2LP 'COLD WHITE' + CD £30 - OUT TUESDAY! | 2LP BLACK + CD £28 - OUT TUESDAY!
We mark a decade since we first released Coil's landmark album 'Backwards', with a special 10 year anniversary vinyl reissue. All editions come in a gatefold matt-laminate sleeve with silver detail.
ALL ORDERS DIRECT FROM THE COLD SPRING STORE / BANDCAMP INCLUDE:
THE FIRST EVER RELEASE OF THE FULL 'BACKWARDS DEMOS' (10-track CD), POSTER AND ARTCARD.
After the ground-breaking release of 1990's "Love's Secret Domain" album, Coil were not dormant; the main project was "Backwards", which was started in 1992, updated considerably between 1993 and 1995, and transferred in 1996 to New Orleans, where it was finished in the magic of the Nothing studios of Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails). The album saw the fruition of Jhonn Balance's recent vocal coaching, producing haunting, passionate vocals, while reaching new heights.
23 years after its initiation, these tracks have been beautifully preserved by Danny Hyde and are finally available in highest quality audio. Differing substantially from the later, remixed incarnation, "The New Backwards" (2008), "Backwards" contains the original versions of Coil's much-loved tracks; 'A Cold Cell' and 'Fire Of The Mind', which have appeared on various compilations over the years, and are now presented as originally intended.

VA - 'Salò or The 120 Days Of Sodom' - OUT 13th FEB 2026
LP 'BLOOD RED' £20 Adv. | CD £9 Adv.

The first time on any format for Pier Paolo Pasolini's controversial 1975 vision of the Marquis De Sade's 120 Days Of Sodom, featuring beautiful and discordant classical compositions, in stark contrast to the shocking and cruel events unfolding onscreen.
Three weeks before the scandalous release of "Salò, or The 120 Days Of Sodom", Pasolini was brutally murdered in Ostia, Italy. In the wake of the tragedy, legendary composer Ennio Morricone wrote 'Addio a Pier Paolo Pasolini' (Goodbye to Pier Paolo Pasolini) for the late filmmaker, included in the final edit.
Following the narrative of one of Pasolini's defining cinematic moments, the soundtrack opens with Ennio Morricone's "Son Tanto Triste", descends into the melancholic minor chords of Bach, Chopin, Orff, Puccini, and Graziosi, incorporates sinister renditions by the cast, and includes Morricone's own sombre tribute to the director.
Disgusted by the flood of crass sexploitation movies which filled the space opened up by his "Trilogy Of Life", Pasolini turned to the most nihilistic thinker in European history for what became his final film. His version of De Sade's 120 Days Of Sodom, amplified with motifs from Dante's Inferno, confronts the ultimate implications of fascism in a series of sexual and moral atrocities. "The only true anarchy is power".
The LP / CD will be released on Friday 13th February 2026, exactly 249 years since the Marquis de Sade was arrested and imprisoned in the dungeon of the Vincennes fortress for charges of "debauchery and immoderate libertinage" that scandalised his contemporaries.

400 LONELY THINGS - 'Creature Comforts' + Why I Went To The Woods' - OUT NOW!
400 Lonely Things present two beautiful, entwined releases - one, the soundtrack to a perceived isolated apocalypse filled with psychoactive melancholia and ugly lullabies, evoking an acute sense of horror, bewilderment and bereavement... and its twin, devouring hauntological dream worlds inspired by the fictional filmed landscapes of psychedelic folk and benignly sinister pagan nights in the wild forests...
"These albums are opposite sides of the same coin, which is why they are being released in tandem. The coin being, in this analogy, the 2024 National Election in the US and its place in the world's entropic trajectory, and my own emotions in the time since. Thematically different, they are both visceral reactions to these subsequent points in time in which they were made".
"CREATURE COMFORTS"
With the idea that this album would be lullabies for the end of a world, I started seeking out soothing vocal samples and hypnotic audio beds and simple melodies and set about roughing them up to form a soundtrack to my perceived isolated apocalypse. These songs would be ugly on the surface, sad and angry and defeated and more than a little unhinged but, like David's paintings, hopefully have a heart that would show through the scarring... [read the full story of the release here].
"WHY I WENT TO THE WOODS"
Inspired equally by both the fictional filmed landscapes of psychedelic folk - the bucolic British countryside of the 1960s and 1970s which, though I've never witnessed in real life, still fill me with an inexplicable melancholic yearning to return home - and the benignly sinister pagan nights of our young wild forests here in the States... Music that would be suitable for all woodland creatures and ethereal beings of the melancholy forest. [read the full story of the release here].

CHIMEHOURS - 'Underneath The Earth'
CD £11.50 / LP Black £20 | LP Ltd Earth Green £23 - OUT NOW!
"Underneath The Earth" is the debut album from Chimehours; a hauntological music project for the dislocated present day. Taking inspiration from Max Porter's novel "Lanny", the album digs into themes of nature, myth and community, with an edge of folk-horror.
Drones, drums and gritty guitars are juxtaposed with woodwind, strings and ethereal song. Written and produced between Derbyshire, London and Margate, the album takes musical influence from the likes of Liz Fraser, Broadcast, Beth Gibbons, Bibio and Jóhann Jóhannsson, and atmospheric cues from The Wickerman, The Fog, and Enys Men.
Chimehours is a collaboration between Beck Goldsmith and Jon Dix. The pair have previously performed in bands together and composed music for award-winning film and television. They conjured up this foray into cinematic, horror-flecked contemporary-folk to explore their love of the supernatural and the other-than-human.
Chimehours raid the vaults of 70's British cinema and trad folk soundscapes to riff on contemporary anxieties and ecological yearning. They conjured up this foray into cinematic, horror-flecked contemporary-folk to explore their love of the supernatural and the other-than-human. The result is a collection of all things earthy, exquisite and grotesque.

ATARAXIA - 'Centaurea' CD (The Circle Music) - £12
A golden voyage through a mythical land, Ataraxia's 29th album was conceived on a real Greek island of impressive neoclassical beauty. "Centaurea is an island beyond the columns of time, still immersed in a golden age, it is a new Mediterranean Avalon whose name is a hundred times brighter than gold and that can only be accessed by dreaming... always immersed in the gold of the light of twilight and the flaming magenta of the dawn, we reach a dimension in which the principles of the Sacred Feminine and Masculine are embodied by heroes and maidens, priestesses and bards. We participate in nocturnal rituals, dances at dawn, races across prairies and woods, flights overlooking the sea, celebrations of the primeval Sun. We speak lunar alphabets, we cross woods of wild loves, enchanted bays where sweet scents are released, we sail wild blues and listen to the myths of the Oak. The beings who animate these places live destinies on a strand of splendour".
The lyrics of the songs, sung in several ancient and modern languages, are precious poems by Francesca Nicoli and Mara Paltrinieri (who also worked on the band's first albums). A kaleidoscope of varied beauty in which the arts blend and accompany us. Ad Maiora! Jewelcase with 12-page booklet, featuring two CD-only bonus tracks. |

AUTUMN TEARS - 'Crown Of The Clairvoyant' CD (The Circle Music) - £12
Like the slow cloaking of twilight over a forgotten cathedral, 'Crown Of The Clairvoyant' signals a transcendental reawakening for Autumn Tears. The album unfurls in movements both haunting and divine, carrying the listener into a realm where sorrow and splendour waltz as one. Orchestrated with exquisite precision and opulent depth, strings sweep like celestial tides, choirs rise like prayers from cloistered ruins, and woodwinds whisper secrets from lost mythologies. Rooted in the neoclassical tradition, the album weaves baroque intricacies with cinematic grandeur, crafting soundscapes that feel both sacred and boundless. Autumn Tears is an international act fusing modern classical music with elements of cinematic score and world music, layered with diverse male and female vocals. Featuring a fully orchestrated, rich classical ensemble and full choir, the massive musician and vocalist lineup includes composer / pianist / lyricist Ted Tringo, classical / opera duet and composers Caroline Joy Clarke and Darren Clarke (Trovatori), singer / songwriter Tamar Singer (Zeresh, Cruel Wonders, Necromishka), and violin/viola virtuoso Sanja Smileska, together with a huge ensemble of musicians and vocalists. Features a special guest appearance by Francesca Nicoli from Italian neoclassical band Ataraxia on two tracks. CD in jewelcase. |

BROTHERHOOD OF SLEEP - 'Enter The Nuummite Cosmos' CD (Zazen Sounds) - £12
Brotherhood of Sleep is all about the Astral Temple that feeds on the massive energy of a Violet Sun, whose rays continually activate the crystals and skulls in the Temple and keep them in their highest, most powerful energetic state. The sound in the recordings captures the etheric sounds from the Temple and the atmosphere of the places that are connected to it, ranging from dark, sometimes percussion driven ambient, straight to deep monotone passages which symbolizes the state of the deep emptiness where everything is born from. The title of the work "Enter The Nuummite Cosmos" may be taken literally, and is about entering the giant Nuummite crystal wall which is located in the Temple and acts as a gateway, with the intention to learn to make full alignment/integration with all that is, and to become thereby the Eye of the Storm. Brotherhood Of Sleep is the Ritual Dark Ambient project of renowned Belgian artist Bart Piette (NDE / Dead Man's Hill), whose debut "Devotional Hymns To A Brilliant Flaming Sun" was released on Winter-Light in 2024. Gatefold digisleeve. Already sold out from the label! Very few copies in stock - ACT FAST! |
CORVUS CORAX - 'Sverker' LP RED / BLACK MARBLED (The Circle Music) - £26
Presented on vinyl for the very first time, "Sverker" marks an important milestone in the history of Corvus Corax. Bringing old Viking and Celtic music back to life was not yet the "big thing" that it is nowadays. "Sverker" is by far the most successful album of Corvus Corax worldwide, so this beautiful vinyl edition is a kind of monument to its songs. Originally released in 2011 (Behßmokum Records / Dancing Ferret), "Sverker" contains all quality features that made Corvus Corax the best of their kind. It's a musical feast between drums and bagpipes in an atmosphere full of pompous rhythms and bombastic vocals. A unique folklore medieval festival of sounds and images by these masters. Features guest vocals from Meister Selbfried (Tanzwut), and Icelandic singer Arndis Halla (Apassionata). New mastering by George Emmanuel (Pentagram Studio). Ltd x 250 copies on marbled red and black vinyl, presented in a luxurious heavyweight tip-on sleeve. |
DIRK SERRIES - 'Zonal Disturbances III' CD (Zoharum) - £11.50
The third installment in Dirk Serries' (Fear Falls Burning, Vidna Obmana) "Zonal Disturbances" cycle. As with the previous chapter, he recorded material using electric guitar coupled with numerous effects. The four long compositions (ranging from 13-17 mins) further develop Dirk's direction, constructing his signature ambient style: organic, sombre, and eerie. The entire piece was also recorded live, in a single space, resulting in music that reveals the artist's penchant for minimalism and slow, repetitive sound clusters, thus drawing on his roots, deeply rooted in industrial and experimental music. After four decades in the scene, Dirk Serries continues to display his artistry in creating provocative, unique and genre-bending ambient music. He is a musical force to reckon with and to be finally rewarded for his wilful and unique voice in an ever increasing superficial music industry. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel ecopak. |
FRANS DE WAARD - 'We Know How To Hate - The Opus Dei Society Story' Book (Korm Plastics) - £11
In 1984, Frans de Waard founded his label, Korm Plastics, and his music project, Kapotte Muziek. Shortly thereafter, Christian Nijs joined as a member. About a year later that, Frans launched the Opus Dei Society. This harsh noise cassette label released 23 cassettes by the likes of Post Destruction Music, Kapotte Muziek, Death Pact Internal, Factor 6, THU20, 13 Frater 13, A Violated Body, Zweiter Korps, Con-Dom, Nails Øv Christ, Odal, Experiment Incest, Birth of Tragedy, Brutal Love, Vandal X, Het Hilaire Brisdak Ensemble, Une Le Wurg Production, and Information Aggression. In this book, he details the story of each release and, along the way, interviews several key players, including Vidna Obmana, Don van Dijk, David Padbury, Eriek van Havere, Stef Windelinx, and Ameury Perez, while Peter Zincken writes autobiographical notes. There are a few reprinted pieces from the past, such as interviews with Con-Dom and THU20. There's even a recipe! Two additional texts are about Christian Nijs and his venture as a label, Disbuse Transmissions, and a piece on the early works of Peter Zinkcen / Odal. An indispensable read for anyone with a love of harsh noise, power electronics and obscure cassette releases. 17 x 24 cm, 88pp. Recently digitised, you can listen to all 23 tapes here! |

MAKINA GIRGIR - 'Torment' CD (Other Voices Records) - £13
A true classic of modern minimal synth, unavailable for more than a decade. Makina Girgir emerges from the shadows with a soundscape deeply rooted in the early 80's synth-pop and industrial scene. Drawing inspiration from pioneering acts like Cabaret Voltaire, Kraftwerk, Chris & Cosey, The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Coil, Talk Talk, Severed Heads, their music is a rich homage to an era that reshaped electronic music. Yet, Makina Girgir doesn't merely replicate the past - they reinterpret it with a modern twist. The band's lyrics delve into profound and universal themes: the human soul, melancholy, the fragility of life, and the inevitability of death. They weave their narratives through the timeless words of literary giants such as Tolstoy, Gorky, Dostoevsky, and Tvardovsky, infusing the music with an intellectual depth. With the band's cold, spoken female vocals delivered in a haunting blend of French, English, and Russian, they paint an immersive, misty, and mysterious sonic world that is captivating and unsettling. Includes the long out of print "The Spell" 5-track EP and a new bonus intro track. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak.

ORDO CULTUM SERPENTIS - 'Derej Najash I & II' CD (Zazen Sounds) - £12
Ordo Cultum Serpentis (South Korea's Sang Ho Moon) is a Ritual Ambient / Funeral Doom / Black Metal project that, through a ritualistic, dense, raw, cavernous, and profoundly dark sound, seeks to create an atmosphere almost impossible to explain, describe, or even assimilate. It's not just about listening to it, but about experiencing it first-hand. The compositions are born from rituals performed using enochic language, where words linked to primordial entities such as the Dragon (Vovina), Death (Teloch), and Spirits (Gah) are invoked. These invocations intertwine with mantras, death whistles, and resonances extracted from human bones, forming a sonic act that borders on the forbidden. Once the ritual was consummated, the words and letters were erased and condemned to oblivion. Nothing was written. Nothing was meant to remain. The only vestige of those ceremonies are these recordings, sonic relics that forever sealed our order and our worship of the serpent's path. Gatefold digisleeve. Already sold out from the label! Very few copies in stock - ACT FAST! |
PENITENT - 'Melancholia Redux' CD (The Circle Music) - £12
Penitent's debut album "Melancholia" (originally released by Cold Meat Industry, 1996), is released in a new incarnation for this 30th anniversary edition. The music and instrumentation have been re-recorded, the lyrics have been rewritten (now in English), and there is fresh new artwork and mastering album. An album of sad and sombre, but majestic Neoclassical synth music, which together with the spoken poetry awaken the most dark and depressive feelings. This album is dedicated to the memory of Marquis De Sade. "What kind of emotions guides us when we feel the loss of hope and the whole life seems to be nothing but a mournful bridge over a river of tears? One has to live one's life, and bear all the pain and sorrows, sadness and depression. Fatal for the majority, these dark emotions may become the pleasure for the others and give them power to survive. The punishment will come and everybody will be punished one way or another. To await or to undergo this punishment is to be a Penitent". For this album, Norway's Penitent was main man Karsten Hamre (aka Beastus Rex, who also records as Arcane Art, Dense Vision Shrine, Veiled Allusions etc) and Asbjørn B. Log (aka Azgoth). Ltd x 500 copies in a digipak with 12-page booklet.

RAPOON - 'Cidar (Redux)' CD (Other Voices Records) - £13
Originally available in 1994 as a limited-edition DAT tape through Staalplaat Records, "Cidar" was later included as a bonus CD in the reissue of another Rapoon classic, "Fallen Gods" (Staalplaat, 2000). This mesmerizing work is now presented as a stand-alone release - remastered and expanded with previously unreleased tracks from the original recording sessions. "Cidar" showcases Rapoon's signature sound - a seamless blend of drones and loops intertwined with vibrant African percussion and hauntingly beautiful Asian string instruments. This combination creates an immersive, trance-like atmosphere that transports listeners into a world of meditative sonic exploration. With its enchanting rhythms and deeply textured layers, "Cidar" stands as a testament to Robin Storey's unparalleled ability to craft music that defies genre boundaries while remaining instantly recognisable. A hypnotic masterpiece. Since 1992, Robin Storey (founding member of the pioneering post-industrial band Zoviet*France) has been creating innovative and thought-provoking music under the Rapoon moniker. Ltd x 300 copes in a digipak with two bonus tracks. |

This is the 5th album from British band The Stargazer's Assistant. This CD edition contains both parts of the "Modular Fields" diptych (released as Volume One and Volume Two on vinyl) - four long, ambient compositions with a slightly esoteric flavour. Like the previous release, "Fire Worshipper", the album was recorded with the following lineup: David J. Smith (Guapo, The Amal Gamal Ensemble, The Holy Family), Michael J. York (COIL, The Utopia Strong, Urthona), David J. Knight (UnicaZürn, Shock Headed Peters), and Antti J. Uusimaki (UZU NOIR). This musical phenomenon can be simply defined as esoteric ambient, stylistically fitting somewhere between the albums of Cyclobe, UnicaZurn, Coil from the last period of activity and all kinds of lunar publications. Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
THE STARGAZER'S ASSISTANT - 'Modular Fields. Volume Two' LP (Zoharum) - £20
This is the 5th album from British band The Stargazer's Assistant. The second part of the diptych "Modular Fields" is comprised of two long, ambient compositions with a slightly esoteric flavour. Like the previous release, "Fire Worshipper", the album was recorded with the following lineup: David J. Smith (Guapo, The Amal Gamal Ensemble, The Holy Family), Michael J. York (COIL, The Utopia Strong, Urthona), David J. Knight (UnicaZürn, Shock Headed Peters), and Antti J. Uusimaki (UZU NOIR). ATTRITION / ALU - 'Attrition / Alu' CD (Peripheral Minimal) - £11
A self-titled split album which seemingly accentuates the desolate paranoia of the 1980's cold-war period by both acts' usage of daunting electronic instrumentation, post-industrial angst and a generous helping of existentialist experimentalism. It's perhaps unsurprising then that both Attrition and ALU hail from two cities [Coventry and Berlin] utterly destroyed by the constant bombing raids of the RAF and the Luftwaffe during WW2. Rebuilt into ultimately, naïve idealistic visions of the future, i.e. ring-roads, underpasses, Brutalist high-rise concrete blocks and a sense of utilitarian post-modernist uniformity, not to mention a sense of dystopian dread. "Creating and exploring rich shadowy electronic soundscapes...interweaving the ephemeral with the operatic, the sound can at once calm your soul and chill your bones..." (The Hatchet). The resultant recordings recall works by other artists who were working in a similarly discordant fashion, specifically Cabaret Voltaire, Nocturnal Emissions or even the abstract, absurdist and surrealist collage-noise of Nurse With Wound. It is without doubt forgotten treasure, repackaged and remastered as an antidote to 21st century disquiet. "We aim to store as many sounds, noise and rhythmic frameworks as possible in our synthesizers and drum machines as we allow them to unfold naturally when we play live. Words and vocals are snapshots, spontaneous phenomena" (ALU ,1983). Ltd x 200 copies in a gatefold ecopak. |
FRANS DE WAARD - 'America's Greatest Noise!' Book (Korm Plastics) - £17
"America's Greatest Noise!" tells the story of Ron Lessard, owner of RRRecords, a record store in Lowell, Massachusetts and, from 1986 to 2009, a record label, releasing the albums of Blackhouse, F/i, PGR, the first Merzbow LP outside Japan and many more, regional compilations, three widely acclaimed lock groove records and a series of anti-records, records with no music but a more conceptual and visual edge. RRRecords is also responsible for the RRRecycled Music series, which has over 300 releases on re-purposed cassettes. Ron Lessard played music with his group Due Process and solo as Emil Beaulieau. Up until his retirement from the noise scene in 2006, he played many concerts and released a string of cassettes, LPs, and CDs. During his concerts, Lessard dressed up like a businessman and used a four-armed turntable, dubbed the Minutoli. In this book, he tells for the first time his story in music about the highs and lows of running a label and a record store, weird projects, unfinished projects, encounters with other musicians, being on the road, and much more. Also included are two appendices: one with interviews from the past (fanzines and websites) and a chapter from Michael Tau's "Extreme Music" about the anti-records released by RRRecords. Images used were sourced from flyers, invitations and fanzines. Introduction by Dominick Fernow (Prurient, Hospital Productions). Please note, this does not come with the Ltd flexi disc! A5 paperback, 144 pp, with design by Alfred Boland. |
O YUKI CONJUGATE - 'Equator' CD (Other Voices Records) - £12
Reissue of the 1995 album by British post-industrial / ambient group O Yuki Conjugate, originally released by Staalplaat. Coming four years after their lauded "Peyote" album, "Equator" made use of the emergent technology of the early 90's, making it one of the first albums to be mixed with digital equipment, weaving together a blend of studio, live and location recordings to create their own deeply immersive, enveloping soundscapes. Brooding atmospheres unfold underneath a wide range of ethnic percussion and deep, meditative basslines - existing in a unique cross-section of Hassell-inspired 4th world mystery, Industrial landscapes, and the rich middle-eastern projections pioneered by Muslimgauze. It's a deeply hypnotic work that joins the dots between the late 80's industrial scene and the smoked-out chill-out rooms of the '90s. This expanded edition features an additional 30 minutes of material, together with glorious new artwork from artist and actor Frederick Schimmelschmidt. Ltd x 300 copies in a mini-LP gatefold sleeve with spot-varnishing. |
STEVE UNDERWOOD - 'Even When It Makes No Sense - The Broken Flag Story' Book (Korm Plastics) - £17
UK cassette and record label Broken Flag was founded in 1982, and whilst not having released anything for a long time, it has never officially ceased to exist. Their primary interest was radical music, noise and power electronics. They first released music by label boss Gary Mundy's project, Ramleh, but later also by Le Syndicat, M.B., Controlled Bleeding, Giancarlo Toniutti and various Mundy solo projects. As Loud As Possible magazine first published the text by Steve Underwood (Harbinger Sound label boss) in 2010, but it is expanded here with additional interviews; updates; a reprint of two issues of Broken Flag's fanzine, "Even When It Makes No Sense"; and reproductions of many of the label's cassette covers. A fascinating read and an indispensable piece of industrial music history. Paperback, 17x24cm, 144pp. |
STEVE PARRY / COLIN POTTER - 'Womb' CD (Peripheral Minimal) - £11
Recorded onto tape in 1981, this is the first release of the legendary album "Womb" by Steve Parry (Neu Elektrikk, Hywl Nofio) and Colin Potter (Nurse With Wound, Monos, Ora, Fovea Hex). "Womb remained unreleased other than a few cassette tapes given to friends. In 2014 I re-discovered the album master tapes while having a house clear-out. The Ampex 406 master tapes were severely damaged due to natural deterioration, the original tape had to undergo a time-consuming restoration process. Thankfully the project was salvageable and the music was transferred to digital. I must admit listening now to these recordings I am reminded of the creative surge and ebullient enthusiasm for making the music. It was indeed an exciting time" (Steve Parry). Instruments / devices used in the recordings by Parry & Potter included: saw, plastic bucket and plastic tube, water, alarm clock, cotton rags, metal bars, electric drill, drum machine, bongo drums, analogue synth & sequencer, field recordings, electric, acoustic & bass guitars, flute, keyboards, found sounds, comb, and voice. "The sonic pairing of two important figures from the post-industrial genre... sitting somewhere between sparse experimental electronica, moody-to-unsettling sound-scaping, and generally grimly atmospheric sound craft... Womb has a fairly timeless quality of both disquiet and unease" (Musique Machine). Ltd x 500 copies with 8-page booklet. |
THE STARGAZER'S ASSISTANT - 'Modular Fields. Volume One' LP (Zoharum) - £20
This is the 5th album from British band The Stargazer's Assistant. The first part of the diptych "Modular Fields" is comprised of two long, ambient compositions with a slightly esoteric flavour. Ltd x 200 copies in a matte-laminate sleeve, pressed on 180g heavyweight vinyl. Includes download card. |

SŌON (ADI NEWTON & JACK DANGERS) - 'Actions Made Audible (Extended Edition)' CD (Electronic Sound) - £12
Extended edition of the limited blue vinyl released in March this year. Sōon is a new project from two legends of electronic music: Adi Newton (Clock DVA, T.A.G.C.), and Jack Dangers (Meat Beat Manifesto). An uncanny and thrilling adventure in pure electronics and tape archive; an exploration of theoretical frameworks for a new kind of thinking expounded by psychedelic intellectuals like Aldous Huxley. It's a celebration and continuation of a post-war era when avant-garde western thought was edging towards cosmic consciousness with an avant-garde electronic music to match it. "Actions Made Audible" is a fantastical aural journey though spectral dimensions and psychedelic radiophonics, with exquisite sound design and beat making, floating between a sonic evocation of a mushroom trip, to a time when adventurers in sound were capturing interference from the ghostly on reel-to-reel recorders in suburban London living rooms. Gorgeous swirls and arpeggios, haunting Berlin School beauty, machines and Mellotron tapes in heart-stopping harmony. There was so much great material from the Sōon sessions, this deluxe version of the album features six new tracks, more than doubling the length of the original vinyl version. Digipak. |
DAMO SUZUKI with NUMINOUS EYE & STEVE ETO - 'High School Pharmacy!!!' LP (Charnel Music) - £20
After booking a tour of Japan in 2007, Numinous Eye (Mason Jones & Mike Shoun) discovered that Damo Suzuki (Can) was visiting Japan at the same time and so a night playing together with Steve Eto was arranged at Tokyo venue Pink Noise. "Playing an improvised show, with no planning ahead of time, after a transcontinental flight, was probably not wise, but it was psychedelic. And it was great. After the initial tentative and sparse piece, Mike and Steve were locked in on drums and percussion, Damo was flowing, and I found ways to wind the guitar into it all. For me, the show passed in a hazy, dreamlike time, and was over all too soon". This album is an edited sampling from the show, including the opening piece, the ending piece, and a portion from the middle. It covers all of the calm, the heavy, and the experimental aspects. Damo provided the album and song titles. Damo Suzuki passed away in February 2024. Ltd x 300 copies with download card. |
ANACLETO VITOLO / HISEKA / GIGI MASIN / FABIO ORSI - 'A Sad Song For A.' 4 x CD Boxset (13 / Silentes) - £42
'A Sad Song For A.' was born from a conversation between Stefano Gentile and Giulia Dal Vecchio about intense anxiety, translating an emotional state into words. From there, came the idea of dividing the emotional journey into four stages that, in one way or another, we have all experienced: Panic, Anxiety, Light, and Dream.
A project which combines writing, photography, and music with a specific goal: to make people feel less alone, creating an invisible thread of empathy through words, images, and sounds - to feel closer to one another, to strike common inner chords, to remember that no one is truly alone when going through darkness. "A sad song for A." features Gigi Masin, Fabio Orsi, Anacleto Vitolo, and a new multimedia project called Hiseka (Stefano Gentile and Giulia Dal Vecchio with various guests). Each musician worked on a phase of anxiety, creating a dedicated and original work. Stefano created the images and Giulia wrote the texts. Each of the four parts was given a title that is also the title of the sound work.:
CD1 (Panic): Anacleto Vitolo "Precipitando in un vortice di stelle malate" (Falling into a vortex of sick stars). Dark ambient with thunderous variations bursts, that bubbles with traces of noise... celestial synths, noisy cracks, rising beats (heart palpitations), abrasive roughness, an exhausting and relentless loop, hypnotic and obsessive percussion on a buzzing post-industrial backdrop.
CD2 (Anxiety): Hiseka "Affogando in un mare di polvere" (Drowning in a sea of dust). Laboured breathing in a drone dimension, pulsations in the silence, melancholically cosmic syntheses, a heart that returns to beating irregularly over a texture of field recordings, subdued Eno-esque panoramas, gentle and deeply solitary gravity touched by piano notes dirtied by glitches. Silences reign supreme.
CD3 (Light): Gigi Masin "Implodendo in una accecante oscurità" (Imploding in a blinding darkness). Sparkling sonic magic. Glimmers of light bounce off broad synthetic volutes, a bewitching ambient, airy quiet... a few veins of darkness shine through, aesthetic beauty equates to clear spirituality, sax and female voices, the elegy that intertwines piano and vocal loops, that omnipresent melancholy, nostalgia.
CD4 (Dream): Fabio Orsi "Ascoltando il rumore dei girasoli" (Listening to the sound of sunflowers). Escapist voluptuousness, in the wake of a reflective ambience, in a soft and vaporous form of post-rock, on a neutral drone base of lost melodies, yet romantic, caressing melancholy with a mild warmth, a cosmic thread that crosses the clouds, the utmost delicacy of rarefactions and celestial breaths between piano drops.
A beautiful, deluxe 4CD boxset (7.5" / 19cm), with each CD in its own printed sleeve. Also includes four individual 17x17cm booklets with photographs by Stefano Gentile and texts by Giulia Dal Vecchio, a hand numbered insert, a postcard and a bookmark. Ltd 300 numbered copies. |
POST SCRIPTVM - 'Тучи над Борском: Эксгумация Теней' CD (Death In Venice Productions) - £12
Brooklyn duo Post Scriptvm is a unique example of classic post-industrial, which has not lost any sense of power. Widely known for the album "Raspad" (Tesco Org.), this latest album "Thunderclouds Over Borsk" returns to the sound of their mini-albums "Chiaroscvro" and "Sea-Green Series V" (2003-2004). "Thunderclouds..." is an experimental record, similar to a steep feverish dream. Strong, old school dark ambient which, despite respecting the rules of the genre, is intrinsically unpredictable on a psychoactive level. This music lies in the space between a nightmare and mysterious reality. The reactionary otherworldly sound resonates perfectly with the themes of religious obscurantism... and the quest for a higher truth. The album's title refers to the Soviet anti-religious propaganda film of 1960, which is set in the fictional town Borsk. Originally released 2016 on tape / digital only (NEN Recs), this is the first time on CD proper and features 3 bonus tracks. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digipak. |
MAGICAL POWER MAKO - 'Next Millennium Vibrations' CD (All Horned Animals) - £12.50
Originally released in 1993, "Next Millennium Vibrations" drifts through warped tape loops, ambient zones and sampled oriental percussion with comical electronics, conjuring a surreal, meditative and disorienting atmosphere. Mako weaves fractured beats with ethereal melodies, blending kosmische, lo-fi psychedelia, and avant-garde experimentation. Composer Toru Takemitsu introduced Mako to Polydor, who released his 1974 debut album, "Magical Power", featuring Keiji Haino on vocals. Music as ritual has been a central motif in Mako's work. With his playful aesthetic and his arcane approach to live performances, often taking the form of channeling rituals, incorporating elements from alien communications, psychic networking to Buddhist symbolism, Mako perpetuated a personal mythology. Magical Power Mako passed away unexpectedly on February 7, 2025. This reissue release was planned and authorized by Mako before his passing. Jewelcase with obi strip with artwork by Yuko Asano, using stills from her animation movie "The Western Mantra" (1980). |
PHILIPPE LAURENT - 'Phoenix' 12" WHITE (Peripheral Minimal) - £15
A new (to our mailorder) 12" by French electronic pioneer, Philippe Laurent, following the infectious synthetic classic 12", "Mithra". "Phoenix" is a three track vinyl (25 mins) featuring two brand new tracks on the A-Side: 'Phoenix', and, 'Agapao'. Meanwhile over on the B-Side, we have the 13-minute electronic opus and highly representative of his early work, 'Exposition 4' - a never before released track from Philippe's extensive archive, recorded in 1982.
The work Is representative of Philippe's latest forays into contemporary synth music, but still with a retro futurist edge and influenced partly by German pioneers Kraftwerk / late 70's Kosmische and au courant electro / synthwave acts, fitting into the current enthusiasm for early 80's synth pop and minimal wave. Ltd x 300 copies on white vinyl.

TRANCE - 'Ancient History' CD (Helicopter / Troniks) - £11.50
San Francisco-based musician, artist, and writer Mason Jones has been a giant force in the experimental underground for more than 30 years, from founding the influential record label Charnel Music and publishing the Ongaku Otaku magazine, curating the legendary Japanese / American Noise Treaty compilation for Release Entertainment, touring and recording under a variety of guises, including his earliest work under the moniker Trance. "Ancient History" collects three live tracks (72 mins) of shifting sound, industrial haunt, and ritual chaos, including the project's first-ever live performance (1991), the Heinz Club Oakland set (1992) opening for the fabled C.C.C.C. show documented on their Loud Sounds Dopa disc, and an expanded, completely remastered version of the Live at the Starlight Furniture Company session (1991) recorded with Jojo & Junko of Hijokaidan and Elden M. of Allegory Chapel Ltd, previously released as a sought-after 7" record on Charnel Music. Mastered by John Wiese. Digipak. |
DAWID CHRAPLA - 'Un Natural Fields' CD (Zazen Sounds) - £12
"Unnatural Fields" is a profound continuation of Dawid Chrapla's (Synapsis) sonic investigation into the fragile threshold where nature and industry converge. He crafts an immersive passage through contrasting realms: field recordings drawn from forests, ponds, and quiet natural enclaves are intertwined with the vast metallic resonance of a nearby steelworks. In this fusion, the organic and the mechanical breathe together - sometimes harmoniously, sometimes in tense opposition - forming a hypnotic tapestry of sound that challenges the listener's perception of environment and place. "Unnatural Fields" stands as a contemplative reflection on how humanity and nature coexist within the modern acoustic landscape, revealing beauty in conflict, stillness in machinery, and meaning in the spaces where worlds overlap. Prepare to enter a terrain where the living earth hums with iron lungs, and where sound becomes a map of the unseen relationships shaping our world. Gatefold digisleeve. Already sold out from the label! |
COLLISION STORIES - 'Those Missing Will Complete Us' CD (Public Eyesore) - £11
"Collision Stories are a quartet of San Francisco sound artists concocting an unorthodox mélange of sounds from an appropriately unorthodox set of instruments. Individually, the four artists - Jorge Bachmann, Bryan Day, Michael Gendreau and Mason Jones - bring highly varied backgrounds to their collective work. Jones, for example, is a guitarist; at the other end of the instrumental spectrum, Day coaxes sounds from handcrafted intonarumori made of metal measuring tapes, radio transceivers, springs and a miscellany of contact mic'd wood, wire and metal. Put together, the group's sound, as captured on this CD of ten tracks recorded live and in the studio, is an aggregate of elements that are as unclassifiable as they are unidentifiable. Common to all the pieces is a sonic plasticity made of carefully juxtaposed and spaced timbres - sounds of obscure generation impacting each other and then dispersing in a heavily reverberant environment. This is sound that comes very close to the condition of abstract painting: irregular shapes of pure colour held together with a finely-tuned dynamism" (AMN Reviews). Ltd x 500 copies in a sealed ecopak. |
