the materiality of the body to divination, passing through inner, aesthetic, and amorous exploration. The titles of the compositions are inspired by the work of Dutch artist Bas Jan Ader. Splendore is an Italian musician, DJ, curator, and performer. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve.
THEME - 'Meditations On Space, Volume One' CD (Fourth Dimension) - £11.50

"Meditations on Space, Volume One" is the seventh album from UK's Theme and represents the first volume in a two-part set. Consisting of one piece of music (spanning around 40 minutes in total), broken into seven parts, it sees the core duo of Richard Johnson (Splintered, Husk) and Stuart Carter (Splintered, The Fields Of Hay), working with contributions from Zsolt Sores, Hiroshimabend, Emma Lynch and Michal Wojciechowski to create a blanket of shifting sonic textures and pulses that are at once dynamic and unpredictable. Utilising electronics, field recordings, viola, voices, guitar and a variety of other sound sources, the sound here is rich in scope as it vacillates between the dramatic and more subdued. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak.
THOMAS BEY WILLIAM BAILEY - 'Liminalia' CD Book - SIGNED (Fifteen Minutes Of Anonymity) - £20

"Liminalia" bridges a gap between supposedly distinct states of consciousness. During the process of recording the album, Thomas Bey William Bailey leafed through some dream journals and noted an unusually large number of dream scenarios involving the performance of music at strange "hybrid" spaces, i.e. ones in which the experiences of waking life were supplemented by encounters with people / places / things of a totally alien nature. Sonically, this draws upon a host of different influences from controlled feedback and metallic churn reminiscent of Organum, or strange glistening ephemera a la Asmus Tietchens, to skittering analogue soundscapes. Although light on more violent elements, this may be the most potent item in Thomas' ouevre in terms of overall cohesion and in its ability to develop a simultaneously frightening and seductive atmosphere. Many of the sonic flourishes here are as close as we can possibly get to the composer's dreamed auditory experience: particularly the fragmented human voice, rendered as a purely aesthetic / ornamental micro-sound. This is complemented by an a-musical agglomeration of static, ultrasonic pinpricks and percussive flutters that act as synesthetic triggers while in the dreaming state. Ethereal, washed-out melodies also appear at unexpected intervals, and dissolve with an equal level of unpredictability.

Ltd x 100 copies (CD proper) presented in a luxurious soft-feel hardcover dream / nightmare journal with CD mounted on inside, with fluid cover designs from artist Paul Takahashi. Listeners are encouraged to play the album before sleeping and to record any dreamed impressions in the blank pages provided. The book features: 160 pages of Swedish Munken Kristall lined paper, 16-page centre seam of blank G .F. Smith paper in 'cool grey', heavyweight, textured top sheet with information, grey heat-sealed wayfinding ribbon, and a lay-flat design with Swiss binding. A real thing of beauty, hand-signed and numbered by TBWB.
ULTAN O'BRIEN - 'Dancing The Line' CD (Nyahh Records) - £12

Ultan O'Brien is a fiddle player and composer from the wilds of County Clare in the West of Ireland, and can be found by chance in any pub in Dublin, Cork or some remote village on the edge of nowhere, flying jigs and reels around the room. Ultan was reared in the rich tradition of Irish music which is so commonly found and heard in Co Clare, but he also delves deep into sound art and experimental music. He has often been heard in the back of a car after a few pints quoting lines from Alvin Lucier or speaking at length about improvisation and its place in modern Irish music. A fresh and vital player who has much to offer with his unique approach and technique to a tradition so old and ever ready for a subtle change every 100 years or so. "Dancing The Line" is played on an alternatively-tuned alto fiddle. "I found that the resonance and growl of this lower tuned instrument sat me perfectly into the sound-world I wanted to be in, giving vibrancy to my own compositions and nestling into the traditional music I grew up with". Presented in a 6-panel digisleeve, illustrated by Denise Conroy.
ULTAN O'BRIEN - 'Dancing The Line' LP (Nyahh Records) - £22

Black vinyl edition of the above release.
WORTH - 'Me Vexat Pede' CD + Poster (Aussaat) - £14

On the album "Me Vexat Pede", US Harsh Noise act Worth presents 11 radical and intense noise compositions. In a way it continues where his last album "Hamper" (Aussaat, 2023) left the listener. A sonic map of nonage, and from without - the spoilage in returning. Ltd x 300 copies CD in a super jewelcase, with 8-page booklet and a double sided A3 "Tree Of Light / Tree Of Knowledge" folded poster (this pack may not fit through a standard letterbox).
VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'A Collection Of Slow Airs By Some Very Fine Fiddlers' CD (Nyahh Records) - £12

"A slow air is a type of tune in Irish traditional music marked by the absence of strict metre or structure, melodically "open ended" and generally derived from the melody of a sung song but instead played on a solo melodic instrument. The melodies are often drawn from the sean-nós solo singing tradition". Slow airs differ from other Irish trad tunes as airs are more contemplative, melancholy and the style is based more on the singing style of sean-nós. Other traditional tunes like jigs, reels, hornpipes and marches are meant for dancing. Much like the sean-nós singing, slow airs are for listening and are prone to evoke many emotions, either reflective or sad and give the listener a chance to sit quietly listening, almost in a meditative state. It would not be uncommon in a pub during an air to see some fella or other having a little cry in to his pint during the playing of an air. The fiddlers mostly recorded the songs themselves on phones or digital recorders, producing a very warm and roomy set of recordings. No effects or too much mixing. Just the raw sound of the playing in a room. Features: Cornmac Mac Diarmada, Saileog Ní Cheannabháin, Danny Diamond, Tola Custy, Ultan O'Brien, Lucia Mac Partlin, Mossie Martin, Sinéad Kennedy, Martin McGinley, and Ingrid Lyons. Presented in a beautifully-illustrated (by Denise Conroy) 6-panel digisleeve.

KLOOB & ONASANDER - 'Goês' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50

"Goês", the third collaborative album between these two great Dark Ambient / Drone artists, is focused upon funeral laments and chthonic sorcery. In the Greek mysteries, the funeral lament turned into a magical act and the 'daimons', the spirits of the dead, were the ideal mediators between the living and the dead. They were manipulated with evil intentions and forced to act against their will. Preceded by "Tempestarii" (2022), and "Mundus Patet" (2020), "Goês", brings the end of the witchcraft trilogy from Kloob (Spain's Dani Kloob) & Onasander (Italy's Maurizio Landini). Ronald Mariën (Stratosphere). Ltd x 300 copies in a gatefold digisleeve.
KLOOB & ONASANDER - 'Mundus Patet' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50

Italy's Maurizio Landini and Spain's Dani Kloob join forces for this collaborative release. Dark ambience, drones and atmospherics evoke the ancient rite of "Mundus Patet", the dark esoteric tradition of the ancient Romans. The opening of the mundus put the world of the living and the world of the dead into communication... Three times a year, "Mundus Cereris", an infernal door located in the Roman Forum and still visible to this day, was opened. On these days the infernal deities and spirits came out of the opening and wandered among the world of the living. During these days all temple doors had to remain closed, and it was forbidden to do battle or take a wife. Mundus Cereris is part of the most obscure and ancient traditions of the archaic Roman religion but the ritual itself is probably of Etruscan origin. The rite provided that on 24th August, 5th October and 8th November the mundus was open and therefore those days were marked in the calendar as "Mundus Patet" ("the earth is open"). Ltd x 200 copies in a digipak.
MARK WHARTON - 'Just Glittering / Idwal Fisher' Book (Korm Plastics) - £38

A HEFTY tome of UK noise history here, just shy of 500 pages. Just Glittering and Idwal Fisher were two collaborative noise zines produced by Mark Wharton, featuring work by the genre's finest exponents and fans. The first issues of Just Glittering appeared in the late '90s, and the two zines went on to document a fertile decade of creative noise-making. Back then, you couldn't walk past a pub in Leeds without hearing windows rattled by a passing Japanese noise artist or effects pedals looped into submission, whilst meat thermometers regularly disappeared into places where no self-respecting meat thermometer would ever wish to go. Grotty rooms above pubs in England saw wild, ear-shattering performances from the likes of Filthy T*rd, Smell & Quim and The New Blockaders. Labels put out cassettes tied to sponges, 5" singles had 500 tracks on them, LPs came in steel boxes, and gigs sank. A lot happened, and these zines documented it in all its messy glory. Here, you will find reviews of those gigs and releases from that period, interviews, tour diaries, charity shop record reviews and word searches in German, culminating in the 2007 four-day New York No Fun Fest. All issues of Just Glittering and Idwal Fisher are reprinted in this collection. A4, Hardcover, 488pp.

NIMH & RAPOON - 'Post-Folk Lore Vol. 1' CD (Winter-Light) - £11.50

Two highly respected artists join forces for this collaborative release, comprised of four longform pieces, spanning an hour. Nimh (Giuseppe Verticchio - Twist of Fate, Hall of Mirrors, Maribor, We Promise To Betray) & Rapoon (Robin Storey - Reformed Faction, ex-Zoviet France) recording together for the very first time. "The droning, expressive, and elaborate music collected in Post - Folk Lore Vol. 1 transports you at the very origins of magical wonder and inner, uplifting spiritual experiences... A meticulous work between two highly acclaimed artists in the field of blissful ambient sceneries, droning minimalism, and musical mysticism... Somewhere between the radiant ethno-ritual music of Popol Vuh, Between, Laraaji, the sacred, tranced-out or grimy minimalism of Ira Cohen and the more droning industrial-infused soundscapes of Deutsch Nepal, Maeror Tri or Jeff Greinke" (Igloo Mag). Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak.

METGUMBNERBONE - 'The Morden Tower Conjurations' Cassette (Infinite Fog Productions) - £18

Rare archive recording of Metgumbnerbone - the cult ritual industrial formation founded by John Mylotte and a rotating group of performers including Richard Rupenus (The New Blockaders), Philip Rupenus, Sean Breadin (Sedayne), and Mike Watson. "The Morden Tower Conjurations" has, until now, only been available as an unofficial release, mistakenly credited to Citipati. This is the first official release of this collection of tracks, culled from a session at Morden Tower in 1983. These conjurations took place with a view to, perhaps, becoming the first Metgumbnerbone LP. Soon after, further summonings were undertaken in an abandoned railway tunnel and the band thought they would make a better first album. Not long after that the celebrants enacted their duplicitous mummery once again within the ruins of industry which, of course, did become their first LP "Ligeliahorn". The tunnel summonings formed the backbone of "Druen", and "The Morden Tower Conjurations" were all but forgotten about. Now, let us journey forth in time some forty English years and we get to wondering about whatever happened to those early recordings. An initial inspection of THE METGUMBNERVAULTS proved unfruitful. Richard Rupenus had made the original recordings but, unfortunately, didn't know what had become of them. However, he did remember that he had made a copy of said recordings at the time for someone who had been there. Bone-coloured cassette shell, with j-card sleeve. Very few copies in stock!
400 LONELY THINGS - 'Subdivisions' CD (Unexplained Sounds) - £12

What sets 400 Lonely Things apart is its ability to turn seemingly mundane or discarded sonic artifacts into evocative, almost cinematic experiences. The project's work resonates with fans of dark ambient, hauntology, and experimental sound design, offering a gateway into worlds where time has fractured and memories linger like spectral echoes. "Subdivisions", the latest album from 400 Lonely Things, marks a departure from the project's conceptual and thematic approaches of the past. For the first time, there is no overarching narrative, no predefined agenda, just music existing in its purest form. Each track functions like a memory of a memory, a fleeting impression untethered to any specific story or framework. These pieces are nebulous journal entries, capturing the essence of a time, a place, and a mood. 400 Lonely Things employs a variety of occasional instrumentation but primarily uses obscure sampling to weave mostly instrumental melodic collages of melancholic texture and psychedelic drone. These weathered, loop-based introspective forays border on hauntology, dark ambient, experimental, electronic, and plunderphonics. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel matt digipak.
VIDNA OBMANA - 'Twilight Of Perception Redux Volume Two 1995-2002' 3 x CD (Zoharum) - £20

The second instalment in a series of compilations from VIDNA OBMANA (aka Dirk Series, also of Fear Falls Burning) is a collection of rare recordings 1995-2002, ALL but four of which are previously unreleased before (those which are were on notable labels such as Projekt, Klanggalerie, and Arborlon Music - which are now practically unobtainable). Over these 16 ambient / shamanic tracks, Serries offers atmospheres created using various fujaras, overtone flutes and percussion, dreampipe, recycling and abstract mutations, and voices. These tracks have been collected in one place, rearranged, remastered and provided with a proper commentary by Dirk Serries. A reliable compendium and a supplement to VIDNA OBMANA's extensive discography. Ltd x 300 copies in an 8-panel double digipak with graphics designed using a photos by Martina Veerhoeven.
DAVID JACKMAN - 'Steadfast' 2 x CD (Die Stadt) - £15

Even though David Jackman gets the credit in the title, the music itself is pure Organum electronics - dense and noisy. Emerging as a meditative gesture within the long and enigmatic arc of Jackman's output, "Steadfast" stands as both a summation and a deepening of concerns that have occupied him for decades. The release captures Jackman at a moment of stark clarity and quiet force. His legacy, shaped through collaborations with figures like David Tibet and Steven Stapleton, has always occupied a space between austerity and intensity, drawing on minimalism, drone, and ritualised abstraction to forge a language uniquely his own. On "Steadfast" we find a music that is neither strictly acoustic nor electronic, but something in between; an environment, a slow unfolding. Analogue synthesizers swell and recede like distant weather systems; field recordings and incidental sounds rise with spectral insistence before dissolving again into silence. There is a patience here, a sense of refusal, of staying with the sound long after others might have let go. Moments verge on the imperceptible, only to bloom suddenly into passages of engulfing texture. Rather than a document of change, "Steadfast" feels like a portrait of duration, of persistence in listening and making. For those familiar with the ceremonial gravity of Organum or the liminal poetics of Nurse With Wound, this work may feel at once familiar and startlingly new - a quiet epiphany from one of the most singular voices in experimental sound. Ltd x 500 copies in a gatefold digisleeve.
SHIBALBA - 'Nekrologie Sinistrae (Orchestra Noise Opus II)' CD (Zazen Sounds) - £12

The second chapter of the "Nekrologie Sinistrae - Orchestra Noise Opus II" (the first chapter was released 2022). As the eternal Suns of Ma'at blaze through the inner sanctums of Self, Nekrologie Sinistrae guides the listener through the initiatic spiral - where torment, silence, and divine ecstasy converge. This is not merely an album; it is a sacred odyssey, an offering that stares into the abyss of Thanatos and pierces it with the rose spear of Life Eternal. In a vortex of esoteric vibrations and ceremonial soundscapes, Shibalba performs an act of sonic alchemy - dissolving the veil between life and death, merging the metaphysical opposites of the Therion and the Knight. Here, Death and Life embrace as lovers, dancing beneath the gaze of the One King who reigns over both Moon and Sun. This is music for the sacred rites of Becoming and Over-Becoming. A breath and a cry. A mirror of the agonizing beauty that lies within transcendent transformation. 6-panel digisleeve. Already sold out from the label!
VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Solaris. Music Inspired By Andrei Tarkowsky's Movie' CD (Eighth Tower Records / Unexplained Sounds) - £12

Few films in the history of cinema have achieved the haunting, meditative power of Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris (1972). This masterpiece of science fiction transcends the genre's typical preoccupation with technology and speculative futures, reaching instead into the depths of human consciousness, memory, and the aching poetry of the unknown. Solaris unfolds slowly, its deliberate pacing inviting viewers to sink into the vast silences and lingering imagery that define Tarkovsky's cinematic language. Long tracking shots through rain-soaked landscapes and the dim corridors of the space station evoke a sense of isolation and introspection. The film's visual and aural textures work in harmony, crafting an atmosphere where memory feels as palpable as the physical environment. This immersive quality is heightened by the sparse yet evocative electronic score by Eduard Artemyev, whose droning soundscapes and abstract compositions mirror the psychological disorientation experienced by the characters. This compilation is a tribute to Tarkovsky's vision, an attempt to translate the enigmatic beauty of Solaris into a sonic experience. Each track, like the planet's ocean, reflects fragments of memory and imagination, evoking both wonder and melancholy. The music contained here draws from the textures of ambient, drone, and experimental electronics, mirroring the film's hypnotic pacing and its exploration of the liminal spaces between waking and dreaming. In these compositions, you may hear the echoes of Kelvin's (the main character) sorrow, the undulating mystery of Solaris, and the endless dance between presence and absence. To immerse oneself in Solaris is to embark on a journey without easy answers. Likewise, this collection of music invites you to drift into the unknown, to embrace the mysteries that lie beneath the surface of sound, and to discover, perhaps, something of your own subconscious reflected back at you. Features: Psychophysicist (Adi Newton of Clock DVA / TAGC), 400 Lonely Things, Kloob. Mario Lino Stancati, Michael Bonaventure, Phoanøgramma, Yousef Kawar, Rauðvik, Sílení, Solaris, Mark Hjorthoy, and Zzoneman. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel matt digipak.
THE NEW BLOCKADERS + LE SCRAMBLED DEBUTANTE + KNURL - 'Pulchrum Metallum' CD (4iB Records) - £12

Hot on the heels of the THE NEW BLOCKADERS + LE SCRAMBLED DEBUTANTE "La Puissance Du Vide" LP (Wepwawet Editions) comes "Pulchrum Metallum", a three-track collaboration CD in conjunction with KNURL. "Pulchrum Metallum" is a work of a seemingly incompatible blending of aesthetics. Allan Zane has seamlessly merged the anti-music of TNB with KNURL's mechanized, amorphous soundscapes, feeding the results through LE SCRAMBLED DEBUTANTE's absurdity blender to create a swirling vortex of utter chaos. Ltd x 300 copies in a jewelcase with artwork by Allan Zane & Armando Fragale.
SANGRE DE MUÉRDAGO - 'O Camiño Das Mans Valeiras' LP GREEN 'NIGHT FOREST' (Throne Records) - £23

Acclaimed third album from the magick folk druids, repressed for the first time after nearly a decade. Highly recommended! "A calming and very touching Acoustic folk album. Perfect for evenings with candles and red wine. Galician folk inspired by the otherworld. Truly magical" (Oliver s.Tyr / FAUN). "Sangre de Muerdago has soul. The music, performance, and lyrics so clearly emerge from the collective heart of the band that the listener cannot help but be genuinely moved by their songs. Few bands in the neofolk scene unabashedly expose their soul, but Sangre de Muerdago does so with honesty and sincerity" (Don Anderson / AGALLOCH). Ltd x 200 copies on 180g swamp green 'Night Forest' vinyl with 2 fold-out custom inserts and download card, in a reverseboard gatefold sleeve.
HANZO HASASHI - 'The Ceremony' CD (Cipher Productions) - £12

The quality of Hanzo Hasashi's discography is evident to all those who have waded into it. Constructed with care and a unique sense of auditory space, "The Ceremony" churns fragments of snatched sound and treated noise molecules into uncomfortable, and unstable and disrupted loops - to then weave and layer those lines into the project's typically dynamic compositions. A study of beauty in disruption, of stability in impermanence. Mastered by Grant Richardson (Gnawed). Ltd x 100 copies (CD proper) in a jewelcase, with art by Hasashi.
AGNIVOLOK + NECROMISHKA - 'Animal God' CD (999 Cuts) - £12

The new album from legendary Neofolk / Dark Ambient from Agnivolok (aka Vera Agnivolok) - with lyrics inspired by magical realism, mythology and folklore. Five years in the making, this album is finally out, fusing the enchanted style of Vera's voice and guitar with dark atmospheres and soundscapes provided by Necromishka (Michael Zolotov of Kadaver + Tamar Singer of Zeresh / Cruel Wonders), in charge of electronics and production. Woven with violins, flutes, mandolins and keyboards, this album features 11 mesmerizing tracks. Ambient, unsettling, harsh, yet quiet and beautiful. Presented in a white-tray jewelcase with 8-page booklet full of original artwork drawings by Vera herself.
ANGLACHEL - 'Of Tuor, Idril And Their Departure From Gondolin - Deluxe Edition' CD (FYCR) - £12

Anglachel is a Dungeon Synth project by Admetos (Elegos, Faunus), drawing inspiration from the world of J.R.R. Tolkien. "Of Tuor, Idril And their Departure From Gondolin" is a musical journey to the First Age of Tolkien's legendarium. The dark story of the fall of Gondolin and the departure of Tuor and Idril through their secret way to safety, finally sailing to Valinor. Anglachel presents the second, powerful part of their story; darker, more epic and more mature. It blends atmospheric and medieval-inspired sounds to capture the the journey, with tales of loss, resilience, and the passage into the unknown, staying true to the themes of the original tale. "I wanted to capture the feeling of a world on the edge of ruin, using layered synth textures, dark melodies, and a sense of movement that mirrors the story's events... building an atmosphere that feels both ancient and cinematic". This is a reissue of their debut full-length album (2019), with an exclusive bonus track "In Solitude I Wander", solidifying its status as a classic album within the Dungeon Synth community. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digipack. The first 100 copies (this) come in a special Deluxe Edition with two stickers and a monogram patch.
HORNORKESTERET - 'Jehovas Vinter' LP (Panot) - £23

Norway's Hornorkesteret reinvent the songs of their forefathers with the compositions on "Jehovas Vinter", their first studio album despite being formed by Jonas Qvale in 1999. The group presents a dark, foggy and mystical folk music landscape with a collection of original tunes written by them. Elements of folk rock, Scandinavian traditional music and sinister "popular" music are heard through the interweaving string horn melodies (reindeer antlers and moose skull) and ritualistic drums (timpani, rototoms, bells, wood), with mandolin on the title track. "The melancholia and dissonance of Hornorkesteret makes me think of some kind of undead New Orleans marching band at a funeral ('Jehovas vinter'), while songs like 'Den sorgfulle sjaman' conjures images of a bunch of psychotic laplanders... In other words, very strange, very disturbing, and very cool" (Mortiis). Black vinyl with cover paintings by Jonas Qvale.
