NEW COLD SPRING RELEASES 2024 / 2025 |
T.A.G.C. - Iso-Erotic Calibration
CD £9.50 Adv | LP Black £19 Adv | LP Brown £21 Adv - OUT 17th JAN!

Carefully constructed aural rituals from T.A.G.C., this album maps new realms in the area of sensual electronic music. Founder Adi Newton (CLOCK DVA) uses The Anti Group as an outlet for his research in psycho-acoustic music.
"Iso-Erotic Calibration" explores the potent topic of human sexuality. Recorded over a period of three years, this could be considered on of their more "accessible" albums.
Originally released in 1994 (Side Effects, the label of Lustmord, Musica Maxima Magnetica, and Adi's own Anterior Research Recordings), we are proud to present the album for the first time on vinyl, as well as the first official CD reissue, fleshed out with four bonus tracks: two were bonus digital-only tracks (2013); one track is taken from the soundtrack to the 2011 T.A.G.C. film 'Given'; one is a remix of the title track.
The Anti Group Communications (T.A.G.C.) was devised by Adi Newton and Steven James Turner as early as 1978 as a multi-dimensional research & development project. TAGC are not affiliated to any one system of philosophy or epistemological paradigm or occult fraternity but are open more to individual systems and innovative thinkers. Science, Art, Music Sonology, Literature, Research & Publication are its main areas.
The artwork is filled with text and illustrations supporting the different songs.

VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Noise Forest'
CD £9.50 Adv. | 2LP Black £26 | 2LP Forest Green £28 - VINYL OUT NOW / CD SHIPPING 27-30 DEC

A classic compilation that emanated out of Osaka, "Noise Forest" brings together a powerhouse of early 90's Japanese noise stalwarts: MERZBOW, C.C.C.C., SOLMANIA, DISLOCATION, MONDE BRUITS, MASONNA, VIOLENT ONSEN GEISHA, and INCAPACITANTS.
The ultimate Japanoise collection, originally released in 1992 on the cult Les Disques Du Soleil label / record store on CD-only, and now impossible to find. Remastered and presented here on deluxe 2LP in matt-laminate gatefold sleeve (first time on vinyl) and new CD edition, all with new artwork.
A forest isn't something normally associated with noise; it brings to mind silence and solitude. However, the ominous cover art here - and the artists within - bring to mind the notorious suicide forest Aokigahara. Despite all tracks falling into the Japanoise genre, the tracks are very diverse, yet every track is so distinct it could only be by that artist.
"One of the most unique and stand-out noise comps of the 90's".
For mini-reviews of each track, please visit the release pages, or listen to Noisextra's 'Noise Forest' special!

PITCHSHIFTER - Peel Sessions 1991-93
CD £10 Adv | LP Black £22 | LP White £25 - VINYL OUT NOW / CD SHIPPING 27-30 DEC

We proudly present the first ever release of PITCHSHIFTER's legendary BBC sessions for the late, great John Peel.
These ultra heavy industrial metal tracks were recorded over two sessions at the iconic Maida Vale studios: 28th April 1991 and 30th March 1993 and were sourced directly from the BBC Archives (with thanks), with careful remastering for CD and vinyl.
The 1991 session was recorded during the same period as "Industrial" (Deaf Records / Peaceville), with the 1993 session recorded around the time of "Desensitized" (Earache), with the massive EP "Submit" in between.
PREMIERE AT CVLT NATION
"If you look on your PITCHSHIFTER albums you will see that we always credit John Peel. He was instrumental in getting the band out there and often played our music on the radio when no one else dared. The 'Peel Sessions' we did were a great honour and every time I met John he was always such a great guy... a legend" (JS).
Founded in Nottingham in 1989, PITCHSHIFTER's early style was heavy industrial metal, being cited as one of the originators of the genre along with Godflesh - a style which they termed "Death Industrial". These sessions and albums mark the end of that classic period, before a shift towards the more commercial, beat-driven Industrial style from the mid-90's onward that they are still known for.

BESTIA ASTRUM - 'Fury 161'
CD £10 Adv (£12 after) - CD SHIPPING 27-30 DEC

The debut album from Bestia Astrum (aka Abby Helasdottir / GYDJA) is a grim exploration of Fury 161, the prison planet from Alien³.
An industrial ambient travelogue of the spaces in the planet's dark and rusty facility, beginning on a wind-swept shore and ending in the eternal repose of stony sleep.
More than just an alternate soundtrack to a film, "Fury 161" takes cues from the long and troubled production of Alien³, incorporating themes from earlier concepts proposed during its development hell, including the treatment created by Vincent Ward, who imagined the movie's location as a wooden planet that was home to an order of space monks.
Motifs of eremitic religiosity permeate the album, as well as themes of Yeatsian apocalypticism, abject anatomy, and the intersection between the sacred and the profane, betwixt the beautiful and the grotesque.
• CD in full colour matt-laminate digipak with gold spot colour, accompanied by a 16-page booklet with an essay by Abby Helasdottir. |
THE SEA OF WIRES - 'The Sea Of Wires'
2CD £11.50 Adv (£13.50 after) - 2CD SHIPPING 27-30 DEC

The Sea Of Wires were a very early '80s electronic duo hailing from the industrial wastelands of Coventry.
Followers of the German Electronic Scene of the time (Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra Tempel, Popol Vuh, Cluster etc), Chris Jones and Tony Murphy used elements of Kosmische Musik in their compositions, with a variety of warm synths, analogue effects, and layered experimentation.
This double-CD collects cassettes which appeared on their own Sea Of Wires label: "Individually Screened" (1980, then 1981 on the famous Flowmotion label); Chris Jones' "Diversions" (1981, featuring Murphy on synth); and "Beyond The Edge Of Tomorrow" (1982), representing the absolute peak of their sound.
These tracks appeared as a double LP on the illustrious Vinyl-on-Demand label back in 2014 as part of the massive 12LP boxset "80's Minimal Synth. Wave Vol.2", but are presented here on CD for the first time ever.
"A bubbly electronic miesterwerk from the electronic Dark Ages, those very early 1980s, just as synths started to get smaller and more affordable... They mostly relied on beat-free sequencer pulses with something of a Kraut influence, plus the occasional nod to the past glories of the Radiophonic Workshop... Full of classic warm synth settings, not unlike a solid state volcanic mud pool, pumping out bubbles of sweet sounding ear gases through the smooth hot mud" (Die Or DIY).
FFO early Human League, Vice Versa, We Be Echo, Tangerine Dream.

KHOST - Many Things Afflict Us Few Things Console Us
CD £11.50 | LP Black £20 | LP Red £23 - OUT NOW!

The 5th album from Birmingham-based industrial/doom metal band Khost sees the band forging new and at times nightmarish territories, alongside their signature walls of detuned guitar, corroded percussion and VHS atmospherics.
Inspiration for many of the tracks came from countless live shows and even soundcheck experiments in which extreme, harsh electronics evolved, as did punk/early industrial tempos, all of which were then fused into the DNA of "Many Things Afflict Us Few Things Console Us".
Khost remark: "We hoped that the experience would be something like venturing into an off-limits wing of some gallery after-hours, with each turn more disorientating than where you just were".
Collaborators include AXEBREAKER (aka Terence Hannum of Locrian), acclaimed cellist JO QUAIL, and Berlin-based sound designer MANUEL LIEBESKIND.
The CD and the vinyl are different beasts. The CD is reinforced with 7 extra tracks including ADRIAN STAINBURNER's incredible remix of 'Yellow Light' featuring STEPHEN MALLINDER (Cabaret Voltaire, Wrangler) on vocals, and BERENECES adding his signature deep, dark D&B sound to the track 'Death Threat'. The LP editions feature a different mix by Khost especially for vinyl.

Tumble back into the nebulous and murky psychedelic haze of 70's-80's VHS horror!
Explore grimy palimpsests from the film studio to the grindhouse with 400 Lonely Things in "The New Twilight": eleven creepy yet sublime analogue microdoses of vintage genre and exploitation audio sampled and filtered through the darkly ambient, melodically droning, melancholic nerd soul.
Craig Varian has spent a half-century on earth exploring horror and finds a particular sweet spot in the glut of films released in the VHS boom of the 80's.
With the exception of one single track, each song (and song title) is sourced from a single film.
To further this theme, the chronologically ordered booklet uses the same techniques to extract a hazy and dreamlike visual reference from the murky celluloid sources.
Adjacent genres: hauntology • dark ambient • experimental electronics • psychedelic • drone • soundtrack • plunderphonics

40 WATT SUN - 'The Inside Room' CD (Svart Records) - £13.50
The long-awaited reissue of 40 Watt Sun's debut album, "The Inside Room", originally released in 2011 (Cyclone Empire / Metal Blade). Whilst the music on "The Inside Room" was a noticeable development from the heavy doom of Patrick Walker's previous band Warning, there is a recognisable thread connecting the two sonically.
"The Inside Room" features some of what have become the band's most well-known and requested songs, such as 'Restless' and 'Carry Me Home'. Recorded and produced by the band at The Library Studio in London in 2010, the original vinyl edition featured an exclusive bonus track titled 'Take Me In', which was not included on any previous CD versions of the album; both the CD and vinyl editions of this new reissue feature the track.
The cover art for the album is by Matt Mahurin (Tom Waits, Tracy Chapman, The Ramones) who also created the iconic art for Warning's "Watching From A Distance". CD in jewelcase with 8-page lyric booklet. |
40 WATT SUN - 'The Inside Room' 2 x LP (Svart Records) - £26
Double black vinyl edition (second disc is single-sided) of the above release. Comes in a gatefold sleeve with lyric booklet. |
40 WATT SUN - 'Wider Than The Sky' 2 x LP BLACK (Svart Records) - £28
Vinyl reissue of 40 Watt Sun's second album (2016). "Wider Than The Sky" comprises six beautiful songs that speak to the very essence of humanity and delve below the surface of relationships and sadness and loss.
The weight of the album is executed in a different way than it would have been in Patrick Walker's previous band, Warning. Where the electric buzz of the guitar or the crunchiness of the bass created the atmosphere for the seminal doom band, 40 Watt Sun use words and experience to create an aura of loss - yet, there's pale hope etched across the songs. While the words echo with melancholy, the beats holding a little brightness, and resonant guitars spinning walls of sentiment, Walker's voice is lifted from its previous lows to allow subtle moments of optimism to filter through.
"Wider Than The Sky" is an affecting listen; a sparser, stripped back affair compared to "The Inside Room", pushing Patrick's voice to the forefront. His scars are bared for all to hear and to experience, speak to anyone who has suffered heartbreak; a necessary catharsis. A beautiful presentation of honesty, dreams, sadness and passion. Double black vinyl in a gatefold sleeve with 8-page booklet. |
40 WATT SUN - 'Wider Than The Sky' 2 x LP CRYSTAL CLEAR (Svart Records) - £30
Limited 'Crystal Clear' coloured double vinyl edition of the above release. |
ÅKE ANDERSSON & ANTERO HONKANEN - 'Reidarin Sähköiset Kuvat' CD (Svart Records) - £11.50
A wonderful set of dovetailing cosmic pieces by Finnish Experimental electroacoustic artists Åke Andersson and Antero Honkanen, composed to illustrate paintings of Reidar Särestöniemi at the Experimental Studio of Yleisradio. With a production style owing to the formative works made at EMS in Stockholm, this set is rife with ghostly voices and errant, floating, bubbling electronics laid out in song-length pieces, with occasional détournement into "Song Of The Second Moon"-esque melodic figures and rhythmic filigree.
Love Records owner Otto Donner saw the commissioned work by the two electroacoustic musicians, who in their daily life were sound technicians at the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation, and immediately wanted to produce an album of the project. The 1977 album, which has ended up a very costly collector's item, hasn't been reissued in any format until now. Digipak with 12-page booklet. |
BRUCE RUSSELL & THIERRY MONNIER VIA FERMATA ARK - 'Good Friday Plowshares Missile Silo Witness' LP (Shrike Records) - £24
Thierry Monnier (Sun Stabbed/La Morte Young) was a French guitarist with a fascination for New Zealand, its landscape, people, and culture. In February 2020 he recorded a guitar duo session with Bruce Russell (Dead C./A Handful of Dust) in Lyttelton, NZ. He returned to France and sadly later died from a pre-existing illness. Before his death the raw recordings were shared with Harry Smith (Fermata Ark) who added various sonic elements and treatments. A selection of the mixed duo recordings were issued on LP by Thierry's friends in 2023 as Les Francais sont les ennemis du Pacifique, and now the alternative electro-acoustic version is finally seeing release too. Features guests Mark Wastell (Confront, Oceans Of Silver & Blood, Ist, The Sealed Knot) and Dirty Electronics. "Good Friday Plowshares Missile Silo Witness" takes its name from an act of civil disobedience by Plowshares, an anti-nuclear weapons Christian pacifist movement, on Good Friday, April 17, 1992, at the Whiteman Air Force Base, MO. Ltd x 200 hand-numbered copies in a matt-laminate sleeve, with printed inner sleeve and download card. |
DOMINIK SCHERRER & NATASHA KHAN - 'Requiem O.S.T.' LP VIOLET (Svart Records) - £26
The original soundtrack to the Netflix supernatural thriller series Requiem.
Conjured by award-winning composers Dominik Scherrer (The Missing, Ripper Street, Marple), and Natasha Khan of Bat For Lashes, Requiem is a haunting, spine-tingling score; an eerie landscape of sharp, scraping cello, soothing harps and tense string sections.
From the urban uncanny to folk horror, there is a distinct atmosphere in the fresh collaborative dynamic between the British-Swiss decorated grandmaster of unique television series soundtracks Scherrer, and the rising enigma of alt-pop, twice Mercury Music Prize-nominated singer/songwriter Khan. Recorded in Scherrer's Brick Lane studio, the duo recorded outlandish vocals and terrifying sounds, harkening back to the 1970s lo-fi soundtracks from BBC's Radiophonic Workshop or '70s horror soundtracks. With its moody air of retro horror and pastoral spook, the score won the duo an Ivor Novello award for Best TV Soundtrack in 2019. Ltd x 600 copies on violet coloured vinyl in a gatefold sleeve. |
GODWIN POINT (DAWN & DUSK ENTWINED) - 'III' CD (Dark Vinyl) - £12
Formed in 2020, Godwin Point is a side project of Dawn & Dusk Entwined, presenting their darker / nightmarish side.
Godwin Point's 3rd opus once again explores territory where you'd least expect it, keen not to dig the same path. Nevertheless, unexpected but also familiar, continuing their re-reading of the classics of the 1990s, from the sound of CMI to projects like Muslimgauze, with a touch of oriental sounds that smell of desert sand and machine grease. Haunting rhythms, repetitive bass lines, but also beautiful orchestrations and atmospheres that are both powerful and anguishing, forming a soundtrack to themes of geopolitics, domination, manipulation, power and peoples. There's no side-taking here, just a cold, straightforward vision of the way the world works, with all the players back to back, with their traces of blood, soil and oil. Ltd x 400 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve. |
GURU GURU - 'Live In Essen 1970' CD (Svart Records) - £11.50
Stunning quality, rare live performance recordings of German krautrock pioneers Guru Guru, from one of their earliest ever live concerts: Sunday 25th October 1970. These three long slabs of prime classic psychedelic prog, two from the "UFO"' album and one off "Hinten", show the band at their apex, defining a sound that had never been heard before. Sourced from tapes recorded directly from the sound desk at the show, the recording quality is phenomenal for something of this vintage era. The original line-up of Mani Neumeier (drums & vocals), Ax Genrich (guitar), and Uli Trepte (bass & vocals), are present and on full power.
Guru Guru stood for space, the psychedelic experience and electric magic. It stood for energy, imagination and freedom. Turn on, tune in, take off! Presented in a mini-gatefold LP sleeve. |
HEXVESSEL - 'Polar Veil' CD (Svart Records) - £13.50
Hexvessel, the enigmatic Finnish band known for their genre-defying musical conjurations, presents "Polar Veil". Following the unexpected shift in tone from their Psychedelic Folk roots to a more atmospheric Black Metal sound, "Polar Veil" has garnered the quartet a flurry of Album Of The Year credentials as well as Band of The Year in the Finnish Indie Awards.
Hexvessel's sixth album is a mesmerizing journey into the Sub Arctic North, weaving together elements of Black Metal, Ritual Folk Psychedelia, and Doom Rock. Digipak with cover art by Benjamin König and 6-page booklet featuring artwork by Thomas Hooper. |
HEXVESSEL - 'Polar Veil' LP VIOLET (Svart Records) - £26
Second vinyl edition of the above release. Ltd x 200 copies on transparent violet vinyl with a large-scale 12-page booklet featuring artwork by Thomas Hooper. This exclusive edition also has a poster showcasing Benjamin König's stunning, jaw-dropping cover artwork. |
JOHAN SÖDERQVIST - 'Let The Right One In O.S.T.' CD (Svart Records) - £13.50
Let The Right One In (Sweden, 2008) is one of the great cult favorites of the current millennium. The magical tale of childhood and vampirism in the suburbs of Stockholm is scored by the director Thomas Alfredson's fellow countryman, composer Johan Söderqvist. Combining dark orchestral textures with a strikingly melodic beauty, Söderqvist has written a truly unique score for this critically acclaimed Swedish language film. "Writing the music for Let The Right One In gave me a rare opportunity to write a score that consists of both darkness and light. The filmmakers weren't looking for your typical horror soundtrack. The most important quality of the music in this film had to be melody and harmony, so even if the overall tone of the film and the score is dark and atmospheric, there is always a sense of hope and beauty. Let The Right One In is one of the most beautiful films, visually, that I've ever worked on. The director, Tomas Alfredson, is a unique director who has enough confidence to allow his collaborators to explore, experiment and find their own way to contribute something unique to the film. Working with him was a big pleasure, and I hope that you will enjoy listening to this music as much as I did creating it". Digipak. |
JOHAN SÖDERQVIST - 'Let The Right One In O.S.T.' LP (Svart Records) - £24
Limited vinyl edition of the above release. Comes in a gatefold sleeve with the original film poster art adorning the sleeve. The inside of the sleeve is flooded printed and includes a large edition of the film poster itself (folded). |

MAT McNERNEY & KIMMO HELÉN (HEXVESSEL) - 'A Fire in The Cold Season O.S.T.' LP **SIGNED** (Svart Records) - £24
The official soundtrack to rural noir thriller set in Newfoundland, Canada, scored by Mat McNerney and Kimmo Helén of the Finnish folk band Hexvessel.
McNerney (Hexvessel, Beastmilk, Grave Pleasures, Carpenter Brut) and multi-instrumentalist Helén collaborate with director Justin Oakey, marking their first full feature length soundtrack composition; a wild and evocative cross-pollination of Finnish and Newfoundland spirit. A Fire In The Cold Season is reminiscent of Cormac McCarthy's western narratives (No Country for Old Men, The Road, Blood Meridian), with a realistic, heavy paced mood where nothing is certain but the promise of despair in a violent world. The soundtrack is signature ritualistic Hexvessel - straining violins and rustic guitars, but also a new and mature flourish of restraint and minimalist beauty where disparate piano and solemn voices echo through the wilderness.
Inspired by Newfoundland folk music, Philipp Glass, Shigeru Umebayashi and Ryuichi Sakamoto, A Fire In The Cold Season is an elegant, romantic and suspenseful score which is as much a homage to the harsh and stunning nature witnessed in Oakey's visual landscape as Hexvessel's inherent nature mystic themes. A journey from shamanic transcendence to heart-aching romantic mountain melancholy, McNerney and Helén creep out from outsider fringes of their humble underground origins to show their looming talents for commanding a vastly evocative and haunting cinematic story.
Ltd x 250 signed copies in a gatefold sleeve. |
MICHAEL CASHMORE - 'The Snow Abides Completely' 2 x LP BLACK (Svart Records) - £33
Michael Cashmore - of NATURE AND ORGANISATION, and the main guitarist and composer for CURRENT 93 from 1990 until around 2006 - presents the first vinyl edition of his 2007 solo offering "The Snow Abides" with vocals by ANOHNI (Antony And The Johhnsons), BILL FAY and DAVID TIBET (Current 93). "The Snow Abides Completely" comprises all of the recordings made between 1999-2001 from the original The Snow Abides sessions in their entire form (an edited edition was issued by Durtro Jnana in 2007). Now finally released with 12 tracks in total (of which 5 are previously unreleased), featuring vocals by David Tibet and lyrics and music by Michael Cashmore, this is an essential album for any Current 93 fan. "When I wrote these musical pieces and texts I was suffering from a deep depression. I was also extremely shy and had such bad self-confidence that I was simply embarrassed by my texts - so much so that I was unable to release them. It is only now around seven years later of personal transformation through divine love and positivity that I no longer have such problems and I am now finally able to release them here" (Michael Cashmore, 2024). Limited edition double vinyl in a high-gloss sleeve with each vinyl in its own printed sleeve. |
MICHAEL CASHMORE - 'The Snow Abides Completely' 2 x LP RED & LIME (Svart Records) - £34
Limited transparent red & transparent lime vinyl edition of the above release. Comes in a high-gloss sleeve with each vinyl in its own printed sleeve. |
PESSI LEVANTO - 'The Innocents O.S.T.' LP (Svart Records) - £23
Pessi Levanto's score to the magical Norwegian chiller The Innocent, which premiered at the Cannes Festival. Spending idle summer days in an Oslo suburb, a group of small children find their hidden powers and play turns into a life-or-death struggle. Directed by Oscar-nominated Eskil Vogt, The Innocents is a terrifying horror story about a child's imagination and its fearsome power. When working on the soundtrack, Finnish composer Levanto had to ask himself if children have the capability for evil. Are they born with moral codes or do people develop a sense of right and wrong growing up? He wanted to find tones to describe how the innocence of childhood vanishes as we grow up. "To create the musical atmosphere for the movie I used string instruments and cymbals, whose sound has been altered by running the recordings through a number of reel to reel tape decks and sound effects. This way I could create a nostalgic, slightly curious and melancholy soundscape, that reminds us of the world of children, into which adults can no longer enter... often it is difficult to tell where a horror soundtrack's composition ends and the sound effects begin". Ltd x 350 copies in gatefold sleeve. |
SDUG BSNGAL - 'Pathei Mathos II' CD (Zazen Sounds) - £12
A harrowing descent into the abyss of sound, this ritualistic offering fuses raw noise and experimental textures with an atmosphere of profound unease. A spiritual collaboration between the innermost beings of Rickard Gunnerfeldt (ex-Lifelover) and Johan Eddebo (Reverorum ib Malacht), "Pathei Mathos II" emerges as a sanctum for those drawn to the chaotic and the cathartic. Because creativity is truly a blessing, what is of real importance is the essence of the work of art. This deeply personal project is, on the one hand, from the perspective of Roman-Catholic mysticism, and, on the other hand, a Jungian auto-biography. The concept of Sdug Bsngal is that both voluntary and involuntary pain and suffering is fruitful. Ideal for devotees of Brighter Death Now, it beckons the listener into a realm where sonic pain transforms into transcendent revelation... Gatefold digisleeve. Already sold out from the label! |
TIMO KAUKOLAMPI - '1' LP (Svart Records) - £23
"I wanted to break all structure, to see if all form can be destroyed" says K-X-P frontman Timo Kaukolampi of his debut solo album. A desire to deconstruct convention is not a new thing for Kaukolampi, given that the Finnish band have been blurring the lines between techno, krautrock, space rock and experimental electronica for the last decade.
"I wanted to make music that has more space in it than I usually do. That captures this lonely sense of emptiness, of euphoria and beauty - a deep sadness. It's a conversation between good and evil, beauty and brutality".
An eerie dystopian presence is driven by pulsating synths and distant beats, whilst stylistically traversing across techno, cosmic disco, and dense cinematic ambience. Discarding beats for half of the record, he leaves space for contrast, for discordance and harmony, for the tender and the rough. The album also has that hard violent noise that he is more typically known for, but "...noise can ever work if it does not have beauty". 'Epiphyte (Requiem for Mika)' is a segment of the record that pays tribute to the late, and truly great, one of electronic music pioneer Mika Vainio (Pan Sonic). It gently hums, evoking a mournful and emotive tone in its vast richness and depth. Second edition with printed insert. |
TIMO KAUKOLAMPI & TUMO PURANEN - 'White Wall O.S.T.' LP (Svart Records) - £23
Bursts of electricity and deep modular synthesizer drones abound as the K-X-P duo Timo Kaukolampi & Tuomo Puranen present the official soundtrack to the Nordic Sci-Fi noir mystery TV series White Wall.
With the soundtrack to the Oscar-nominated film Euthanizer already under their belts, White Wall is the duo's first foray into the world of television.
One of the most expensive productions in Finnish TV history, this has been the most extensive musical project the duo have ever taken part in. The soundtrack is built over a wall of hum and buzz, which are used as a reality-distorting effect. Pulsating electronics and deep modular synthesizer drone create a fitting backdrop to a dark science fiction mystery. Guest starring on the soundtrack alongside Kaukolampi and Puranen are Pekko Käppi (Kiila) on bowed lyre, Tatu Rönkkö (Lampen) and Abdissa Assefa (Mamba) on scrap metal, drums and percussion, Juho Viljanen (Plain Ride, The Mutants) on trombone, and Mira Kautto on vocals. Ltd x 350 copies. |

The gates are open... what lies within them, unchained. "Odium Magno" aims to explore the darkest facets of the human condition and to take those who experience it, through the shadows and farthest depths of their inmost abyss. Enter the devouring void of "Odium Magno" and into the nothingness of it, simply let go. Gatefold digisleeve with photography by Jane Fotou. File under ritual drone-doom / experimental. GITANE DEMONE QUARTET - 'Substrata Strip' CD (Dark Vinyl) - £12
With their second album, Gitane Demone Quartet delves deeper into the sonic world of its creation, continuing to pull away the layers of artifice and pretence to get at the raw truth within. From the tragedy of 'Douglas Street' to the haunting 'Bells for Barbara', the lush beauty of 'Amaranthene' to the cosmic experimentation of 'Retrospekt' (an arrangement of a classic Sun Ra piece), "Substrata Stip" shows the band maturing and reaching into newer, more complicated realms while losing none of its visceral impact. Powerful Darkwave / post-punk featuring Rikk Agnew (Adolescents, Christian Death), Paul Roessler (Screamers, 45 Grave), Deb Venom (A Bleeding Sky) and, as ever, led by the breathtaking Gitane Demone (CHRISTIAN DEATH). Comes in a 6-panel ecopak. |
HUNTING LODGE - '1982-1989' CD (Dark Vinyl) - £12
Hunting Lodge can be seen as one of the few real "Industrial" pioneers in the early 80's. This compilation represents the song oriented side of a band that evolved relentlessly throughout its 8 years of existence, including the remastered / restored version of the legendary underground club hit 'Tribal Warning Shot'. Formed in the 'rust-belt' town of Port Huron, Michigan in 1981, the duo mixed synthesizers, bass, metal and electronic percussion, time-shifting effects, and vocals into a dark sonic mix. During their 'second wave', they added a keyboard sampler and computer sequencer. Their 'third wave' featured more drums and bass, shedding its heavily-affected electronic exoskeleton and leaning more towards a traditional 'rock' sound, while retaining their 'Industrial' roots. Hunting Lodge disbanded in 1989. Ltd x 400 copies in a 6-panel ecopak. |
PAGE / WILLIAMS / TURNER - 'Page / Williams / Turner' CD (Opposite Records) - £11.50

A percussion-propelled dubby powerhouse of ambient, industrial, free-jazz journey through the darkest cosmos! All proceeds from my sale of this release will be donated in Nik's name to charities in his chosen home country of Wales for the protection and conservation of ancient monuments. Mastered by Chris Leamy (Xen Chron). RIYL: PainKiller, Adrian Sherwood, mind-blowing music. Digipak with photography and design by Page. |
PALAIS IDEAL - 'No Signal' CD (Dark Vinyl) - £12
Palais Ideal's high-energy songs are constructed from fragments of post-punk and new wave. The band uses vintage synths, guitars and equipment to create an authentic, early 80's sound. Influenced by The Cure, New Order, The Sound and Ultravox, this music should appeal to fans of contemporary bands à la She Past Away, Lebanon Hanover and Editors. Old post-punk and synth-pop-era music for nostalgic ears. Their style is characterised by a strong fusion of cold / minimal wave elements with melancholic dark vocals, organic sounds and distinctive vocals. As musicians and producers, both members have worked on projects for and collaborated with members of Bauhaus, Tuxedomoon, Christian Death, The Legendary Pink Dots, Clan of Xymox, and Swans. 6-panel deluxe digipak with booklet. |

BAND OF PAIN - 'Uncle God's Pag Pag Banquet' 2 x CD + Etched (Unplayable!) LP (Dirter) - £26
Three years in the making, the stunning new album from UK experimental / dark ambient act Band Of Pain (aka Steve Pittis of Splintered). It features contributions from Steven Stapleton and Andrew Liles from NURSE WITH WOUND, and Jean-Hervé Peron and Jeanne-Marie Varain from FAUST, as well as the usual suspects. It is packaged in a beautiful high-gloss laminated 12" gatefold sleeve with artwork that is unique to this release by Steven Stapleton (Babs Santini). It also features calligraphy by Geoff Cox, who is known for his previous work for Current 93 / NWW and, of course, the book "England's Hidden Reverse". The format is a 2CD set, housed in die-cut pockets inside the sleeve - one CD for side one and one for side two. This keeps with the intended LP concept, but has CD fidelity for the best audio quality for this type of music. In the rear opening is a vinyl LP - an unplayable 12" record with exclusive Steven Stapleton etchings. A truly incredible audio / visual feast. "A bevy of brooding post-punk and avant-garde arraignments... a macabre assemblage, this is a cannibalistic sonic banquet for sure, a Burroughsian nightmare of an album" (Juno). |
ILLUSION OF SAFETY - 'Float' CD (Full Spectrum Records) - £12
Since 1983, Illusion Of Safety have traversed most every facet of the avant sound plane, from industrial pop deconstructions to blindingly minimal sound art to surrealist fogs of found-sound collage and beyond; an aesthetic constellation that stands apart in its own darkly beautiful corner of the sky. "Float" is a distinctly solo endeavor on Dan Burke's part, taking as its starting point an appreciation of water in all its forms: liquid, vapour, and solid. A loving homage to the magic stuff that gives life to our imperiled garden planet and ourselves, the pure sound of water runs throughout the album, transformed via sampling, granular synthesis, pianos, and electronics. Composed over the course of six months during 2023, "Float" was initially conceived for presentation on the famed CLEAT 16 multichannel system at Elastic Arts Chicago, with an accompanying video for the performance. This version of "Float" is a stereo mixdown, but the music has lost none of its sonic heft or vitality in the process. Give into it and float. Mastered by Andrew Weathers. Ltd x 150 copies in a gatefold digisleeve with liner notes by Marc Weidenbaum. |
GIGI MASIN & GIUSEPPE CAPRIOLI - 'Moltitudine In Labirinto' LP CLEAR (13 / Silentes) - £26
GIGI MASIN & GIUSEPPE CAPRIOLI - 'Moltitudine In Labirinto' LP BLACK (13 / Silentes) - £23
The vinyl reissue of an historic four-handed work by Gigi Masin and Giuseppe Caprioli, originally released 2003 (Ants label). The concept of multitude, combined with the figure / symbol of the labyrinth, suggests orders of thought pertaining to the multiple states of being that inhabit the dark labyrinths of the soul and the hidden regions of the human psyche. Everything on "Moltitudine in labirinto" pushes towards a search for the key to understanding the ultimate meaning of an ordeal as enigmatic as it is powerful. A congerie of paramusical phenomena constantly evolving, which are the expression of an inner feeling strongly focused on itself, dissimulated in the plastic flow of sound events that disclose on the gravitational maps of low-frequency drones, changing waveforms and elliptical-circular loops warped with scientific skill in the electronic workshop employed for this purpose. A cinematic symphony in nine movements that direct the listener towards the frontiers of unexplored parallel worlds, ready to recreate the infinite maze of aural multitudes that materialise, dissolve and regenerate, impulse after impulse, throughout the work. Music whose remote echo brings to mind the harmony of the spheres that governs the mechanics of the cosmos and being. Black: Ltd x 300 copies. Clear: Ltd x 200 copies on clear vinyl with a hand-numbered insert. |
PHELIOS - 'Obsidian Forest' CD (Loki Foundation) - £11.50
With their latest release, Phelios continues to carve out a unique space in the dark ambient genre. Martin Stürtzer blends expansive soundscapes with slowly evolving tribal rhythms to create a truly immersive experience. "Obsidian Forest" captures the essence of deep, shadowy woods where ancient, unseen forces seem to dwell. The album feels like a ritualistic journey into nature's darker realms, with each track evoking a vivid, sometimes haunting, landscape of sound. Phelios' trademark monumental melodies are omnipresent throughout the album, merging with sombre, swelling drones that pull listeners into a dense sonic fog. As the album progresses, these melodies evolve like distant, otherworldly chants reverberating through the trees. The layering is intricate, and the atmosphere is thick, yet there's always a sense of space - an invitation to explore these shadowy woods further. Tribal percussion grounds the otherwise ethereal soundscapes with a primal energy. These rhythms emerge slowly, almost as if they are the footsteps of an unseen figure moving deeper into the wilderness. Phelios seamlessly blends ancient and futuristic elements, balancing tension and tranquility to craft a meditative yet eerie soundscape. A sonic journey and an imaginative exploration of nature's darker side. 6-panel digipak. First orders come with a Phelios sticker! |
BRUME - 'Syncronicity & Wandering Current' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
A new concept album by BRUME, based on a compact, closed composition, outlined in a way typical of Christan Renou's work. This suite, lasting almost 60 minutes, is divided into 3 parts: 1. 'I Know You Well', 2. 'Tout peut faire tout', and 3. 'Iridium', all performed with particular attention to detail. Numerous loops, borrowings and cut-up figures seem to create a sophisticated, intuitively readable and exceptionally coherent message. With each successively sounding fragment, a narrative is realized in real time, intended to provoke the listener into multiple, in-depth and multi-layered reinterpretations. Thus, the creator invites his listener to co-create a work that is not completely closed, but with each listening allows for multiple, infinitely different realizations. For these recordings Christian Renou invited several excellent musicians to make them, including: Jonathan Grieve (Hastings Of Malawi), Pat' Blanch (void/tape), and Patrick Mazaltarim (trumpet / sax). Ltd x 300 copies in 6-panel ecopak based on the collages by French artist Françoise Duvivier. |
QORAKITOBCHI - 'Out / In' LP (Green Lakes Records) - £23
Qorakitobchi is the experimental "Ethnoise" project of Anvar Kalandarov, one of the founders of the new Uzbek experimental scene. Based in the heart of Tashkent, Qorakitobchi started making noise back in the early 2000's, at the time of the birth of the musical underground. Sparking contemplation and inspiration, his music is not just about the sounds; it is a journey through time, transporting listeners to the world of Uzbekistan's occult and spiritual heritage, enriched with innovation. Kalandarov takes traditional Uzbek folk as the basis for his compositions, often recorded on a dictaphone while travelling around the country. Overheard sighs of dutar and gidzhak interspersed with the hum of dozens of voices at bazaars and festivities create a unique sound ornament to which Anvar gives an emotional noise colouring through frequency overloads, crackle and murmur of electronic devices. However, Qorakitobchi's music is not only about noise, it also features somnambulistic drones and desolate, hissing ambient, referring to the dialectics of the unconscious. A powerful and unique experience, akin to navigating a monolithic wall of sound amidst the captivating mystique of Central Asia. Ltd x 150 copies. ***SLIGHT DAMAGE*** Please note all copies have a small ding on one corner, hence reduced price. All copies are new and still sealed.

REGARD EXTRÊME - 'Eco Solemnis' CD (Steinklang) - £12.50
"Eco Solemnis" builds upon the foundation established on previous Regard Extrême albums spanning 30 years: medieval music and orchestral neoclassical with elements of martial industrial. This new album incorporates more prominently the neoclassical elements of earlier material, without abandoning the medieval, even monastical stylings. This makes for a beautiful synthesis of new and old, which should by all rights appeal to fans of all eras of the project. "Eco Solemnis" evokes the solemn imagery of ancient sacral rituals and the ornamental beauty of medieval religion, yet the dynamic music has a more bombastic nature. A mighty album the listener on a journey through ancient times and landscapes: the monasteries and castles, cathedrals and ramparts of a time gone by. Ltd x 150 copies in a glossy 6-panel digipak with 12-page booklet.

CRISTOV - 'Defragmentierte Assoziationen' LP (Abstrakce / B.F.E. Records) - £19
The debut album from Hamburg-based artist and designer Christoph Lohse (aka Cristov) delivers an amazing record inspired by technology and dystopia. German futuristic electronics, mechanical synths, primal rhythms... a cold, sometimes industrial sound, balanced with the jazzy acoustic drums and percussion performed by Manuel Chittka.
Influenced by Ike Yard, Craig Leon, Monoton, and the German kraut maestros renewed by people like Kreidler, Die Wilde Jagd, and Tolouse Low Trax. Presented in black thick sleeves with a special sticker: experimental offset printing in black and a special silver ink printed twice on fluorescent red paper. Artwork by French artist Paul Loubet. Ltd x 200 copies only and already sold out from the label!

STINKFINGER - 'Secret And Inward Ejaculations Of The Heart' CD (Hiisi Productions) - £11.50
Gut wrenching, vomit inducing, head aching harsh noise. MT also records as Impakt (with PD of Umpio), and solo as Unclean. Following a limited debut tape, and an appearance on Freak Animal's Terässinfonia series, Stinkfinger's debut album delivers a harsh and wild ride, screaming and churning noise that burns through mind and matter. "A really good introduction to the world of tape-crunched pedal harsh noise of Stinkfinger. The sound here is a very delicious tape saturation-driven harsh noise, utilizing an arsenal of effects pedals and contact mic'd/amplified source in the mix, all sounds intertwining nicely amidst a great amount of tape hiss. It's raw and unpolished, resembling intense sessions battled onto a tape player, with the deck's bars screaming red in competition with the artist. With 4 tracks and a total running time of almost 44 minutes, it's evident that these tracks haven't been trimmed into soulless noise pieces" (Satatuhatta). Ltd x 100 copies in a digipak.
