T.A.G.C. - Iso-Erotic Calibration
CD £11.50 | LP Black £21 | LP Brown £23 - OUT NOW!

Carefully constructed aural rituals from T.A.G.C., this album maps new realms in the area of sensual electronic music. Founder Adi Newton (CLOCK DVA) uses The Anti Group as an outlet for his research in psycho-acoustic music.
"Iso-Erotic Calibration" explores the potent topic of human sexuality. Recorded over a period of three years, this could be considered on of their more "accessible" albums.
Originally released in 1994 (Side Effects, the label of Lustmord, Musica Maxima Magnetica, and Adi's own Anterior Research Recordings), we are proud to present the album for the first time on vinyl, as well as the first official CD reissue, fleshed out with four bonus tracks: two were bonus digital-only tracks (2013); one track is taken from the soundtrack to the 2011 T.A.G.C. film 'Given'; one is a remix of the title track.
The Anti Group Communications (T.A.G.C.) was devised by Adi Newton and Steven James Turner as early as 1978 as a multi-dimensional research & development project. TAGC are not affiliated to any one system of philosophy or epistemological paradigm or occult fraternity but are open more to individual systems and innovative thinkers. Science, Art, Music Sonology, Literature, Research & Publication are its main areas.
The artwork is filled with text and illustrations supporting the different songs.

VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Noise Forest'
CD £11.50 | 2LP Black £26 | 2LP Forest Green £28 - OUT NOW!

A classic compilation that emanated out of Osaka, "Noise Forest" brings together a powerhouse of early 90's Japanese noise stalwarts: MERZBOW, C.C.C.C., SOLMANIA, DISLOCATION, MONDE BRUITS, MASONNA, VIOLENT ONSEN GEISHA, and INCAPACITANTS.
The ultimate Japanoise collection, originally released in 1992 on the cult Les Disques Du Soleil label / record store on CD-only, and now impossible to find. Remastered and presented here on deluxe 2LP in matt-laminate gatefold sleeve (first time on vinyl) and new CD edition, all with new artwork.
A forest isn't something normally associated with noise; it brings to mind silence and solitude. However, the ominous cover art here - and the artists within - bring to mind the notorious suicide forest Aokigahara. Despite all tracks falling into the Japanoise genre, the tracks are very diverse, yet every track is so distinct it could only be by that artist.
"One of the most unique and stand-out noise comps of the 90's".

PITCHSHIFTER - Peel Sessions 1991-93
CD £12 | LP Black £22 | LP White £25 - OUT NOW!

We proudly present the first ever release of PITCHSHIFTER's legendary BBC sessions for the late, great John Peel.
These ultra heavy industrial metal tracks were recorded over two sessions at the iconic Maida Vale studios: 28th April 1991 and 30th March 1993 and were sourced directly from the BBC Archives (with thanks), with careful remastering for CD and vinyl.
The 1991 session was recorded during the same period as "Industrial" (Deaf Records / Peaceville), with the 1993 session recorded around the time of "Desensitized" (Earache), with the massive EP "Submit" in between.
PREMIERE AT CVLT NATION
"If you look on your PITCHSHIFTER albums you will see that we always credit John Peel. He was instrumental in getting the band out there and often played our music on the radio when no one else dared. The 'Peel Sessions' we did were a great honour and every time I met John he was always such a great guy... a legend" (JS).
Founded in Nottingham in 1989, PITCHSHIFTER's early style was heavy industrial metal, being cited as one of the originators of the genre along with Godflesh - a style which they termed "Death Industrial". These sessions and albums mark the end of that classic period, before a shift towards the more commercial, beat-driven Industrial style from the mid-90's onward that they are still known for.

BESTIA ASTRUM - 'Fury 161'
CD £12 - OUT NOW!

The debut album from Bestia Astrum (aka Abby Helasdottir / GYDJA) is a grim exploration of Fury 161, the prison planet from Alien³.
An industrial ambient travelogue of the spaces in the planet's dark and rusty facility, beginning on a wind-swept shore and ending in the eternal repose of stony sleep.
More than just an alternate soundtrack to a film, "Fury 161" takes cues from the long and troubled production of Alien³, incorporating themes from earlier concepts proposed during its development hell, including the treatment created by Vincent Ward, who imagined the movie's location as a wooden planet that was home to an order of space monks.
Motifs of eremitic religiosity permeate the album, as well as themes of Yeatsian apocalypticism, abject anatomy, and the intersection between the sacred and the profane, betwixt the beautiful and the grotesque.
• CD in full colour matt-laminate digipak with gold spot colour, accompanied by a 16-page booklet with an essay by Abby Helasdottir. |
THE SEA OF WIRES - 'The Sea Of Wires'
2CD £13.50 - OUT NOW!

The Sea Of Wires were a very early '80s electronic duo hailing from the industrial wastelands of Coventry.
Followers of the German Electronic Scene of the time (Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra Tempel, Popol Vuh, Cluster etc), Chris Jones and Tony Murphy used elements of Kosmische Musik in their compositions, with a variety of warm synths, analogue effects, and layered experimentation.
This double-CD collects cassettes which appeared on their own Sea Of Wires label: "Individually Screened" (1980, then 1981 on the famous Flowmotion label); Chris Jones' "Diversions" (1981, featuring Murphy on synth); and "Beyond The Edge Of Tomorrow" (1982), representing the absolute peak of their sound.
These tracks appeared as a double LP on the illustrious Vinyl-on-Demand label back in 2014 as part of the massive 12LP boxset "80's Minimal Synth. Wave Vol.2", but are presented here on CD for the first time ever.
"A bubbly electronic miesterwerk from the electronic Dark Ages, those very early 1980s, just as synths started to get smaller and more affordable... They mostly relied on beat-free sequencer pulses with something of a Kraut influence, plus the occasional nod to the past glories of the Radiophonic Workshop... Full of classic warm synth settings, not unlike a solid state volcanic mud pool, pumping out bubbles of sweet sounding ear gases through the smooth hot mud" (Die Or DIY).
FFO early Human League, Vice Versa, We Be Echo, Tangerine Dream.

 |
The 5th album from Birmingham-based industrial / doom metal band Khost sees the band forging new and at times nightmarish territories, alongside their signature walls of detuned guitar, corroded percussion and VHS atmospherics.
Inspiration came from countless live shows and experiments in which extreme, harsh electronics evolved with punk / early industrial tempos fused into the DNA of the album.
Collaborators include AXEBREAKER (aka Terence Hannum of Locrian), acclaimed cellist JO QUAIL, and Berlin-based sound designer MANUEL LIEBESKIND.
The CD is reinforced with 7 extra tracks including ADRIAN STAINBURNER's incredible remix of 'Yellow Light' featuring STEPHEN MALLINDER (Cabaret Voltaire, Wrangler) on vocals, and BERENECES adding his signature deep, dark D&B sound to the track 'Death Threat'. The LP editions feature a different mix by Khost especially for vinyl.

Tumble back into the nebulous and murky psychedelic haze of 70's-80's VHS horror!
Explore grimy palimpsests from the film studio to the grindhouse with 400 Lonely Things in "The New Twilight": eleven creepy yet sublime analogue microdoses of vintage genre and exploitation audio sampled and filtered through the darkly ambient, melodically droning, melancholic nerd soul.
Craig Varian has spent a half-century on earth exploring horror and finds a particular sweet spot in the glut of films released in the VHS boom of the 80's.
With the exception of one single track, each song (and song title) is sourced from a single film.
To further this theme, the chronologically ordered booklet uses the same techniques to extract a hazy and dreamlike visual reference from the murky celluloid sources.
Adjacent genres: hauntology • dark ambient • experimental electronics • psychedelic • drone • soundtrack • plunderphonics

"Broken Allures", the fifth LP from trio Jac Berrocal, David Fenech, and Vincent Epplay (following releases on Blackest Ever Black, Akuphone, KlangGalerie), furthers their unique recording style with a musique concrète approach to mixing, characterized by the distinctive sound and technique of musicians and producers. Fenech and Epplay have paired with legendary French musician Berrocal, Nurse With Wound collaborator). "Broken Allures" is arguably their most coherent and fully accomplished album to date.
For this album, the trio has invited two fantastic musicians to compose with them: COSEY FANNI TUTTI and JAH WOBBLE.
File next to Throbbing Gristle, early Clock DVA, Chris & Cosey, Bill Laswell, Master Musicians Of Jajouka.

DAVID JACKMAN - 'Flames Of Fire' CD (Die Stadt) - £13.50
"Flames of Fire" from David Jackman (Organum) consists of a 47-minute piece titled 'Flames of Fire & Stars of Lighte the Sun Ariseth'. The opening metallic hum vaguely resembles the vibrations of a sitar; shruti-like drones elongated and sustained into infinity. Unlike his work as Organum Electronics, the composition is clearly organic, retaining some electronic elements. A serpentine slithering tone that consistently flows - swelling and drifting into the lower end of the frequency spectrum - gives this piece a different feel than the ones that preceded it. The focus shifts to the tones, and he brings in the vibrating gong sounds that have featured in most of his recent work, with a noisy undercurrent towards the end. "The drones are heavier on this release... There is an orchestral darkness about this, an enormous cloud without too many details and a more machine-like proposition... This is also very dark music, but with a rather menacing undercurrent... a bleak picture and the soundtrack for a gloomy time" (Vital Weekly). Ltd x 500 copies in a digisleeve with excellent artwork by Jonathan Coleclough. |
DAVID JACKMAN - 'Schining' 2 x CD (Die Stadt) - £15
The next in Die Stadt's David Jackman / Organum series, continuing his pursuit of the monolithic shifting structure. Beginning with similar sounds to "Flames Of Fire" - a metallic buzz and deep, resonating tone - Jackman shifts the pitch more with sharper buzzing and a greater use of gongs and bells. A shimmering mix, with the first half much heavier. On the second CD he opens the sound up more, with the dynamics giving an almost buoyant quality to the music. Leading off with the crashing gong, it's soon stripped back allowing a sustained, wavering tone to be in the forefront. The sound resembles what could be an organ but held for infinity. Just as it becomes mesmerising and hypnotic though, Jackman throws in the bells, with variations coming in rapid succession versus the otherwise slow and steady feel. Ltd x 500 copies in a digisleeve with excellent artwork by Jonathan Coleclough. |
DEAD VOICES ON AIR: DADU - 'TUTU' 2 x CD + Original Artwork (Ultra-Mail Prods) - £23
Dead Voices On Air (DVOA) is Mark Spybey's main musical project, formed in 1992 when he emigrated to Canada from his native England, though he is also known as a member of Reformed Faction, Beehatch and (ex):zoviet*france:. A master class in shifting soundscapes, Dadu features Martin Harvey, Stephen Weatherall and Gary Widdowfield, all of whom were active in the Teesside music scene in the '80s. The album veers from frenzied post-punk pop to dark ambient: imagine This Heat meets James Brown in a cement mixer. Real music, made with real instruments, composed largely spontaneously and refined through studio editing. "Tutu" marries the dark ambience of Dead Voices On Air with the powerful, frenetic and, at times, equally joyful and harrowing sounds of Dadu. It features a collaboration with The Commoners Choir from Leeds, conducted by Hoff Whalley of Chumbawamba. It's a tangled, wriggling, sometimes confrontational puzzlebox of sounds and ideas, enhanced by a sumptuously designed sleeve package: a matt-laminate mini-LP sleeve, containing each CD in it's own sleeve, 6 different artcards, plus an original, individual handmade signed and numbered artwork by DVOA. Ltd x 110 copies only and very few in stock! |
FRANCISKA - 'Tryghed' LP (Discreet Music) - £22
"Tryghed" is the debut album from Franciska, the alias of Copenhagen-based artist Jonas Torstensson. As one of the key figures in the young, vivid DK scene, Jonas has released a good deal of music under different names during the last few years (notably Forankring), often in very limited cassette editions with barely no distribution. Franciska captures the very essence of the sound world they are now associated with: melancholic and rather loose tape compositions made with a hands-on approach, usually performed on organ, piano, synthesizers and acoustic instruments and often room recorded with environmental sounds leaking in. Truly DIY ambient music, with crude stop/rec editing, sizzling magnetism and tape scuffs left intact, the A-side consists mainly of piano recordings made while on break from classical music rehearsals in school, while the B-side incorporates more electronics and field recordings though still having the piano as the focal point. Wintry minimalism at its very best. Ltd x 750 copies. |
GRYMMSTALT - 'Mondschatten' CD (Zazen Sounds) - £12
Hailing from Chile, Grymmstalt present primæval 90's style raw Black Metal with a Religious Occult Philosophy. The magical and intrinsic gesture of wild landscapes decorated with frozen dresses, eternally perpetuated in the memory of the southern return. Since the release of the debut with "Anthems Of Mournful Despondency" (Signal Rex, 2022), this intricate musical work orchestrated under the southern parameters of the acclaimed "Southern Temple & Monvmenta Valdiviensae" is crowned as a revival towards the sounds crystallized by winter landscapes, the stoic memory of the ancestors and the first men who walked on tears hardened by eons, those floating mirrors that reflect the winter anniversaries on ice tombs. "Mondschatten" will briefly cover an odyssey between the dimensional aspects of the south and the majesty wrapped by the mysticism inherited from times past, thus closing a premature stage of musicality with this project composed of southern heritage. Limited edition in digisleeve. Already sold out from the label! |
JACK OR JIVE - 'Hope' 2 x CD + Original Artwork (Ultra-Mail Prods) - £23
A double-CD compilation featuring rarities by the Japanese duo, spanning 1992-2006, plus the tracks 'Hope' (2014, a song for 'Thank You Taiwan' tour); 'Phoenix' (previously unreleased, recorded 2013-2024); and a brand new track entitled 'The Majestic Mountains' (2024). Jack Or Jive was founded in 1989 by Chako and Makoto Hattori. Ethereal, dark ambient, dark wave, ritual music FFO: Nocturnal Emissions, HÖH, Inade, Predominance, Coil, or Nurse with Wound. Comes in a matt-laminate mini-LP sleeve, containing each CD in it's own sleeve. Ltd x 120 copies only edition (out of 200 total) with an Original Handmade Artwork by Chako. |
LEDA - 'Neuter' LP (Discreet Music) - £22
Leda - aka Sofie Herner (Enhet För Fri Musik, Neutral, both of which are projects with Dan Johansson of Sewer Election) - returns with "Neuter", her first album proper since "Gitarrmusik III-X" (2017). "Neuter" was recorded 2018-2021 and is the culmination of the very distinctive and unmistakable sound Sofie has developed and refined during close to 10 years now. The music of Leda is based on primitive guitar loops of various lengths, loops that intervene and create peculiar rhythms and subtle harmonies; slow-burning proto-industrial basement buzz with occasional vocals buried in the mix. The connection to the sullen soundscapes of Neutral is of course there, but the skeletal, monotonous compositions and austere nature of things sets this apart. More Malmö than Gothenburg, "Neuter" is the pinnacle of Herner's body of solo work. Ltd x 750 copies with full colour printed inside. |
MARS - 'The Dark River' CD (Zazen Sounds) - £12
Apocalyptic Neoclassical / Neofolk in the vein of Death In June, Forseti, or Of The Wand And The Moon. The third album from MARS, is named after the dark river Slidur, told of in the Nordic myths, the 'Edda', which also cuts its way through our present day. Myth is everything in MARS' work, chiseled into sound by martial drums, accentuated guitars and fatalistic vocals. In the dichotomy between a war-torn present and the pagan spirituality that flows towards us from forests and myths, the musical duo unfolds a dark and atmospheric, sometimes angry and sometimes melancholy world of sound, a series of often strikingly direct songs that do not shy away from looking into the abyss. "The Dark River" also features the unmistakable recitative voice of Erin Powell (AWEN). MARS is Marcus S. (:Golgatha:) and Oliver F. (Vinur). Limited edition in digisleeve. Already sold out from the label! |
PAUL SCHÜTZE - 'Topology of a Quantum City' CD (Auf Abwegen) - £12
"Topology Of A Quantum City" was created using the original DATs from a 1992 session for Paul Schütze's album "New Maps Of Hell". He rebuilt the central piece from that album from its original component parts / rhythm track, sending that "spine" to the various contributing players (Daniel Pennie, Dirk Wachtelaer, Bill Macdonald, and Philip Brophy) and then performed a kind of surgery with the added drums, bass, guitar and trombone. New tonalities and unexpected harmonic light and shade, with a radical rethinking of the rhythm blew the structure open, inviting multiple levels of dynamic detail. The two additional pieces have a newer origin; one with drum parts as the starting impetus around which was constructed a kind of melodic breath, laying multiple guitar lines into counterpoint; the second by atomising and refracting familiar gestures over a rolling machine rhythm. They feel like a temporal cross pollination to those familiar with their roots and perhaps a lure into a period of unheard riches to those who are yet to have that pleasure. Digisleeve. |
RAPOON / PAS MUSIQUE - 'People That Don't Exist' CD + Original Artwork (Ultra-Mail Prods) - £20
The seventh collaboration between Robin Storey (Rapoon) and Robert L. Pepper (Pas Musique). A founding member of :zoviet*france:, musician and visual artist Robin Storey began his solo project Rapoon in 1992, drawing the listener into intense, mystical ethno-ambient journeys to the Middle East. Pas Musique started in 1995 out of Brooklyn, NY, driven by the creative talents of experimental / electronic audio-visual artist Robert L. Pepper. Comes in a matt-laminate mini-LP sleeve, containing the CD in it's own sleeve, plus an Original Handmade Artwork by the artists. Ltd x 120 copies only! Already sold out from the label and very few copies in stock - ACT FAST!! |
SEWER ELECTION - 'Psychic Panorama II' CD (Discreet Music) - £12
For the best part of two decades, Sewer Election's Dan Johannson (Ättestupa, Heinz Hopf, Enhet För Fri Musik) has delivered oddball, mind-altering sonic journeys that variously touch on noise, experimental electronica, industrial music and wayward ambient. This is the much-anticipated and perhaps at least partially-dreaded follow-up to the first volume released back in 2021. Compositions for synthesizer and turntable recorded winter, recorded in 2023 at Studio Malign in Gothenburg. The 'bruitish and cold minimalism that resembles Nord or a David Tudor on benzos' still kind of rings true, but Vol II is more than just mere repetition. Psychedelic electronics indeed, including a haunting ode to Swedish goddess Marie Fredriksson, and another massive and innovative slow burner from one the very best. Odd and otherworldly electronic music. Ltd x 500 copies. |
SMEGMA & L'AUTOPSIE A RÉVÉLÉ QUE LA MORT ÉTAIT DUE A L'AUTOPSIE - 'Transmissions Des Fluides' LP (L'eau Des Fleurs) - £22
"The music is not your typical noise record, nor your typical free improvised noise variation thereof... it's a lot more. There is tape manipulation, the rockist agenda, downright doodling on percussive objects and synthesiser freakouts. Given the number of people involved, it is great to see the overall coherent approach of the music here... a job well done." (Vital Weekly). For this record, California's Smegma was Ace Farren Ford (who passed away December '23, also of The Mystery Band), Mars Ford, Amy DeWolfe, D.K., Dennis Duck (The Dream Syndicate), John Wiese (Sissy Spacek), Oblivia, and Ju Suk Reet Meat. L'autopsie a Révélé que la mort était due à l'autopsie (French: "Autopsy Revealed That Death Was Due To Autopsy") began in 2007, and is comprised of Aka_Bondage, Anla Courtis (Reynols, Origami Republika), Franck de Quengo and Ogrob (Micro_Penis). Their musical work is tinged with and influenced by Art brut, shamanism, spiritism, thanatology, plants from the Amazon forest and funeral catalogues. Ltd x 200 copies with poster. |
STATISCHE MUSEN - 'Bubendey (Memorialmusik Auf Eine Brache)' CD (Auf Abwegen) - £12
The second album from this new outlet of Asmus Tietchens, for musical endeavors that are more formula or genre based. The six long-form tracks of "Bubendey" were recorded by Tietchens and his three alter egos Ute Massensicht, Ines Schmettsau and Senta Steumisch, who also wrote the liner notes on the title-giving fallow land (Brache). This is "memorial music for a wasteland" After the industry withdrew, it left behind bizarre ruins that decayed over the years, the soil was contaminated and did not allow the creation of living space. Nevertheless, grass and other plants are now growing again and birch trees form a modest grove. The smell of petroleum has blown away. Melodic and melancholic soundscapes swell and ebb. Tietchens almost approaches ambient and creates music that can definitely be described as beautiful. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak designed by Tietchens. |

VOMIR & ANLA COURTIS - 'Sin Comentarios' LP (L'eau Des Fleurs) - £22
A collaborative album from Argentinian experimental musician Anla Courtis (Reynols, Origami Republika) and French harsh Noise artist Vomir (Romain Perrot). The dense HNW blocks of sound do not dominate or overpower the more dynamic guitar excursions of Courtis, but instead there is a good balance of the elements, making room for both artists to shine. The first side-long piece is a full-on ferocious hailstorm of electronic shards, like a thousand pieces of scrap metal disappearing into a prehistoric black hole. Midway through piece a metallic drone appears and slowly takes over the music. This leads us into the second side-long part, which feels like the grinding cosmos of part one twisted inside out, like an alternate reality, all elements in an inverted state of weightlessness. It's more open; the elements more clearly defined, there's a different sense of both space and pace, but the piece is no less intense. Towards the end the music slowly builds down, almost like a sonic origami that folds itself into nothing. Ltd x 150 copies. |

VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Hören - In Dieser Zeit' CD (Edition Degem) - £12
Fresh electroacoustic sounds from Germany. Listen, not listen, listen to, listen in, hear, eavesdrop, turn a deaf ear, interrogate. This CD focuses on the initial moment of composition in the artist's current auditory perception. Composers, sound artists and sound enthusiasts began by resonating themselves. Thus chosen by the sound, they began to compose, either captivated or repelled by what they heard; and sometimes they themselves did not know why they were listening to it. Frequencies, moods, noises, atmospheres, situations, spaces, hand actions, quotations, singing audience choirs. Then all of this driven further, rubbed, shaken, kneaded, hidden in the composer's own time. The expected diversity as well as the seamless folding of the compositions - without pauses in between, whereby the consecutive pieces clearly relate to each other without reflecting each other's essence - allow the CD itself to mutate into a media object. Curated by Johannes S. Sistermanns, featuring pieces by Miri Berlin, Frank Niehusmann (Radikal Audio Lab., STROM), Marcus Beuter, Denise Ritter (Schachtanlage Gegenort), Gerald Eckert, Clemens von Reusner (Radikal Audio Lab.), Tim Helbig, Harald Muenz, Jakob Rieke, and Antje Vowinckel. 75 mins. Digipak with 14pp booklet, with all artwork by Marc Behrens. |

DAVID JACKMAN - 'Herbstsonne' CD (Die Stadt) - £13.50
This work by David Jackman (Organum), "Herbstsonne" consists of a single 47-minute long track which is the result of recording sessions at RMS Studios, South London in 2018. Using the sounds of tanpura, piano, organ and bells, the music perfectly captures the title of the piece which translates to "Autumn Sun". "Deliberately minimalist in arrangement, but with an unquestionable dedication to the finest detail of sounds, it is another work of fascinating beauty by the legendary artist... some of the most engrossing music I have heard all year" (Brainwashed). Precision editing by Alan Jones. Ltd x 300 copies in a digisleeve with excellent artwork by Jonathan Coleclough. |
KONTAKT DER JÜNGLINGE - 'Makrophonie 1' CD (Die Stadt) - £13.50
The very first studio album from Kontakt Der Jünglinge: Asmus Tietchens and Thomas Köner. This is the result of various scores which were developed before and during miscellaneous live performances. These worked out structures were then taken to the studio, where they were concentrated and received their final finish. "Makrophonie 1" can be described as KDJ music in highly-concentrated form. "Ghostly sweeps of dark, haunting tones mix with crackling, phased static early on, with both trading off to create a dramatic, swirling build of intense music that sounds richer and more fully realized than what was captured on their live collaborations" (Brainwashed). Ltd x 500 copies in a digipak. |

Third CD by this project of Kasper T Toeplitz and the late Zbigniew Karkowski. Both musicians used computers, and created electronic sounds - no samples, no found sounds - all pure electronic. Both names were (and still are) well-known in Noise circles for their collaborations with artists such as Merzbow, Tetsuo Furudate, C.C.C.C. or Francisco Lopez, to name a few. 'Disambiguation' features an ongoing stream of grey, heavy and disturbing noises, with blocks of solid and almost material sounds and an urgency to the music. "Shedding your preconceived notions and surrendering your body and mind to this monolithic block has every potential of changing the way you look at music" (Tokafi). Ltd x 500 copies in a card slip. |
MICRO_PENIS - 'Schlim' LP (Doubtful Sounds) - £18
Schlim (slime in Alsatian dialect) is the final instalment of a trilogy from French 'gross improv' unit Micro_Penis. "Forget all the 'crazy stories' about members in mental hospitals and Zen temples, covering themselves with stuff from garbage bins, and concentrate on what is on offer, and that's the music. The four members, Heyer, Kittel, Ogrob and Spenlehauer, are no doubt non-musicians in the truest sense of the word... They swap their instruments on all tracks, and keep at them for the duration of the track. There is the usual vocal abuse, a bit of noise, improvised guitar bits, the demented rock approach if you will. It all goes down to tape and then gets mixed, and there it gets interesting; Micro_Penis use the studio-as-instrument to great effect here... It all reminded me of a bit of Nurse With Wound layering tons of weirdness on a bunch of tracks in the studio and then seeking out the right balance between those tracks in order to build an intense composition... This is surely their best album so far" (Vital Weekly). Ltd x 300 copies.

ORGANUM / Z'EV - 'Temporal' CD (Die Stadt) - £13.50
"Temporal" is the third collaborative work from Organum and Z'EV, following "Tinnitus VU" on Touch and "Tocsin" on Die Stadt. Z'EV began reworking basic sound material from the Organum archive back in 2006, which resulted in a collaborative mixing of the material until early 2008. The finishing touches were then left to David Jackman between March and June 2008. The overall tone on "Temporal" is comparable to the 'classic' Organum sound; a multi-layered and intense listening experience. Ltd x 600 copies in a digisleeve.

SEWER ELECTION - 'Kassettmusik' LP (Fördämning Arkiv / Discreet Music) - £22
April 2007. Moments captured and repeated in raw mono. Contact mic, cassette loops and cassette amplifier. Originally released as two private edition cassettes and then reworked for a CD release on iDEAL in 2008, "Kassettmusik" still stands out as one of Dan Johansson's (Ättestupa, Heinz Hopf, Enhet För Fri Musik) most confounding and bold moments. Upon its release, the extremely minimal and restrained approach on the recording took a quite unexpected turn compared to the brutish harsh noise and 'Killing For' endeavours Sewer Election was known for at the time. Crude cassette loops of sparse electronics and body sounds with the fidelity of the disintegrated magnetic tape becoming an important piece of the two side-long compositions. Ltd x 500 copies with insert. |
STEVE UNDERWOOD - 'Even When It Makes No Sense - The Broken Flag Story' Book (Korm Plastics) - £17.50
UK cassette and record label Broken Flag was founded in 1982, and whilst not having released anything for a long time, it has never officially ceased to exist. Their primary interest was radical music, noise and power electronics. They first released music by label boss Gary Mundy's project, Ramleh, but later also by Le Syndicat, M.B., Controlled Bleeding, Giancarlo Toniutti and various Mundy solo projects. As Loud As Possible magazine first published the text by Steve Underwood (Harbinger Sound label boss) in 2010, but it is expanded here with additional interviews; updates; a reprint of two issues of Broken Flag's fanzine, "Even When It Makes No Sense"; and reproductions of many of the label's cassette covers. A fascinating read and an indispensable piece of industrial music history. Paperback, 17x24cm, 144pp. |
VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Wandlungen Unplump' CD (Edition Degem) - £11
The title insinuates the content - a theme which the curator, Michael Hoeldke has held dear to his heart for some time: new, often young members have been given the opportunity to present their work. The versatility of the contributors is especially delectable, who produce more than "just" electroacoustic music. All are committed to an undogmatic - anything but "plump" (translation: loutish, crude, ungainly, clownish) - change. Features: Michael Hoeldke, Stefan Schulzki, Denise Ritter, Robert Henke, Ralf Hoyer, Brian Smith, Julia Mihaly. Ltd x 1000 copies in a digipak with artwork by Marc Behrens. |

MICHAEL CASHMORE - 'The Snow Abides Completely' 2 x LP RED & LIME (Svart Records) - £34
MICHAEL CASHMORE - 'The Snow Abides Completely' 2 x LP BLACK (Svart Records) - £33
Michael Cashmore - of NATURE AND ORGANISATION, and the main guitarist and composer for CURRENT 93 from 1990 until around 2006 - presents the first vinyl edition of his 2007 solo offering "The Snow Abides" with vocals by ANOHNI (Antony And The Johhnsons), BILL FAY and DAVID TIBET (Current 93). "The Snow Abides Completely" comprises all of the recordings made between 1999-2001 from the original The Snow Abides sessions in their entire form (an edited edition was issued by Durtro Jnana in 2007). Now finally released with 12 tracks in total (of which 5 are previously unreleased), featuring vocals by David Tibet and lyrics and music by Michael Cashmore, this is an essential album for any Current 93 fan. "When I wrote these musical pieces and texts I was suffering from a deep depression. I was also extremely shy and had such bad self-confidence that I was simply embarrassed by my texts - so much so that I was unable to release them. It is only now around seven years later of personal transformation through divine love and positivity that I no longer have such problems and I am now finally able to release them here" (Michael Cashmore, 2024).

GODWIN POINT (DAWN & DUSK ENTWINED) - 'III' CD (Dark Vinyl) - £12
Formed in 2020, Godwin Point is a side project of Dawn & Dusk Entwined, presenting their darker / nightmarish side.
Godwin Point's 3rd opus once again explores territory where you'd least expect it, keen not to dig the same path. Nevertheless, unexpected but also familiar, continuing their re-reading of the classics of the 1990s, from the sound of CMI to projects like Muslimgauze, with a touch of oriental sounds that smell of desert sand and machine grease. Haunting rhythms, repetitive bass lines, but also beautiful orchestrations and atmospheres that are both powerful and anguishing, forming a soundtrack to themes of geopolitics, domination, manipulation, power and peoples. There's no side-taking here, just a cold, straightforward vision of the way the world works, with all the players back to back, with their traces of blood, soil and oil. Ltd x 400 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve. |
FILER COLEMAN - 'Below/Light' CD (13 / Silentes) - £12
A selection of ambient works by Jim Filer Coleman (COP SHOOT COP). "Below/Light" represents an antidote, or perhaps a counterpart, to the more aggressive music that he may be more known for such as Cop Shoot Cop and Human Impact. These tracks were recorded over a span of a few years, slowly evolving and seeking definition. Electrocoustic in nature, the approach was always exploratory and playful, searching for balance and connection with the natural world. Jim Coleman was an instrumental member of Cop Shoot Cop, playing keyboards and creating samples. Afterwards he worked in other groups with more electronics - like Baby Zizanie along with J.G. Thirlwell, and Here with Teho Teardo - and recorded a solo album as Phylr. He also released an ambient album entitled "Trees" under his own name. Additionally, Coleman has scored a good number of indie films, like 'Exposed' by Beth B and 'Stay Then Go' by Shelli Ainsworth, and TV series. He has also worked with directors such as Todd Phillips, Hal Hartley, Richard Kern and Danny Leitner. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve. |
BRUCE RUSSELL & THIERRY MONNIER VIA FERMATA ARK - 'Good Friday Plowshares Missile Silo Witness' LP (Shrike Records) - £24
Thierry Monnier (Sun Stabbed/La Morte Young) was a French guitarist with a fascination for New Zealand, its landscape, people, and culture. In February 2020 he recorded a guitar duo session with Bruce Russell (Dead C./A Handful of Dust) in Lyttelton, NZ. He returned to France and sadly later died from a pre-existing illness. Before his death the raw recordings were shared with Harry Smith (Fermata Ark) who added various sonic elements and treatments. A selection of the mixed duo recordings were issued on LP by Thierry's friends in 2023 as Les Francais sont les ennemis du Pacifique, and now the alternative electro-acoustic version is finally seeing release too. Features guests Mark Wastell (Confront, Oceans Of Silver & Blood, Ist, The Sealed Knot) and Dirty Electronics. "Good Friday Plowshares Missile Silo Witness" takes its name from an act of civil disobedience by Plowshares, an anti-nuclear weapons Christian pacifist movement, on Good Friday, April 17, 1992, at the Whiteman Air Force Base, MO. Ltd x 200 hand-numbered copies in a matt-laminate sleeve, with printed inner sleeve and download card. |
ESCAPE FROM WARSAW - 'Transit The Specter Of War' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
Three years after their previous album "Korozja", Poland's ESCAPE FROM WARSAW returns with 11 new electronic tracks - on the one hand consistently performed in the spirit of lo-fi electronics, but presenting the musical work of Karol Suka (Arkona) in a slightly different, refreshed formula. You can still find echoes of electro, acid and dub in his work, but present are more raw, even metallic sounds, industrial reverbs, and field recordings that accompany you almost to the last note. Almost reminiscent of psytrance, incorporated into the structures of pieces written in the dub / electro convention, ESCAPE FROM WARSAW skillfully goes beyond the usual scheme, while maintaining the essence of his rhythmic electronic work. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak. |
RETRIBUTION BODY - 'Baphomet' CD (Full Spectrum Records) - £12
Retribution Body (Matthew Azevedo) presents the immense work "Baphomet"; visceral sturm und drang, utterly enveloping drone, and infrasonic frisson. Drawing a direct line between the acoustic sensibilities of Pauline Oliveros (with whom Azevedo studied in 2010), and the earth shattering sonics of doom titans SUNN O))), the focus of the Retribution Body is centred on the behaviour of physical sound in space, combining eurorack synthesis with a custom backline amplification rig dubbed the "Siege Tower". This behemoth system is capable of putting out a clean 117dB sine wave at 20Hz and thus far has proven indestructible. "Baphomet" though is an expressly listening-focused work. Working with the Methuen Memorial Music Hall's 160 year old Great Organ, replete with 85 stops, 6,088 pipes and a frequency range that extends down to 16Hz, and the hall's natural four-second reverberation was the spark for the birthing of "Baphomet". During the whittling down of a raw mass of sonic material into a coherent whole, they kept returning to the image of Baphomet, the idol of the Knights Templar's heretical mystery religion. Often misappropriated as a symbol of Satan, Baphomet's true nature is one of universal duality - human / animal, male / female, light / dark, above / below. Here sound / vibration, acoustic / electric, loud / inaudible culminates in the pairing of modern electronic synthesizer and the Memorial Music Hall's Great Organ. A fitting symbol for this monumental work. Ltd x 200 copies in a gatefold digisleeve with photo booklet. |
SDUG BSNGAL - 'Pathei Mathos II' CD (Zazen Sounds) - £12
A harrowing descent into the abyss of sound, this ritualistic offering fuses raw noise and experimental textures with an atmosphere of profound unease. A spiritual collaboration between the innermost beings of Rickard Gunnerfeldt (ex-Lifelover) and Johan Eddebo (Reverorum ib Malacht), "Pathei Mathos II" emerges as a sanctum for those drawn to the chaotic and the cathartic. Because creativity is truly a blessing, what is of real importance is the essence of the work of art. This deeply personal project is, on the one hand, from the perspective of Roman-Catholic mysticism, and, on the other hand, a Jungian auto-biography. The concept of Sdug Bsngal is that both voluntary and involuntary pain and suffering is fruitful. Ideal for devotees of Brighter Death Now, it beckons the listener into a realm where sonic pain transforms into transcendent revelation... Gatefold digisleeve. Already sold out from the label! |
