SATORI - 'Pillars Of Salt'
CD £9 Adv - OUT 28 FEBRUARY

Bandcamp  Soundcloud  Download

SATØRI's mission to document the stupidity of our species continues with "Pillars of Salt" - a journey through grinding rhythms, dystopian soundscapes and a fascination into what lies beneath the surface.

"An aberrant signal. Data loss. Corrupted programming. Everything should be fine. But it isn't, is it? Everything is f**ked. Something has gotten into the system and is destroying it from within. This is humanity being consumed by the inability to think for itself. Ahead is the future. Just don't look back..."

Formed in the mid-80's, with previous releases on high-calibre labels such as Broken Flag, Cold Spring, Trident, Mindscan, and Tesco Organisation, SATØRI's sound comprises a mixture of harsh Industrial noise and power electronics with harder and heavier percussive beats than before. Their material provides a constant pervasive undercurrent of violence, the feeling of a planet on the verge of collapse and a reflection of the lack of humanity embedded in a culture based on greed and self-preservation.

Featuring guest vocalist Lorenzo Abattoir, the album was produced by Andy Swan (Khost, Final, Iroha, Tactical Pagan).

COLOSSLOTH - 'The Harmony Knife'
CD £9 Adv - OUT 28 FEBRUARY

The fifth album from industrial / esoteric electronic alchemist Colossloth is a concept album based on the writings of professor Ted Kaczynski AKA the Unabomber. It is not about his terror campaign against the industrial society and the rise of technology - but his manifesto "Industrial Society And Its Future" and in particular the elements of "The Power Process".

"With "The Harmony Knife", Colossloth is cutting through to the bone and sinew of Man's chronic, species-specific dissatisfaction, and the causes thereof. He is laying bare humankind's inability to solve its own, self-created problems, to meet its basic needs, and to achieve even those goals clearly within its reach.

What is the fundamental nature of the human condition? Is it one of misery and failure in the face of blissful possibility? Is it the contrary unwillingness to accept that we can become fully realised and contented beings through the success of actualised, idiosyncratic, and often basic goals?

In defining and describing The Power Process, the twisted mind of Ted Kaczynski saw mankind's primal need to struggle for a goal, however small, as necessary for a meaningful life. Indeed, without this elemental piece of the evolutionary struggle, he saw terminal atrophy as the inevitable result.

With "The Harmony Knife", Colossloth seizes these ideas and sonically extrapolates the implications of humankind's failure to satisfy even our most rudimentary needs. He creates an auditory landscape examining our repeated inability to focus our efforts on fundamental goals to ensure even a measure of happiness or contentment. Humanity's inability to live rather than merely exist" (Jake Shell).

VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Электронная Музыка АНС (ANS Electronic Music)'
CD £8.50 Adv - OUT 28 FEBRUARY

   Soundcloud

Available on CD (or any other format) for the first time outside USSR, Soviet composers perform their works on the legendary ANS synthesizer.

Recorded in 1969, "Электронная Музыка АНС (ANS Electronic Music)' features 6 tracks of experiments on the unique machine by: Eduard Artemiev, Stanislav Kreitchi, Sándor Kallós, and Alexander Nemtin. A 'musical' machine unlike any other which has long fascinated cutting edge, modern electronic composers, notably COIL and THE ANTI GROUP COMMUNICATIONS (TAGC) / CLOCK DVA, that have both released recordings utilising the ANS.

Try to imagine a score sounding by itself without a conductor; an orchestra without musical instruments. This magic is possible by using the musical ANS synthesizer. Created by Soviet scientist Evgeny Murzin over the course of 20 years, ANS is an instrument with which a composer can not only create but also draw their music without notes. You can see the twinkling of different lamps, the rotation of grooved glass discs... The drawings on the glass are 'sounding notes'. To listen to the drawn picture, press the button and a wonderful transformation will begin.

Inside the ANS are five rotating glass discs with 144 tones printed (by hand) on each one. Light is projected through the discs and onto photovoltaic cellbank which converts the light into electricity and sends signals to the ANS's amplifiers and bandpass filters. The ANS can generate 720 tones this way and, unlike a human musician, play them all at the same time.

Murzin dedicated his photoelectronic apparatus to Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin, hence the name ANS. Scriabin, the creator of the 'Poem of Ecstasy', and a famous explorer of synesthesia, used in his works a highly chromatic, new type of harmonic style designed to express his beliefs, views and wishes.

Soviet music lovers will already know recordings made on ANS from Tarkovsky's films Solaris, The Mirror, and Stalker, Konchalovsky's film Siberiade, and others.

IGGOR CAVALERA / SHANE EMBURY - 'Neon Gods / Own Your Darkness'
CD £9.50 Adv | LP Black £20 Adv | LP White £22 Adv - OUT 21 MARCH

Soundcloud  Soundcloud  Soundcloud

Two legendary titans of the extreme metal scene - IGGOR CAVALERA (Cavalera Conspiracy / Petbrick / founding member of Sepultura) and SHANE EMBURY (Napalm Death / Dark Sky Burial) - join forces for this unique split of brooding dark ambient, industrial strength noise, and heavy synth-laden electronics, creating what feels like the lost soundtrack to some dystopian fever dream.

Setting the tone for this double-headed behemoth with creeping, cinematic dark ambience, IGGOR CAVALERA's side-long 'Neon Gods' unfolds into a brutal sonic nightmare. Equal measures of dread and anguish come together with the occasional reprieve of slow, pulsating drones and almost meditative waves of static. The crescendo of harsh industrial noise with heavy Death Industrial vocalisation is nothing short of pummelling.

"Neon Gods is a bit of a sonic trip, with different layers of atmospheric vibrations, from darkness to light. It's an absolute pleasure to do this split release with Shane, I believe we share a lot of similar ideas when it comes to opening our mind to different styles of sounds" (IC).

SHANE EMBURY's 'Own Your Darkness' merges menacing, pitch-black dark ambient and hypnotic bass swells with celestial synth lines that subtly lurk around the peripheries. Rising and falling, ebbing and flowing - until finally the all-encompassing apocalyptic bleakness, the enveloping darkness, closes in around you.

"Iggor and I have been good friends for decades and this is a record very different for us both but amazing! A very interesting track to make, it was my first experiment with the Solar 42. An excellent synth for those eternal drones of despair and was assisted my long time colleague Russ Russell. As I journey ever onward in through my individuation it's imperative that I own my own darkness... hence the title. We all need to strive for balance and to kindle a light in the darkness of being" (SE).

T.A.G.C. - 'Iso-Erotic Calibration'
CD £11.50 | LP Black £21 | LP Brown £23 - OUT NOW!

 Soundcloud  Soundcloud  Soundcloud

Carefully constructed aural rituals from T.A.G.C., this album maps new realms in the area of sensual electronic music. Founder Adi Newton (CLOCK DVA) uses The Anti Group as an outlet for his research in psycho-acoustic music.

"Iso-Erotic Calibration" explores the potent topic of human sexuality. Recorded over a period of three years, this could be considered on of their more "accessible" albums.

Originally released in 1994 (Side Effects, the label of Lustmord, Musica Maxima Magnetica, and Adi's own Anterior Research Recordings), we are proud to present the album for the first time on vinyl, as well as the first official CD reissue, fleshed out with four bonus tracks: two were bonus digital-only tracks (2013); one track is taken from the soundtrack to the 2011 T.A.G.C. film 'Given'; one is a remix of the title track.

The Anti Group Communications (T.A.G.C.) was devised by Adi Newton and Steven James Turner as early as 1978 as a multi-dimensional research & development project. TAGC are not affiliated to any one system of philosophy or epistemological paradigm or occult fraternity but are open more to individual systems and innovative thinkers. Science, Art, Music Sonology, Literature, Research & Publication are its main areas.

The artwork is filled with text and illustrations supporting the different songs.

A classic compilation that emanated out of Osaka, "Noise Forest" brings together a powerhouse of early 90's Japanese noise stalwarts: MERZBOW, C.C.C.C., SOLMANIA, DISLOCATION, MONDE BRUITS, MASONNA, VIOLENT ONSEN GEISHA, and INCAPACITANTS.

The ultimate Japanoise collection, originally released in 1992 on the cult Les Disques Du Soleil label / record store on CD-only, and now impossible to find. Remastered and presented here on deluxe 2LP in matt-laminate gatefold sleeve (first time on vinyl) and new CD edition, all with new artwork.

Despite all tracks falling into the Japanoise genre, they are very diverse - yet every track is so distinct it could only be by that artist.

We proudly present the first ever release of PITCHSHIFTER's legendary BBC sessions for the late, great John Peel.

These ultra heavy industrial metal tracks were recorded over two sessions at the iconic Maida Vale studios: 28th April 1991 and 30th March 1993 and were sourced directly from the BBC Archives (with thanks), with careful remastering for CD and vinyl. The sessions were recorded during the same period as "Industrial" (Deaf Records / Peaceville), the massive EP "Submit" EP, and "Desensitized" (Earache).

Founded in 1989, PITCHSHIFTER's early style was heavy industrial metal, often cited as one of the originators of the genre along with Godflesh - a style which they termed "Death Industrial". These sessions and albums mark the end of that classic period, before a shift towards the more commercial, beat-driven Industrial they are still known for.

The debut album from Bestia Astrum (aka Abby Helasdottir / GYDJA) is a grim exploration of Fury 161, the prison planet from Alien³.

An industrial ambient travelogue of the spaces in the planet's dark and rusty facility, beginning on a wind-swept shore and ending in the eternal repose of stony sleep.

More than just an alternate soundtrack to a film, "Fury 161" takes cues from the long and troubled production of Alien³, incorporating themes from earlier concepts proposed during its development hell, including the treatment created by Vincent Ward, who imagined the movie's location as a wooden planet that was home to an order of space monks.

Motifs of eremitic religiosity permeate the album, as well as themes of Yeatsian apocalypticism, abject anatomy, and the intersection between the sacred and the profane, betwixt the beautiful and the grotesque.

NEW MAILORDER IMPORTS
BArAkA[H] (TROUM) - 'Illuminescence (Extended)' LP CLEAR (La Faculté) - £23

This is the first solo LP by BArAkA[H] (Stefan Knappe) - one half of drone maestros Troum, one third of Maeror Tri, and label boss of the legendary Drone Records. Beautifully droning and melodic tracks, created with acoustic and electric guitars, field recordings, and gusli, "lluminescence" features miniatures of the eternal yearning and shimmering nostalgia. "[These songs] express my deepest feelings, a yearning for something that is absolutely not 'visible' or tangible. I don't know what it is, but there must be something hidden in the air, in the sounds, in the sensations". This is the extended version of a CD-EP released by Taalem (2021, Ltd 100), and includes the two tracks which came on the ultra limited edition with lathe-cut 7" (Ltd 50), plus two new bonus tracks finished 2024 (now 8 tracks in total). Mastered by Aidan Baker (Nadja). "Simply closing your eyes to this music is enough to open up parallel, serene, swirling, intriguing worlds of synesthesia...". Ltd x 280 copies on ultra clear vinyl with cover design by HITOSHI KOJO.
CONTORTUS - 'The Worst Is Yet To Come' CD (Freak Animal) - £11.50

The brand album of Contortus comes quick after their previous album for Freak Animal ("The Truth Is An Incurable Wound", 2023), but it is a masterpiece of heavy electronics / industrial / experimental brutality. The Finnish duo of Vesa-Antti Puumalainen & Pete Härmä return to the finest Finnish caveman power electronics / industrial noise. Each song presents a different soundscape of heavy synthesizers, physical sounds, aggressive vocals, and rhythmic patterns. Among contemporary power electronics, Contortus stands out with their talented craftsmanship and compositions. It is sheer vulgar violence, yet with a high dose of artistic merit. 6-panel digipak with NSFW art.
COPPICE / INGEOS ~ TOY.BIZARRE - 'Stratégies Obliques II' LP WHITE (Ferns Recordings) - £23

The first side of this split features Coppice - the Chicago-based duo Joseph Kramer and Noé Cuéllar. Their track was produced in response to Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt's "Oblique Strategies", a deck of cards designed to inform a creative process... "to sober and quiet the mind, thus rendering it susceptible to divine influences". The composition is heard through Aircraft Halation, an arrangement of phantom musical glasses in a dual induction of 432 and 440 Hz tunings, with sine wave frequencies faded in and out of different speaker positions. "The music has an old-school electronic music feeling, with some excellent dynamic approaches. A fantastic piece of music" (FdW). On the flip side, Ingeos ~ Toy.Bizarre (aka Cédric Peyronnet) presents a continuous collage. "...processing objects, banging them around and feeding them through his favourite tools for sound processing... The music indeed has that old musique concrete approach [with] the original roughness of the acoustic objects is a recurring element in the music, sitting along their processed parts all along. Peyronnet's music maintains a beautiful, playful character" (FdW, Vital Weekly). Ltd x 200 copies on white vinyl.
CORONA BARATHRI / AKHTYA - 'Arimanius Ignis Ater' CD (Zazen Sounds) - £12

This ritualistic opus is the union of Corona Bararthri (Ilya Za'am and Alexandra Fauho) with the dark energies of occultist Akhtya (aka Michael Ford of Black Funeral / Valefor / Darkness Enshroud / Psychonaut), offering an ideal listening for higher and deep Ritual purposes. These sonic rituals are dedicated to the Avestan sinister aspects and ancient Persian demonology. An exaltation of Ahriman by ritual invocations as a method of entry into the Imaginal world. Each recording is a deeper call into the depths of Duzakh (Zoroastrian hell) with the liminal abyss culminating in Anastih, a Pahlavi (Avestan) word translating "discord", "enmity", and essentially "Chaos" by the powers inherently worshipped as energy manifest as Daevas. Composed and arranged in ritualistic and meditative sessions to conceptualise a journey by sound and the imagination. Gatefold digisleeve. Already sold out from the label!
DEAD BODY LOVE - 'Crossfire' CD (Audio Dissection / Industrial Recollections / Freak Animal) - £11.50

CD reissue of a mid-90's Italian harsh noise tape, originally released on Nail Records (Ltd x 90 copies, 1998). Dead Body Love is Gabriele Giuliani (Discordance, Drift, Oleoresin Capsicum). "A violent wave of sweeping harsh electronics and less of a textural and crunchy bludgeoning than "Repugnance". The frequencies on this one are more of a high to mid-range... However, there is a crunchy underbelly to these tracks, but it's not always the main focus like on other releases. Track 2 has a more choked-out and grimy crunch. Crossfire hits hard and fast" (F. Masonanie). Digipak.
DEAD BODY LOVE - 'Repugnance' CD (Audio Dissection / Industrial Recollections / Freak Animal) - £11.50

CD reissue of a mid-90's Italian harsh noise tape, originally released on Bloodlust! (Ltd x 100 copies, 1997). Dead Body Love is Gabriele Giuliani (Discordance, Drift, Oleoresin Capsicum). "Right off the bat this starts with a serious textural crunch. Heavy mid-range with a low end with a noticeable use of loops. Reminds me of 'Emetic' which came out the same year, the same style and execution. The second track still plays with texture but has more dynamics and variety in volume. The rest of the album continues to be crushing and does not disappoint. The mastering on this one is well done and at times can contend with the crunchiest of DBL releases" (F. Masonanie). Digipak.
DEAD MAN'S HILL - 'Born From The Black Cauldron' CD (Zazen Sounds) - £12

Ritual, cinematic Dark Ambient recommended for fans of Cities Last Broadcast and Kammarheit. This new album from Dead Man's Hill is a soundtrack that symbolises liberation from the clean and protected society, and represents a renewal of an ancient connection to the dark and uncontrolled Nature, with an emphasis on the element Fire of Earth. This results in trance-evoking tribal rhythms, haunting whispered chants and some very wild flute playing, all carried by dark experimental electronic soundscapes. This new work may be seen as an invitation to elegantly surrender yourself to the Call of the Wild. Dead Man's Hill is Bart Piette (NDE, Alle Sagen Ja). Gatefold digisleeve. Already sold out from the label!
DECONDITION - 'Like A Mirage Or A Dream' CD (Freak Animal) - £11.50

The new Decondition album is totally unlike former CD on Freak Animal ("Not Even The Universe Remains", 2022), which explored icy cold drone sounds. "Like A Mirage Or A Dream" is an innovative-sounding heavy electronics style album. For reference, it leans towards of acts like Human Larvae, Contortus, or Vigilantism, yet Decondition has its own character and experimental electronic approach. First appearing on the scene in 2006 with their debut on Freak Animal, the band have deliberately remained low profile, with just a handful of self-released digital-only titles and a CD for Force Majeur a decade ago. This new full length CD sets a new standard for what Decondition is about! Digipak.
H.Ö.H. - 'Epäjohdonmukainen' CD (Freak Animal) - £11.50

H.Ö.H. has made its name in presenting some of the most primitive, hand made and strange noise. The new album "Epäjohdonmukainen" is perhaps taking the project to an even more challenging form. The familiar broken sounds take the form of short bursting lofi eruptions. H.Ö.H. works purely with analogue production, including the analogue master tape for this album. The recordings that didn't touch a computer before being digitised for CD. To preserve the spirit of the material, nothing has been compressed or cleaned up. The utterly decayed and charming sound is perfectly visualised in the equally crude design of the 6-panel digipak cover by Manuel Pereira.
KIYOSHI MIZUTANI - 'Actual Infinity / 2 Variations' CD (Ferns Recordings) - £11.50

Now a cult collector's piece of Japanese experimental noise by the early member of Merzbow, "Actual Infinity / 2 Variations" was originally released in 1990 on a limited cassette on Kiyoshi's own label Ulcer House. Intermittent solid Japanoise with elegant synths floating in the background, creating a mysterious ambience. This 42-minute set now gets a long-overdue CD reissue. Kiyoshi Mizutani was a member of Merzbow from the 80's, and participated in many masterpieces including the project SCUM with Masami Akita (a project creating new releases out of previous Merzbow recordings through the use of cut-ups, effects and mixing), before going on to his solo career in 1989. Ltd x 150 copies in a gatefold digisleeve with new scratch art by Monji Yaginuma.
KIYOSHI MIZUTANI - 'Cemetery' LP (Ferns Recordings) - £23

Reissue of an insanely hard-to-find Japanese experimental noise tape by the early member of Merzbow. The original self-produced cassette, "Cemetery 1-3", released by Kiyoshi's own Ulcer House in 1991, has been reissued for the first time in LP format with the added bonus track 'Bird'. It is a masterpiece that uses a lot of field recordings and object sounds, as well as simple radio collages, creating a rolling sound arrangement. The artwork is by Monji Yaginum, and differs from the original. Ltd x 150 copies. Sold out from the label - act fast!

A 40 minute album consisting of a large variety of material... from gloomy brooding heavy electronics to rusty and dark rhythmic metal percussion industrial, and epic atmospheric tracks. BASTARD NOISE - 'Bastard Noise Hails The Finnish Sound Masters / The Symptoms Of A Failing Equilibrium' CD (Freak Animal) - £11.50

Early Man Is The Bastard / Bastard Noise was well known for his passion and support of Finnish noise. Before anyone acknowledged the new era of the Finnish noise scene emerging in the 90's, USA's MITB/Bastard Noise support for the artists was crucial to introduce the names to global audience. One of the most remarkable collaborations of BN & Finnish noise art was the 1999 CD album "Bastard Noise Hails The Finnish Sound Masters / The Symptoms Of A Failing Equilibrium" (Freak Animal). In 2021, this album being over two decades old, still sounds fresh and interesting. High pitched doomdays electronic machines of Bastard Noise are combined with raw sounds submitted by Grunt, Bizarre Uproar, Skin-Graft, Woundead, Order., Junkdrome, and All-Out. Each artist submitted a different type of material to work with, yet it sounds like proper album rather than fragmented compilation. Reissued without remastering or editing and presented in a digipak using the original cover designs.

NOCTURNAL EMISSIONS - 'Stoneface' LP CLEAR (Ferns Recordings) - £20

Accumulated and assembled in the Derbyshire Dales (notably the wondrous Lud's Church and Grey Ladies stone circle), and the Caroline K Studios in 1988, Nocturnal Emissions' album "Stoneface" is dedicated to the Active Listener. Originally released in 1989 (Staalplaat / Parade Amoureuse), "Stoneface operates on many levels, a set of gruelling, scraping, yet strangely attractive organic sounds that reveal numerously coloured layers with successive listens... these sonic morsels play with near-baroque tendencies, devolved factory rhythms, spiritual solemnity and lucid minimalism, sometimes gripping, sometimes forgettable, but never uninvolving... it's best to observe Stoneface's sacred experiments in one complete sitting, where Ayers can effectively work his art on you with your complete, undivided and willing immersion" (Darren Bergstein). Ltd x 300 copies on clear vinyl.
RICHARD RAMIREZ / GRUNT - 'Modern Beliefs' CD (Freak Animal) - £11.50

Originally issued on limited LP by Freak Animal (just 100 copies), this rare 1997 vinyl release is reissued onto CD for the first time. The extended edition release contains an additional 10 minutes of unheard Richard Ramirez (Black Leather Jesus, Werewolf Jerusalem) material which did not fit onto the original LP, plus the collaborative tracks with Grunt are also slightly longer. The artwork, sound and spirit remains faithful to the original LP, even if the CD format allowed for the additional material / length for a new 52-minute duration! Digipak.

BASS COMMUNION - 'The Itself Of Itself' 2 x LP (Lumberton Trading Company) - £34

Deluxe vinyl reissue of 2024's "The Itself Of Itself" - Bass Communion's first album for 12 years. Long established as a purveyor of mostly atmospheric or ambient textures, the seven cuts here take detours from this approach in order to draw as much from musique concrete, noise music, abstract electronics and uneasy listening. Whilst still rippled with the same shades of light and dark that can be found throughout all of Steven Wilson's (Porcupine Tree) work, "The Itself Of Itself" reveals a fascination with analogue sounds and artefacts like tape hiss, wow and flutter, static noise, and sonic break-up, taking the music into a space at once different yet familiar. A dynamic listening experience where unease, dread and comparatively claustrophobic torrents of sound make (un)natural bedfellows to moments of enchantment and serenity. "The Itself Of Itself" sees Bass Communion cutting his teeth on an album that's at once cinematic and moody whilst proving him to be a master in electronic music craftsmanship, spreading its weather-beaten wings to embrace new strategies and a strong desire to journey elsewhere. Ltd x 1000 copies with obi strip in a wonderful Carl Glover designed deluxe gatefold sleeve and 24pp booklet of his photographs. VERY FEW IN STOCK - ACT FAST!
BILL LASWELL & PETE NAMLOOK - 'Psychonavigation' 5 x CD Boxset (Infinite Fog Productions) - £50

The long-awaited reissue of the legendary "Psychonavigation" series! From 1994 to 2002, the brilliant producers Bill Laswell and Pete Namlook released a series of five works under the title Psychonavigation - a rare gem for fans of heavy ambient collaboration. Masterfully playing with genres and refusing to be confined by any boundaries, they were mutually in awe of each other's talents and delivered numerous significant projects, including the iconic "Outland" (deluxe 6CD boxset, Cold Spring 2023), "The Dark Side Of The Moog", and of course, "Psychonavigation". This stunning palette of musical styles ranges from Space, Dark, and Drone Ambient to Electro and cosmic Downtempo, through dense layers of Dub to almost industrial, mechanical techno spaces. These five albums are like personal spacecraft traveling at faster-than-light speeds, carrying five keys to eternity and infinity. The reissue anthology comes in a 5CD boxset, with each disc housed in its own envelope, featuring a brand-new design and a complete set of audio materials. The package also includes an exclusive poster with an essay about the project, written by Bill Laswell in Winter 2024. 30 years after the release of the first part of "Psychonavigation", the complete anthology is now available in one essential boxset.
MUSLIMGAUZE - 'Citadel' 2 x LP (Other Voices Records) - £25

Originally released by the revered Australian label Extreme, this is the first ever reissue since its original CD-only press in 1994. "Citadel" is an album of exotic Arabic textures where traditional instruments intermesh with technology, found sounds and voices meld with drones and synthesizers. The album uses both eastern and western rhythmic patterns embedded in layers of shifting soundscapes: incessant tablas piercing through swirling cymbals, haunting, machine-gun rhythms, traditional strings, the interplay of rhythm and voice, and mesmerizing chants. "Muslimgauze produce a raga music for the technological post-cyber age. Shifting cultures out of ancient history into the current day, transcending those traditional forms. "Citadel" has a voice of what is now and perhaps what is to come. In these troubled political times, peace through people being unified in harmony whilst maintaining their own strength and cultural identity is a vision to strive towards" (Extreme). The original tracks were perfectly remastered (receiving high praise from the Extreme Music owner Roger Richards). Double LP in deluxe extra heavy cardboard with spot UV finish and inside print, with new sleeve design were created by Oleg Galay. **SLIGHT DAMAGE!** Please note that all copies arrived to us with 1-2" spine splits, hence the reduced price. Still sealed.
DEAD VOICES ON AIR: DADU - 'TUTU' 2 x CD + Original Artwork (Ultra-Mail Prods) - £23

Dead Voices On Air (DVOA) is Mark Spybey's main musical project, formed in 1992 when he emigrated to Canada from his native England, though he is also known as a member of Reformed Faction, Beehatch and (ex):zoviet*france:. A master class in shifting soundscapes, Dadu features Martin Harvey, Stephen Weatherall and Gary Widdowfield, all of whom were active in the Teesside music scene in the '80s. The album veers from frenzied post-punk pop to dark ambient: imagine This Heat meets James Brown in a cement mixer. Real music, made with real instruments, composed largely spontaneously and refined through studio editing. "Tutu" marries the dark ambience of Dead Voices On Air with the powerful, frenetic and, at times, equally joyful and harrowing sounds of Dadu. It features a collaboration with The Commoners Choir from Leeds, conducted by Hoff Whalley of Chumbawamba. It's a tangled, wriggling, sometimes confrontational puzzlebox of sounds and ideas, enhanced by a sumptuously designed sleeve package: a matt-laminate mini-LP sleeve, containing each CD in it's own sleeve, 6 different artcards, plus an original, individual handmade signed and numbered artwork by DVOA. Ltd x 110 copies only and very few in stock!
WILT - 'Mold The Earth' CD (Fusion Audio Recordings) - £12

Scarecrow electronics wizard WILT (James P. Keeler) presents his "lost" 2001 earth sounds opus "Mold The Earth". This was an album planned for release in the wake of early Wilt classics "Amidst A Spacious Fabric" and "Wither" but was shelved and nearly lost forever when the record label went on an unexpected and decades-long dormancy. The master was found in 2022 and returned to the artist, who put it out digitally as part of a commemoration of 25 years of Wilt. Now, "Mold The Earth" is finally released in the physical format it deserves! The visuals by Keeler have been updated from the cover design that never saw the light of day, but the sounds remain true to the original concept. Crafted from field recordings and elements including wood, rock, dirt, metal and water with additional sounds provided by Steve Brand (ex-Augur), J. Benham and Jeph Jerman (Hands To), "Mold The Earth" is a mix of haunting ambience and natural textures. 6-panel digipak. Comes with a WILT sticker!
SMELL & QUIM - 'Spacesh*t' CD (Cheeses International) - £11

Originally released as a CDR in 2000 (Mental Guru), this is the first CD-proper edition of this album from Leeds absurdist-noisers Smell & Quim. "Spacesh*t" was originally conceived as the millennial year of 2000 was approaching. At the time, Smell & Quim was a multi-limbed flailing collective animal with many members, under the leadership and guidance of S&Q founder Milovan Srdenovic. These members included the technical recording Wizzardess Holly Hero, Candy Nook, Expose Your Eyes, Sam (drums), Mark, Pig, the late Diz Willis, the late San DK, the late Simon Morris (Ceramic Hobs), Carol, Paul Holmes, Shack, and Chad. The author Stewart Home also provided clips of his prank phone-calls to prostitutes. The idea was to create an hour-long stream of sound and music designed to both entertain and confound the occupants of any alien craft that might tune-in whilst passing in earshot of Planet Earth audio emanations. Much of it was recording during real-time social interaction. Despite a dizzying array of lewd / smutty / violent track titles, the CD plays as one continuous track (52 minutes and 57 seconds long). Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak with artwork by FAO (Fan Assisted Oven).

DAVID JACKMAN - 'Schining' 2 x CD (Die Stadt) - £15

The next in Die Stadt's David Jackman / Organum series, continuing his pursuit of the monolithic shifting structure. Beginning with similar sounds to "Flames Of Fire" - a metallic buzz and deep, resonating tone - Jackman shifts the pitch more with sharper buzzing and a greater use of gongs and bells. A shimmering mix, with the first half much heavier. On the second CD he opens the sound up more, with the dynamics giving an almost buoyant quality to the music. Leading off with the crashing gong, it's soon stripped back allowing a sustained, wavering tone to be in the forefront. The sound resembles what could be an organ but held for infinity. Just as it becomes mesmerising and hypnotic though, Jackman throws in the bells, with variations coming in rapid succession versus the otherwise slow and steady feel. Ltd x 500 copies in a digisleeve with excellent artwork by Jonathan Coleclough.
VOMIR & ANLA COURTIS - 'Sin Comentarios' LP (L'eau Des Fleurs) - £22

A collaborative album from Argentinian experimental musician Anla Courtis (Reynols, Origami Republika) and French harsh Noise artist Vomir (Romain Perrot). The dense HNW blocks of sound do not dominate or overpower the more dynamic guitar excursions of Courtis, but instead there is a good balance of the elements, making room for both artists to shine. The first side-long piece is a full-on ferocious hailstorm of electronic shards, like a thousand pieces of scrap metal disappearing into a prehistoric black hole. Midway through piece a metallic drone appears and slowly takes over the music. This leads us into the second side-long part, which feels like the grinding cosmos of part one twisted inside out, like an alternate reality, all elements in an inverted state of weightlessness. It's more open; the elements more clearly defined, there's a different sense of both space and pace, but the piece is no less intense. Towards the end the music slowly builds down, almost like a sonic origami that folds itself into nothing. Ltd x 150 copies.
PAUL SCHÜTZE - 'Topology of a Quantum City' CD (Auf Abwegen) - £12

"Topology Of A Quantum City" was created using the original DATs from a 1992 session for Paul Schütze's album "New Maps Of Hell". He rebuilt the central piece from that album from its original component parts / rhythm track, sending that "spine" to the various contributing players (Daniel Pennie, Dirk Wachtelaer, Bill Macdonald, and Philip Brophy) and then performed a kind of surgery with the added drums, bass, guitar and trombone. New tonalities and unexpected harmonic light and shade, with a radical rethinking of the rhythm blew the structure open, inviting multiple levels of dynamic detail. The two additional pieces have a newer origin; one with drum parts as the starting impetus around which was constructed a kind of melodic breath, laying multiple guitar lines into counterpoint; the second by atomising and refracting familiar gestures over a rolling machine rhythm. They feel like a temporal cross pollination to those familiar with their roots and perhaps a lure into a period of unheard riches to those who are yet to have that pleasure. Digisleeve.
LEDA - 'Neuter' LP (Discreet Music) - £22

Leda - aka Sofie Herner (Enhet För Fri Musik, Neutral, both of which are projects with Dan Johansson of Sewer Election) - returns with "Neuter", her first album proper since "Gitarrmusik III-X" (2017). "Neuter" was recorded 2018-2021 and is the culmination of the very distinctive and unmistakable sound Sofie has developed and refined during close to 10 years now. The music of Leda is based on primitive guitar loops of various lengths, loops that intervene and create peculiar rhythms and subtle harmonies; slow-burning proto-industrial basement buzz with occasional vocals buried in the mix. The connection to the sullen soundscapes of Neutral is of course there, but the skeletal, monotonous compositions and austere nature of things sets this apart. More Malmö than Gothenburg, "Neuter" is the pinnacle of Herner's body of solo work. Ltd x 750 copies with full colour printed inside.
DEATH APPEAL - 'Precipice' Cassette (Headsplit Records) - £9

Morbid, end-times worship from Melbourne, Australia. This debut release from Death Appeal offers five tracks of death Industrial in the style of early-mid '90s Brighter Death Now, Megaptera, and Anenzephalia. Programme repeats. Pro-duplicated tape in a white cassette shell.
GRYMMSTALT - 'Mondschatten' CD (Zazen Sounds) - £12

Hailing from Chile, Grymmstalt present primæval 90's style raw Black Metal with a Religious Occult Philosophy. The magical and intrinsic gesture of wild landscapes decorated with frozen dresses, eternally perpetuated in the memory of the southern return. Since the release of the debut with "Anthems Of Mournful Despondency" (Signal Rex, 2022), this intricate musical work orchestrated under the southern parameters of the acclaimed "Southern Temple & Monvmenta Valdiviensae" is crowned as a revival towards the sounds crystallized by winter landscapes, the stoic memory of the ancestors and the first men who walked on tears hardened by eons, those floating mirrors that reflect the winter anniversaries on ice tombs. "Mondschatten" will briefly cover an odyssey between the dimensional aspects of the south and the majesty wrapped by the mysticism inherited from times past, thus closing a premature stage of musicality with this project composed of southern heritage. Limited edition in digisleeve. Already sold out from the label!

VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Prophecy + Progress: UK Electronics 1978-1990 Volumes I + II' 2 x CD (Peripheral Minimal) - £18

Following on from 2018's V/A "Prophecy + Progress: UK Electronics 1978-1990" LP, this double CD contains all the original tracks from Volume I and a further 13-tracks for Volume II. Both discs also contain a bonus track. This compilation represents the burgeoning Electronic music scene in the UK. An eclectic mix of acts that were experimenting with newly available technology during the years 1978-1990. Although electronic experimentation had been explored in the decades before, a myriad of experimenters were recording 'alien, eerie, sterile, austere and vaguely menacing' music in Industrial cities like Sheffield or post-war London. The antidote to the Thatcher government at the time seemed to be a quiet rebellion in the shape of dark and alienating soundscapes by acts that are now considered pioneers, or have achieved cult status. It's an attempt to rekindle those heady days of experimentation and to encourage new generations to rebel and forgo the fashionable posturing that comes with anything vaguely 'interesting'. CD1 features: Clock DVA, Vice Versa (pre-ABC), Colin Potter (Nurse With Wound, Monos), Konstruktivists, Naked Lunch, Five Times Of Dust, Schleimer K, V-Sor X, Attrition, Peter Hope + David Harrow, John Costello (Engram), T.A.G.C., John Avery (Hula), plus Peter Hope & Russ Deluxe. CD2 features: The Future (Adi Newton of Clock DVA / The Anti Group, Ian Craig Marsh, and Martyn Ware of The Human League / Heaven 17, B.E.F.), Neu Electrikk, Colin Potter + Steve Parry, Eric Random, Illustration, Final Program, Ian Boddy (ARC), Malcolm Brown, Stress, Red Fetish, UVPØP, Hula, Bourbonese Qualk, and Steve Parry. Ltd x 500 copies in a 6-panel double digipak with 8-page photographic booklet of UK Brutalist buildings.
